[Music] [Music] what’s up everybody Nick wh and Alex barua here with you the Monday episode of the road of wire fantasy basketball podcast busy weekend as always in the NBA Alex well we’ll talk about some takeaways from the weekend we’ll talk about some waiver wire addition some drops that we made uh I mean just put in a huge huge bid for Nick Richards in the road of wire staff League everybody’s talking about it um and we we’ll start to preview the week ahead I also want to talk about some players trending up some players trending down there’s a great page over at Yahoo where you can see the the players who are rostered on the highest number of the most successful teams so I think they take like the top 500 public league teams you can see which players have been the best values which players have been carrying those teams so we’ll dive into that as the show goes along but let’s start uh let’s start with the waiver wire we’ll go right to the chat we’ll we’ll hit your questions throughout the episode so keep stacking those up in the chat we appreciate everybody watching Along on YouTube or on social media Kool-Aid tripping Alex says Rob will Nick Richards or Mark will uh presumably as a as a pickup or as a hold right now as you know I have already cast my lot with Nick Richards yes and Mark Williams was assigned to the G League recently so he’s presumably practicing there getting ready for a ramp up this is at this is a pretty hard question I mean I think if everyone was healthy this would be Mark Williams to me as like the clear number one and then after that honestly it might be Rob Williams I mean we I don’t want to bury the lead we got the news that Donovan kingan will be out about one to two weeks yep uh with a knee sprain so that makes Rob Williams the the true backup point guard or point guard Center um and the thing about Rob Williams he’s better for daily leagues right because you can yeah the the chance he sits back Tob backs or just gets injured but I don’t know I mean I know you picked up Nick Richard but just on face value right now with what we know do you have a preference between these three guys I I do think in the short term when no clling and you know Rob Williams does become pretty appealing the Blazers do not have a backto back if I’m seeing this correctly they don’t have another back toback until early January uh kind of a sparse month in general for Portland they don’t play a ton of games in in December but they play Monday Wednesday Friday Sunday this week then Tuesday Friday Sunday and then of course there’s the break for for the inseason tournament uh in early December which the Blazers will will not be taking part in um so that’s something to consider but that the schedule does line up well for Rob Williams in weekly leagues I I do think he’s probably the upside play I mean when it comes to Richards like the reason I prioritized him one I really need rebounds I I could use some blocks uh so so you know he’s been a guy that went in the lineup has been able to give you those he’s also practicing in the G League uh with Mark Williams I just think he’s A Better Health bet than Mark Williams like they could both come back at the same time do I trust Mark Williams to still be healthy two weeks from that point I’m not sure I do no I I don’t either unfortunately I do think this is going to end up I mean this is the is this the worst one two punch in terms of Center situations the in the NBA right now H off the top of my head yeah yeah I mean most teams I I I kind of like the combination when healthy I mean neither of them are are like high-end options obviously but they’re you know they’re Serv yeah just about every other team at least has a better starter if they don’t have a better backup I’m I’m saying more like is Portland and Charlotte the most annoying fantasy situations for centers in the entire NBA combined I mean Portland in general both of these teams really but Portland’s had so many injuries and illnesses and guys in and out I mean that still feels like a team where we don’t really know what their full rotation will look like and it’s like all right Rob Williams is now back for a couple weeks and then clling goes out right away Aton comes back I I don’t know there’s a lot of moving pieces there um across your various leagues Al so who are who are the guys you found yourself adding this week guys I found myself adding um I mean there were well I don’t I didn’t add him but I’m starting to get a little bit like I don’t know if I need to get yabu or not and just like deal with it because he’s been pretty solid and this is mostly deeper leagues right because he’s like a 20 Fantasy Point per game guy when he plays but this INB situation I mean how much do we even do we even trust it anymore not very much not very much I’ll tell you that um I mean it’s the Sixers are are verging on on disaster as we know and you know I think the the expanded playoffs are going to keep this alive for much longer than than it would have like five years ago right I think you know just kind of getting to that 10 spot is still going to be pretty manageable for Philly they’re coming off a blowout loss to the Clippers yesterday they did I would say almost blew out the Nets in their previous game so they at least got one win but yeah still dealing with swelling in his knee you know he was obviously ruled out through yesterday’s game it it just it really feels like it’s going to be tough to lock him in to weekly lineup Sixers don’t play till Wednesday this week uh they just play they only play Wednesday and Saturday so it’s only a two- game week in general for the Sixers but but after that they do have a four game week coming up then it’s the NBA cup uh then just a two game week so kind of a weird schedule to keep in mind with embiid I don’t mind grabbing Y yabu in a deeper League I know Andre Drummond was was ricked up in the League this week yeah I