is this game that you feel like you can kind of Andes man no no no no no we’re not flushing you don’t flush when you get embarrassed you don’t flush when you gave up 145 points you don’t flush when you didn’t play hard you didn’t play with effort didn’t play with physicality I’m not flushing anything Russell Westbrook you know I mean he’s he’s vocal I mean but we need more than Russell Westbrook you I need Nicole yic I need Jamal Murray I need guys that have been here in that starting lineup to be vocal and you know tonight we got embarrassed I mean what what just happened is um and let’s be honest it happened tonight for four quarters it happened in the first half against Dallas so we’re 16 games in and we’re talking about effort all right I I was taught always to make sure you flush but Michael Malone is not flushing anything J as a former player how do you we’re not going there how do you decide which games you flush and you don’t you always flush in life okay let’s just make that clear but when it comes to basketball when you know your effort when you know your energy your enthusiasm for every possession is there no matter the outcome you’re cool with it but I do think that they’re really missing a big piece of their energy Aaron Gordon because he’s that guy for 82 games you’re going to get some type of motivational play from a dunk from a slash from a past he sort of brought that joy and I think they’ve been missing that Joy they missed yic for a little while you know for personal reasons now he’s back they Jamal Murray is still trying to navigate his confidence to be that player that we know he can be in the interim they’re missing that spark plug and I think that is why you don’t flush it because you have to bring it no matter who’s out there yeah I’m going second that on Aaron Gordon they they certainly need him back there was hope that he was going to come back this week it’s not going to happen he’s going to be out with the calf injury a little longer but Michael Malone you know what else you need stop playing games in LA and beating the Lakers and let the team stay theight there oh man La is cracking I used to live there respectfully to Denver I used to live there it’s not cracking so I know these dudes had a good time I’mma give him a pass on this game you know it’s it’s La you’re you’re funny because I played for a long time five years in Connecticut and anytime you hit the road my teammates will be I’m not outside type of chick certainties Miami New York that people step outside saw perk outside once in Atlanta Mark not when you’re trying to like you got to be professional your coach is not your coach is not going to give you a pass so early in the season big fell you know what I’m talking about what we talking about which city we a talking about nothing we talking about nothing we go talk about Denver and we go we G to talk about the Nuggets okay here’s the thing last night last night joic wasn’t Superman he still put up some pretty damn good numbers 227 and seven but it wasn’t the best player in the world numbers that he usually put up on a night toight basis so the question is if joic is having an off night which is going to happen in the 82 Game season who’s going to help him out I don’t want to keep Haring on Jamal Murray but obviously he got paid the big dollars and he got paid to be the robin to jic so yes he does have to elevate his game but when you look at the others right I’m looking at Michael Porter Jr at what point is he’s going to step it up he’s been playing pretty good shooting the ball average around 19 but I think it’s another leap he could take especially with Aaron Gordon being out so I’m looking at this nuggets team and I understand Michael Malone frustration but guys do y’all realize this we have started NBA today about six times just this season with coaches going on rant talking about the effort of their team or the spirit that their team had lacked the night of and that is a problem like what is really going on why wasn’t the effort there right you come off a Feelgood win in Los Angeles why wasn’t the effort there yeah I think they’re balancing a lot they’re balancing the idea of trying to be healthy and get this team whole and trying to peek at the right time they’re trying to balance also their aspirations for the NBA cup and all these changes that are happening this year but I do think I I definitely like Michael Malone calling his stars out because when a coach calls a star out they buil equity for that to be received to say yic as great as those numbers have been a lot of people consider you to be an MVP right now again we need a little bit more in an area that you can grow Jamal Murray we need to see more leadership and not necessarily excuses as to why we have a loss so I like him calling them out because this is a team that should be able to handle the highs and lows because they just won a championship two years ago it’s the inconsistency that’s the only thing that’s concerning they can struggle against a Dallas team with no Luca and then look the best they’ve looked against the Los Angeles Lakers and then struggle again it’s the consistency that they need to really figure out here it is Chef Chen let me cook let’s go let me cook Chef Chan is ready for Thanksgiving duty this Lakers Sons matchup now for the main course we have Legends who know how to serve LeBron James and Kevin Durant who are both top 10 all time in scoring and they’re