let’s go to this matchup Michigan and Xavier this battle uh Matt Cox where is our location here this is in Daytona if I’m not mistaken right or it’s somewhere in Florida or is it the Fort Myers tourn This Is Right For Myers tournament all right neutral floor they both won uh in in an earlier round game now play each other Michigan with Dusty m as the coach again they’re trying to get used to new lineup new Team Shawn Miller at Xavier short a short one and a half Point favorite is Michigan total 152 Matt Cox begin the discussion give me a thought on Michigan Xavier later tonight in Fort Meers Florida on the neutral floor uh great matchup I lean Xavier here it’s a team that’s sort of struggled coming into this event I Shawn Miller was on record as saying this team has a virus of not you say selfishness but they they really weren’t playing as together as I think we’ve seen his offenses look the last couple of years despite having you know categorically more Talent this season they brought in some really good transfers to bolster the perimeter and they got Zack freem manle back in Hunter back key Frontline guys ever banged up last season so like everything set up for this team to be you know firing all cylinders and they had some moments um in those first couple weeks that looked a little bit dicey looked a little bit dicey in that first half against South Carolina but then they really responded second half started to make some shots you saw the Inside Out balance I kind of think Xavier parlays that momentum into a win here tonight it’s a Michigan team that I love dusim may I love their pieces as well um I think they have bigger question marks rebounding and just for me on a neutral site uh when in Out I tend to back the team with that’s better on the glass there’s you know shooting um you know shooting issues your team goes cold you have to have a backbone to fall back on and controlling the glass winning The Possession battle is always a steady thing and I think the Xavier’s front line has looked so far I give a slight a slight Edge to X in this one again Michigan beat Virginia Tech uh Rody gaale had some uh big free throws they won the game in Fort Meers in the semifinal round here to now take on Xavier Corby any thoughts on this including the neutral floor the game against Virginia Tech was 7563 so my Memphis education tells me that was 138 in that game any thoughts on the total as well yeah look at a team that has two massive bigs in Michigan and I’ve texted Matt about this a few times my number just loves Michigan unders um I don’t have a bet here again it’s too good of a game some would say um but I just think inevitably this pace is going to fall down for Michigan Michigan has been able to run up pace first Miami Ohio who I wanted to bet an under Matt talked to me off of that um Miami Ohio loves transition that they’re they’re plenty fine with playing that TCU who’s went over like every single game Wake Forest who shoots only threes Cleveland State who stood no chance they gave up 101 so I think we’ve seen like the absolute high of this Tempo absolute high of this offensive set Danny wolf good basketball player don’t get me wrong Vlad golden good basketball player don’t get me wrong but do you want to play Tempo in a close game where you have two seven-footers I’m not as sure I think the efficient off offense and a smart coach who sees mismatches would would try to play the half court game so inevitably I think Michigan slows down from 121 probably to like 180 190 in tempo um so for the coming future I’m going to lean towards Michigan unders okay but what about tonight in this matchup against Xavier in their semifinal game Victorious over South Carolina that was a 7566 game if you’re curious about that so both teams are acclimated here they took a day off right in between and now they’re playing uh each other here on a Wednesday evening this one will be on FS1 at 8:30 eastern time tonight Dusty may obviously has golden the transfer from Florida Atlanta they got a couple of other transfers as well and again what about this point here that now we’re at the time in the season when you’ve played a fourth game fifth game sixth game you’re now playing a third time in three days in some of these tournaments teams get more cohesive the Pieces come together out of the transfer portal your new players recruits Etc you guys buy into that a little bit and maybe that means scoring will go up total will go up up a little bit any thought Matt on that I think the day off in between means a lot uh you know it’s sort of a known Market Edge is usually when you get you know the backto backs tend to matter for unders that’s been a long known angle that people bet in college basketball I think the day off certainly U helps overs helps scoring it seems like the teams aren’t as you know they’re not as tired they’re more they have more zest to push Pace if they’re into that uh but to you know to Cory’s point I think in a championship type setting you know it gets a little bit dicey and maybe a little bit more tight coaches are playing really to win the game as opposed to you know again a lot of these big programs these big schools I mean winning losing these games there’s not really a ton of downside right I don’t think Kelvin Samson’s sweating a ton despite the fact that he’s lost too close game like there are plenty of opportunities to get big Marquee wins so sometimes you see coaches just kind of you know throw the balls out and try a bunch of different stuff but in these championship game settings have these little mte you get more of a March type feel where the game does slow down a little bit more I guess to corby’s point you might see that tonight this is truly a one or two possession game between Michigan and Xavier and to your point that Alabama Houston game looked like a sweet 16 Elite 8 game on a neutral floor for March and it was in November on how they