uh I I really don’t know how to handle that I don’t think Nick Nur knows how to handle it either uh some some other guys I found myself like looking at Malik Beasley uh in some streaming situations um you know Ty Jerome is having a having a moment I would say but I don’t know how sustainable that is T.J McConnell although he’s actually he was actually on an alarming among of my rosters anyway just sitting on my bench but with like the Ben Shepard news he’s going to be out for a while mcconell is going to be there and I think those are the the primary guys right now yeah we had a lot of moves on the margins in in some of my deeper leagues you know I like I said I added Richards I dropped E Mei uh Brandon pky was dropped Malcolm Brogden was added torian Prince was dropped Wallace yeah BR just I cannot believe that we have to do this banned him from fantasy I’m sick of it I don’t want to think about him anymore don’t want to think about rostering him but uh I actually did not check if I successfully picked him up in a couple leagues I tried to make a a bid for him but yeah start of the past three games 26 and 25 minutes the past two it’s it’s killing my Carrington stocks also I know I know yeah that’s the worst part I bub Carrington I’m still gonna hold him because I only have him in deeper leagues but I’m not I’m not starting him right now I mean maybe if you’re in a pinch in a Four game week but yeah that’s been that’s been the reaction to to Malcolm brogon you know rejoining the rotation is you know Bub Carrington out there but he’s playing Off the Bench you know the the workload has gone down the the usage rate has gone down as well so that’s that’s kind of tough um I hope at some point the Wizards just move on from malol brogen it makes no sense that he is on this roster right now um you know you and I talked on the on the Sirius XM show last week about the Warriors I I know you don’t have psky in the stake League uh but the the guy who did Ryan Paul our associate did drop him are you are you done with psky are you starting to shed your kaminga shares as well yes uh I’ve I’ve tried to drop kuminga multiple times in one of my leagues and the the Fab bid is not high enough for the other guy and so he’s just like still in my roster I’m like I can’t just please get this guy off my team um yeah I mean the fact that the you know psky and kaminga both cannot just they just can’t find 30 minutes psky can barely even find 20 minutes and their production is always entirely inconsistent the thing is kaminga even when he does quote unquote have it in a particular he’s just kind of giving you points um for the most part and then when psky doesn’t have it he’s giving you like zero one and one you know so it’s like how could you even you know there there are a like a ton of players on the waiver wire that can give you what psky is giving you on his best days there’s no reason to hold him just because he might have a good game at this point did you throw any bids out for Tai Jerome who’s been on a really nice run three 20 plus point games in his last four now we do need to keep in mind car ver has been out Darius Garland missed a game in there as well so there are you know there there are some caveats you know they they tend to play blowouts they blew out Toronto they blew out that shell of a Pelicans team last week they had a good match up against Charlotte so I didn’t want to jump the gun too much on Jerome but did you add him anywhere I didn’t add him anywhere essentially because of what you said which is I think a lot of this has been it’s been blowouts and it’s been his teammates being hurt and so he’s seeing extra usage and extra minutes I still think in a 16 Team league that he probably just should be rostered until he cools down I mean his shooting 60% from the field and 50% from three that just can’t sustain but I in deeper leaks you you just I take you know rocket ball it’s hot got a question about Aaron Gordon Kenny asks is Aaron Gordon worth a hold and any idea on his return date we we’ve had no updates on Aaron Gordon almost three weeks now uh from the Denver side of things they initially just said multiple weeks with that right calf strain I would imagine they’ll be careful with him they’ve been able to tread water just fine uh but Kenny says he only has one iil with him and Norman Powell thinking about dropping Gordon for Tai Jerome in a nine Cat 10 Team league I actually did drop Gordon in a league that I was in either last or second to last because my injuries were just I were not I couldn’t do anything about it and so my only move was to drop Aaron Gordon to to free up a spot and so I just had I just had to do it for the production my I mean I I didn’t want to because my concern is someone’s just going to have the spot to pick him up and the way how you know how thin the nuggets are as a team this kind of sets up for Gordon’s probably the best year of his career since he left Orlando and it was before he got hurt he was he was having the best year of his career so I think if you’re a last or second to last or something like that you might just have to because you need numbers at some point but yeah it’s it’s tough good question here from DJ he says do I drop kma for amen Thompson 10 team head-to-head points league so yeah this is a really interesting one I mean obviously kma not playing well you know I think he’s a little better suited to a points league right now because the percentages have been so bad he’s been you know he’s like 42% from the field he’s been awful from three and you know amen Thompson we’re getting the full amen Thompson experience these days man both he and tar e have been going off I think that move is probably fine I mean kba’s the more stable as weird as that is to say the more stable player just because he has a higher minutes floor and we’ve seen him do it before and he’s going to shoot better than he has been shooting