basball is dead rest in peace there’s really no major news because I feel like thanks to uh Joe’s segment the Tik Tok segment like we were like the first Outlet to talk about the golden at bat rule like I I didn’t know that that was being discussed by Major League Baseball but that was one of the the perks of having Joe on this podcast is uh he was on top of it Dallas I had no idea that was actually a real thing I saw it I legit was like oh onion keep swiping like this is not real no it’s real I don’t think it’s gonna happen but like the discussion is real and I think everyone started talking about it in the days since our last podcast but like we talked about it on our last podc podcast we were kind of ahead of ahead of the curve on the discussion yeah it’s a um aren’t we it’s something and not odd at all not shocked at all that a lot of people are not terribly excited about it they’re just not and I know that there’s been some comparisons drawn to how other sports um how the games play out when it comes to crunch time you know there’s been comparisons made to putting the putting the ball in your best player’s hand on the on the court in the NBA and and that can happen a guy could take over the last quarter a guy could take over the last two minutes of a game outstanding you you take it to the grid iron the ball inevitably touches the quarterback hands every time which is why the idea of making him your best player is a really solid case for having success because when it comes to crunch time we’re going to be running this two-minute drill who do we need having the ball every time our best player so the NFL can sort of rely on that exchange at its most pivotal moment at the Pinnacle of competition and baseball doesn’t offer you that readily but if we’re stepping back what you’re thinking about is well the guy on the mound could very well be in the middle of a complete game performance shutting this other team out and the guy at the plate who is The Last Hope for this team could be a guy who just showed up in the big leagues an hour ago got dressed in a hurry cuz he’s off a plane from 3A and then ends up turning around a 98 mph fast ball from a guy who’s given up a hit today and now he becomes this hero he becomes this guy who bursts onto the scene but if we have this golden it bat roll there’s a solid chance that that guy never shows up never gets the opportunity and so for a sport that’s played over an entire summer as opposed to just once a week or twice a week maybe three like the NBA you you you need to have multiple opportunities throughout the season for you to be introduced to somebody you didn’t know because they capitalized in a pivotal situation as opposed to just continuing to hand those moments to the superstars how mad would you have been if you lost your perfect game on the golden that bat rule oh in the ninth inning well put it like this what were they gonna do run Evan Longoria back up there the [ __ ] tried to square and buttt in the fifth inning he had no hope and he knew it love you Longo um no but um yeah that would have sucked that would have absolutely suck because I would have been like like in all seriousness if I’m on the mound and I’m like [ __ ] Longo again I Gotta See please really why why this is not fair yeah I would that would be [ __ ] terrible that would suck a lot you’re kind of funny though I mean I well because you’re gonna have the guy out on the mound just just pissed just [ __ ] everybody every like [ __ ] the guy on the m is you in this in this exercise I think yeah and that’s me that’s me out there going are you [ __ ] serious like we all know that I should not be in this spot right now why you doing this to me can’t you throw me a [ __ ] bone here just let me face the next guy please yeah I mean I’m not like I’m not like a baseball purist but I don’t I don’t like the idea of like how the ripple effect like how much it would change but like I said like the point that I landed on was this this rule like I love it for the bananas it’s a pass from me uh for Major League Baseball but let’s keep the conversation going like I like the idea that they’re thinking of new and exciting ways to make the game better um but this rule in particular is going to be a no for me well and I I I realize that Baseball fans particularly hardcore ones are like in it is ingrained in them to hate any rule change at first blush right like I and I there I’m sure I am on record as having initially disliked ideas that I came around to a year or two later uh maybe even on this podcast um but I think the distinction with this is that I still viewed those as fundamentally tweaks to the sport like the pitch clock re in something of a problem that I think we all agree uh was happening um and is better now even if the pitch clock maybe a work in progress still but overall I think the product is better um the B the bases thing uh you know the the Buster posy rule um the the turn at second base all of these sorts of things are tweaks to the game as it exists in my opinion this rule is fundamentally changing how baseball Works how the game would play and I know that not an appeal to the record books is not appealing to everyone but I think this would light the record books on fire in a way that I just don’t think you could come back from um if that stuff’s meaningful to you and I just it is a gimmick it is a it is a fabric tear I think in a way that I just don’t view any other rule that uh that the Manfred era or even the sea League era uh attempted to implement or ended up implementing it’s just on a totally different plane the this is no there there’s no strategic implementation here outside of going this is the biggest part of the game I want to use my best player that is logic that’s that you’re not revealing anything you’re not like introducing this crazy notion to the game and to the sport like all right what if we told you you could have your best player up at the most pivotal time of the game uh yeah that’d be great but we know that because that’s not how this game has played that that’s that’s just not something you can Bank on strategically so we have to play this game in a way where we try to get that guy up to get that next it bat because in doing so we could very well be changing the complexion of this game that we’re trying to win so in an effort to get our guy up if we’re successful there’s a solid Chance The Game’s complection changes because if we fail then we’re out the inning is over that guy does doesn’t get his it bat well it just like when you said when you brought up the NFL and the NBA earlier it just struck me as like this is a square peg round hole thing going on because like those sports are basketball is an individual sport or or a team sport in a way that baseball is not but baseball is also a team sport in a way that those other sports just can never be and I don’t think that attempting to elevate a singular player into these positions over and over and over again I don’t think it would work in a way that would benefit the game or benefit that player necessarily even over the long term like like just obviously this is more anecdotal than anything but just like play out in your mind a situation where like an established star player is like is more or less torn down from a public relations p like media standpoint because they are often put into these situations and fail or something like that and I know there are the exact opposite cases that would emerge as well but I just don’t know like I I don’t think the net benefit would be anywhere near Great enough to Warrant basically shaking up the game board now this becomes for me a very interesting conversation from a statistical and an analytical perspective when we start to evaluate players I have to ask the Nerds who are thinking about this why would you why would you want your best guy up there is it because there’s runners in scoring position and is it because you value someone who can drive a run in so are you telling me you value guys who who can create those type of runs in those moments so if this guy’s a clutch hitter and the argument is that the clutch Factor doesn’t exist well then why would we continue to try to put somebody in this spot if anybody can do this what’s the value in this and if there’s not a ton of value attached to guys who can consistently Drive runs in why are we creating a rule to provide that opportunity for somebody so it’s kind of like well you’re spitting in the face of everything you’re telling us as staticians if the RBI doesn’t count or if the RBI doesn’t carry the weight that players believe it does why would we then be trying to generate a moment in our game to capitalize on a moment that you’re telling me doesn’t really matter much because it does matter that’s why and we know it does and we try to cutely put that statistic off to the side like it doesn’t matter because you’re telling us that really anybody can do that if somebody’s out on second base okay well if that’s the case then we don’t need the rule to make sure your favorite player is up there in that moment right because remember the RBI is not that big of a deal and anybody can do that and it’s just a matter of the other teammates getting into position so that one lucky fella can capitalize right that’s how RBI work is somebody got lucky that somebody hit a double and they get to have their at bat with that runner on second see it doesn’t make sense we all know how important being able to take a quality bat with runners in scoring position is especially late in the game so what does this do this request or just this conversation for the rule in my opinion starts to shine the light on the value of guys who play the game in the moment who know how to hit behind a runner who know how to drive the ball the other way who know how to work in it bat that’s what you’re looking for and you find that action in your Superstars more times than not which is why you want that dude up in that moment but how is that Superstar born he has to be able to have those moments early he has to fail in those moments and learn from those moments so now you’re going to be taking that opportunity away from everybody else on your team essentially handcuffing yourself telling yourself and the other 25 guys on this team there’s really only one dude for this moment here and if we just so happen to get lucky enough to put him up there you need to know that none of you are viable options it’s only him what kind of message does that send I’m just curious about like the the mental gymnastics that’s going to that I mean the rule is not going to come into play but say it did like the mental gymnastics that would come from this rule of like is it treated like your closer where you you know you have a set closer and this guy goes out there and he saves you some ball games but up he’s blown three out of his last four appearances so now we got to entertain someone else it’s like well we’ve got our golden that bat guy uh he’s 0 for his last 17 with 11 strikeouts and golden that bad opportunities so you know Aaron judge guess what now Juan stto is our uh golden that b guy so I I don’t know it’s I think it’s interesting the the the mental aspect of it um like how to managers and in front offices look at something like that the bat would have to be golden that they’re swinging during that at bat like let’s say let’s say put let’s just a hypothetical scenario put it together Luis Aras and CH Otani are on the same team there’s only one answer yeah and if there’s guys on base there’s only one answer but if there’s not guys on base is there only one answer yes well why would you use the golden that bat with nobody on base maybe to get something started why it’s a hypothetical and it’s already terrible but that’s that’s why that’s why we’re having this conversation is because the mental gymnastics because like Otani in the playoffs right if there’s nobody on base or if there’s a guy on first