The Chicago Bears woke up a bit too late from a Thanksgiving nap on a holiday loss to the Detroit Lions on Thursday. Matt Eberflus’ team trailed 16-0 at halftime before Keenan Allen found the end zone to open the second half. On that play, Caleb Williams broke a pair of records. He set the NFL rookie record for most consecutive passes without an interception (212 passes). He also set the Bears rookie record with his 12th TD pass of the season. Later, it was another Caleb to Keenan connection for a score. The Bears had a chance to win or tie in the 4th but failed to use a timeout or complete a play in time. oh do we have some things to say CH Bears postgame show starts right now [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] Who ah you just got to laugh at this point I don’t I I you just I’m sorry if you’re not laughing then um try too that’s all I can say this is unbelievable uh welcome in the Cs show Bears postgame show after yet another ridiculous way in which the Bears found to to lose a winnable game against a good football team that’s three in a row and four in their last six games I’m Adam hog Mark Carman Greg reags Jr we are still here with you sadly we will always be here with you no matter how many times this franchise Happy Thanksgiving to anybody that’s tuned in here right now we know you’re hanging out with your families um pretty wild ending as per usual but we’ll get into all that but I want to start off by saying we really appreciate everyone that supports this program um and that’s why we continue to do the work even on the holidays because we love all you guys and we all deserve better you know it was 16 ditto to all of that thank Happy Thanksgiving to everybody out there 16 nothing at the half it was one of the worst halfs of football the Bears have played and the head coach of the Chicago Bears walked off the field at his interview and was the happiest guy I’ve ever seen and said we’re about to pop and I thought it was the most ridiculous thing I’d ever seen and then the bears actually popped they this was a unbel it was incredible that the bears actually got in position to win this football game against the Lions on the road and then it was even more incredible of how they didn’t win the football game uh but before we get into that reaction I want to te you up Adam hul for your instant reaction cuz that’s how we start these things and 2320 Lions beat the Bears I gota be honest with you I need to go on a little rant here for a second I can’t wait let’s [Music] go okay so Caleb Gets sacked there with 32 seconds left the play started at 36 he’s on the ground at 32 and I’m I have this in front of me right now I’m I’m watching it so it’s third and six at the 41 third and 26 third and 26 okay you have now been probably sacked out of field goal range I think it would have been a 58 yard from there which is I mean right at the absolute limit of CYO Santos’s range um and you have one timeout in your pocket and there is absolutely no urgency at the start and then here at 21 seconds so 11 seconds have already gone by Caleb is frantically now signaling to everybody um to get going to get on the line around 15 seconds they are everybody’s on the line but DJ Moore and uh Cole KT are confused on who’s supposed to be on the ball and who’s supposed to be off the ball people are SC screaming from the sidelines and they finally get set up properly and finally the ball snap with about six seconds left so I don’t know how a timeout isn’t called anywhere in there um you can de like the perfect situation is everybody gets on the ball there you throw a pass over the middle you burn your time out you kick the field goal you go overtime that’s how it’s supposed to work that’s how it would work with almost any other NFL team out there but this looks like a high school team but I know high school teams that would have figured that out better that would have executed that better so all this time in the summer about situations we watched it I mean they do practice it we watched it in training camp they do practice it but something’s not clicking there and I’m look Caleb has to once they’re at the line Caleb has to SN s the ball but they weren’t lined up properly then he still doesn’t snap it definitely some of that blame has to be on the quarterback for not getting the playoff faster I get it but if you’re the head coach there’s absolutely no way that football game could end in a loss there with you still having a timeout in your pocket it just can’t at some point during all that chaos you have to understand all right we got to burn a timeout because you still have two downs and you have to use those two downs even if they end up being two shots to the end zone because you screwed it up so badly at least you get two shots to the end zone cut your losses at some point in there but you’re not prepared for the moment you freeze every single time I mean they should take Matt eberl and remove him from the field at the two-minute warning of every game and they would have a better chance of winning and I don’t think I’ve ever said that about a Bears head coach