although not like way better than he has been shooting so I I don’t mind it it’s um it it is a backend roster move like I don’t think this is the reason you win or or lose your your league but I think I think it’s fine honestly did get some injury news over the weekend Kate Cunningham missed a game on Saturday against Orlando Magic end up winning that game 111 100 uh does not sound like Kate is going to be out there tonight against Toronto they’re lisening him as doubtful Pistons also play Wednesday at Memphis Friday at Indie Saturday against Philly so four games in six nights for the Detroit Pistons very dicey situation in weekly leagues uh with with Cade I I don’t know that I would roll those dice I mean is there we’re getting some you know some questions here you know Jaylen Williams as a cade replacement I mean if obviously if you have might roster sure I I don’t know if you’re if you’re I wouldn’t really be looking to trade Kate Cunningham based on this it doesn’t appear to be you know a serious injury by any means but in terms of you know what is left for for the Detroit Pistons let’s say Kate Cunningham misses you know two or three more games I know you mentioned Malik Beasley obviously Jade iy gets a boost you know does that cause you to have any interest in dare I say Tim Hardaway Junior assar Thompson by the way available to make his season debut this week uh was technically available on Saturday but didn’t play yeah we’ll see how that situation ends up going uh but you’re playing on Cade I is I don’t have him in any weekly lineup league so it’s you know hard for me to say like easier for me to say but I would not start him I mean yeah he’s got a joint sprain in his hip I that just doesn’t feel like something you come back from after like two games to me especially with this Pistons team that’s not really going anywhere who am I interested in off of this um I mean Marcus Sasser played 21 minutes in the first game that that Cade missed um and the assar thing is is interesting I don’t know how actionable that’s that’s going to be um I I have my doubts as to how fantasy relevant assar will be this year even though I really like him but and maybe it’s only a deeper League thing but you know Sasser in the past when he’s gotten real minutes has has put up number numers uh we got a comment about dys and Daniels uh 121 project says Dyson Daniels was dropped in my League I assume it’s a pretty shallow league but even even in let’s say a 10 teamer I would grab dice of Daniels I know the Steels have by by his standards you know he had two straight games without a steal which is you know wild for him but then he had four uh in their last game against Chicago on Friday so I if D of Daniels is out there I would I would 100% grab him I mean especially in a category League where the steals alone plus what he’s given you in terms of blocks I mean that is just invaluable I don’t even know how that’s possible I mean I’m looking at his game log in my the only reason I can find is someone just like looked at their phone and was like eight points drop yeah you know they got a four- game week coming up and a four game week next week pick Dyson up in a four Team league do it uh all right we’ll hit a couple more questions and then we’ll we’ll talk about some players trending up and down uh Joe Bennett says I traded Keegan Murray for Deandre Aton will that eventually pay off uh probably I think Keegan Murray Keegan had a good night I think it was last night he scored 20 but I just don’t think he’s that great of a fantasy player I mean he’s kind of a one two category guy he’ll have his good games but then he’ll have his bad games and and I Aon I look I I do not like DeAndre Aon as a player in real life in fantasy I’m just as out as you can be on on DeAndre Aton he still puts up 15 and 10 every night and shoots pretty well from the field and I I think I would just rather have like those the bulk of those numbers yeah both have been disappointing so far this year I mean you know Aon his numbers are down across the board you know the field goal percentage is still fine but it’s at 52% as opposed to high 50s low 60s where it’s been for most of his career free throw shooting has been down although he’s barely getting to the line he’s taking like less than one free throw per game and we also have no idea how much time he’s going to miss he’s missed six games in a row he’s not expected to play tonight it’s a finger injury I I don’t you know normally things like this don’t last that long I I’m kind of a Keegan Murray hater uh I I think I would rather have eight and two I mean it’s I I don’t love either option but the thing to keep in mind with Keegan Murray is you’re really you’re really in it for the high volume threes and the rebounds and the rebounding has been great I mean he’s up like three rebounds per game compared to last year over eight boards per game that’s awesome but you know he’s he’s taking one fewer three per game than he was last year I think the introduction of D rozan to that rotation and and even Kevin herder who was banged up for much of last year has really impacted him he’s only giving you 1.7 made threes a game yeah I mean I the the nail in the coffin for me really is just so over the past five games Monk’s been out for all of them D rozan missed three and sabonis missed two of them and Murray averaged 11 shots a game and score 11 points um like Keegan has no he he just never raises his usage up he’s just not a player that when other guys are out they just give the ball to him they’re like do more for us it just he just kind of stands in the corner and takes his threes yeah good player uh not somebody who I I thought should have been drafted around like pick 70 75 where he was going in a lot of leagues but yeah good luck with that one um I don’t don’t like either of these guys Mur is probably a little more dependable he’s at least healthy but um