so I watched the Spurs vers Warriors yesterday and in that game we saw a glimpse of how great the duo of Victor wanyama and Stefan Castle can be and Castle has been really coming into his own as of late get this in the month of November he has two 20 plus Point performances six games with five plus assists he just looks like a winning player out there and the more minutes he plays the more successful the Spurs have been six times this year he has played over 30 minutes and the Spurs record in those games are 4-2 beating the Kings Thunder Jazz and now the Warriors and here’s the most impressive play from him yesterday up by eight points with a minute remaining one stop it’s over picking Steph Curry Up full court he initially gets beat but with the help he forces Curry to pass the Rock and as Steph tries to relocate he’s still glued on to him look at that endurance and stamina and he goes right through the screen with ease doesn’t foul and forces a pass which leads to a brick I mean how many times have we seen Steph Curry dust someone after passing in that situation Castle is not afraid of anyone he will guard multiple positions as well he was hounding Steph Curry all night long with no fear and here’s one of my favorite plays of the night as well that many won’t bring up so he got switched onto Draymond early in the possession showcase in his versatility Steph Curry then draws two leaving a wide open Lane for his teammate no worries you have an athletic 6’6 guard ready to protect the rim he’s a very solid secondary rim protector and he goes straight up forces a tough layup and then wbi cleans it up and then about 10 seconds later he walks into a deep three like it’s nothing to take the lead he simply doesn’t feel pressure so many clutch moments are ready as a rookie in the guts of a game he’s currently second on the Spurs in total fourth quarter points as well only behind wemi and in the plus minus category for the fourth quarter he’s a plus 20 but let’s appreciate the way he ended the third quarter it truly sparked the comeback he sets the screen for wemi catches jump stops and hits the midi he’s always composed and consistently likes to play off two feet it reminds me of someone I’ll get into that later still down by 15 he’s focused on the two for one I mean for a guy who has shooting concerns you have to feel confident in him developing positively when he looks so comfy pulling up from Deep while contested in this situation and then on the other end of the floor he gets the steal on buddy hee again slow up play off two feet Defender already contested now he can just go right up with it so a 7 17-point lead got cut to 10 points just like that giving the Spurs hope heading into the fourth quarter those are the types of runs you rely on Star players to make so many winning plays in big situations have been made by him already and remember I showed you the block then the three well before that he had this beautiful move to tie the game just a wicked left to right crossover very impressive he can do that with his weak hand and then he hangs in the air like Jimmy Butler to finish he hasn’t been the most efficient but that is common for a rookie guard especially one that needs to work on his jump shot but the one place on the court you can trust him is when he gets downhill he’s a very good finisher as a driver he’s shooting 65% at the rim and like I said he really gives me Jimmy Butler Vibes with the way he scores and the way he gets to his spots he really relies on his strength positioning and size and athletic ability just like Jimmy plus he’s Relentless always seeking contact he’s fourth on the Spurs with three free throws attempted per game that’s also good for number two among rookies that’s the thing about him he doesn’t rely on his perimeter jump shot if it’s not there you still can count on him to affect the game offensively but now let’s talk about wemi his process always isn’t great but he’s still dominating and the scary part is he clearly is not not anywhere near his finished product Spurs down by seven Warriors have numbers in transition don’t worry Victor counts as two bodies gets the block and then just snatches the next shot out of the air like that’s a normal thing to do then under 3 minutes to go they are up by six it looks like an easy layup nope that’s not happening around him but the impressive part of his performance yesterday was his five assists in the fourth quarter especially the two to seal the game Trey Jones gets deep into the paint finds wemi and look at how quick he is to locate The Cutting Harrison Barnes he has natural passing instincts already and it’s crazy considering his size and age then we got a flex action gets him catching close to the basket somehow he recognizes Harrison Barnes cutting and just hands it off to him both Steph and Draymond were clearly caught off guard because all they could do is reach late and pick up a foul and of course we know he loves shooting three-pointers some will say he falls in love with these shots too easily at his size and starts to settle but in the guts of the game he had a very clutch four-pointer I mean look at where he’s pulling up from and that put him up by two possessions late in the fourth quarter a huge shot and from Deep he’s finding his rhythm he started the year shooting 23% from three in the month of October but in November he’s shooting 37% on nearly 10 three-pointers a game 25 points 10 rebounds four blocks per game this month as well he has insane eye popping stat lines 34 points one game 50 points another seven blocks vers Utah nine assists versus the Warriors 14 rebounds versus the Kings and once again the scary thing is he still has no idea what he’s doing out there he’s out there learning on the Fly which will make you ask why is he not utilizing his size better I mean he has as many three-pointers attempted as two-pointers attempted but still lately the dude is producing at a top tier Allstar level in terms of production in just his second season so just wait until his game matures and he starts to develop some go-to moves go-to spots and things of that nature that’s all I got let me know your thoughts Below in the comments section