base then Otani or if there’s a guy on first base or second base otani’s the guy because what was he [ __ ] 19 for 22 or whatever it was with guys on base or in scoring position so the matchups like do you do you plug the guy in who’s got the power here or do you plug the guy in because there’s guys on base who can put the ball in play man I don’t know but all I know is that you guys need to download the underdog fantasy app um it’s the greatest time out to Y that feels yeah shout out uh that feels like a uh maybe a five touchdown performance for Joe burrow but that’s a trap game for Joe bur is what that is that’s a [ __ ] trap can you have a trap game at 4 and eight yeah oh yeah yeah okay yep that’s it that’s and this is it this is it right now the bingles seems you have some mental issues on your team if there’s a four Trap game uh tough look you’re about to get [ __ ] you’re about you’re about to have that Cooper wave just crash all over you I mean Dak Prescott basically told Jerry Jones to beat it this week so said stay out of the way old man Mike McCarthy coached this team we’ve got a lot going on with the star right now Jerry’s world is uh it’s a little turbulent it’s as turbulent as it has been with a lack of success so there there’s things like this in the past that have happened the Cowboys have been able to mask it and disguise it with W’s half the people on this podcast weren’t even alive for those teams give it up well I was and I watched all the [ __ ] glory and it was great and I remember what it tastes like been a while been a while uh we have the 2011 Major League Baseball redraft yeah happening on today’s show show uh we have the 1990 MVP hindsight segment with J um the uh the looks like the um rundown was not updated because I can tell you that the 1990 MVP was not between Bryce Harper and Josh Donaldson um did I send the wrong one no no looks like you do oh in the in the little subtext yeah sloppy work listen hey that’s dad life sometimes yeah um and we have Family Feud for you today as well what we don’t have for you unfortunately is where Juan sto is signing still we don’t know the sweep Stakes by Monday by Monday yeah I mean we’re gonna have we’re gonna have to record Sunday night by the way because I’m flying on Monday um so hopefully we have an answer by Sunday I don’t think we will will all be on standby during the winter meetings if and when he signs I mean I think we can pretty comfortably say he’s gonna sign during the winter meetings that we all feel that way based on my reporting I feel like he could sign slightly before during or maybe after the winter meetings right yep I like your headset on that yeah that’s what I’m being told if I’m reading the tea leaves um or if I want to do the hyon oh my god did you [ __ ] did you see him on uh foul territory the other day what I’m doing oh my God this man for being in media for as long and he’s been in media what are we doing not knowing how a camera works but I mean it it was like this it was crazy it was crazy just him and like a in a in a Barnes & Noble this Starbucks and uh did not know how a camera worked I mean we work with Dallas Bron you want to talk about people that don’t know how technology Works John Heyman is a step above that yeah talking to a guy who just bot The Rundown because technology got him I don’t want to hear it I mean that’s I don’t think I don’t think typing is on you know Google Docs is technology but you know whatever yeah neither here nor there no I’m very excited for today’s redraft though I I I kind of threw a hint about where going with my first round pick and J sniffed it out he didn’t say the name but I know that he knows I know that he knows I can trust that he knows uh but the 2011 redraft is people are saying a chance at Redemption for me like what am I a Redemption from what I have the best team um I mean it seems like you maybe had the worst no offense yeah yeah no really not even particularly close I mean the numbers I mean listen I know some people don’t like War but you had like half yeah well I mean like the first like if you it’s it’s the [ __ ] the the draft pick Lottery if you didn’t have one of the first two picks which I again do not absolutely are you are you B about that I had fourth that was the fourth pick everybody that I picked you had an opportunity to pick you could have picked a better team than you did your team sucked and instead because of you I had a great team just left right into my lap your team sucked ass so much better that’s as I said warmongers if that’s how it’s going to be looked at then the exercise is fairly simple Jay J and Joey had 40% of their team’s war in like the in the first round the drop off after the cookie humbled and nobody absolutely nobody extracted value out of the draft slots like I did nobody all right man you get you get the best extractor award yeah congratulations which is the most important really because about being able to identify we only give out two Awards per draft and you got the second most important award that we give out of the two well I won the draft and then now the best extractor too the value no nope that was the best extractor award is what we’re giving you to keep you quiet because you didn’t win just kind of give you something to like hey it’s it’s okay show me a better draft with more value person slot mine I’m waiting you’re basic yeah you’re like you know the Money Ball A’s you’re like the Rays you’re the Brewers you’re like PLU you’re Plucky yeah you guys see the Martha Stewart doc I’ve seen parts of it actually yeah pretty interesting what prompted that I watched it in here honestly that’s what prompted it oh oh I did she seems a little bit sociopathic uh a little bit yeah I mean she’s lived she’s a life as very successful a lot of them are yes very very successful uh also just wildly different chapters you know each chapter was widely different than the next in the life of Martha Stewart but um inspirational to say the least I don’t know that I aspire to end up in prison but feels like she was made an example of um I I could see how she might be inspiration to some for sure she’s uh accomplished a lot I mean like she was a billionaire and she went to prison over like 40 Grand in stocks like I it just are we doing like rehab for Martha Stewart segment no I’m just I’m just listen P PR work for Martha put it this way J if you had a billion would you risk imprisonment over $440,000 I think think the rational mind would say no I think often times the pursuit of more money and greed in general overrides uh what might seem rational in the moment that is a general statement and nothing related to Martha Stewart specifically because I just don’t know enough got it Dallas very silent on Martha Stewart which is interesting I mean she rolls with the homie Snoop what do you like I got nothing bad to say about Martha okay Martha likes to get it in Martha has made some mistakes and Martha has Martha has served her time yeah she did what else can she do for you besides everything Redemption yeah that’s that’s what that’s what got me thinking about Martha Stewart was the the the Redemption talk yeah Martha Stewart shows up to your [ __ ] house with a warm apple pie and wants to apologize you’re closing the door in her face I don’t need her to apologize to me I don’t I’m also not asking for an apology no I think I just my takeaway was that I think she might be a sociopath that’s all you you can be successful and have a career Arc and be one uh Jake are you seeing what I’m seeing right now oh God what what’s happening my phones on do not disturb yeah why as you undisturbed that [ __ ] all right all right all right I I I’m gonna make a prediction wait well what is it well it’s not public this is uh the scoop shop Oh I thought it was a tweet oh okay no there’s there’s uh their scoop shop smoke right now uhhuh and it’s not specific I’ll say that the scoop shop of them seem to be lately yeah yeah but I think I think something could be going down to that would be fun I think something could be going down today for us maybe that would be fun son around 5:30 oh Dallas is still hating it seems what what separates what you just said from John Haymon uh because John Haymon you’re looking into the camera Josh Josh John hmon is a propaganda source we’re not propaganda oh this is this is very different hey guys sums up huh is amazing just saying hey some something could be going down something could be going down in the next uh couple days here maybe I’ll I’ll be at my house I’m ready I’m ready to hop on yeah um or at my mom’s house and that’s 15 minutes away drive back yeah so what would you guys say uh do you think anybody signs before Juan stto like any major player yeah no you don’t think so well yes or maybe no I don’t know who’s the major player out there I mean are they are all out there still yeah except for B yeah happy birthday Blake Snell by the way also part of the 2011 redraft is he he’s on my list should he not be am I oh yeah you’re right yeah 52nd [ __ ] I shouldn’t have said something God damn it foolish that was foolish I mean I’m still taking who I’m taking so what I could see as soon as he said he was like [ __ ] he wanted to if you’ve ever watched a man want to physically grab words out of out of eror just just replay that I take my I take my redraft seriously you know it’s funny well your pick is safe at least for Me Maybe Dallas what are you first yeah you want to start it now I mean if we’re doing the draft now sure I mean I it’s I I can’t [ __ ] this one up hm okay are we ready I think we’re ready I got my big board I’m ready okay um without without further Ado the 2011 Major League Baseball redraft will start with mookie bets yeah select mooki bets you know him as a as a multi organizational pillar uh he will end his career as a multi-time world champion Los Angeles Dodger things are only getting better MVP just a stalwart on so many levels I think our I think our last episode or a couple episodes ago like ended up on Dodgers Reddit or something because uh all of my hatred towards mooki in that episode no one in the comments knew who I was but they all had something to say so I think I think there’s like a Dodger fan who listens to basball is dead that posted it somewhere where like a flood of Dodger fans came over to be like what’s this hating ass [ __ ] got to say um D you come out to Chavez Ravine this summer dude next summer o what’s gonna happen to me what’s going to happen if I do that ooh I’ve been there there’re a bunch of [ __ ] I was like the upper level with easy pal I mean I I did I was up there talking my [ __ ] come on over Dodgers redit join the baseball is dead Community yeah there there there’s a difference between you being you being with me in the nose bleeds oh yeah no yeah yeah they didn’t do anything cuz [ __ ] skinny ass Dallas was next to me all first of all I would pop your eyes out of your [ __ ] skull second of all what my point you think you standing next me deck we’re in the third I was not saying because I was there I was saying I was with you in the third deck has nothing to do with my presence it has everything to do with you and me being in the third deck at no point was me being where all the rou is supposed to take place no yeah no you’re telling me where that’s going down a Dodger Stadium that’s like me telling you where to go sit in the best seat at finway is you go to the if you’re about that life if you’re about the life you’re talking that you’re about you’re going to go sing that song in the bleachers that’s I’ve been in the bleachers and Yankee Stadium and Buddy Budd that’s Yankee Stadium that’s the Bronx Zoo are you really trying to say that Dodger Stadium is harder than the Bronx I I could say something but out of respect for the individual and out of the respect for the individual’s family I will not alls I’m telling you is that Dodgers fans they beat to a little different drum and I can