you know if you’re telling me that that they’re both healthy for the next 30 Games I’d rather have DeAndre Aton all right before we talk some some risers and fallers over alerts on the injury front this week John Morant will be back in the lineup tonight against the Portland Trailblazers that’s big uh both Bradley Beal and Kevin Durant expected to return for the Suns on Tuesday against the LA Lakers so some some big positive injury news I want to talk about a couple of guys uh Rising falling of late cam Johnson is the first name on my list somebody who’s just been more of a thorned my side in the fantasy world over the last couple of years like really liked the player showed some signs early on in Phoenix thought he was coming off a pretty disappointing year last season uh but his minutes are way up I mean he’s averaging like six more minutes per game the scoring has followed he shooting 90% at the free throw line after being sub 80 last year uh really has just been on a nice run of of consistency which has not been the name of the game uh for the most part for cam Thomas 3.7 made threes per game at a 47 % clip over his last 15 Ken and Shannon have a have a running bet this season of who will be the best cam on the Nets in fantasy and uh shangan has cam Johnson and uh Ken has has cam Thomas I will say a huge part of Cam Johnson’s fantasy value this year is tied to his freeth throw shooting which you which you mentioned um they were actually Johnson’s a better fantasy player than than Thomas but when you punt free throw percentages it’s it’s actually basically the same the fact that that Johnson is shooting three free throws a game which is not high volume but that I said 91% is is massive and you mentioned his good efficiency in general um but to me this is probably you would sell high on this just I mean would you I I think so I think I would I mean it’s on paper it should be sustainable as far as the workload it’s just is he going to keep shooting 47% from three probably not I mean he is a very good three-point shooter it’s not like this is like wildly out of character but 47% I mean that’s you know like alltime best in a in a single season yeah and I I will say you know I don’t I don’t want to like bog things down too much with numbers but he’s shooting 77% at The Rim last year he shot 65% at the rim and you know so that’s really bringing his field goal percentage up high but and he has kind of a he’s 28 he has a a a history of injuries and he’s playing playing on a bad team better than expected team but a bad team I I think you could probably hold but I if someone wants to buy I would I I would look to sell so I I mentioned that list over on Yahoo as far as the the players that are rostered on the highest percentage of the best teams and in Roto leagues cam Johnson is in the top 10 he is number 10 number one on that list by a pretty good margin he is on 23.4% of the top 500 public league Roto teams Nia vich yeah Nia vich shooting 58% from the field shooting 46% from three I mean the raw numbers are about where they’ve been the last few years as far as points and rebounds you know just hanging around 20 and 10 he’s giving you about three assists but the percentages and and the three-pointers have been up the blocks are up compared to last year as well is is this another potential sell High situation or do we just keep riding it out I mean he’s doing what he’s done for the last decade it is a sell High I think only in the well I want to say only in the sense that he’s shooting above his head in threes but he is um but even if he shot normally from threes he’d still be averaging like 18 points a game and kind of doing what he did last year I think it’s just a sell high from his age and whatever the Bulls are end up going to do at the trade deadline if they trade him if they if he gets a mysterious back injury in March and he doesn’t play that much I think he’s I I would consider him a a sell High um but it’s I think it’s maybe a little more real than than some people might say yeah I think that’s fair I think that’s fair I mean he did shoot 29% from three last year so he’s up 17 percentage points zover year at some point that’s that’s going to come around but uh you know he’s probably not going back down to 29% you know it’ll settle somewhere in the middle but yeah I think that is somebody I would look to I would look to get off of at some point maybe not in the immediate future but you know I I think once we get a a more clear gauge of of what exactly the upside is for this team are they going to just chase a playing spot like they do every year most likely would they look to sell him you know if he goes anywhere else he’s not seeing 33 34 minutes a night you would think right so that’s something you have to keep in mind but he’s off to an incredible start uh you know we talked about am men Thompson tar een turning up as well um you know a guy who’s played well throughout the entire year but really of late uh he was coming off a bad game against Portland but still gave you two Steals and a block I mean the defensive numbers have been super consistent the rebounding has been great he’s getting to the free throw line I think the more frustrated they grow with Jabari Smith the better that is for tar e that that really is the key is is it going to be a good night or a bad night for Jabari Smith who I don’t remember if it was on this podcast but I I my new comp for him is PJ Washington oh um where he’ll just have he’ll score like three and then he’ll score 14 and it’ll be 12 rebounds and zero rebounds and then he’ll get a block um yeah e averaging 1.3 fantasy points per minute and you you know is in that mid 20s to Upper 20s range pretty regularly you mentioned he he’s his shooting has been a little poor lately but I think that’ll bounce back um yeah I mean I think this is pretty real I I just don’t see him going back down to seeing 18 15 minutes a game