The Chicago Bears have made history. For the first time in over 100 years, the Chicago Bears have fired a head coach during the season. Dysfunction has been glaring in recent weeks, with the loss to the Lions on national television highlighting the issues. Thomas Brown, who just became OC after the firing of Shane Waldron, will become the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

n [Music] [Music] what is up everybody Welcome in this is an emergency version of the Chicago podcast when we talk about the Chicago Bears because we have Bears breaking news I in the middle of the work day I am in my pajamas I was planning on having just a relaxing Friday post Thanksgiving and the bear said just kidding we’re going to make history the Chicago Bears if you have not found out yet this is still breaking this just happened um the Chicago Bears have for the first time in their over aunde history fired a head coach midseason Matt eberl officially is fired and is no longer the head coach of the Chicago Bears um huge news um what’s even crazier is I actually said yesterday that although I didn’t think they would fire him on Thanksgiving um I said that I would be surprised if they let him because he was due to talk at 9:30 a.m. this morning as he does after every every post the day after a game and I said that if they were going to fire him he would not be having his presser in the morning now there were reports from media saying that while they were waiting normally they get a zoom link um because the the games right after the the interviews right after a game is usually through zoom and they said that they normally get a notification of the zoom link beforehand um like a few hours beforehand and up to 30 minutes before the interview there was nothing they were reaching out to the Bears PR and they were hearing nothing in return which at first gave some indication that maybe something was in the works however Matt Eber flu showed up and he did his interview and he was asked multiple questions about the Bears about will you be um do you see yourself coaching the rest of the season and Matt uberl came on and said I am confident that I will be coaching the Bears for this upcoming game against the 49ers and then literally you know and then he he met with Kevin Warren and Ryan poles after the interview which he does once again every day following a game and within I don’t even know I feel like it was less than an hour after um meeting with Ryan PES and Kevin Warren he was fired and the announcement came out um per Adam shefter obviously one of the most reputable sources in the NFL that Matt Eber Flo is officially fired as the head coach of the Chicago Bears so of course in Bear’s fashion they did fire Matt eus and make history in doing so but they also had him go up and do a press conference knowing that they were going to fire him a mere hour later I think that was actually kind of insane and not fair to Matt eberl in the slightest I will say in a way I feel this is obviously the best for everybody involved even including that eberflus because this dude knew he was a dead man walking he knew that he was getting fired he KN like you could see it in the postgame press uh conferences after each loss he knew it it was the atmosphere in the room um but I will say that the way this was handled is typical Bears fashion they didn’t handle it well um they should have never let him go up and speak in front of the media media knowing they were going to fire him and obviously they knew they were going to fire him because he was fired an hour later so um I think that was a big blunder on the Bears part and a big screw up um and honestly L it’s not really fair to Matt eberl um but this is where we’re at and Matt eberl is officially fired and Thomas Brown who as we know is the current offensive coordinator who was the passing game coordinator and then became the offensive coordinator after Shane Waldren who was the offensive coordinator was fired we need like a ven diagram or something going on here after Shane Waldren was fired Thomas Brown became acting offensive coordinator since then the offense has found a lot more success they’re still not crazy explosive but they have definitely turned a new leaf with the new OC in charge and now within the same year the same guy who was already promoted once offensive coordinator is now going to become the Bears interim head coach head coach okay I don’t know my accent really just came out strong there so that means that Thomas Brown got promoted twice within the same year it also means that he is now going to be calling plays as far as we know he is going to be calling plays while being the head coach of the Chicago Bears for the first time his first time being a head coach while trying to develop a rookie quarterback this is going to be a lot on his plate um but all that being said I think it’s honestly I I originally said maybe hire Rich maybe promote Richard Hightower the Special Teams coordinator to be the interim head coach in this in this in the event this happened but I think the Bears are seriously considering Thomas Brown as a head coaching candidate and I think them promoting him to head coach in this event is a sign of that because this is his trial run um the same way we’re excited about Ben Johnson who’s the offensive coordinator for the Lions of potentially becoming a bears head coach next year he also has no head coaching experience he also would be very raw coming to the position we know he’s a good offensive coordinator but is he a good head coach is he a leader of men this is Thomas Brown’s chance to have an audition I mean this is his chance to um to prove himself and make himself a strong candidate for the Bears