appreciate what the Bronx Zoo is all about what I’m telling you the Bronx is harder than what I have witnessed wine and cheese crowd that is Dodger Stadium Dodger Stadium is one entity the bleachers in Dodger Stadium are completely different it might as well be like Northern California and Southern California two completely different [ __ ] worlds you think the people that sit behind home plate are going to go out into the bleachers with those folks those are different breeds talk two different no mention of the Jake yet huh you Progressive I just can’t believe Dallas is making me defend Yankee fans right now like it’s not like a hostile environment to be out there who nobody said it wasn’t a hostile environment I told you that the third deck down the right field line at Dodgers Stadium was not the bleachers out in left field at Dodgers stadium and for whatever reason you’re trying to muddy that and you can’t cuz that’s I’ve also been in the bleachers in Yankee Stadium I mean you sat out in the Bronx Zoo out there in the bleachers with yeah have you sat in the bleachers at Dodger Stadium you were with me so no we did not sit in the bleachers at Dodger Stadium no they just it’s just far less intimidating than the Bronx like the Bronx bleachers like they’ll they’ll Eat You Alive out there like the parking lot at Dodger Stadium is is more like when we were walking out after the Red Sox won the World Series we like saw some dude like stumbling with like a bloody face in the parking lot was was like okay all right parking lot bad time but like I don’t know those guys were they were inside the game yeah okay I’m just saying I’m putting I’m putting the bleachers in the Bronx as a more hostile environment than the bleachers at Dodger Stadium I’ve been to both we see more videos on I mean like there’s going to be like Mass brawls like uh Dodgers Padres there’s definitely brawls out there for sure but I mean neither is a place that you want to be as an opposing teams fan I would say but well and that’s talking the mooki bets selection here in the 2011 redraft yeah that’s the first pick wow pick number one just a little context mookie bets went fifth round 172 over all in the actual draft there you go this one-1 spot belong to Garrett Cole who I think is a legitimate candidate here at number two for me to select um but that’s not the direction I’m going to go wow I’m going to select Francisco Lindor with the second overall pick um yeah he went eighth overall obviously to the to Cleveland in the real draft um I think that uh I wouldn’t argue with anybody who wanted to take Cole but uh I think particularly given the way that his Mets tenure has gone and what that says about the next half decade of lindor’s career uh I think we’re talking about a future Hall of Famer um and I think his contributions um are not too far off uh for mooki Betts I think mie Betts was the correct one- one clearly um but I think Lindor is an incredible um runner up and I will take the position player over the starting pitch do we got I can’t believe what you just did to me what made you decide between gar Cole and the person that you wanted to take yeah well I mean objectively there’s a right choice and if you want to pursue a narrative or you know an alternate future sort of conversation then I think there’s another there’s another potential choice because if if it’s the guy that I think it is then you know he certainly showed as much promise at his Peak as Garrick Cole did at that age if not more more he showed more by the way we didn’t tell the audience what the new new rule is the new rule is on every redraft the player has to sign that in in the year of that draft so Trey Turner Carlos rodon um there are some others Aron NOA it’ll avoid repeats is what we discussed yeah what we’re trying to do yeah uh shout out to Danny holson by the way uh who is the actual number two overall pick in the 2011 Draft of Seattle um yeah Jared who you taking buddy see I I hate that you did this to me but also like if you had taken Garrick Cole at two then I would have had Lindor sitting there at three yeah I yeah I think the decision is equally difficult for you regardless of who got to you it’s really about what fear you don’t fear Joey taking the guy that you’re thinking about passing up on right now do you no but he’s not going to make it I don’t think he’s going to make it back to me in the second round I can tell you unequivocally that I am not taking that guy so he will absolutely make it to J and I don’t think J’s taking him either so he would make if the board breaks a certain way I would not take him yeah so you could really go for the Home Run value here if you wanted to try for the double dip or if you think Dallas is lying his ass off to your face then Dallas is a liar he is not trustworthy I mean there’s just several other players that are better than him and I can appreciate I think we would all be making the same argument for him mhm but you know that that’s the that’s the colorful part about this that’s the fun part about this so pick in the draft I just you know I mean for Pete sake fish are biting J the fish are biting a I mean it’s the right pick crazy so disgusted so disgusted don’t be disgusted with yourself I am the actual third pick was Trevor Bower um Cole obviously went one1 hello it went mooki Lindor Cole why do I get to pick last because that’s how you were there when we picked the [ __ ] draft order Joe what was that Monday so the um it was Mooky who Lindor Cole oh [ __ ] I’m unprepared bro I’m going Jose Fernandez [ __ ] you you [ __ ] piece of [ __ ] you [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] you you lose bro a you’re a [ __ ] [ __ ] oh that that stings even more even more Joe can you hear us yeah Joe so I uh Jared thank you so much for being you because I had just tried to talk Jared into what he just did which was pick somebody that he didn’t really want to pick and it was because I told I tried to tell like look Joey is not going that route and I and I told him that I was not going to go that route and Jay even gave him a little vote of confidence and said look if the board breaks a certain way like it’d be tough for him to go that route so essentially he felt like this guy was going to fall right back into his lap he had a smile on his face begrudgingly picked his Archen enemy and Garrett Cole and then you come in and swoop up Jose Fernandez well sorry we still got bow on the board so can pick him up next W oh all right Jo call you back for the second round byebye uh dick the the actual fourth pick was Dylan Bundy uh Jose Fernandez went 14th yo just a little reminder because I think there are a decent number of people who listen to this podcast who probably have basically no memory of Jose Fernandez and I’m not going to get into the off the field stuff because that’s not what this draft is for but the last time we saw him on the mound was 2016 he threw 182 in a third Innings with a 286 ER and 253 strikeouts he had a 12 a half K per nine in 29 starts um he was 23 years old at the time MH j j i I think about I think about Yordano Ventura and I think about Jose Fernandez daily daily like in some in some way in some capacity yeah and uh yeah [ __ ] man yeah I mean for for as young as he was Jose Fernandez was damn near as effective as a pitcher has ever been for that age uh you know on a per inning basis it was just think think about think about the personality the love for the game the the just the the way he played the way he played the way he performed unapologetically himself and unapologetically in love with the game of baseball yeah unfortunate in a lot of different ways for him and other people um and on a much lighter note also unfortunately GED given what Joey went with do you do you guys agree that he’s he he should have been in the first round somewhere in this draft or no I think you can justify it with the idea that this is supposed to be an exercise where people play out potentially differently or you’re not just NE like I don’t think it is just a war redraft like that’s not how I’m approaching this I’m thinking about production and also what type of player they were but like you know on a talent basis um I think he is clearly within that Elite group like I think this is as stacked of a draft as we’re probably going to do um with bets Lindor Cole at the top of it those are all potential one guys but you know Jose Fernandez was just as talented as G Cole if not more so and that’s why I made the little joke about you know you can write your paragraph under his name in in your draft board because I I think that’s important to be able to like Jose Fernandez is a [ __ ] dude and if we’re just thinking about projecting out what that could have looked like that’s where the fun is isn’t it like him doing what he did and then us thinking about him like only getting better over time and that extrapolates out yeah and just to be clear like even even like the 80th percentile scenario or or whatever 90th percentile scenario is probably Garrett Cole’s career right like that’s this is G like it doesn’t get a lot better than that in the modern sense so like this isn’t really to disparage Cole or anything like that it’s just that you know for the Four Seasons and I know two of them were heavily abbreviated that Jose Fernandez pitched it was as electric as as anyone in the game you know basically like post post do good it just felt like man it felt like we were getting a throwback it felt like we were getting a throwback like this dude’s going to give you 220 plus every [ __ ] season and it’s going to be [ __ ] dominant I should have just taken him [ __ ] I should have just taken him like it’s not like he got sick like if if I’m taking him that means he’s not playing for the Marlins which means potentially he could still be alive that’s that’s a very in-depth way of of looking at that well maybe will trade you after the draft yeah maybe yeah we’ve done that PRS of drafts I got to really come through in this second round to have a piece that Joe would want in the trade so the second round I mean it really he just Falls right back into my lap again and it’s more of the value pick again and it’s Marcus Simon again yeah makes sense sixth round in the real 2011 Draft just constant disrespect for Marcus seman um the real number five pick was Bubba Starling by the Royals Bubba J I didn’t think semian would get back um because I knew Dallas was sitting right there ah I hate to be boring but I think can’t really let my decisions in the previous draft impact what I’m supposed to be doing here I think Jared would pick him don’t do it that’s fine no no no no I’m I’m going to take I’m going to take the player because there’s no real argument uh in terms of bulk and Peak and all of that for anyone else I don’t think so I’m going to take George Springer and Slot him back in okay spring do first round he was 11th overall in the real draft um the actual sixth pick was a guy I think as a candidate coming up here which is uh the much maligned Anthony randone much maligned yes although he was you know selected in the last draft and you know for all the reasons we shared then I feel good about this pick lot of meat left on this bone still you can go a lot of different directions I feel like there’s some quality out there yeah I I feel good about this pick because J gave it to me um with my second round pick I’ll be selecting two times sa Young Award winner Blake snow oh I mean he was that’s who I had to decide between with Springer well I live for it so you think you’re going to be able to package Snell and Fernandez for or Snell and Cole for Garrett Fernand or Jose Fernandez two of them for Jose I think I think I might be able to sneak a one for one maybe wow wow snail Zilla off the board didn’t see that coming brutal yeah I’ll know I’ll know next time that I’m gonna be unearthing people that nobody else saw that’s just a even though they’re all just