like he did for the first three three to five games of the year I think he’s just firmly in that in that 25 range now yeah yeah I think that’s fair um speak going back to that Yahoo list by the way so vich is number one cam Johnson is number 10 number two on the list not really surprising fron Vagner and you know a lot of this is it’s not directly correlated to like value versus ADP but I think that’s kind of one way to interpret the list I mean there’s an obvious reason why fron Vagner has has stepped it up considerably like literally since the the night of the vano injury but last 11 games for Vagner 28 points six and a half rebounds 6 and a half assists 1.9 steals uh shooting 47 35 88 in terms of the the shooting line I mean this is a guy that that gave you 1.1 steals a year ago like we knew that was somewhat part of his game but 1.7 steals a game out of fron vodder I mean I I felt like this year could have kind of gone either way for him like he’s young enough that you figured he would bounce back after a tough second half and a rough playoff run but I mean he has answered the Bell man he’s been incredible yeah the assists are huge I mean really it’s the assists with banero out the steals which I haven’t tried to dig into like are the deflections way up but the fact that he basically getting at least one steal every single game I think he only has two G yeah two games this year with zero steals to me that tells you it’s pretty real and pretty consistent and then the three-point shooting I don’t I don’t really know how to explain the 28% three-point shooting last year but he’s back up to 36% which was essentially his career average before last year and those three things combined you know have made him essentially a top 20 player and even when B Caro comes back I think he’ll be a top 40 top 50 player really consistently all right want hit one more guy and then we’ll we’ll get to the chat a lot of good questions stacking up there yaka purle what a run what a run for yaka purle coming off of a 19 rebound game yesterday against the Cavaliers his last five games he’s given you 235 two assists 2.4 combined blocks and steals 66% from the field uh at some point Kelly oin is going to come back and we’ll we’ll have something to say about this but that’s not going to happen I would say for at least another week or two you know he just started going through non-c cont work over the weekend you got to ride this out while you can man I mean maybe maybe this is the the true sell High because it this is the highest his fantasy value has ever been in his entire life um but at the same time it’s like it’s such a give and take right where it’s like you look at what he’s done over the last two weeks and you know realistically you’re not going to get back like a top 25 guy obviously for yaka purle um but I guess maybe the bigger question is how much of a hit does he take now with Barnes back and and perhaps more impactfully once oen is back in the mix yeah it’s you mentioned Barnes being back so in the five games before Barnes came back Perle was taking 16 shots a game and in the two games Barnes has been back he’s taking 10 shots a game yeah I this is another situation that that reminds me a little bit of vuvi where it’s like I would absolutely be selling high if I could um Perle has never played this minut this many minutes also in his life uh like he’s always like a 26 to 29 minute guy he’s playing 30 to 35 a lot of these nights the Raptors are not that good but they’re just playing him a ton of minutes I mean at the was that was him in the press conference before the year that was just like we’re not trying to win correct you know yeah so that there’s a lot there’s a lot making me uh concerned about purle so I think if I can trade purle and get like a top 70 guaranteed player back that I would I would strongly have to think about that good question here from Christian uh because this is a a player who is on my trending down list what should I do with Jaylen green Jaylen green got off to an excellent start you know two weeks into the year I’m thinking I might have missed the boat on a big breakout but since then we’re we’re talking now a 133 game sample for for Jaylen green he’s averaging 15 points four and a half rebounds 2.6 assists 35% from the field 25% from three so the the hot start all of a sudden feels like a a distant memory he’s only scored 20 plus in three of those 13 games he has been part of the issue here is he takes a decent among of mid-range jumpers and he’s been horrible at them horrible at he’s eight for 42 from the short mid-range um and like what do what do we do with him the I mean honestly I mean the fact that he’s still playing 30 minutes pretty consistently and eay udoka is just letting him still jack up shots and the rockets are winning games uh I mean I think you just hang on to him in a category league and a and a points League I Bean way more inclined to hold on to him in a points League you hold on to him in like a 10 maybe even a 18 points League because he’s averaging 30 fantasy points a game in a in a category League I understand if you’re a 10 teamer and you’re like ah you know his percentages are killing me I need I just still kind of tough to drop yeah in points it’s a little bit different but the efficiency has just been so brutal I mean he’s like 15 of his last 60 six from Beyond The Arc so it’s you know it’s the three-point shooting and the mid-range have just been rough for him but like you said the minutes have still been there for the most part he’s down a little bit uh compared to the beginning of the year where he was routinely seeing 35 36 minutes it’s been more often now capped in the low 30s but it it’s kind of what you sign up for I think with Jaylen green you know I we we know he’s capable of more we’ve seen it in in five to 10 game flashes but the consistency has just never really been there Joe asked D rozan