as the next head coach of the Bears and as much as some people might not like that because there’s fancier out there at the end of the day if Thomas Brown and cayb Williams are connecting that is the absolute best scenario because Caleb Williams our rookie quarterback has now had both his offensive coordinator and his head coach fired within one year he didn’t even get a full season with either coach and those are two key coaches in the development of a rookie quarterback so if there is a possibility in which we do not have to put Caleb William into a brand new system get to know a brand new get to know a brand new head coach if there is a possibility that Thomas Brown can be that guy that would be the best case scenario for Caleb Williams and I think that is the Bear’s mindset and why they promoted him to interim head coach it is a lot on his plate it is a lot of change in a short amount of time for him but this is his trial run this is his audition for head coach of the Chicago Bears and holy cow this dude has to be living a dream and living a nightmare at the same time but I’m I I’m honestly excited to see how it plays out I’m nervous I’m nervous for Caleb Williams I’m nervous for how this affects the offense because if he is still calling plays he’s no longer going to be able to be in the booth he’s going to have to come down to field level because he’s head coach now um he’s going to be in charge of now calling the offense while also managing the game while also checking on defense special teams all for the first time in the middle of a season so he has no time to prepare no practice runs during preseason he doesn’t get any of that um so this is going to be very difficult for him but if he can overcome this and perform well I think it’s a very good indication of what he could do with a full off seon to actually get his bearings and get his staff that he wants in this building and um build more of a connection with Caleb Williams so oh all that being said this is a lot this is a lot and um it’s crazy and um I’ll get into some comments here before I before I keep going on my on this rant here but this is this is insane um history still thrives your dream came true earlier than expected definitely earlier than expected like I said the Bears have never done it so I it felt different it felt like something was going to happen but until we actually saw it I wasn’t going to believe it until I see it you know um Alex is planning the parade as we speak they finally asked him after he talked to the media this morning that’s crazy I will say as exciting in a sense as this all is this we need to remember that this is actually terrible like this is a level of dysfunction of an organization that you absolutely should not have had you know all offseason Ryan poles was interviewed and people asked him you know like the Bears have a history of not developing rookie quarterbacks they have a history of how H like putting the rookie quarterback in a situation where he has a new head coach and a new play caller at their second year in the NFL and having to start everything all over again and Ryan poles got defensive and said that this is not the old Bears they’ve done everything to put Caleb in a good situation Ryan poles has a lot to answer for because now he has put Caleb in arguably one of the worst situations than any of the other quarterbacks have went to because at least they got a full year with their coaches Caleb Williams is going in with a with with nothing with nothing so this is a complete dumpster Fire by the CH Chicago Bears a complete failure by Ryan poles because he was the one who chose to retain Matt eberl he was the one who hired Matt eberl to begin with he was the one who signed off on hiring Shane Waldren as the offensive coord coordinator instead of Thomas Brown he is responsible for a lot of this and the Bears have you know I I hope when Ryan pul speaks to the media that they Grill him and they are not you know um polite because he has a lot to answer for and this was the absolute worst case that could not happen and it’s happened and the only saving grace right now is that they’ve lucked out by having Thomas Brown in the building who so far has proven to actually be a compet coach um and that’s the only thing you can hang your hat on right now and have hope for is that we see that continue as as this the rest of the season remains and he’s not getting put in a good situation also with the schedule the schedule is extremely difficult we have the hardest schedule in the NFL for the second half of the season and we’re on a six-game losing streak um it’s going to be very hard to win these games regard regardless of external situations and now this makes it even worse so as exciting as it is that the Bears finally For The First Time in Forever made the correct move and did the right thing um it’s very disappointing that this is this is where we’re at um emergency meeting it is emergency meeting made sure I was here for this yeah I’m curious what other fans in NFL are thinking right now I mean I know some fans have joked that they hoped the Bears kept Matt Eber fluse because they saw you know the Bears have talents on this team to be quite good and the rookie quarterback is showing a lot of promise and the head coach is holding them back so you know I’m curious what uh what this looks like from me outside looking in Sydney the way the Bears did that this morning leaving Eber flusa dry was just wrong you cannot tell me that the organization didn’t make their decision following yesterday’s loss oh 100% I think this I I I agree with you for sure um this was a Time coming they knew they were doing this and I think I think if you’re reading it between the