and I don’t know what else to say at this point cuz I can’t lie to you guys I can’t lie to anybody there’s nothing left to protect here he is a horrible situational head coach at the end of these games so blame the rookie quarterback there’s certainly blame to go around there you’re the coach of the rookie quarterback you should know that you have to protect them the same thing happened last week it can’t be on Caleb the call timeout on that fourth and four someone on the sideline needs to have the responsibility to burn the timeout it’s ridiculous he cannot be your head coach tomorrow morning you’re an unserious organization if you don’t make a move tomorrow so that yeah okay all right uh and i e goes but so your ideal scenario I would do it slightly differently look firearm right now well well look it’s it’s third and 20 at at at at the Lions 35 by the way again this drive started on the Bears own one yard line it was an impressive ass drive you had thir third and seven at your own four you picked up the first down you had third and one at your own 38 you picked that one up too you had third and four at the Detroit 44 I mean it was it was an impressive clutch big throws DJ Moore experience all right you had the ball all the way down to the 25 yard line we’re thinking about going in and scoring a touchdown you had a and then you went backwards you went back to the 35 on a with a teevin Jenkins ripping someone’s helmet off which was ridiculous and now you get sacked okay but once you get sacked at the 41 yd line you know MD you have a rookie quarterback he’s on the ground okay there’s 30 seconds left you have the timeout there’s no there’s no thought process time out right then reset everything give them a break let let’s and and you and you tell them this is the play we’re going to try to get out of bounds field goal unit Richard Hightower you’re ready to run on the field if he doesn’t get it because we we have to have you out there to kick the field goal because we have no more timeouts left and we can’t down it those are your two options that’s what you that would have been to me the most logical thing you could have done right there time out reather set your best play that hopefully will get you out of balance but if not field goal unit you are going on the field tie the ball game nail at Cairo here we go let’s go Caleb we’re still winning this game done but he can’t think in the moment he cannot do it over and over and over again with this this entire season started with him not thinking in the moment in the commanders game which was a obviously a win incredible performance Again by Caleb in the fourth quarter and again those 13 yards don’t matter to the middle of the field and then your your Tyreek Stevenson’s doing whatever he was doing and you blew that one and just the snowball has just continued it’s amazing how much this losing streak is on the head coach I I don’t I don’t think you’ve ever SE literally I don’t think in the NFL you could ever point to what is it now six games in a row they’ve lost where four of them are directly if not all six with the way they just died against the Cardinals and the Patriots right on the head coach’s head and and real quick right before you go off because I know you’re gonna do your thing here um two things on that one is the players all know that they’re not dumb theyve and and that’s why they s keep saying we think we have the talent to win these games we you just listen to them and I’m sure I can’t wait to hear what’s going on in that locker room right now we’re going to get it all to you Nick’s there fordfield we’re going to get you as much sound as we can we’ll hear from Maddie refl we’ll hear from Kayla I can’t wait to hear all this because they’ve already been telling you they’ve already been telling you with their messages if you’ve been listening uh carefully but yes that great Point by you there because that was another option you had you could have called timeout right away and then you set yourself up for Mayday a Mayday field goal which is because they’re going to guard the sidelines because they they’re not coached by Matty RL so they would guard the sidelines in that situation and and then you can still get something over the middle and then they Mayday they practice that too believe it or not and you had plenty of time to do it if you bang the timeout right away at the sack so that so the point is between what I said as an option what Karm said as an option both are options the Bears chose neither right and then the third option is a well-prepared team in the moment gets to the line of scrimmage you have one time out in your pocket it’s third down run a play you have the entire field at your disposal to get back into field goal range find an easy completion and immediately or run the clock down and call timeout and kick the field goal and attempt to try the game so they did none of these three and how after 12 games this season where they’ve had chance after chance after chance of simulating this very moment every game is this moment and so they’re still not prepared for it it just keeps