or hero who wins that trade I think that’s G to being pretty close should be close Hero’s been better so far Hero’s been better so far and he’s he’s not I I shouldn’t say he’s higher in the offensive pecking order it’s pretty it’s pretty comparable I would say but um I don’t I don’t know if I have a clear winner on that to me that’s that’s a pretty even trade I would I would say I think so I would lean hero I I mean he leads the Heat and usage he’s kind of sneakily been their number one option and has not been a great start to the year for for the captain bamat bio uh who apparently does not want to be the captain of the heat very weird story that came out last week you know Butler’s going to be in and out rosier’s been hurt and has just been really bad when he’s been healthy um I I yeah I do I think like floor- wise it’s pretty similar you know the ceiling has been higher so far for hero but he’s also shooting probably a little bit above his level 47% from the field 42% from three but he’s taking I mean he’s taking routinely like in over half his games this Ser he’s taking double digit threes you know so I don’t I don’t think that volume is necessarily going anywhere no you’re right his his efficiency is going to come down but then I think that just you know if you’re in a category League this is this is almost just like a a threes versus um field goal percentage question yeah to an extent but I think it’s fairly even yeah it’s pretty close i’ lean Hero by a hair uh George asks marinin is on fire should we sell High what can you sell him for right now in a nine cat 12 team head-to-head League reluctantly I I have to say he is on fire uh of course right after I trade him he he starts playing well but yeah last five games 26 points per game shooting almost 60% from the field he’s giving you almost four threes per game the thing with marinin though he gives you nothing on defense he gives you no assists uh the rebounds tend to be good but are also spottier than they should be you know he’ll mix in a lot of like four and five rebound games more often than you would like uh but this is yeah it’s a nice bounce back from where he was early in the year where it felt like you might be taking a big loss there you know I’m kind of I’m down on marketing I’m down on this Jazz situation so I to answer the first question I would try to sell High the question is what could he get for him I mean are we talking like d rozan range is something like that I mean you you essentially triggered him for gobear yeah and and and some parts but yeah yeah and I think I think that I my opinion on marinan hasn’t really changed throughout this this season I think the the downside that we saw um I you know he was never going to continue playing that badly but you still have to worry about March and April and he is just a very you know you’re talking about nine cat team he’s just like an efficient scorer who rebounds like Nick said he his his stat line is not that diverse I think you could trade him pretty effectively for any player you believe will be top 40 maybe even top 50 rest of season and especially if that top 50 player would fit the categories that you need so if you’re like last in in we got some context here he says I need a big with rebounding and blocks punting field goal percentage and turnovers I mean field goal percentage is probably going to come with this if we’re talking about boards and blocks um it’s like could you get Jared Allen maybe you get zubach could you get zubach could you could you pry hartenstein away yeah I’m trying to look at our our rankings right now but that that sort of idea is is is I I think what you’re saying Allen I mean Jared Allen’s been the most consistent like top 45 to 65 ranked player in the world uh over the past three years so I think I think he’s a decent option there that’s a that’s a nice Vibe uh George also asks Moy or Miles Turner are those doable Moy or Miles Turner I could see someone I could see someone potentially giving up Miles Turner yeah uh for for Markin and Mobly I don’t I don’t think so that this the perception of Moy is just too high now with the with the Cavs playing well I mean I would rather you get Moy but I think it’s more likely you would get Miles Turner yeah David asks is what Brandon Miller is doing right now sustainable I dropped shuder for him yeah shudder has been been on the downturn in a pretty big way somebody I was pretty high on coming into the year look great for a couple weeks and uh you know the Nets are are kind of back to being the Nets and you know I I still think he’s going to be viable but obviously Brandon Miller is a a much better option I think you you made the you made the right choice picking him up in favor of shuder is what he’s doing sustainable is the bigger question and we’ll look at the last three games 29 38 32 points uh those coming against Brooklyn Detroit and Milwaukee so three pretty good schedule spots he’s taking a ton of shots in that span uh averaging 337 and four uh you know taking like 11 12 threes per game is the last three game stretch specifically sustainable no but something something close to that I I think is pretty sustainable this guy was the number two pick for a reason I mean he has the pedigree he has the talent they’ve also been without miles Bridges and I think that is the the bigger Factor here yes although they did just lose Grant Williams for the year and so you know that open that opens up some minutes and some usage for for Brandon Miller like you said the past three games is not realistic this is like a Tai Jerome situation where he’s shooting 60% and it’s just impossible for someone to continue to do that but I will say the most encouraging things from from Brandon Miller are the increased assists and the great defensive numbers I mean just on the whole season 33 minutes per game 1.6 steals point6 blocks and you know the steel rates may be a little