lines of the reports coming out from media and everything I think that this was decided on I I think Ryan PS and Kevin Warren knew that they needed to do this and it wasn’t so much convincing Ryan PS to get rid of Matt Eber flu as it was convincing the Masis the owners of the Bears that this needs to be done because because in the hundredy year history the Bears have never done this because the Masis don’t like firing people mid-season um because at the end of the day the Masis are good people they’re good people and they mean well but to be a manager a owner of the and a banana Fel team you have to be a little bit Cutthroat and you have to make tough decisions and they’re not they’re not those type of people they’re they’re stereotypical little Midwestern people and um I think it wasn’t so much Ryan and Kevin Warren being uncertain I think it was convincing ownership this needs to happen and I honestly think the Bears the Bears players speaking out and it happening on Ash and media was the best thing that could have happened because it put the Bears in a very uncomfortable Spotlight where they had to have a response um and I think that was the best thing that could have happened for for the Bears to convince the Masis that needed to be done to be honest ah maybe what happened this morning meeting was bad in the last STW I just I I’m like very confident that that was already decided before the meeting but obviously I’m not in the building I don’t know that for certain uh Jason sorry I can’t St Long almost done with lunch break but congrats the bad man can’t hurt yall anymore hopefully this doesn’t help you guys beat my niners in a few weeks um I hope it helps that’s this upcoming week that’s on not well I guess not this Sunday next Sunday bears are coming to town we’ll find out that’ll be his first uh Thomas Brown’s first game as the head coach early merry Christmas to Bears fans it’s something it’s something it’s uh like I said it’s weird because you’re excited and you’re glad they made the right choice but at the same time this is just a level of dysfunction that I don’t know I I I I it’s weird it’s a weird thing to be excited about Ron the team will get a boost and play better now because both walr and Eber are gone I do think it’s natural players get a boost of morale when a head coach gets fired and they you know have a new guy in the building I think for the offense there’s definitely going to be a spark the defensive guys don’t really know Thomas Brown that well because he works on the offense but if you listen to his press conferences and listen to the way he he speaks um he he’s a leader he he can convince you to run through Rick Wall um so I really do think that he’s going to win over a lot of the defensive players by the way he talks because it is a stark contrast to Matt eberl and uh I I don’t think it will take a lot of Buy in um but we’ll see after yesterday’s game personally I believe this is the right decision oh 100% am Quin we’ve been waiting for this yes we have uh Brown was doing well with Williams now he has other responsibilities away from Williams I don’t see this as good it’s definitely it’s it’s a question mark you know it’s can he do both and that’s a lot to put on his plate and that was the concern about putting him as head coach but then again if you want to consider him for the head coaching job this upcoming year this is his best opportunity to prove he can do it because at the end of the day whether it’s him whether it’s Ben Johnson whe whether it’s anyone else coming in who’s never been a head coach before they they you know they may be good coordinators like like Matt flus he’s a really good defensive coordinator he’s not a good head coach and so you don’t always know that that translates over so this is he’s getting an advantage to other coordinators and being able to show that he can be a head coach dude went from passing game coordinator to offensive coordinator to head coach in less than three weeks yeah it’s crazy it’s it’s insane I’ll say this Bears fam still have no trust in Kevin Warren or Ryan poles why was blue is still able to speak this morning I’m agreeing with you I don’t know and that was a blunder Dolphins fan here feel bad for you guys that and that we couldn’t be the Packers for you both our organizations are dumpster fires yeah I will say it was depressing after the Bears loss watching the Bears Packers uh I mean watching the Packers Dolphins game last night on the live stream seeing the Packers kind of just annihilate the Dolphins it I was I was pulling for you Dolphins I was pulling for you this is crazy 100% the second they flashed the news during the Colorado game versus OSU I thought about Alexis in her pain was poles really responsible for H hiring Eber flush I keep hearing that Eber flush assign no so Ry so they conducted the head coaching S search before the GM search which is backwards however when they um when they hired Ryan poles they told him that he is allowed to expand the coaching search he does not have to stick with the people that um that the Bears organization and the people they had involved picked he was allowed to expand the search and he chose Matt Eber flu um he chose not to expand the surch and he chose Matt eberl and then he chose to retain him this past off season instead of getting a new head coach with the new quarterback so he definitely holds responsibility today is the first start of first day of new start for the Bears be happy I think the or organization heard the cries of the fans this time around we’ll see how it all works out we will see what do you think about Williams not be able to stack the ball for 20 seconds well he was sacked and then he was trying to rush the