smacking them in the face and so all that is just kind of a moot point I I could I I can scream and curse into this mic all day I lost that weeks ago Matt Eber flu should have been fired after the Patriots game and now you’ve had three straight games where situational football has failed you because your head coach isn’t prepared for the moment and doesn’t have his team prepared for the moment if they don’t do the right thing tomorrow and fire Matt eberl as you said they’re not a serious organization and then you know what I’m cheering for I’m cheering for every single game the rest of the year to go exactly like this because this season is obviously done and so if Caleb Williams wants to continue to throw three touchdown passes and and and Lead comebacks to the very end and then Matt eberl embarrasses this organization that’s what they deserve that’s what they deserve because they didn’t have the tarity to fire Matty reflu the day they fired Shane Waldren look at how much the offense has turned a corner since you got Shane Waldren out of the building get Matt eus out of the building and maybe the defense starts to have a little pep in their step as well but you don’t want to do that you don’t want to do that we’ll see what you do tomorrow but if you take yourself seriously as an organization as H said that’s exactly what you’re doing tomorrow and I take no pleasure in trying in talking about firing someone on Thanksgiving but this is a business this is a business put your big boy pants on George mccy get your big boy pants on Kevin Warren get your big boy pants on Ryan poles and start doing what’s necessary but if you don’t then these games are going to continue to happen the rest of the year and you won’t just lose the respect of the fan base through that process you’re losing respect from the players every single week this transpires so talk about culture talk about rolling that over into next year you’re playing a dangerous game you guys up in h hall because this the these players I promise you have had enough of this crap and by the way it wasn’t just the end of the game which was another catastrophe we started with another horrible challenge which if you if you know today’s challenge was way worse than last week’s if you at know at anything about what the catch rule is now and I know for a long time it was very confusing there are still some here and there that are a little confusing but this one was not you need to have control of the ball and take a move up field and he never did that and before CBS could even show their second replay the red flags on the field it was horrible and adding like probably literal literal insult to the whole situation Jim Nance the best play-by-play guy out there can’t even get the head coach’s name right in year three e flu that’s the best one and I don’t blame Nance for that you also because you know what I think that’s only like the second or third time Nance has had to call Bears game the last three years because you’re never on the CBS number one broadcast right because you’re not good enough and so he doesn’t know how to say your name and apparently you’re not making enough of a uh you know that that’s that’s that that’s amazing that nobody told eer flu sorry that’s a little bit on n and you talk about all right so then uh talk about repeated mistakes the the the bad challenge to start the game you also had on uh fourth and short another situation where the Bears are clearly in the the offense is trying to draw the Bears defense off sides and it’s Fourth and short and you and you fall for it that’s discipline school that’s discipline you know uh Keenan Allen at the end of the game with the with the um penalty you know for unsportsmanlike conduct that’s discipline I get he was frustrated and right rightfully so there were some really bad calls in these games um they certainly aren’t getting any luck when it comes to that but you know what losers don’t get luck right and so that’s what happens when you have this losing Aura around you the refs for whatever reason aren’t going to give you the benefit of the doubt you did get the benefit of the doubt they gave him a a borderline ridiculous pass interference call yep I mean that you that was a um that was a a you said you know the drive started at the one and it was this great drive it was pretty chaotic honestly there was some great moments there was some chaos moments there was sacks there was penalties there was you know it was just all over the place the Miss throw by Caleb on the DJ Moore Crosser that would have went for six with about 40 seconds left so that drive had a little bit of everything and really uh this whole game was a microcosm of what this whole Bears season is and that’s takes a whole half to get going and then somehow in a game you had no business winning then all of a sudden you should have won and then you lost I think there’s four or five games now where you can have that same narrative let’s get a big money Super Chat in here starting to get those passing yards up three touchdowns we talked in the pregame show how no team would throw for two