listed he went seconds overall just look at him I assumed too much um five two all right uh we got Joey again oh yeah so right now Dallas has got two position players I’ve got two position players Jared’s got two arms and we’re waiting on Joey here the actual seventh pick in the draft yo uh so the second round went Marcus Simeon George Springer and Blake Snell might have to make a trade um I’m gonna have to go with my gut bro wait you Springer got drafted yeah y yeah and Lindor got drafted yep second overall and simeon’s gone bet lot of meat left on his phone Joe there’s a lot of what a lot of meat on the phone there’s a lot there’s a lot of different ways you go here I’m going to actually go with uh [ __ ] jav bz Javi bz goes eighth overall nice pick Joe second rounder to Joe’s team thank you Joe tough tough pick it’s a tough pick the the quick reaction from Executives around the league are saying tough pick no no not this executive I support Joe’s decision I mean you know the juice was worth the squeeze for a few years that’s what I’m saying Series winner makes cool catches at second base you gotta look at his Peak and really I’m drafting based on their Peak obviously yeah so far yeah clearly yeah yeah good pick Joe yeah good pick Joe thank you we’ll call you back for the Third actual eighth pick was Lindor um bz went ninth so uh damn near that’s probably uh as close to a dead-on match as we’re going to get in my opinion just as a side note I think there were three viable candidates uh if you wanted to go position player in that pick for Joe and I think bayz was one of them I know you guys were hating on the pick I think it’s totally justifiable um based on as he said peak value like I think you’re going to be able to poke holes in any of these position players based on a lack of like longevity but I think all of them were very very interesting down ballot MVP is type players at their Peak just how long did those last and whose Peak was the highest so I think bayz is a justifiable selection on me for number three yeah you’re going to take one of those position players you going with one of these arms that are left um it’s always It’s Always Sunny in Simi Valley nice pick wow Sunny gray get your CH about 1,700 Innings of 3.51 er baseball over his career it’s a nice selection it’s good value my favorite part about Sunny gray is that he just doesn’t throw two pitches that move the same like at any time at any time he is such a a tinker he’s so he’s such a thinker out there and at times you can see the Thinker mentality and then you could see just the competitive Bulldog come out and I love the combination of the two that he possesses I’m a big fan of C I think I know where J is going right now well um kind of tempted whether I go should go with a guy who sucks that nobody likes but whose career was probably the most valuable or a guy who has not been nearly as valuable as this guy but who everybody loves and who is still pitching and might be still a high level contributor if you could ever stay healthy um I also already have two position players I know again that’s not necessarily what this is about um h h H you know I don’t think there’s any chance that this guy gets back to me and I don’t want to have a snow situation on my hands because I want to get some sexy ass pitching yeah yeah shake your head [ __ ] you did it to me I’m going to do it to you Tyler glaz now is my pick my dick suck my dick J we could work out a trade maybe afterwards we’ll see you’re a [ __ ] [ __ ] I I thought for sure you were going rendone so this sets me up perfect for glas now listen if I if it was cold cold and calculating I mean I think I had Reno on my team last time um I probably would have gone that direction but I think I need a little pop of sex on my team and I mean listen I am a huge fan of what Tyler glaz now does on the mound it’s just I would love to see see more of it but unlike Anthony randone there’s actually the promise of more uh for glass now um and I don’t think that’s the case case with breno so that’s my justification for it glass now actually went in the fifth round um got a 600k Bonus to the Pirates uh and the real 10th pick in that draft was Carston I’m sorry the actual pick was Corey spangenberg spangenberg spangenberg yeah yeah hadn’t said that name in a while also never really cared if I’m being honest no offense Cory um more more interested in Cory Brinson shout out yeah no that’s Lewis Brinson Cory Brinson is the guy who does graphics for us oh HED in the big leagu shout out who Brinson all right who’s is Joe Joe right no [ __ ] oh it’s yeah but I think I I mean I think I it’s another one where like the pick like I got two picks forced upon me like I didn’t want to pick Cole but I had to I don’t want to pick randone but I feel like I have to because I mean you could look at it this way do I go randone or do I maybe say to to Jay ha’s point rendone randone at his Peak was great and I think we’ve seen the end of that greatness and there’s probably no juice left to squeeze out of that a guy who’s comparable in career War but potentially we could still get some out of him a guy like Trevor story I think randone story and bz are all in the same bucket those are the three guys that I was referencing I think you could justify any of those starting with where Joey picked for sure and maybe even earlier really but they are five six and seven on my board yeah so good value for you according to the DB’s board regardless of who you take yeah I mean I think I’m leaning I think I’m leaning Trevor story here because I if at the end of this season they might have the exact same career wins above replacement one guy’s got a ring but it’s like that’s a team thing yeah I think I mean listen I haven’t I haven’t done a deep dive on Trevor Story versus Anthony randone I my gut would say that Anthony randone was definitively a better player at their peaks or Peak definely stretch but to your point like it’s not like Trevor story was some schlub like he was a six seven win player at his Peak um and you know you’re right I think there is if I had to bank on one of those guys finding a three- win season in the future I would think it would be Trevor story I’m taking Trevor story that’s my there it is see if Joe’s got the guts to go rendone who’s falling all the way to 12 yeah randone is yours if you want him oh man INF Field’s pretty set right now who else is there uh uh Sunny gray Tyler glas nowor story just went Sunny gray is not there I know I just gave him the last round Oh I thought he said who else is left my bad I’m gonna go Trey Turner he did not sign that year I don’t give a [ __ ] that’s the rule Joe the new rule is the player has to sign in the year that they were taken now there’s new rules um then um you think we would let Turner fall to the [ __ ] 12th pick in the draft yeah that’s crazy I know thought you guys been picking lately though doesn’t make much so Blake snow got picked correct Sunny gray got picked yep how about I go with little bit of a Dark Horse Carter caps Carter caps yeah I saw his name and I was like this could be a funny pick in the fourth round Jo he’s jumping out your [ __ ] and he’s got some of the best numbers you ever seen your life 2015 yeah I think he uh I think he’s a pitching coach for like a college somewhere right now but so good they banned him from baseball jar yeah Carter caps the 12th pick in the draft here um by team Joseph team Joseph right now Jose Fernandez jav bayz and Carter caps that is the worst that is group dude go to 2015 look how good my team would be in 2015 yeah that’s all I’m gonna say on that I can’t comment much further Joe hanging his hat on 31 innings in 2015 one of best ER in the [ __ ] League 331 plus yeah put in the clo who’s your reliever who you got coming out of the pet I think I think the Craig Kimbrell selection taught us all the lesson that Rel pict might not have much of a role here uh but Carter caps for sure for sure Carter caps third round book it thank you Joe thank you there’s another round right yeah there’s one more round let’s go so so Dallas can just pluck randone here if he’s wants to or does he not feel like messing with the Good Vibes on his team I mean oh like I’ve got one route I want to go here but I’m I think he signed pretty sure um who yeah I mean you can just say the name nobody can take him from you now Java Joe Musgrove yeah yes available and again it’s not that the lineup needs balance I’ve got three position players they’re all great I could go the easy route and take rendone and the war conversation’s not even a conversation this draft goes to me but I don’t I don’t know that I want to do that necessarily I’m gonna do it [ __ ] yeah [ __ ] that give me those rudol fears give me the first [ __ ] no hitter in franchise history give me [ __ ] Java Joe Joe give me Java Joe yeah I’m passing up um yeah I’m passing up Colton Wong who was gonna be my pick and uh time didn’t you right yes in an effort to avoid redundancy um I passed on Colton Wong and secured Jill Musgrove I passed on Seth Lugo that was the that was going to be the probably yeah probably good pass um all right my pick your pick great Anthony rendone Jared you’re up I knew he wasn’t going to let him just sit my God Jared you’re on you’re on like four or five different posters today it’s [ __ ] no I I I wasn’t I literally passed I took Trevor store you dumbass I I didn’t want renon I could have had him last round my team is so ridiculous oh my God guys are going to have to hit the [ __ ] Workshop Carter caps at least I know I’m not going to finish last this time no somebody’s got that lock the [ __ ] up you could you could you could sell your pick I think yeah you you could actually just draft three players and you’re gonna be fine a lot of talent still left on the board though if you want it yeah there really is there only two I think I I think I get a sneaky pick I think I got a sneaky really good pick that I’m pretty happy with do it uh my final pick in the draft will be Cass Chris basset come on down solid Choice yep great choice great love Chris Basset on this show the be Hound Chris Basset that is some real value there he was the 51st pick in the draft in the 16th round damn all right let’s uh let’s call up Joseph final pick in the draft Mr Irrelevant hello the fourth round has gone Joe Musgrove Anthony randone and Chris Basset I I honestly like the fourth round better than the third round did glas now get picked he did third round by J you guys get all the good players man yeah I mean unfortunately he was selected before Carter caps so you didn’t have a shot at him uh Blake Snell got picked unfortunately uh [ __ ] so I’m the last overall pick you are Mr reant pick right now okay I feel like I gotta pull like a Hail Mary bro yeah who do you got I might get some [ __ ] for this but I’m going Terence Gore because I mean the GU Goes the World Series every year it ain’t a secret no it’s not um these drafts are way better with Joe I’m glad we glad we made sure to call him on Thursdays Terrence Gore with his career 0.1 wins above rep placement dude who else am I supposed to pick oh yeah okay take [ __ ] Kyle Hendrick that’s gonna be aw Seth lug Seth lug go is out there nimo’s out there I go Trevor I go Trevor B get I go mik yeah bow on the list are you to the before bow don’t bend the knee to the masses Joe Stand By Your Man Stand By Your Man Mike Clevenger is out there as well I know but but parents score I mean he gets you to the World Series every time teren score Josh Bell’s out there first none of you guys even probably drafted a bench player you don’t even think about this [ __ ] I’m the one who constructed a lineup at a four squad team that actually makes sense Jackie Bradley Jr’s out there Joe panck Terence Gore your final answer Terence Gore Terence Gore all right that’s the final pick in the draft um thank you Joe thank you oh Joseph young Joseph so that is uh Mookie Betts