team to the line of scrimmage and they weren’t there until they got down to 18 seconds and then he uh changed the play because the play he got they didn’t have enough time to run and he saw the time and realized they only have one play left because no one’s calling timeout and he snapped the ball and tried to do one last Hail Mary attempt so I don’t you know he’s a rookie quarterback and he did the best he could the head coach should have called the timeout as soon as he was sacked as soon as he was sacked and that sack wasn’t on him I the the edges got completely beat bad actually the team Outlook is up right now Morel will be up and I expect the Bears to play some good football for the rest of the year just because flesh and Walter are gone there’s definitely a chance that the morale boost really helps the team cuz like we said we have talent on this roster so if maybe all the the morale boost is all they need to just really go out there and execute and and you know have a head coach call an efficient game but we don’t know we don’t know if Thomas Brown can do that but we’ll see we will see H yeah they did do they did do e flu sturdy they definitely did um was not fair was not fair to him for sure I I I don’t understand I don’t understand the handling of it they could have just postponed the the press conference I don’t know why they still went forward with it that was that was insane right Jamie right decision God sorry right decision horribly handled if you’re finding someone firing someone or even think it’s a possibility then you don’t have them speak to the Press you postpone it exactly and that’s what the Press kind of thought was going to happen because they weren’t getting communication that he was going to speak and then they still had him speak anyways doesn’t really make any sense sorry my throat’s getting scratchy flu was awful with the staff hires from defensive coordinator was dismissed another coach was yeah the other running back coach was let go Shane Waldren um and that falls on plls too you know under pll’s watch he’s now had two offensive coordinators fired and a head coach fired and a complete rebuild of the offensive staff that are now all going to be fired again um that’s all under your watch Ryan polls just throwing this question out there the Bears weren’t trying to get in your Stadium would the E flu firing have taken place yeah I think so I think it because it happened on national TV in front of everyone and the players were calling out the coach I think new stadium or not I don’t think that had a factor in this at all um nobody say three times we come back um but I do see some I want to read some stuff from uh Courtney Cronin here because she’s been relaying she’s a reporter for ESPN and obviously covers the Bears and does a really good job and she has some very good Insight here on on some of the things the past like 24 hours um so first of all we have the statement official statement from president CEO Kevin Warren on Matt uo’s firing remember Kevin Warren was the red herring here and the one where we said if he is going to get fired maybe it’s because we finally have a new president in charge perk Evin Warren I support Ryan pes’s and I support Ryan poles and the decision that was made this morning we understand how imperative the head coaching role is for building and maintaining a championship caliber team leading our players and our organization our fans have stood by us and preserved through every Challenge and they deserve better results our organizational and operational structure is strong focused aligned and energized for the future obviously um this type of message is typed out for them to make them look good um I think you could definitely argue on if your organiz ational and operational structure is strong focused and aligned um just don’t think that’s the case um but it’s the way this is worded makes it sound like he is saying that this was Ryan P’s decision um so Kevin Warren has said that he would stay his Focus was more on the background of things and that he would leave football operations to uh Ryan poles but that that being said um it does sound like from here that he left the decision to Ryan poles and Ryan poles was the one who ultimately made the decision to fire um Matt eberflus um another thing from Courtney Cronin she’s saying something of note from yesterday once media was allowed in the Bears locker room after a lengthy cooling off period Kevin Warren and Ted Cruz who is the special adviser to Warren and the Bears Chiefs administra administrative officer hung around longer than I’ve ever seen them do following a game Warren spoke with several players as they gathered their belongings and headed to team buses which I haven’t seen to this extent following a win or a loss have to wonder if those were words of assurance that the decision makers and the organization would soon try to write the ship after six straight losses and I did report um I read a report uh about this yesterday during my live stream um during my live watch of I believe it Wasing the Packers game that when one of these reports came out that Warren was hanging around in the locker room speaking with um players and with Ted Cruz and I said that that was of note because that that is not typical and I’m losing my voice my God and so it kind of goes to show that that was of significance and this was obviously something that um they were paying attention to and um they were communicating with with the players and I think they heard these those postgame interviews and they said we need to get a handle on this um but I think she has another one here Ryan poles this is the other statement I wanted to read Ryan Po’s statement on Bears firing