touchdowns against the Lions All Season Caleb throws three um gets them in position once again for Flo to blow the game I mean he is really good at that he is fourth quarter Caleb I’m gonna put my head coach in perfect position to do something stupid you need a first round pick if you need a number one pick in the draft Yeah call yourself Matt eberl he’ll get you one you know I it was um I would still call this an up and down game for Caleb I you know most of the first half was not very good there were some misses along the way um including late he he needed to hit DJ Moore on that Crosser and it looked like DJ Moore had a chance to take that all the way into the end zone if he did oh yeah so he absolutely did um was a big Miss and obviously I he’s got to snap that ball faster at the end of the game despite his head coach screwing him by not calling a timeout there you you you gota and a more experienced quarterback would definitely do that so look I think overall everyone feeling great about Caleb this is three games in a row um three good teams again in the north it sucks that he’s now 0 and3 against the NFC North because in my opinion he’s done enough in all three games to be three and 0 and that’s that’s that sucks man it’s because this this starts to be his record too right now he’s 4 and8 too yeah and and there you know and these are the things that end up being talked down the line oh he’s you know hasn’t want an NFC North game yet and it’s like that doesn’t tell the whole story because he’s done enough to do it and and so you know I got a feel for Caleb at the same time too while also acknowledging that there were there were probably six to seven plays in this game that he probably would tell you that he would he would make that throw or he would do you know do this differently I mean as you said on the D the first touchdown Drive te Keenan Allen where he breaks two records on his on one throw on the first touchdown pass he broke the alltime NFL record for consecutive attempts uh without an interception and then he broke the franchise rookie or as a rookie um for consecutive attempts without an interception and then broke the all-time franchise touchdown record for a rookie in Chicago Bears history but on that drive it was the full Caleb Williams experience you know running for his life trying to make circus plays sacks then all of a sudden they find themselves he makes some miraculous plays at a touchdown this entire game was the full Caleb Williams experience where they can’t get anything going in the first half and then the light comes on and so it’s it’s within him he has all the talent in the world they have to get a coaching staff that’s not only prepared we continue to focus on the preparation or lack thereof at the end of games but we also have to acknowledge the lack of preparation for this team on their first drives in their first quarters in their first halves because every time it’s putting them behind and then they have to play catchup which makes your margin of err razor thin this isn’t a team that can afford that right now so please for the love of God hire a coach that can get this team and this quarterback prepared to play some football every week so first of all I mean this is a d down and then up game like he and today like there was a point deep in the third in the second quarter where you know we were talking as we’re watching theame I think he had 13 yards passing so for him to get to where what he finished with 256 that is that is a major major turnaround but look he had the one touchdown pass to DJ in the left corner of the Enzo where he signaled he saw and he just an absolute perfect throw for a touchdown was I mean you you that’s exactly what you are looking for and to be able to dig yourself out of the holes that they’re in and get back to where they’re it’s just incredibly impressive now sure he’s holding it too long at times sacked again five times today you’re you I mean I think every Bears fan is watching saying get rid of it get rid of it and he’s he’s at times at least he needs to get rid of it faster but I’m not worried about his record hog like none of that I mean it matters a little bit at you know in the future it’ll matter a ton but right now it’s about getting him to a point where he sees it as fast as possible and the only thing that’s missing right now really is just start faster come out of the gates firing if they if they start doing that and he if he plays in the first half like he plays in the second half you’re the Bears will start winning a lot of football games no question about it they they they did do a better job the last couple weeks of getting off to you know at least a little bit better start today today I would say it was understandable especially the first quarter I mean look you don’t want to go three and out but you did and then you didn’t really get the ball back till the second quarter right because you know the lions were doing and they run like Detroit’s a good football team that’s why my my point is you playing a really good team today so now by the end of the second quarter I’m like