Marcus Simeon Sunny gray Joe musgrow for Dallas Francisco Lindor George Springer Tyler glas now Anthony randone for J Garrett Cole Blake Snell Trevor story and Chris Basset for me Jose Fernandez jav bayz Carter caps and Terrence Gore for Joe that is your 2011 redraft feeling good about it yeah I feel fantastic feel Fantastico yeah um all right the next draft year next week which we got to figure out I’ll be in Disney I got to figure out when the hell we’re going to do this um the next draft year will be 1996 and Dallas I’m going to FaceTime you so you can verify the draft order no [ __ ] be nice if I I’ve been I’ve been what [ __ ] third every single time this is going to be quite the draft I can’t see I can’t see the screen I’m I’m still I gotta load it hold on now Joey Jared j okay all right ready ready generate draft order J he Joey Dallas Jared what the [ __ ] nice I already know who I’m taking see that I got it J Joe Dallas Jared low sex appeal draft but it will be fun that sucks dude I get a [ __ ] pick every [ __ ] draft I’m gonna tell you I’m going to tell you that in this particular draft you’re gonna you’re going to be able to make that work I think the 1996 draft yeah let’s see who are some of the highlights some of the big names is that the year RA Dicky that [ __ ] this was the RA Dicky draft is that the year that no Pat when did Pat go was it 97 Pat the bat when he was one1 AJ hinch was in this draft wow Troy gloss Vernon well let’s go Michael Kad the big Puma wow oh yeah this good this is could to be good yeah Jack cust so let me let me write this down J Jack Joey Dallas J Joey oh buddy oh oh buddy I know where I’m going I’ve already got my one one what website are you using to see the whole draft and he’s going to get to me too I mean I don’t know that I want to disclose it yeah all right no go to um go to the Baseball Almanac ah as much as I would like to gatekeep that it’s not anything special it’s I that’s what I found that’s what I used sure because if you if you look at it it tells you like I I believe the guys highlighted in red are guys that made it of the big leagues correct but the only problem with that is like Blake Snell’s name not highlighted on last year’s draft why not on the year year that we just did you got to pay closer attention I guess I know but that’s why I’m saying I don’t know that the the name being highlighted specifically denotes that but that’s what I thought it meant all right next week the 1996 MLB redraft right here on baseball is dead I feel pretty good about my team 2011 feel pretty good about it wish I went Jose Fernandez but it is what it is it is what it is right out of that yeah you guys put it in my head just like we’re trying to put it in your head that you need to make Underdog fantasy the place to be for your uh for all your action making special of a free pick and your deposit offer um J hey are we knocking on some doors today are we going back to 1990 could be a tough day for some uh for some Award winners um you know I know I know some people find this disrespectful but it’s not you know we’re not not trying to be that we’re just trying to trying to get it right we’re just trying to get it right that’s all we are trying to do um and I think this week uh that’s going to require some door knocking so yeah so uh 1990 so in the and it’s sa young uh just to reiterate so that’s B oh oh right yeah I was looking at Ricky Henderson and Barry Bonds and I’m like this is gonna be a tough oh this is it’s the exact opposite of what you’re talking about in terms of sex appeal but what’s interesting since you brought that up is that uh Ricky Henderson and Barry Bonds yes MVP winners Pirates and A’s right well it just so happens that the sa young winners were from the Pirates and A’s uh as well Bob Welch in the AL and Doug dreck in the NL um we’re gonna start with the Bob Welch side um because that’s where things get a little hairy um be gentle yeah just to just just to rund down some key facts here about Bob Welch’s season um he was this was his third season in Oakland after coming over uh after over a decade run with the Dodgers um Bob Welch went 20 seven and six this season so you you can kind of reduce this whole thing if you wanted to to the fact that the man won 27 games um that was a big deal uh back back in 1990 was a big deal for a long time in Major League Baseball but 27-6 even in 1990 uh was extremely eye popping uh Bob Welch never had a season anywhere approaching in terms of this sort of sex appeal the thing about Bob Welch though is that he had Seasons like this previously right before this season uh he had a three flat ER in 209 Innings pitched and if you go back to 1987 with the Dodgers he had a 322 ra with 200 over 200 150 and a third uh two3 Innings pitched he never finished better than eighth in the Sai Young in any other season of his career and that was only two uh instances in a 17-year career so in a lot of ways uh both in terms of in some ways performance uh but more in terms of recognition this was completely out of character for Bob Welch uh it’s also uh an atrocious sa Young Award uh no offense to Bob Welch because um it it’s historically egregious and it doesn’t really like I’m going to reduce it to war in a little bit but if you basically put War aside for a second and look at the other numbers it it becomes damn near impossible to have figured out how Bob Welch won other than the fact that he won 27 games for a team that was uh something of a juggernaut Roger clemens’s erra was more than a run lower uh than Bob Welches was and they threw basically the same number of innings pitch that was separated by nine and 2/3 Innings pitch so uh to totally not relevant for this uh Clemens also struck out 209 while Bob Welch struck out 127 again in the same amount of innings pitched uh in terms of a dominance they just was no comparison um I could name literally a dozen other pitchers in the AL who if you put wins and losses aside were equally deserving if not more so than Bob Welch of the award Dave Stewart his own teammate probably had a better season in fact he threw about 30 Innings more than Bob Welch that year with a lower erra I’ll say that again his own teammate threw 30 more Innings with a lower erra and finished third in the sa young vote Dave Stewart got three first place votes Bob Welch got 15 that’s because Dave Stewart went 22 and 11 and Bob Welch went 27-6 this all feels a little silly after you keep saying this Dave Stewart also LED Major League Baseball and started with 36 he led the and innings and batters faced every metric you can use for that and he had 11 complete games and four shutouts Bob Welch had two complete games so oh God Dallas breaking news uhoh they traded Brent rer Jeff passing is that what he is for right-hander Luis sevino what the [ __ ] and the Oakland A’s are in agreement or excuse me the A’s are in agreement on a threeyear $67 million contract sources tell ESPN it is the largest guarantee in the history of the A’s franchise and even with the qualifying offer attached srino got well over Market expectations where did he go where did he go what the why do what’s see I don’t understand I don’t understand that reaction uh I don’t think he likes it doesn’t seem like it maybe no sorry I had somebody at my door Ahah um you don’t like that deal let’s start let’s start with the messaging I’ll start there this is this is what we were told to expect or that we could be expecting as as a fans is a ramp up in spending in an effort to position yourself and get ready for the move and for the final transition and if starting pitching has been a point of focus and you’re looking at the market and you understand what you’re willing to spend where you’re willing to spend it and you also understand to the extent that you are handcuffed as a franchise while pursuing viable free agent options because of your situation there’s a very specific pool of players that you can really call and maybe expect a expect an answer for Luis srino is definitely one of those players and so I think from a organizational perspective if you’re looking for veteran presence combined with affordability combined with somebody who provides you with an opportunity to outline your rotation over these very important next three years then this is a move that I can understand and I think I I think um expecting anything more than what you’ve gotten from Luis srino in the past is I don’t know if that’s a I don’t know if that’s an exercise that I’d be participating in I I’m not expecting great things out of Luis srino right off the bat like I I’m expecting him to take advantage of the opportunity that has been presented to him which is to take the ball every five days if he’s healthy and to pitch himself into a position where if the team is not contending he could be an option for contenders it’s straight up it’s a [ __ ] shock that the organization’s largest contract goes to Louis sevino shocked shocked shocked and this is purely from an analyst perspective has nothing to do with uh you know any affiliation with the organization anything like that that’s why I think if we’re looking towards the future and you’re confident with what you have in house I got to believe that there might have been some other conversations to be had in terms of extending or locking guys up but again because of what the future looks like that presents a very real hurdle in in all of those conversations so not to get too far into the Weeds about why what happened happened why what isn’t happening isn’t happening I think we can all understand that to an extent but for Luis seino you n $67 million the largest Oakland A’s or the largest Athletics contract ever extended or ever handed out I didn’t have Luis srino being that dude no Eric Chavez who he just mentioned what 30 minut minutes ago when we were talking about the 966 mil yeah that was two decades ago Lis srino brought down Eric Chavez finally I mean you know above and beyond the impact on the A’s who it’s worth noting like yeah this this number and this transaction are eye popping and surprising a little bit I think um you know they also didn’t have a single starting pitcher who started 20 games with an ER just the ra of 100 or better so like they basically had no one who took the ball who was League average over any meaningful amount of time last season um Luis srino probably can do that I mean he had literally a 101 ER Plus last season so uh it’s not much better than that um I also think you know so he he will help them um I also think that I I think we all or at least casually kind of mentally underestimated what the market would be for people who demonstrate that they can take the ball 20 25 30 times a year and a couple people have noted this elsewhere but the payday seems good for high-end position players and starting pitchers who can actually take the ball if you’re a middling if you’re a middling position player good luck to you out there but for P for pitchers who can still pitch like starting pitchers um the payday is there for you we’ve seen it on multiple podcasts now Matthew Boyd $145 million Frankie Mont $7 million and now Luis srino um you know whatever it is 22 and change uh per season and you know we’re also now talking about a guy in srino who has a who at this point will now have been guaranteed $130 million in his career and has a 381 erra and 999 in a third Innings pitch so I mean you can go back you go back a great deal for him man like yeah you go back to his early days in New York I mean the dude was dirty yeah the dude was dirty like there’s there’s no denying that he missed what when did he miss he he missed a year he didn’t play he didn’t play at all in 20 he did not play at all in 2021 he barely played basic he basically missed for for all intents and purposes three seasons 19 20 and 21 he threw 18 total Innings over those three seasons yeah so and I know you could say well the the wear and tear is not there well