Matt Eber flu this morning after meeting with George and Kevin we informed Matt of our decision to move in a different direction with the leadership of our football team and the head coaching position I thank Matt for his hard work professionalism and dedication to our organization we extend our gratitude for his commitment to the Chicago Bears and wish him and his family the best moving forward so obviously a totally generic blanket statement there nothing of relevance um I am curious when they’re going to do a press conference because press conferences are typical after these types of events um so I am curious when they’re going to do when they’re going to do that um but I it does make you almost wonder if ran pules a little bit on the hot seat or not um like I said a lot of this happened under his reign as general manager so it does kind of make you wonder um but we will see um but it having Matt Yu speak and then an hour two hours later firing him does not sound like um a structured organization to me but what the heck do I know right Alexis did you see on the NFL YouTube Channel’s coverage on the Bears final few minutes of the game they used a female sports caster to make a video like you do it’s so similar to your commentary really like how uh send me a link because I like like how I do playby plays during the games or like um make a video like you do interesting are they copying me are they are they seeing me and copying me they could have just hired me but send me a link if you have it or I’ll have to look it up um that’s interesting that’s very interesting um the NFL copied your format with an imposter to God interesting I’ll have to take a look at that bears I’m on to you uh saw someone in a peral live say Eber is German for a male pck and flu means River I German to know the fact maybe Rome can confirm but if true his name better as Pig River than Eber flu okay that’s crazy that’s a crazy fact there right um yeah e stood there like a dummy waiting for the time out that was crazy per ins Ider from Relentless Mikey polls potentially wanted to do this after the P game but was told to hold off I could see that if there’s truth to that I could see that being true I mean like I said I don’t think it was a matter of polls being completely ignorant and thinking that eberl is the right guy for the job I think I think um after the Patriots game it for sure became obvious that he was not the guy for the job and like I said I kind of think that it was more so convincing the Masis than it was Po’s uncertain of what he wanted to do and I think like I said this happening unfortunately it’s embarrassing for Bears fans but this happening on a national stage was the best thing that could have happened because it really skyrocketed the issue and Eber is a male boore oh okay so he was close he was close hey there how are you doing um it’s Crimson oh P can go too even if he didn’t hire flu he kept in last January well that’s that’s the thing that’s that’s part of the the the discussions is you know is Ryan poles is also partially responsible for this he is the one who oversaw all of this he was the one who approved The Hires he was the one who reinstated Matt eberl knowing he had a rookie quarterback you know it’s Ryan poles has a lot to answer to and whether it’s during the press conference that he will do it some point or whether it’s the end of the year press conference whatever it may be he’s he’s got he’s got to answer some questions and uh and it is it is interesting to see if we think he will be on the hot seat or not I don’t think he is I I don’t think he’s going to be fired but I will say if he this is going to be the biggest head coach and offensive coordinator hire and is in ire life so we’ll see best news I heard all day new coach sadly the bear cycle continues yes unfortunately lost in the sauce here for I mean not really lost in the sauce I think we’re all well aware of it but as excited as we are about the changes at the end of the day this is the same old Bears rearing their ugly head when we were promised it would be different when they were making changes when they said that they were you know confident in in their hes in their and their evaluation process this is where we’re at this is where that got us so same old Bears Cycles continue that polls adamantly denied would be the case praying we get Ben Johnson next year I think um we’ll see I think he’s a very good offensive coordinator and obviously I would be excited but like I said there’s no guarantee that he’s a good head coach and keep in mind Dan Campbell is the head coach of the Lions and they’re the Mantra of the players the mindset the way he coaches is why that team operates the way it does so like Ben Johnson is not Dan Campbell so you can’t expect that same type of energy to come to the Bears and um I think you need to evaluate that um and like I said Thomas Brown brings a different type of energy and if and if these next few weeks he’s able to really prove himself I think it’s in the Bears I’m not saying it’s a for sure thing but I think it he has to be very seriously considered for the head coaching job um to try to keep consistency for Caleb Williams and the offense um and the defense honestly if they get used to him Chris head coach is responsible for making sure the team and QB is coached up and ready for situations just like this one they were clearly not prepared 100% 100% is this clickbait or have your dreams come true not clickbait the Bears have officially hired Matt Matt eus I keep wanting to say Matt naggie I think because I’m having PTSD um the Bears the Bears have officially fired Matt eus so not quick bait it has actually happened um that’s where Kevin Warren comes in