still finding ways to get better with time you guys like my chef outfit okay as I break this down LeBron James here is getting a double screen off the handoff from Anthony Davis ad sets a flat screen you go under he is going to make you pay he is King this year at shooting the three 42% from three that is a career high Mark for LeBron James who already leads the entire NBA history in scoring now to the other side Kevin Durant this time gets a back screen so he can get jiggy with it to get to his mid-range he’s got a tough match up here freeze look at this ad the wild thing is only one inch separates them KD is a 49% field goal percentage when he’s in the danger zone which is his mid-range so obviously those guys they are the main course they are the dark meat they are the turkey you all love all of that right but now we have to get to the stuffing which this time of the year you don’t want it to be but it is right now pretty dry it has no seasoning in it and I’m talking about the defense the stuffing in this matchup because the Phoenix Suns they’re 20th in defense the Lakers it’s worse they’re 27th so this is an area for improvement for these squads this holiday season but good thing I brought something good for y’all there’s a little bit of gravy that brings the plate entirely together I’m talking about those guys the gravy that have that sauce I’m talking about Devin Booker and Anthony Davis Devon Booker man when you’re guarding KD you can’t come off of him and I talked about one mid-range assassin here’s another this is versus ad all right he’s able to elevate he’s averaging 24 points per game this season and we all know he’s due to be explosive when the game matters most but of course on the other side ad himself has been a tremendous bucket some people put him obviously in the MVP conversation here’s a quick pick and roll with LeBron James how you going to guard this this is very great action if you guys have slept on it he loves this left side of the floor and a beautiful dish off and guess what Too Tall Too Tall so no matter how you slice or dice this matchup before Thanksgiving these players that I have listed they are here to eat yeah the Lakers they have lost their last two games after winning six in a row the Suns they struggled a little without Kevin Durant but uh Chef thank you so very much for that breakdown this I don’t know if I look like a chef or a nurse a little bit of both in the Navy a little all of it uh Mr Spears who do you have more confidence in though as a threat in the western conference after that wonderful breakdown from CH is it LeBron and the Lakers or is it KD and the Suns you talking about cooking M KD was cooking he was cooking for first nine games he was 8-1 averaging 27 points he was the best player in the league for the first week and a half two weeks of the season and then he got hurt so I’m going to go with the Lakers what do you think Kendrick uh did you just call me Kendrick on National Television okay cuz look all right that’s that’s that’s strike two strike one was you and Sean talking about cranberry sauce go and anything we’ll have a conversation about that later no no no no no no no we’ll we’ll dive into that later into the show but look here’s the thing I’m with I’m with I’m with Mark if KD’s healthy I’m all in with the Phoenix Suns they’re my dark horse to win it all Kevin Durant was looking like the best player in the league before his injury now on the other side of things the Lakers they need help right and I think them being on this two game losing streak losing to the Nuggets losing to the magic it highlighted something it highlighted that they still need to address the problem at hand and that’s backourt play they got to have someone that could come and take the load off LeBron James right when you think about LeBron is doing at the almost at the age of 40 is he playing a high level uh at a high level absolutely right but can he do that 82 games and be able to be there for them if they be in the postseason to make a legit title run absolutely not they still have to get better at that aspect they still need to get more perimeter defense although I think cam reddish has been doing well look at this number and I’m not a huge plus minus guy but damn it minus 45 for LeBron James when he’s on for the Lakers when LeBron James is on the court I mean Haven seen it’s not part of it is who’s surrounding him at the time and what they’re doing but at the end of the day you got to take some load off the old man I’m just saying like there’s got to be a little bit of reality when you look at that number because LeBron James is only five years off of that number and he’s still putting up 23 points per game and the issue for LeBron James has not been the regular season or the Lakers overall he showed up in the postseason the issue has been the other guys that they have to get going so I agree with you on other people need to step up but LeBron like he’s different at like 39 about to be 40 averaging 23 still like we he ran off four triple doubles in a row he he he’s built for this go ahead b i me I mean I mean chenet we cannot ask an old senior citizen to be able to do this for 8 in the 82 Game season and in the playoffs they need to get him help and address the back court issues that’s all I’m saying man Anthony Davis has been showing up for the Los Angeles Le I Kendrick he mammed you this is just a little bit of a family affair here all right [Music]