obviously he’s not pitching because because the wear and tear is somewhere else right the wear and tear is there um but yeah this this all just and what I can appreciate about this from a market perspective is what has rang true since we started throwing baseballs is still true today if you’ve got a dude who can start the ball game and account for how many ouns how many boys 15 if I can pencil you in for 15 there is a significant dollar amount attached to that and to the tune of 22 million plus over three years for sevino that’s the message here take the ball be healthy you will get money because the the the numbers outside of that I mean there’s obviously a point in time where productivity is factored in it’s always factored in but for an organization like the Athletics in the position they’re in moving in the direction they’re in you need certain things accounted for and with a bullpen that was worn out last year a bullpen that was a huge part of why they were on certain successful runs and then at time a bullpen that was floundering was a part of why they hit some LOLs how do you how do you assist that you account for Innings so what they’ve done in their mind is they’ve penciled in hopefully 170 plus Innings out of srino and now you start to work back from there now you can start to deploy your Bullpen a little differently because you have guys that you can depend on so this is this is where this move is being borne out of for the Athletics well they have also not 100% fully committed to but have implied that they want to bump their Bullpen to like uh their payroll to the100 million range yes and that’s that like I said that’s over the the spending ramp up over these next three years while in Sacramento are essentially to show not only Major League Baseball but I would think fans and I would just think the entity in general that this is this is what has to happen if we’re making this move because that’s the narrative around this is we need a new ballpark to be competitive and that’s what we’re looking to do how do we get competitive we have to bring players in so let’s start to do that now so that when we get there we’re in a position to step into our new home wherever that may be and win and we have a model in place to do so because you can’t take the same model that you’ve been deploying up until today and enter a new ballpark and think you’re going to be treated and received with the same Fanfare that a perennial Contender will be you have to prove that you are willing to attempt to be that perennial Contender and how does it start with spending money and identifying players that you feel can help you so in year one maybe some of the signings aren’t going to be super sexy and really get your juices flowing but maybe in year two that changes and maybe in year three with some additions that you brought in in years one and two you start to see a club round out and now you can start to see what bringing in some viable free agents can do to bolster the likes of guys like Lawrence Butler and Brent Rooker who are taking off guys like JJ blade who have taken a a huge step forward that’s what these three years are about Jared let me ask this J how much do you think the a is overpaid to get srino there because you have to figure if there’s a competitive market for um guys that can take the ball that a three-year deal was out there somewhere elsewhere uh why would you why would you go to Sacramento if you don’t have to um I’m going to assume based on nothing other than intuition that this was the largest guarantee that Luis srino was issued or or or offered uh of the thing I I really do think it is going to be that simple I think the A’s I know we just talked about how the starting pitching Market is is seemingly inflated relative to our expectations but I think even considering that the A’s had to overpay to acquire Lis srino here and I think you can justify in a couple of different ways them doing that if there’s going to be real spending in the future because they they need a competent starting pitcher as badly as any single team in major league baseball so we can say what’s the value of spending $20 million a year to go from a I’m just spitballing but a 71 win team to a 74 win team or a 75 win team and we can say well maybe there isn’t much value in that but there is value in not asking too much of every single pitcher that’s on the staff that’s not Louis srino because they’re being put into a bad place because they’re not good enough to be doing what they’re doing or they’re not experienced enough or they’re not built up enough so I’m I’m cool with that but I think the the bottom line conclusion is that um the A’s probably offered like multiple millions of dollars more than anybody else offered and that’s why Lis seino is going to go through the Suter health park experience and the uncertainty involved and all of that um with the the facilities not being the same that he would receive in other places according to reports and all of that so like you have to pay for that and they did presumably and let’s not let’s not get sidetracked and let’s not get sideswiped so hard by the $67 million organizational record setting contract handed to Luis srino because if he goes out and Deals and the team is not competitive you think sevino is going to live out the life of that contract wearing green and gold brother uh the deal Ken Rosenthal says includes an opt out after the second year so if he ain’t traded after year 1 and things go well in year two here go yeah well and and also that’s that’s clearly another concession that the A’s had to make to get Luis srino to sign pen to paper which is I want to KN out after year two yep yep we we’ll give you all this and he’s like okay I’ll take that but here’s what you got to do if I’m pitching well and you’re not sniffing you’re not sniffing October I’m gone and you got to give me that opportunity I mean there were like 20 pitchers last year who threw as many innings as Luis srino did they’re not I mean there is value in that League average over 180 Innings and even if we think he’s more like 150 or 160 next year fine that think think about what you just said 20 pitchers so that’s what that’s that’s four rotations worth of starting pitches so now you’ve got how many teams out there that are competitive or find themselves feel themselves to be competitive for October and they’ve got a they’ve got a 20 player pool to choose from to help bolster everything that we’ve been talking about to assist the other guys in the rotation and alleviate pressure from the bullpen that is going to play a massive role for them there is a lot of value that’s why the 200 inning Mark has always been the gold standard in our minds as starting pitchers because we know if you’re getting to 200 Innings you’ve been successful enough to the point to eat those Innings and you know what comes after that a massive payday all right that was talking breaking news Lis seino that’s awesome yeah that’s kind of crazy his history that the A’s kind of took the Shine from Bob Welch you know maybe they’re knocking on the doors yeah maybe I I had one question before we continue the Sion conversation Dallas what are the A’s planning on doing for their Road Unis Athletics just a different colored Athletics it’s going to be gray Athletics okay that makes sense so instead of saying the city’s Name Across the chest it’ll now just be a home uniform gray makes sense yeah not many other options you know no no yeah only so many ways you can go there can’t go the you know no no no you can’t um all right J uh sorry for interrupting no no no that’s quite all right I will pick up the pace here a little bit um so the point being uh Bob Welch uh really whether you’re using Advanced or traditional stats is is a really hard sell um he also like is obviously getting credit for the A’s being good he wasn’t even the best pitcher on the A’s and he certainly wasn’t the best player when you factor in multiple other position players a few more notes here before we move on to the NL between Roger Clemens and uh Bob Welch there was a 7.5 wins above replacement Gap a 7.5 Roger Clemens was worth 10.4 Bob Welch was worth 2.9 this season that is the largest gap between the guy who won and the guy who finished second or should have won by War in saong voting history uh so in that sense it’s the most egregious vote in saong history um it’s also the second lowest Bob Welch’s BW War Mark by a Sai Young winning starting pitcher since the award was given out uh the only worse uh only lower BW War Mark is by Pete vukovich uh in 1982 and it is tied for the third lowest by any sa young winning pitcher including relievers uh Steve bedran uh is the quote unquote worst saong Award winner by wins above replacement in saong award history that was in 1987 um and Bob Welch’s season is tied with Dennis eckerle in 1992 for the third worst so in a lot of ways Bob Welch that shines uh quite a light because Bob Welch threw like three times as many innings as Dennis eesley did in 1992 if you don’t like War that’s fine or if you don’t like BW that’s fine of the 38 Al pitchers 38 Al pitchers who pitched enough Innings to qualify Bob Welsh ranked 32nd in F4 he ranked only sixth in the AL and ER and 32nd in FIP uh and he had the largest gap between ER and Fielding independent pitching of any qualified Al starter That season so congratulations to Roger Clemens um who as I said um 1.93 ER 10.4 wins above replacement two 228 in the third Innings and 209 strikeouts with an MLB best 211 adjusted ER he finished second in the actual vote he’s now the winner congratulations to Roger uh I believe that’s eight now for Roger Clemens um he’s got he’s got enough hey if we correct all the votes Roger could end up with 10 if we if we skew it correctly um the NL is a little bit more interesting uh although we will move through it quickly because I think it’s it’s not so clear um that it should be taken away but I think at the end of the day it probably needs to be or at least could be Doug dreck is the winner he won on the strength of again the best the sexiest win loss record he went 22 and six he he got 23 of 24 first place votes that year so from that perspective people seem to think uh that it was rather conclusive um the numbers don’t necessarily suggest the same story um Doug dreck was by either f or bwar the ninth best starting pitcher in the NL That season and even if you want to just look at er his 276 ER was only sixth in the NL among qualified pitchers so um what did happen uh is again uh 1990 the voters loved the wins um in both the case of Doug dreck specifically and the pirates in general dreck performance changed basically not at all from 1989 where he had a 280 ER ra 4.1 BW in 244 in a third Innings pitched to 1990 when he won the sa young with a 276 ra 4.2 BW in 231 in the third Innings pitch so really qualitatively the exact same season the only thing that changed is that he went from 14- 12 to 22-6 because the Pirates went from bad to good the Pirates improved by 21 games from 1989 to 1990 they had 74 wins in 89 95 wins uh in 19 90 making the postseason for the first time since winning the World Series in 1979 and that might strike you as similar to the story that we just talked about when we spoke with Josh Donaldson uh when I took tried to take his MVP away which was he had the the team success story behind him as opposed to the pure statistical argument in favor of Mike Trout where I would draw the distinction for here and why I think Josh Donaldson is more deserving of the 2015 MVP than Doug dreck is of this sa young is because it’s really hard to make the case that Doug dreck was the driving force behind the Improvement the driving force behind the Improvement was in large part Barry Bonds and I know Barry Bonds got credit for that by winning the actual MVP but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you also need to reward a pitcher on this team in any way Barry