my estimation I think he’s the Catalyst yeah I potentially um Ben Johnson doesn’t want to leave Detroit and I think he and I heard he may not even want to be a head coach that’s possible I think he’ll be a head coach um I I do question like as much as everyone says Ben Johnson would come here I do question if he would actually want to come here after all the organizational blunder but also um you know we’re a rival of the Lions and I don’t know if he wants to you know because he obviously really cares for the Lions so in their organization I just I don’t know I don’t know if it’s a for sure thing you know it’s like of course he would want to come here we would pay him and he would work with Cayla but he might not he might not want to be uh the head coach of the Bears and looking at this blunder can you blame him right now um Stephen A Smith’s partake on Flo’s performance was well done interesting yes Kevin Warren did not hire either of them that is very true he was hired after them um because Ted Phillips retired um not because he was fired but I want Brian Flores I don’t think that would ever happen um he has too much controversy with him and um I don’t think the Bears and Masis would want that and on top of that he has an ongoing lawsuit against multiple NFL teams and whatever team were to take him on would then have to be like basically enemies of all these other owners of other teams because there’s an active law your head coach has an active lawsuit against them and I just don’t think the Bears would ever get themselves involved in that um the mcis would never want that type of drama on their name as funny as that sounds with this situation but when it comes to that they would never do that and they would never want someone who has um like a history of being you know um having accusations and stuff against them um get Mike Rael I don’t know I don’t know I don’t know if that’s the I don’t know if that’s the the move um I think he’s a good head coach but I really think we need someone with an offensive mind I really do um we’ll see they wouldn’t even let me ride back home on the plane I’m sorry uh I hope you’re doing well but you know what you have a nice mansion on the lake so maybe you just go and Lounge in your hot tub or something for a bit are you streaming the game today oh I forgot is there a game today wait what game is today uh ah shoot there is a game today yeah I guess I probably will be I did not realize there thank you for reminding me whoops I have lost track of the days because of the holiday um but let’s see here sword of the spirit I’m praying for a good Bears team next year so the Rival rivalry can come back I know in your lifetime there hasn’t been much of one that is very true and very unfortunate but we will hopefully hopefully have a rivalry back and we’ll see we play the Packers at the end of the season and uh it’s going to be a new head coach you never know you never know um Ben Johnson will have plenty of offers probably with option to draft his own quarterback potentially potentially potentially right the sign in the background yeah that’s very Bears coded and thank you this is a bear from the 1980s back when the Bears were good but uh yes they have yes they have um so who takes over OC Judy Carrie Joseph I don’t know I don’t know who takes over as OC and uh I I think though Thomas Brown is going to remain calling plays I I I don’t know though they haven’t officially said anything this all just happened so things could change but I think um I think that Thomas Brown will continue to call plays and be head coach I’m pretty sure but I guess I don’t know that for certain yet but who is going to be now the inum OC I don’t know um we’ll find out we will find out I feel bad for the team Caleb deserves better than what he’s been given for sure yeah I agree um Caleb and the entire Bears team the entire offense that they all deserve better the defense everyone deserves better the Bears fans deserve better so I’m I’m with you um we yeah everyone deserves better and I think this is a Time coming thank God um but yeah it’s uh it’s a change that needed to happen and as exciting as it is it it just makes more questions on the status of the Bears going forward on the plus side the Bears might finally have a quarterback that even they um I don’t know I don’t even know what word to say even there um Tom Foolery can’t ruin um because Caleb Williams has still managed to find ways to improve and um yes he has his rookie moments and it’s been a roller coaster can you blame him with everything else going on around him but even through all of it Caleb Williams has proven to continue to improve and be a pretty damn good quarterback um so I think all things considered we’re definitely on the right path with the quarterback which has never happened for the Bears and um I think it’s a very good sign that even through all of this Caleb has managed to improve managed to play well and he stayed positive if you watch his press game conferences after these brutal losses he’s he’s going to the podium and he’s talking very like he’s very calm he’s very collected he’s still saying like go Bears at the end of his at the end of his sentences like he’s still he’s still here he’s still present um I’m sure he’s not happy but like he has a good head on his shoulders and I think I’m very excited about the direction that we’re going with the quarterback and um if anything that gives me a bit of confidence that he can handle you know a new head coach he can handle an OC change he can handle it and ideally we don’t even need as much as I would love to have a top head coach we don’t need a top head coach we just need someone competent and I think Caleb can take it from