all right this is getting a little different you know where are the where are the adjustments but I will say Thomas Brown made adjustments so I didn’t think he was running enough man Concepts against man defense like where were the picks where were the rubs and all this now they start doing it Cole K gets called for two Obi that can’t happen um those were both good calls and then the one in the Middle where he um where they ran the play correctly that’s how you run that pick play but at least the coordinator was starting to call stuff better to he made adjustments to what the lions were doing this is a good Lions defense we talked about that in the pregame show and at the end of the game they did plenty of things to bust some of these amazing tending that remember before the game I said they hadn’t a lot of point in 10 quarters yep well add two more onto that they the Bears had no points at halftime right so they were on a hell of a run so it’s it’s not it’s notable what Caleb Williams and the Bears offense were able to do in the second half there to get 20 points on the board I mean seven for 15 on third down is impressive that’s three straight weeks now since Thomas Brown’s been calling plays where they’re dialed in on third down what were they on fourth down fourth down today the Bears were they were over for two over for two so that didn’t help your point but that’s okay but they’ve been very good on fourth down as well over for two is not going to no you’re absolutely right but I was curious yeah no you’re you’re absolutely right and look look it’s not just on third down too it’s like third down fourth quarter have to have it and they’re and they’re I mean second and 25 you know they make a big throw most sometimes it’s just a feeling thing like when it’s are there any plays where you’re like you’re feeling like oh we don’t have a chance to to convert this year right not anymore it doesn’t feel that way and that’s that’s a huge thing just for Bears fans for for those of us to cover this team for a long time like it’s just like you have a chance with Caleb on any play even when he’s standing in the back of his own End Zone and he just do a little dump off was at the DJ I think and he runs off with it like they they they now I also feel like he could take a sack On Any Given play but but they they have a chance to convert and move the sticks on any play no matter the situation I even felt there on that third when that ball was in the air on that last play I’m like there’s a chance this gets caught now it would have been caught at the one yard line as the clock expired but it could have been caught right the the miracle play today where he was he looked like he was running out of bounds then he flipped it to DJ and then last momes ask yeah the last week you know he’s running and he leaps up in the air throws against his body Lofts it to DeAndre Swift like you those plays obviously you can’t rely on them but when you tend to make one every single week then it’s like oh well you know that whole Superman thing that him and Thomas Browner talking about like you know run the play do what do what the offense is calling for just you know be a standard quarterback and then okay then now you can go be Superman like the fact that that’s been a conversation with those two and that bond is super exciting yeah you’re 100% right hog when you talk about this quarter you’re never out of a game with this quarterback and one thing I did not think the lions were going to do today was play with their food and through this game losing streak we have seen multiple teams play with their food and let the Bears get back in it Washington Green Bay Minnesota and now Detroit and the thing about the common denominator in all four of those comebacks is your quarterback the common denominator of why you lost all those games is your head coach one game you lost because of special teams and defense the next game you lose because of a block kick the next game you lose because of the offense and the CL and and not getting a timeout or or you know getting a first down or taking a sack so it’s every level of this team all three phases are failing you at the end situationally and where does that come back to your head coach Caleb good flu bad that is that’s the story of the 2024 Chicago Bears but I I do want to rewind back to just and I I understand Bears fans it’s like it’s a hard to like be super excited like yes they’re moving in the right direction but it was 23-7 heading into the fourth quarter 16 zip at half Bears teams don’t get themselves in position to win these games they just don’t last week you’re down 11 you have no business you know granted it took getting an extra it you know getting it on inside kick but a lot of times the Bears get the inside kick and they don’t throw a 30 yard bullet down the middle to set up for the field goal so like it does feel like they’re they’re getting awful close here and if you put the right leadership in there to take the talent that is here and you add on a good draft which by the way to your point about losing games like you’re going to