Bonds just as a reminder went from 19 homers and a 777 Ops in 1989 to 33 homers 52 stole bases an NL leing 970 Ops so he went from two he gained 200 points of Ops That season and was and to an lesser extent Bobby Bia were the the huge reasons why the Pirates became great instead of uh you know poor from the season before there are lots of different people you you could assign this to if you wanted to I’m ultimately going to take Doug dreck sa Young Award and give it to Frank Viola who pitched for the newor Mets That season um whether you use War uh BW or F War he was either the fourth or second best pitcher uh in Major League Baseball That season um and he has a lot of the counting stats in his favor as well he had a lower erra than Doug dreck in more Innings pitched and more batters faced so while that might not be the most complicated sa young case ever uh nor is this the sexiest year to break down Frank Viola was better in every way other then two pitcher wins that’s it and that’s just not enough to swing a sa young vat so I’m sorry for Doug dreck I’m sorry to his son Kyle uh but Frank Viola is now the 1990 NL sa young winner and Roger Clemens is the winner in the AL wow double door knocks baby so that’s eight eight for the rocket yep eight for the rocket wow the rich get richer as they say that’s right and Frank Frank Frank gets his second Frank won a 1988 with the twin twins yeah so congrats to those guys there you go what’s what’s my next year the next year that you will be looking into Justin Havens is the 1977 have we done that year no no the 1977 sa young yeah no who won Rookie of the Year that year Robin y w no he was so we’ve got we’ve got Sparky ly for the New York for the New York Yankees in the AL and Steve Carlton for the Phillies in the NL oh boy oh boy this is going to be fascinating oh my goodness the question isn’t is Sparky gonna lose it it’s who the hell is going to take it from Sparky because there’s about a dozen [ __ ] people who should just kidding I’m not though Sparky better watch out I feel like I don’t know Spar Sparky’s 80 right now so uh these MVP sa young segments and the now the redrafts it’s it’s keeping J alive like it’s it’s it does to him something Electric in his brain I love looking back through this stuff honestly I do it’s not fake it’s not for show Jared’s right I love offseason podcasts digging in on awesome stuff like this yeah people uh people want the mount rushmor back I know when you are those be awesome video segments too I think yeah yeah we got to figure out what we have left we’ve been working on the mount rushmor for at least seven years yeah yeah well you know we’re basically like the real Mount Rushmore sculptor at this point yeah taking a while it’s taking some time yeah they had some legal issues they were dealing with right oh yeah yeah confiscation of land yeah I think it was yeah yeah we didn’t do that yeah um I got to tell you I’m uh like minute by minute I’m getting a little more excited about this about sevy okay minute by minute minute by minute you’re mentally unstable Dallas no I I just I I think with with what the A’s have cooking on the starting pitching front cuz we had some guys take some big steps man some really big steps zaldo BAU took some big strides last year JP Sears took some big strides last year even in the face SE gave up a hit to Marty mush last year taking taking some lumps JP Sears did I believe so yes I know what Greg weisser did and I know he faced Sears and I’m pretty sure he like had like base H up the right field line oh God I got to talk to JP I got to talk to sizzle about that MH oh that’s unfortunate Marty not that bad but but yeah I I just I do I I think this is that’s why the move for the three-year period if you’re if you throw out the cynicism about whether or not the team’s competitive and how how early how soon can he get out of Oakland if we do away with that conversation and we really do we really do start to look at the substance I I think that can be provided with this because of the surrounding arms I think this is a very very good opportunity for guys not named Luis sevino to take charge or to to take command of opportunities down there in that in that rotation because now there’s one less spot spoken for and there’s only going to be so many opportunities to go around so the addition of a guy like this forces everybody else to be just that much better because now the idea of having a little extra rope or a little extra margin for error to work with because who’s pushing you who’s well these spots are just not as open as you thought they were um Jake hit that [ __ ] music oh [ __ ] welcome back to baseball is dead Family Feud I’m your man Justin Havens I’m gonna be honest with you guys I think I took it easy on you this week wow I think I gave you a layup I think this is a this might be eyewash for you guys we’ll see um I mean we we are coming off an L I know and I didn’t want to you the bad vibes with two straight L’s you guys you know kind of getting mentally fragile questioning like am I cut out for this family feud business after all like do I want to spend more time with my family instead of doing this and it’s like maybe I just throw a win um so sorry I let’s see uh Dallas went last last time so that means he’s up first this time correct yep so you guys yeah you came up way short last time okay yep 164 yes not great no we’re going to do better we are going to do better this time I know it for sure uh there is many many Pathways to Victory here so uh what you will find is while I might have taken it easy on you guys I did not take it easy on the keyboard um some of these questions are a little wordy Dallas likes those I know so fantastic um yeah whenever you’re ready Jared you just pop those or mute them or whatever you want to do were born on a Tuesday day during the winter solstice waxing gibbis who can just make sure just get your inner calm I gotta tell you like you know what we need we need the [ __ ] heart rate monitors that show the beats per minute on here because I’m pushing 210 right now that’s crazy I love that you just you threw a perfect game in mjor League Baseball and you you you get heart rate comments going for Family Feud on baseball is dead it’s not even a lie thing we’re recording like my my Palms are legitimately [ __ ] sweating right now this is great okay are you ready no okay uh as always it’s out of 100 B fans here are the results question number one the year is 2026 the golden at bat has been implemented in Major League Baseball excluding sh Otani if you could select one batter to use for the first time it’s available to you who would you choose Juan sto there have been six teams most prominently linked to trades for Garrett crochet so far this offseason the Orioles and Red Sox in the AL and the Dodgers Phillies Cubs and reds in the NL of those six teams where would crochet make the biggest impact in 2025 Orioles way to follow along buddy when I say say the first name Jose who is the first baseball player active or retired who comes to mind cono of the last five teams to lose in the World Series the 24 Yankees the 23 Dbacks the 22 Phillies the 21 Astros and the 20 Rays who was the best of those teams Phillies how many players will be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame via the BB waa from the 2025 ballot three nice job Dallas I feel like I did all right yeah you did how’d the little guy do oh yeah I think so good you you got put it like this the first oh never mind I don’t want to no tabl talk I don’t want to TBL talk you’re gonna have a great great path yes well the especially the first one coming up here the haters who said I made it too easy are going to be coming out of the woodwork um or Dallas was just that hot 154 I mean are you [ __ ] serious4 good Lord Jared he I’m gonna tell you he left meat on this bone too he didn’t leave with a picked over Thanksgiving turkey okay okay there’s a whole breast on the other side that I didn’t even see okay and I got to eye for some titties same are you ready yeah as always it’s out of a 100 B fans here are the results the year is 2026 the golden at bat has been implemented in Major League Baseball excluding sh Otani if you could select one batter to use for the first time it’s available to you who would you choose Aaron judge this there have been six teams most prominently linked to trade for Garrett crochet this offse Orioles and Red Sox in the and the Dodgers Phillies Cubs and reds in the NL of those six teams where would crochet make the biggest impact in 2025 Red Sox when I say the first name Jose who is the first baseball player active or retired who comes to mind Fernandez of the last five teams to lose the World Series the 24 Yanks the 23 Dbacks the 22 Phillies the 21 Astros and the 20 Rays who was the best of those teams oo um the 21 Astros I mean 21 Phillies no it was 21 Astros is what you you got it well I don’t know what you meant but we’re going with the 21 Astros cuz that’s that’s an option um how many players will be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame via the bbwaa this in the 2025 ballot this cycle uh three uh two thank you right let’s see what we got here and you know who I picked for the first question the golden a back question all right here we go let’s do this Jared needed uh he needs a scant 46 points question one the golden at bat question I won’t read it all Butler uh Dallas answered Juan stto which was the number one overall answer with 28 Jared who I thought he would avoid this guy um but to his credit he went with it and it’s the number two answer Aaron judge 22 points so you are well on your way sir you’re already up to 176 need 24 more points no no one else even got double digits obviously there was quite a spread with this answer including somebody voting for show anyway um Bryce Bryce Harper was the third most common answer with nine that’s how I was gonna go with Freddy yordon and Bobby Whit Jr uh were the rest of the top Roman Anthony got a vote um Jean Carlos Danton and even David Ortiz stuck in there oh and I’m seeing Charlie curome as well uh Barry Bonds also made the list so shout out to the Discord on a really good really good set of answers there 24 points needed with four questions left there have been six teams most prominently linked to trades for garri crochet uh Dallas came through with the number two answer which was the Orioles at 18 Jared guessed the Red Sox playing the Homer bit and that’s the winner there it is finishes it off with three left on the table Red Sox got you 51 so it sounds like the Discord is a fan of getting garri crochet maybe as long as it doesn’t cost you Roman Anthony of course that brings you up to 227 already with three questions left I will go through those uh the Jose question uh Dallas said cono that was the third most common answer with nine uh Jared said Fernandez that was actually tied for the fifth most common answer with seven number one Altuve 36 number two Joe Ram with 22 um the World Series loser question uh Dallas got the number one I frankly can’t believe it was this overwhelming uh but people have a very fond memory of the 22 Phillies I guess uh the 22 Phillies got 61 of the 100 possible votes uh and Jared came through with the number two answer which was the 21 Astros which I think I think would probably be my vote um uh with 30 votes uh the Rays got six the d-s got two and anybody who wants to argue that the 23 Dbacks were better than the 24 Yankees uh I might give my personal phone number too so we can have that one out but that’s okay um and the uh question number five the bbwaa Hall of Fame Dallas got the number one answer I I think it’s even I think three is the overwhelmingly likely correct answer here uh that was worth 38 I think that’s probably going to be Ichiro CC and I would imagine Wagner gets in given how close he is uh Jared got the with two got the third most common answer for 15 so with all of those you guys