there but um I I am very interested to see what happens with Thomas Brown I think that’s going to be Talk of the rest of the season is you know is Thomas gr Brown going to be like head coach candidate material and I think we won’t find out till the end of the season um so we’ll find out uh what did you think about that efu Zoom press conference 9 minute before his firing terrible terrible terrible that was terrible management I don’t know why they didn’t just cancel the Press conf conference I really don’t it’s almost like they forgot it was happening and they were like ah we just let him go out and talk forgot about that I don’t know what that was I don’t know what that was should polls be fired not sure how confident I feel I I agree with you he’s made a lot of good decisions but also all of this has happened under his watch I don’t know how confident I feel in him anymore either but I don’t think he’s fired I think he’s given another run um I think he’s given an opportunity to get his head coach officially because now he will be there for the entirety of the head coach search compared to when he was first hired um and you know he’ll be able to try to write the ship and uh I I I don’t think they fire him I think they give him that opportunity yep Thomas Brown has a side coach tryouts that’s exactly what it is he’s this is his trial run and we’ll see we’ll see what he can do Caleb will be good he just needs a better head coach in time to develop out the mistakes it takes time and patience yeah and the mistakes he’s making holding on to the football that was a given he was playing a lot of herob ball in college and a lot of rookie quarterbacks hold on to the football it’s a thing but um and he’s trying to make something happen you know he’s trying to be a playmaker and I get it and um the accuracy issues honestly comes down to footwork like and I don’t in in college I don’t think he was ever taught footwork and his rookie season clearly no one ever was teaching him footwork so I think the number one thing if I was going as a coach into this Bears organization I would be working with Caleb Williams only on footwork the entire offseason um because I think we’ve seen he can fit the ball in extremely tight windows and I think some of these inaccuracies are honestly footwork related and not being on the same page with the timing of the routes and miscommunications with receivers on where he wants to throw the ball versus where the receiver is being taught to run the route and they’re not aligning um so I’m not overly worried about accuracy stuff because I think it’s very obvious a lot of it is footwork related and can be fixed um but even still look at his stats even still with all of that he is uh performing pretty well even with the the four games where things weren’t going well three games um looking at PS is entire body of work I don’t think it’s positive he’s had a great trade with first overall and not much other success I would say he’s done well with managing money and and player acquisition and um for the most part most of his draft has hit obviously no GM is going to be 100% perfect on that like you just never know but I would say for the most part most of his draft picks have gone well um but yeah there’s definitely some question marks with him too for sure um but we’ll see we will see um Caleb can’t step into his throws that’s why an o line is so important yeah also the o line he has no o line to throw with so that would help a lot too um but oh sorry I was reading a different comment whoops I don’t think P has a bad GM but he absolutely has to get head coach hire right this time oh 100% this is going to be the biggest hire in his life of his life for sure yeah the old line doing Caleb no favors yeah that’s got to be offensive line and defensive line has to be the biggest upgrades this season for sure for sure um if PS messes up this tier again he should get fire to well I think he will be if he if he hires the wrong head coach he’s gone for sure without a doubt um I just want to see if there’s any other news coming out to share here before we wrap up um let’s see um oh wow Diana Rini I just spoke with someone in the Bears I spoke with some in the Bears organization what happened after last night’s game was very overwhelming in terms of emotion and frustration for everyone one player described it as absolute disbelief and then someone else said something I’ve never been part of in my career that’s awesome um wow and I do think for the record I do think Thomas Brown if the Bears don’t hire him as head coach or offensive coordinator next year or something another team will I think he will be an offensive coordinator head coach for another team next year um and that’s why I think it’s also the Bear’s mindset of give him a trial run and if he’s if he does well if he is leading this team to wins I find it hard to believe they’re going to let him walk especially if he has a relationship with Caleb um we’ll see but like I I would be surprised but this is getting ahead of ourselves of course but um there’s a chance there there’s a chance but we won’t know we won’t know until until the end of the season if he can end the season with a win against Green Bay that would be huge that would be huge um but he’s got to get some more wins under his belt first to really make it worth it um but we’ll see we’ll see but I do think that is is going to be the wrap on the emergency podcast here I I wanted to obviously address the breaking news because this is huge news that Matt iberl is fired Bears have never done this before and a lot of change is shaking up and the Bears have 10 days now to turn things around and uh go and play the 49ers so the Bears are going to be
