e e hey what’s going on everybody this is Robert Murray here it is a solo podcast because Adam we rib’s uh internet is down and it’s not working so you guys are stuck with me today I appreciate you guys all tuning in I was not here on Monday because I was under the weather still under the weather today but we are fighting through it to bring you guys some content because it’s baseball offseason you got to fight through it a little bit uh I’m not being placed on the injured list by any means we’ve got plenty of stuff here to provide for you guys um we uh we also are nearing the winter meetings which I’m extremely excited for it should be an absolute blast I will be landing in Dallas at about uh late Sunday night and it is going to end up being just pure chaos meeting with all sorts of different agents Executives Scouts players you name it so it should be an absolute blast but let’s preview it let’s uh because we got a lot to talk about because there’s a guy named Juan soda who’s still unsigned and that market is going to be the talk of the winter meetings even if we don’t even know if he’s going to end up making it to the winter meetings because there’s a there’s a a shot that he could sign beforehand I firmly expect him to sign by the end of the winter meetings for sure um but as far as Soto’s Market goes uh Boris is on the record and telling reporters yesterday that they’re in the process of starting to eliminate uh some suitors um we are not sure exactly what or what teams have been eliminated at this point but as Ken Rosenthal of the Athletics said the bidding is over $600 million and it is going to be one of the richest contracts in baseball history and my guess as of this point and it’s been this way throughout the entire offseason is my guess is he ends up going to one of the New York teams um the Mets are extremely motivated led by Steve Cohen um to sign stto uh the the obviously the Yankees uh they traded for stto last year and they want to retain him and my guess is a it comes down to those two I’m not ruing out any of the other teams that are remaining in there um I do think um the Red Sox like their interest is sincere the blue jays’ interest is sincere um I still have those same skepticism about the Blue Jays and their chances there um especially considering their lack of long-term uh Outlook in terms of what Vlad Jr and B bashet contracts look like so I’m like as I’m as I said I’m expecting it or thinking could end up being one of the two New York teams that’s been my guess all offseason I’m staying with it um but I do think the soda sweep Stakes is coming to to coming to an end or it’s coming to like a close within like the next week to 10 days in that ball park there so I’m as soon as I I can confidently say this once soda ends up going off the board uh the market is going to be pure chaos and we’re going to end up seeing plenty of these other guys that come off the board immediately following that after so I’m anticipating this could end up being maybe one of the one of the busier winter meetings that I’ve had in recent memory which is always exciting for me um but one move that did end up happening was um a roll this Chapman going to the Boston Red Sox that happened yesterday morning and he was a player that the Red Sox they prioritized this winter and they really wanted to upgrade their left-handed relievers in in the late Innings of the bullpen because they end up getting Justin Wilson earlier this off season and now they get a roll as Chapman and Chapman is getting a pairing with Liam Hendricks in the late Innings and I think that was a um a good move the Chapman had a pretty strong Market this offseason he got a deal similar to what he ended up getting last year uh with the Pittsburgh Pirates it’s only a one-year deal and in my opinion there’s no such thing as a bad one-year deal um so this is going to be like the Red Sox are going to still be plenty active this offseason uh as we’ve said on this podcast before they remain very active looking for starting pitching help whether it’s in free agency or via trade uh they’re involved in the SoDo sweep sticks they’re involved in plenty of other things so the Red Sox are far from done there um and let’s see let’s what else do we got here uh there is one question that I did want to address from Drew who was uh asked this in the allstar channel in the Discord give me a second folks um but he asked like with higgy going to the Rangers what exactly does this mean for the Padre’s chances of getting a catcher and to me I they are they’re like I would view them as possible suitors for a guy like maybe a Gary Sanchez or even like a Danny Jensen type and I’m like I would I would think with Travis darno and higgy both off the board and they’re being limited options available in free agency that could that to me could end up being a market that um could end up moving quicker than some others here because I mean you have Jensen who is a really strong option you have Sanchez uh who ended up having a really nice year in Milwaukee after that like the options kind of end up falling down a little bit you have Carson Kelly you have um Tomas Neato you have I mean some of these other guys as well so with the limited options there I would not be surprised at all if um if the Padres or if the Padre’s ended up getting aggressive in that market and if some of those other guys come off the board sooner rather than later but another some other teams that are looking for catching help from what I’ve gathered Toronto Washington the Cubs the Padre the Padres the Red Sox the Reds the Orioles the Nationals and the Tampa Bay Rays so there’s plenty of teams that are looking for for catching help there is very limited options available in free agency so to me that could end up being a market that moves sooner rather than later um and then the pitching Market as well um we have had plenty of different Boris clients come off the board um throughout the entire throughout the beginning of the offseason here and I would anticipate that continuing to be the case in the coming days and the coming weeks uh I think one of the guys that I know who has had a pretty strong Market this offseason has been sha manah he has garnered pretty significant interest and that comes as no surprise whatsoever considering what he ended up producing in in New York he ended up switching up his arm man Le and we have we saw him take off and there’s been a plenty of comparisons between him and Chris S and obviously we just saw s win the the national league sa Young Award and I would expect his Market to really pick up if I mean it already has it’s been very active so far this offseason I expect him to land a very strong multi-year deal um and he’s going to end up being he he’s going to really benefit from signing a short-term contract last off season because he’s going to be in a real strong position to cash in this year uh but one p pitcher who has signed is Frankie Montas and he was a guy who a lot of Executives were really high on at the trade deadline and we really got to see that um even in the offseason as well because his underlying stuff and his underlying numbers have teams convinced that there’s a lot more in the tank that he has not yet to really untap here um and to me he is that was a kind of a deal that was in line with what I was expecting in terms of his in terms of his contract give me a sec um but as far as as far as Montas goes um he is going to be one of a few moves that’s made in the um in made in the Met’s rotation because they they need multiple options there they can they’re far from done there um but as far as the Mets as far as the Red Sox as far as a lot of these teams go that are looking for starting pitch ing they’re not going to make like those big splashes until Juan stto comes off the board and then once stto comes off the board they’re going to have Clarity in terms of how exactly they can end up pursuing some different options here so that’s um once Soto comes off the board I just firmly expect all hell to break loose um I’m seeing a lot of different people asking about the Angels here um and Vincent you’re as consistent as they come in this chat I respect it um as of as I’ve said consist consistently on this podcast they’re they’re looking at every different option whatsoever um so I would just just just know Perry is casting a very wide net in fre agency and via the trade market um last I’ve heard nothing is close but um that can always change in one phone call so that is that is the news that I can provide there as far as Cubs news uh jet is actively scanning the market the Bellinger stuff in of them shopping Bellinger is real um nothing was close there but I can see once um once stto comes off the board whoever ends up losing out on stto they could possibly end up pivoting um to a guy like Bellinger or maybe some of these other options in the market here um let’s see some of these other questions here gar crochet I still think he’s a great fit for the Boston Red Sox he is he’s going to end up commanding a a huge trade package in return um considering his overall contract and his level of performance and the fact that he signed for multiple years um and I think the Red Sox have the best chance of matching whatever it is that the white sock want in a trade for for crochet um so I I think there’s a a fair chance he is traded this off season but um sorry folks I’m struggling over here this is rough um but uh but yeah I think there’s a fair chance he’s traded this off season um I I sorry guys I got I got to cut it um but I appreciate everyone who’s tuning in for this podcast my voice is really hurting um but we’ll be back here on Friday hopefully I’m feeling better um but I appreciate everybody thank you so much