got a robust total of 270 love that I’m Coming For That Ass next week you better believe that [ __ ] so so wait like on average do we both kind of do we come close for like point total well no because points the last view points don’t matter or the last three whatever like whatever gets us to 200 no for his oh you’re saying for no no no that counts for Jared’s average it has to you don’t get cut off you’re talking about for the Discord stat tracker thing yeah well yeah because there’s only like once you get to like those because the person going second would never have yeah I mean they’re likely to go to get worse but you don’t get cut off on your answers you don’t stop accumulating those points oh we credit for all those oh I didn’t know I didn’t know yes okay yeah and that’s always been the case so I’m not it’s not just starting now um Dallas got 154 and Jared got 125 a nice team effort I mean that’s a that’s it’s a damn good team effort be our record yeah Discord check that please no we got like we did like the first one we did I got like 195 or whatever and you would have gotten you would have gotten the same you and Joe I think no way yeah there was one there was one where like you and Joe had like 300 points I could have swore the first one cuz it was like all right Jared you got to answer like one question and get it right and we [ __ ] crushed yeah and then there was one where Dallas had 209 yeah I did that’s why I think the math on this [ __ ] is [ __ ] up I don’t know how I’m you’ve had some real bad runs though yeah I have still still you have actually answered teams for players and you You’ you’ve answered players for teams that’s you no no no no J did he not answer like blue jays for like who what was the player with like the most home runs in a decade or something yeah didn’t you answer a food item at one point too looking name not me food no I said something about the weing fun of you didn’t didn’t that was for no no no no no no the Blue Jays was for the uh uh the Frank Thomas guessed his player ah because I was like I was running through the teams he was on the Derby and I was like he played for the Jays and then I said the Jays and then I said Frank Thomas right after that yeah well that’s just more ass kicking going on on behalf of us another dub it’s good to be back in the wind column you me um yeah we got to talk off L about what the [ __ ] we’re going to do next week for like the midweek episode but if if possible recording on Sunday because then I fly Monday and then where are you going Disney Magical time man magical time where Florida did we talk about this you’re going to Florida right Orlando yeah Orlando right are you uh you have everything set up tour and everything I mean we’re going there for the popw cheer Nationals so I think oh that’s right yeah so the uh competition’s on Tuesday and then I think Wednesday Thursday is like when we’re going to have like Disney time but like I don’t know how we’re going to pull off all of it I don’t know still trying to figure that out so let me give you some advice you are going to make a reservation to have a VIP tour is what you are going to do and that’s going to be with you your lovely girlfriend your lovely family and you will at most I don’t know if this works the way it does out here in La at this but you’re going to be in line for four minutes is that how that work you just walk you just walk to the front of the line everywhere everywhere what’s that R you have we don’t have to talk about that but we but that it the if if you have a large family or if you have like a group of four or five or more this is how I strongly suggest attending something like this because otherwise your day is filled with trying to figure out how to make waiting in line fun and cool and you’re going to pick like five rides Six maybe that you really want to get to and you’re going to walk to those and wait in line and try to get on those outside of that it it’s tough it’s tough but with this buddy I went on we go on every ride almost multiple times in that’s crazy between California Adventure and the regular theme park you spend you spend an eight hour day there with a VIP tour you see [ __ ] everything you go back and drink beers with Mickey all right I’ll look into it can we worth it but I mean of course it’s the same week as the [ __ ] winter meeting so I’m just going to be not enjoying it at all just waiting for Wan sto the entire time and just panicking that it happened and I missed it or something like that so yeah I’ll do my best to enjoy it but I won’t those family photos right out in front like this just yep it’s on my phone yep yep I’m heavily depending on like my support system of you guys like text me call like if it happens like make sure you guys where I when I was in Taylor Swift I I could have used the updates instead I was what happened during Taylor Swift the world I know Freddy Freeman hit the biggest [ __ ] grand slam of his life uh we were live streaming yeah so was I [ __ ] the arrow tour right in my mouth yeah had a great time yeah see there you go no complaining no complaints I just got to get through next week next week is just going to be hell it’s just I just got to get through so so for the folks listening at this please please do not spam Jared with fake breaking news tweets about Soto’s landing spot don’t do that that would I have notifications on for passing that’s all I need I don’t care about what people tweet me I don’t see that that that would be terrible and and because J we all know that if you were to look at your phone and see something like that you would just very readily dismiss it you wouldn’t think think anything of it you would just keep moving yeah yeah I would so don’t do that yeah my brain fall this is this is my first rodeo 2025 will be my 20th season covering baseball so it’s gonna take more than that to sneak a fastball by I I always just want to go back to the winter meetings now hoping that we hoping that we can catch the [ __ ] Garrett Cole conversation again in just R Place that that was just it just hearing a team talk about how much they whiffed on woto by yeah exactly like just I want to see two dudes pissed off in a quarter in some Speak Easy are you [ __ ] serious are you [ __ ] we came to the table with 600 and that’s it and that’s it we got laughed out of the building at 600 he didn’t even call us back just see he could get up to 750 I there’s no way 15 years 750 no come on think about that 15 years bro 15 years I I I had this thought when the first 10year contract was getting thrown around because it was just because as a player you’re like buddy this is what you play for you play for 10 years you play to get to that 10 year mark now you play one year and you’re just guaranteed the 10 year holy [ __ ] 15 years that’s quite the commitment feels like he’s been in the league for [ __ ] 20 already yeah like 15 years ago life was a lot different like how how old is Juan soda right now 26 so he legitimately is signing a contract for just slightly under half of the time he’s been on earthh yeah we’ll see any pred J where does wo go I’m sticking with my prediction from the last time Yankees until I see otherwise oh boy it’s not what I’m rooting for necessarily but I think that’s sounds like you are sounds like you are Dallas what’s Your Gut telling you where’s wano signing look man I think people dismiss the long storied history of Dominican stardom in Boston and I think that uh what we do provides a massive talking point for people to Rally around stto to Boston and it also provides people a massive opportunity to [ __ ] on the very idea of him heading there but when you when you weed through it all and you see the lineage and you see the history and if the Red Sox are at a point in time where they’re supposed to be trying to get back to their competitive nature it feels like this is probably a guy that you could bring in house to turn that tide to help you start to turn that tide so while I believe the Yankees are the incumbent favorite I think the Red Sox are not that far out of the race I love to hear that um I’ll ask you before we leave the first emergency pod that we do will be for I mean it’s got to be SoDo it has to be who else I mean who else like could be freed could be fre I mean not much SM around Corbin Burns I mean I feel like he’s kind of waiting on SoDo but I don’t know that freed is well I I think naturally the conversation starts to go to if anybody of these if any of these teams that are in on stto Miss then you got to believe that that group starts to heavily focus on some of these other guys and that that could very well mean the Yankees are all in on Juan sto and if sto throws them the curveball maybe they’re not expecting and he chooses Boston now I could very easily see New York go well you know what the arms those are ours we’re done [ __ ] around we didn’t get stto fine you know who we’re not going to miss on two fists of a starting rotation that can get us to where we want to be so here it is how is Gonna Roll Up the sleeves and he’s gonna have to do something yeah it’s too bad that they feel that way I mean they missed the playoffs without stto like he’s the biggest Difference Maker and they’re like they’re losing [ __ ] clay Holmes they’re losing glaber they’re losing herugo I mean I I refuse to believe that the Yankees are going to let Juan SoDo walk to the Red Sox or the Mets over money it’s not that they’re letting it happen there’s only so much you can do about it if he doesn’t want to I don’t when somebody shows up and tells you they got 50 mil more than you got and and like okay J how long do you want to work for your money I’ve got 50 more for it that’s my point that’s my point I’m saying I I I can’t imagine that they are going to take the pr like if there’s no evidence that Juan stto wants to be in Boston or with the Mets more than he wants to be with the Yankees that’s all spe that’s all speculation okay so if we assume for a second that he’s equally interested in these places for different reasons I have an enormously difficult time imagining that the Yankees ownership group is going to let Juan stto walk for similar money like now if Steve Cohen offers $150 million more like okay I guess maybe there’s nothing you can do about that but like I if it’s if it really is on the margins I just the pr hit that you would take as the Yankees brand for letting your superstar in his prime player who is the key to Jared’s point to you making the post not like the only reason but the difference between making and not making uh in some senses I just can’t I can’t imagine a world where that’s the case now if it comes out after the fact that he really hated his experience there and wants to play elsewhere then we can have a different conversation but my sources are telling me he hated it it didn’t seem like it seemed like he thrived no he yeah in the I mean Mike Tyson much better than he was in San Diego you know Mike Tyson came out of prison looking in better physical condition than he’s ever been in so not everyone doesn’t thrive in in a situation they don’t want to be in so okay fact okay am I wrong I I don’t think so uh so yep telling you what my sources are telling me that he’s the new Mike Tyson similarly yes hopefully the younger version not the one we saw uh Tak an intentional fall to one of the Paul Brothers oh come on oh come on dude it’s yeah that’s a whole different can of worms all right uh if uh schedules allow we’ll be back um sometime Sunday to record to drop Monday or Sunday night I don’t know we’ll figure it out we got to talk offline about how the hell we’re going to navigate all this uh but in the meantime if anything breaks we will be here to record an emergency podcast reaction didn’t have to do an emergency for uh Severino because luckily we were already recording but if any of the big fish end up going we will uh be right back here to record so we’ll see you then we go