get a high draft pick this year you would think even with the incredibly tough division here that this could turn in a real from time to time and um I just wonder like how do I want to say this um say it meanly and aggressively yeah I mean you have a point are you not watching the games there it is get him like like s like I get it like not every game is going to go well the every you know I thought Dan Campbell I was on Ben Johnson I was complaining about Ben Johnson in the middle of this game I thought there were times that he was throwing the ball when he should just be running running the ball R just they’re running all over the Bears why would you get away from it um you know so the there there was there were definitely moments Matt laflor had uh the stupid decision on fourth down against the Bears a few weeks ago um but the problem is you can’t take advantage of it in any of these games and you find you’re they are literally inventing ways to lose like I have never seen some of this stuff that’s happening to them and to have it happen four times now in six games in a six-game stretch you have found four wild ways to lose the game and in the other two you just didn’t show up completely which is also on coaching so I get it I I get the idea that like it can’t all be coaching it’s not we’ve pointed out all the other things I my opening statement I talked about how Caleb could have handled that end of the game situation better too but there is one underlying theme because we’ve seen the offense blow it the defense blow it and the Special Teams blow it well as uh our guy John Fox once said uh Matt E coordinates all three he’s in charge of the football team and he’s in charge of the game situations uh of you know when to call timeout how to handle all this stuff and it’s been horribly handled horribly handled look all he had if let’s just say he did my play of what should happened there he calls timeout with 30 seconds to go the bears go out there they run a play they get 10 yards outruns Cairo on the fire drill field goal unit Cairo kicks it it goes off the upright misses wide left whatever not your fault Matt eberl you did exactly what you should have done imagine if you go back to the Washington game hey guard the sideline don’t let them have they somehow some way they they get into the range and then they throw the and and I Stevenson and the entire bears are all in position not on not on Matt IRL stuff happens but you can point to direct exact right there you did not understand what needed for your football team your job is is not an easy job right your job is you have to be able to think quickly in the moment it’s not I’m not no one is saying that it’s easy but it’s also your job that’s why they pay you millions of dollars to be the head coach of a team in the NFL and you’ve been doing this by the way for a long long long long long long time but not as the head coach when you hire a linebacker coach defensive coordinator who hasn’t done it needs to think of the moment which is what the Bears do sometimes you get a guy who’s completely who completely freezes in it and right and so you’ve seen it and now you got to move on well and that’s the thing to James’s chat of saying like oh always blaming the coaches it feels like at this point we’re just piling on right like that’s that’s the vibe you get where everybody just every everything is the coach is to blame and so like somebody that’s trying to come up with a fresh thought is going to zigg while everybody else is zag he keeps giving us something new every week it you just have to call it for what it is it’s not piling on it’s a reality it’s an unfortunate reality again I take no pleasure in t this is beating a dead horse and the front office is to blame for not having dead turkey the the Dead turkey the the it’s beating a dead turkey it’s not it is the front office to blame for us to have to continue to talk about the failures of mattyo he should no longer be here he should have been shown the door the day Shane waldram was shown the door and maybe over these last three games they win one or two or maybe even all three of these games we’ll never know but what I do know is that Matt E berlu has direct fingerprints on the reasons they’ve lost lost these games here at the end the the field goal preparation not running a play before the field goal against Green Bay one special teams two next game against the Vikings playing prevent on second and first and 20 in overtime and then it’s second and 10 you play prevent again letting the Vikings walk down the field for the game-winning field goal two defense three now offense isn’t ready in the final moment of the game on a national Spotlight the entire country is watching people that never watch football are watching today and I promise you MIMA in Omaha is asking why the hell didn’t they run a play there once that impressive congratulations I we all wanted Harbaugh but you know I can at least rationalize the what what the logic was and the variables of why they didn’t let go of Matty refl in January I didn’t agree with it but I can at least rationalize the