inflated but like part of the pedigree was like this guy could be a Paul George type where he just racks up defensive like solid defensive stat so um like if you if I look at his fantasy ranking right now and I see he’s the 30th ranked player I don’t know if he’ll be that High by the end of the season but I think he’ll end up being a good value where we drafted him which is like around 60 oh yeah yeah I I think you’re going to get a nice Roi on that um you know we’ll see if the volume sustains once miles Bridges is back he was off to a bit of a slow start when healthy uh should I consider rotating Jeremy Grant into my lineup we we have had no Jeremy Grant talk on the Pod this year another guy him and Brogden add him to my list guys to abandon fantasy I man I mean he’s so I I think this question is sort of getting at like Grant had a really bad stretch from the 13th onward eight points nine points 14 points Five Points and then the last game which was against Houston he popped off for 22 points on 12 shots should you should you put him into your lineup I guess I mean he’s you could start him on a three- game week uh it’s a 10-man league yeah he’s more of a four game guy at that point if you need points that’s what you put him in there for if you don’t need the points you know see who else on your roster is is getting you the stats you need yeah I mean he he gives you almost nothing else like despite being a nominal power forward like he doesn’t rebound he doesn’t give you assist you know every now and then the blocks will be there if you hit the right week but I mean he’s I I don’t really know what what like this transformation has been with this game because I feel like early in his career he was this like you know kind of a poor man Shawn Maran type right it’s like he’s super athletic he finishes at The Rim he defends he could shoot some threes and he’s just decided like I I a scorer now and he’s shooting 38% from the field yeah the only two categories that he is above average in are points and free throw percentage so if you just you know if you don’t really need those ah no point yeah yeah all right um well we’ll jump the line here we got a good question about Zion Daniel asks Nick and Alex our beloved hoop Whisperers okay put putting that in my Twitter bio can we please talk Zion’s potential shutdown and implications for guys like herb Jones and evees Mei thank you yeah I mean there hasn’t necessarily been been word like word of a true shutdown but they said over the weekend that he is quote quote not close to returning um the Pelicans seem to kind of be throwing up their hands here we saw the the video of Zion’s new back tattoo in which it was revealed that he is in very bad shape uh I mean that was that was rough I that was one of those where I had to double check and see like is this current did somebody Photoshop this they did not it was current I don’t know man and then you know Zion also fired his agent over the weekend Brandon Brandon ingor By the way also did the same thing yesterday which is oddd and then there’s a report that the reason that he fired his agent is that they didn’t do a good enough job helping him Force his way from the Pelicans to one of the New York teams I don’t know I don’t know man um it’s just you know it it’s the same cycle with Zion over and over right whether it’s an injury whether it’s a weight issue whether it’s a commitment issue we’re going on like year five of this and I mean it it goes without saying if the more times Zion misses the better it is for for herb Jones I mean E Mei I I’ve kind of soured on him I liked him a little bit earlier in the season he’s just he’s not not been great he’s been banged up in his own right as well yeah um you know I I Mei has more of a floor in deeper leagues if Zion isn’t there but like to me there’s not much of a correlation for for Mei specifically I’m just like I I I think Mei is an interesting longer term player I I have him and have rostered him in a couple leagues and it’s just like if if he couldn’t do it when all these guys were out it’s just not going to happen this year I’m just like kind of out on him as a as a standard League guy entirely this year um um your broader question I I just don’t think Zion you just cannot trust Zion in any capacity I mean they said he’s out the earliest he could come back would probably be mid December he’s got multiple injections in the hamstring I didn’t even know they injected hamstrings I I I we’ve been doing NBA injury reporting for a decade basically and I didn’t even know people were doing injections on the hamstring um so in terms of like herb Jones I talked about Mei I think probably Trey Murphy and some other guys F into this category as well McCollum and Deon Murray I would just if I’m rostering any of these Pelicans guys I would just full out 100% assume and just act like Zion is now coming back I just don’t I it it may not be 100% like the smartest thing to do but why what evidence is there that he’s going to come back and play for any stretch healthy whatsoever that would be my bigger concern is I I I think we see him again this year but it’s is he sitting back Tob backs is he on a minutes limit does he tweak the hamstring two weeks in I mean the writing is is already on the wall there so I agree with everything you said Nuno Pereira says hi guys are mathine and Trey Murphy must roster players in a nine Cat 10 Team league was thinking about dropping pton Pritchard for one of them cheers for Portugal all right Portugal weighing in in the chat I I I think I would take either of those guys over Pritchard uh we did have some somebody else asked earlier oh right here uh just porzingis is coming back by the way he’s probable for tonight does that impact pton Pritchard obviously they play vastly different positions but just rotation wise does that make you does that make you kind of you know lower your your ceiling for Pritchard