vby down a man news that Cason prior is out for the season with the torn ACL that hurts Louisville’s front Court hurts Louisville’s depth we’ll get into the matchup from a Louis perspective Connor how does that impact the Cardinals and impact them in this game in particular um I mean I it definitely impacts them just moving forward right you you’d want prior you’d want his floor stretching ability at the four and five yeah especially at the five um and even against this old M team I think having having him as a floor stretcher uh could really help them I don’t know if it’s a particularly big issue in this game depending on which lineup they throw out there most of the time given how small Old Miss goes at the four mhm my guess was you were going to see prior a lot more at the five anyway with maybe like a Javon Hadley at the at the four a little bit more just to match the Dre Davis at the four for Old Miss um you’ve still got three other 610 611 guys on the roster just not nearly the same scoring threats that prior was uh but I I do think moving forward just just losing what he gives you from the ability to stretch the floor in a way that like Waterman kind of gives you that too um but Scott definitely doesn’t so uh you know when Waterman’s not on the floor you you don’t really have that in the lineup anymore which hurts uh but again for this game I think they were gonna if I mean if you wanted to match old misses scoring attack defensively you’re probably you probably wanted prior at the five more often with Hadley at the four mhm but when you know Brown Jones was at the four obviously prior at the four would have been a little bit more of a natural defensive fit what do you make of of this Lal team right now because they were five points away in a case and prire injury away potentially from winning the battle for Atlantis but that path included a blowout win over an Indiana team that might be absolutely no good an overtime win over West Virginia who had some big wins but so West Virginia team team picked to finish in the bottom of the Big 12 then he lost Oklahoma who was picked to finish next to last in the SEC got blown out by Tennessee so like they have some some good wins and some momentum but they’re not like the No Doubt fantastic wins what do you make of this team going into this game against Miss I mean they’re just the way they play is so high variant yeah I mean even even if you just look at the microcosm that was that West Virginia game it looked like West Virginia was going to control that game they had the lead Midway through that second half then Louisville comes storming back takes the lead then they kind of cough it up at the end uh and then they go on they outscore West Virginia by nine in overtime a lot of that has to do with being just a we shoot a lot of Threes we don’t make a lot of them type of team right now um and I think especially with uh prior gone you know that that that’s gonna continue to ring true if they go smaller at the four um but look I I think they they’ve got a Chuck Chucky heurn is a solid point guard not not great he’s not gonna be a national championship contending point guard but he’s a solid enough point guard I think to put Louisville in the mix uh behind the top two teams in the ACC for like that third or fourth spot uh Terrence Edwards obviously um you know an excellent scoring threat uh was at James Madison has I think struggled from Deep so far this season but past two years at JMU he was you know an above average three-point shooter y so I think that comes around um just just it’s just one of those team like this is the they look maybe not to the same degree in terms of ceiling but they look kind of like a poor man’s kraton Al of the last couple of years where you know you’re just you’re waiting for that shoe to drop even in game like I was waiting for the shoe to drop even in the game against Indiana to be frank with you like I was just waiting for them to start missing yeah um because they play solid defense they force a lot of turnovers they get out uh they play Fast uh and then they settle for a lot of three-point jumpers and if they make them they win if they don’t they they lose that’s that’s what it boils down to right they are 13th nationally in three-point attempt rate 298th in threo percentage that tells you the spread there uh for the variant you’re talking about with Louisville let’s talk about om Miss because we can talk about the same kind of who this team is they didn’t play anybody before this past week uh Colorado state was the only top 200k PM team that they played in K State chickson at 111 have BYU good BYU team beat them in overtime then you play Purdue a good Purdue team but you lose to Purdue by two at the buzzer game that you you could have won I think this Old Miss team is one that we are expecting or waiting on a breakthrough under Chris beard this game has a chance to to help serve as that but we’ll kind of see where we’re at with this team they basically the rest of the month uh after this have lynen wood Southern Miss Southern and queens for closing on conference at Memphis so this is their last chance to really make a statement before we you essentially get to the new year and SEC play which is a gauntlet do you have any kind of belief in this Old Miss team being able to make a statement in this game like how do you stack them up given the inconsistencies of their non-conference schedule to this point yeah I I think with ol Miss um it is we’re not going to know if this is going to be a statement win until we see Louisville the rest of the year especially without kashan prior like if Louisville continues to play well they finish top four in the ACC um they’re competitive with Duke and and North Carolina uh they can maybe knock off pit um and finish as like uh you know this is going to be a quad one road game for Old Miss um but it depends on if it’s like a solid quad one or if it’s a you know maybe Louis Louisville could very well fall outside the top 50 right like just the way they play [Music] um we’re gonna I think it’s going to be a game where right now is GNA feel like a statement but is it going to be a statement win in two months I’m not sure I I I think that’s fair I think for that reason it’s kind of important for to win right remember last year undefeated through non-conference play and nobody really believed in them and for good reason they they fell apart if you’re looking to get some belief behind you and like kind of like fan based support behind really like Louisville winning and covering a four and a half point spread are you on the same side of that you think Louisville wins and covers four and a half or you going the other way I go back and forth on this game cuz I do I do think that what Louisville does so well defensively isn’t really something that I’m trusting to phase M Miss I think they’re number one right now in turnover percentage offense they just don’t get turned over if they get into a three-point shooting battle with Louisville they shoot the ball better than Louisville right now uh that said their defense is atrocious yeah they they turn you over but if they don’t if they can’t win at the point of attack they give up easy looks and so uh you know to me it comes down to honestly this game is probably decided by heurn um if he can play above average point guard in this game and and get everyone involved for Louisville and Terrence Edwards can find his shot and they continue to defend at a high level give me Louisville um if all Miss can win the turnover battle I think then you get into some very sketchy territory for Louisville uh I hate I hate taking like the the winner but giving the point like I because four and a half isn’t quite wide enough where I’m confident being like Oh Old Miss is gonna lose by less than four right so I think I’m on the side of taking Louisville and minus the points okay but I do think if we’re talking about an Miss win I think we’re also talking about a relatively poor Chuck Chucky hburg game give me the Old Miss money line give me the Old Miss money line quite frankly he talked about their ability to take care of the ball and also Force turnovers Louisville some of their variants is caused by the fact that they turn the ball over at a pretty high rate they’re 225th nationally in that combined that with some poor shooting we saw how that snowballed against Tennessee for Louisville this season at home I don’t think it’s going to be anywhere near the same kind of game and yeah Miss has struggled on defense this season I trust Chris beard to figure that out at some point right especially with with a veteran group like this team is I think Miss comes in handles the ball plays some better defense Louisville still got to try and figure out the power situation right they they should be okay I think long term but that that’s a that’s a key
