GOAL LINE FOOTBALL is a 5v5 variation of AMERICAN TACKLE FOOTBALL. It is played on a modified field that is 90 feet long by 85 feet wide which is the RED ZONE of a regulation ARENA LEAGUE FOOTBALL field. GOAL LINE FOOTBALL uses 5 yard END ZONES. Each team gets 8 opportunities to score from the 10 YARD LINE. Scoring outside the 5 YARD LINE is worth 6 points, scoring inside the 5 YARD LINE is worth 3 points. After a 6 point score, teams can elect to take a free point, try for a 2 POINT CONVERSION from the 3 yard line, or try for a 3 POINT CONVERSION from the 20 yard line.

All DEFENSIVE TOUCHDOWNS are worth 6 points with the same conversion opportunities as a 6 point offensive TOUCHDOWN. A DEFENSIVE TURNOVER that does not result in a touchdown ends the series and the next series begins again at the 10 yard line.

Teams change possession and field direction after HALFTIME. The game ends after one team can no longer mathematically score enough points to win or after the conclusion of the eighth series.

In case of a tie, each team gets one additional series that begins at the 20 yard line. This continues until there is a winner.

GOAL LINE FOOTBALL has two rules exclusive to the league. The DEFENSIVE OPTION is a purple flag that can be thrown at any time to force the offense to finish their series from the 20 yard line. It can be used at any time including a CONVERSION attempt. Teams only have one DEFENSIVE OPTION per game.
The OFFENSIVE OPTION can be used on any fourth down to relinquish the ball and force the oncoming offense to start their next series from the 20 yard line. This would be equivalent to a punt in traditional AMERICAN FOOTBALL. There is no limit on how many OFFENSIVE OPTIONS a team may use.
