all right welcome back everybody to another deep dive you guys wanted the lowdown on what’s happening with a Vander Kane Red Wings forward yes the Red Wings forward of Vander Kane so we did some digging absolutely found some news for you so it sounds like he is going to be out of the lineup tonight mm with some kind of injury unspecified unspecified injury yeah they’re being pretty tight lipped they’re not saying a whole lot yeah and nobody’s really saying how long it’s going to be before he’s back in the game either no and it’s interesting because like you know we initially heard that he was missing practice and it was just a maintenance day yeah a maintenance day right which you know happens happens you know but now it’s like oh he’s missing games like it’s a little more serious and then Coach Lan you know the coach is just saying that he needs another day like he just needs another day to rest just one more day he won’t even commit to that though he won’t commit and he’s calling it dayto day ah so this is classic coach speak that we need to kind of unpack here I feel like oh yeah because dayto day like what does that really mean for a hockey player because like is that a few days is that a few weeks yeah could it be longer I mean what are we talking about here right and like it’s so funny because day-to-day really is like it’s such a broad term such a broad term it could be a very minor thing or it could be something that lingers a little bit and I think it’s just one of those things that it’s hard to really pinpoint you know what’s going on without you know further testing and stuffff so they just kind of use that as like a blanket term yeah so they’re not really giving us much Clarity exactly but they also did say like you know they don’t think it’s longterm so that’s good news for Red Wings fans sure but I guess we’ll see yeah um but another things he’s playing on this like oneyear $4 million contract yeah that’s right and like his production this season has been so much lower than last season oh yeah it’s a pretty significant drop like what was he at last season so last year he was like almost at a point per game really wow yeah he had 47 points in 50 games okay which is great which is amazing this season he’s only at 10 points oh wow in 20 games okay so that’s like half yeah more than half yeah yeah it’s a big difference that’s a steep decline yeah so how does this injury complicate things even further because he’s also trying to I’m assuming earn a new contract well yeah I mean think about it you’re a team looking to sign a player right you’re going to look at his age you know you’re going to look at his recent performance and now with this injury and his injury history and his injury history you know it’s kind of a risky proposition you know what I mean so what should Redwing fans be watching for I think the biggest thing is just like any updates that come from the Red Wings about you know the nature of his injury and like a potential return date I think that’s the first thing okay the second thing is to watch how the team performs without him in the lineup oh that’s interesting because you know if they start clicking and they’re doing well right then maybe they’re a little less willing to offer him a big contract even if he comes back and is healthy yeah because they might not need him as much exactly yeah that’s fascinating it’ll be interesting to see so much to keep our eyes on here yeah for sure all right well this has been another awesome Deep dive I think absolutely we uncovered a lot today so thanks so much for being here thanks for having me and to all you listeners thanks for joining us on this deep drive into Evander Kane situation stay tuned we’ll keep you updated more more deep do yeah we’ll be back with more deep Dives soon absolutely yeah we see you