logic once we lost to the Patriots at Soldier Field 19-3 the Patriots on Sunday were losing 35 to nothing and the Bears lost to them 19-3 at home and so in that moment any rationalization or Logic for keeping Matt Eber Flo was gone and you still kept him so you I’m sorry I’m sure it hurts George George mcy I’m sure it hurts Kevin Warren I’m sure it hurts Ryan poles but you deserve it the last three games because you couldn’t do what was necessary and now tomorrow the day after Thanksgiving tonight you have to make a decision on a holiday to to do something that I’m sure you don’t want to do that you take no pleasure in doing because I’m sure you like Matt Eber flu sure he’s a good guy nobody’s saying otherwise he’s a bad head coach that’s the reality so it’s it it’s it’s time for the team to heal it’s time for the organization to heal from this do what’s necessary tomorrow on Black Friday and we will you know move on with our lives and you guys will have to work on a Friday um there was also this from JJ Watt man I feel for you Bears fans that was just brutal literal coach male practice um yeah to to Greg’s Point like about year three like we we’ve talked about it a bunch we talked about all offseason but you know the one thing was like well they haven’t been good enough to really see what how he coaches in close games with a good roster like we hadn’t really learned that yet we really needed to do it now we’ve learned it we have learned it the hard way a lot here uh let’s hear from Cole K nobody could have figured it out after they blew million games last this the texts are still rolling in my good friend Justin gear says uh gear says Mima is right uh Cole KT uh just spoke to reporters at Ford Field uh here’s what he had to say you guys um competed like hell in the second half yeah after digging at yourself a pretty big hole yeah I got to imagine frustration is as high or higher after not being yeah I mean yeah frustration is pretty high right now I mean upsetting I mean there’s definitely things that we could cleaned up um I know me specifically there’s things that I can clean up um but um I mean the series games are just battles so proud of the way the guys came out in the second half here we knew we saw some things we just had to clean up a little things here and there and um thought we executed pretty well the whole second half offensively and got ourselves back in it and just um just a little a little too late there that’s an astounding finish how do you describe the last 30 seconds yeah I I honestly I I didn’t even I don’t even know um I all of a sudden see everybody come on the field and the game’s over so I was like kind like what the just happened um so uh yeah I mean obviously we take you know the sack happens and you know you probably wish I I didn’t see the by the time I turned around kale was pretty much already on the ground so um free run it was a free runner okay yeah um yeah so I mean we just got to find a way to not take a sack there wherever and fortunately the clock keeps running and I’m sure the the thought proc process was then to be able to get some yardage and then take the timeout and then kick the field goal um but we were just a little uh seemed a little too late on that so um and then that ended up being the final play in the clock manag what should have happened to keep you guys alive um well I think as players I think we can um you know realize where the clock’s at after the sack and get on the ball quickly and and and execute whatever play Caleb’s calling and then and then get on the ball and then and then be be able to clock it or then and then be able to use that timeout at the end um I guess that’s what I’d say for for Co do you feel like there’s an underlying theme to so um there’s Cole Ked and um you can just see how nauseous and nauseating and Weighing on it it is on all of them ESP and specifically Cole from that well and he basically said what I suspected like you’re just trying to you know that’s just a lot to ask a rookie quarterback in that situation and then I the one followup I would have loved to he hear and there was he and DJ Moore were confused on who was supposed to be on the ball and who was off and that cost him some seconds there and I would just loved to know why um I guess it’s good that I co-host a show with him and can ask him myself but I because that definitely contributed to some of the the clock we’re gonna get you Matt eflu here he’s talking a little bit later than usual but did you see Tom peliso tweet this um Bears coach Matty rlus on the final sequence um he said The Hope was to rck the play snap the ball at 18 seconds throw inbounds call timeout and then kick the field goal he still likes how they handled it quote we’ve just got to do a better job together right see again SE let okay let me I’m just me one second just to say this look dude you are the guy that has said that you don’t want your players talking publicly and that and they came back at you to for you to say wanting you to to have your your own form of accountability it’s too late now it doesn’t really matter I get that but