uh to answer the first question yeah I would I would definitely drop Richard for for mathine and or Murphy just whatever I I don’t think either of them matford probably has more upside right now but then both teams have guys that are coming back from injury that could impact it so I to me that’s kind of a dealer’s choice I I don’t have a strong opinion um does does uh does presing is coming back AFF fact Pritchard I don’t think that much maybe just from a usage standpoint slightly but you know you also have to consider that Pritchard is still out there in garbage time racking up a ton of points he I think it’s just as likely that it’s just fewer minutes for for the other centers like kayada down cornette down Tillman down these guys are not going to play every night and then how many games in a given month will porzingis actually play so I I think I would consider this a small downgrade like if if pitchard takes like a 10% hit to his numbers that would not Shock me but I don’t think he’s like an auto drop now that P that porzingis is back I would maybe wait and see a little bit so we talked some Charlotte Hornets and some Grant Williams earlier in the show uh but we could return to that here who should I pick up now with Grant Williams out for the the rest of the season obviously the assumption is that Williams Andor Nick Richards could be back in the next week or so they’re both uh kind of readying up in the g- league right now Cody Martin let let’s keep this to Hornets you know like how would you I guess kind of rank your your priority in terms of hornets players who might be available uh including your guy diabat I’m little worri about diabat with this Mark Williams and Nick Richards move but I’m I’m gonna I’m gonna hang on to diabat for a week and see what happens don’t I would not pick him up right now probably the worst time to pick him up is right now I I look I don’t trust Cody Martin to stay healthy but he can just put up decent numbers I I went to pick him up in a couple of leagues he’s gonna be really annoying both him and Caleb Martin is just like roll of dice for whatever their points rebounds assists are going to be but he gets good defensive numbers too and it’s just like a pretty solid I would say Roto player um but yeah the the fact that Grant was playing so much Center and now Richards and um Williams are appear to be on the verge of a return I don’t think there’s like a must pickup guy all right we’ll hit a couple more then we’ll be out of here uh Bowen Chen says what do you think about Nick Claxton just general thoughts on on Nick Claxton as a person hasn’t been good lately in terms of his his basketball abilities no they I think he’s just been dealing with injuries I mean he was he was limited was like a it was a hamstring earlier now it’s a back you know those those two things are pretty connected a lot of guys have problems with both and he just can’t really seem to ramp up that much I think it’s tough because the Nets don’t really have a great like pick and roll playmaker I mean claxon is not scoring on his own and he just needs to catch lobs and offensive rebound and um he’s not doing either of those consistently so I think you have to hold him but it’s it’s just one of those situations where I think it’s just going to be really annoying but it’s it’s hard to drop him okay we got a trade question 10 team points League uh our guy says he got Evan Moy and Anthony Simons traded away schruder and Julius Randall sure I like it yeah yeah I Simons maybe gets I worry about the shutdown risk a little bit for Simons but like also is shuger even gonna be on the Nets in March and he’s gonna play 20 minutes a game somewhere else so yeah I think that’s good when Emanuel quickly returns how would you rank quickly versus Julius Randall 12 team nine category League not looking to punt anything so uh the you the caveat here of course is once quickly is back we got the report I think it was Thursday or Friday last week that they said a return to game action is quote likely weeks away so we’re we’re looking at mid December at best for Emanuel quickly so we do need to factor that in um you know I maybe maybe the Assumption here is that you have Randall and you would potentially flip him for quickly at some point um it’s so tough I mean I think in a vacuum I I want to see the upside of a manual quickly with this Raptor team but he’s coming back to a team at some point that still has Scotty Barnes has yaka purle on a heater has RJ Barrett scoring 30 every night all of a sudden Grady dick and oai baji feel like better options like this this roster isn’t quite as Barren as maybe it looked like it would be coming in yeah I I want to say quickly has more upside but I just wouldn’t trust it I mean like Nick said I mean if you’re if you’re talking about like um Randall is definitively the number two option on this on this Minnesota team by significant stretch quickley is not definitively the number two he should be behind Scotty Barnes but then it’s like Barrett Barrett’s still going to get his 20 points it’s just like that that offense is a lot more it it has three primary Playmakers in it and quickly has not assera himself as a clear number one yeah I mean he’s only played like 60 Minutes on the year so it’s just it’s been really tough you know a couple of those games came without Scotty Barnes he’s played essentially 14 minutes with the Raptor’s actual roster and I want to say did was RJ Barrett out to begin the year I think I thought yeah so we really haven’t seen this fully formed so yeah Rand safer I mean the Timberwolves are like a depressing watch for me every night like they just don’t look like they’re having fun it’s not a roster that gels well but one thing about Julius Randall that guy’s gonna get his numbers no matter what that’s been the case throughout his career that’ll do it for us here on the Monday episode appreciate the great