also do the right thing that’s my bad I should have called timeout I did not put my team in the best place to win the football game I put too much on my rookie quarterback I was hoping for this but in hindsight I had it wrong my apologies to the team done with it right it starts with mean with but here here’s the problem I’m sorry to interrupt but at 18 so he wanted the ball snap at 18 seconds okay I just freeze I just freeze this at 18 seconds they’re not even close to lined up right so call timeout then right which gets to my point like you now at 18 seconds you’re you’re probably you you definitely are past the Run of Play Mayday field goal spot but you can at least then set yourself up for two plays to the end zone not just one yeah it would better what than what they did I that’s what I’m saying like so it just it speaks to the lack of not prepared from the start that and and was wasn’t there a timeout right before that was there a they had get the log because there was there were injuries because to your point K to your point K Sean Hammond put you know who covers the Bears he said we wanted quote unquote we wanted to get a play in bounds and call a timeout Matty rlu said this is every man for themselves right you know I’m I just I mean that quote that direct quote to me if that’s exactly what he said that’s him throwing the quarterback under the bus your franchise quarterback right ran right you you you you have to own it and also to to the okay I messed up at 30 I didn’t call timeout now it’s at 18 we’re completely discombobulated so what are your options right now you have to again thinking in the moment do I want to have two shots at it or do I want to have one Miracle somehow going to pull this off with six seconds to go and somehow this is all going to work out that is a no-brainer right there there you you can’t you have to understand what is happening he can’t he literally just straight freezes he’s freezing at 30 he’s freezing at 20 even at 10 you could almost call timeout if you’re to get your to almost to be able to get two shots at it you could at least throw two hail Mar’s at that point 111 12 I mean you’re you’re pushing it but you could 7 Seconds it takes right yep I mean he’s just Frozen the whole way through that’s a that’s that’s that ain’t great as I like to say nope it isn’t it’s pathetic what do you got here hog that’s amazing that he’s doing that too we this was the plan this is how I was thinking okay well I mean CU you know what the players are coming out publicly at the end of games right and and saying this wasn’t right that wasn’t right at the end so now he’s going all right guess what I’m going to say it too and guess what that’s called a broken locker room right and so you know like even though they haven’t quote unquote quit the last three weeks they’ve actually played inspired football in the second half of games they’re not playing for each other because they’re talking about each other through the media as soon as the game’s over and then throughout the week this just like every other week just like the Green Bay Packers black field goal just like the Washington Mary Washington uh Hail Mary game we’re gonna spend a whole week talking about the last game instead of looking ahead to the next game and that’s not just through the media this is the players putting stuff out there to defend themselves and the coaches you know so it’s just another reason why they got to break this up it right and Ryan’s got a note these guys don’t want to look at him anymore they just don’t it’s over done and done I was just looking to I was trying to rewatch this whole sequence so they had to burn it that other thing is they had to burn burn a Timeout on second and 10 with 43 seconds they burn their second timeout because they couldn’t get the play in they couldn’t get lined up again and and and so you use a timeout there why are they why are these scenarios not all being talked about then like what happens if we take a sack on the next play how are we handling this right because it wouldn’t have been much different I mean that because it right the next play happened at 38 so we’re only talking about 5 Seconds difference so if you want all those specifics about we need the ball snapped at 8 team we only have one time out like was that all communicated right there because you had a time out to talk about well and think about how many mistakes that that drive was insane because starts at the one yard line think about there were so many great plays on that drive I mean that that whole Drive was like a full game it it starts at the one there’s so many great plays on that drive there’s so many mistakes on that drive Keenan Allen whipping the ball at the ref then you have um um you know illegal hands to the face on Kevin Jenkins Cole KT gets caught on a pick play for the second time and anybody that is watching our show that thinks that you know we’re not going to be critical of Cole KT Cole KT is one of the top people on this team to take accountability for the things that he doesn’t do right he’s a real leader on this team and so me calling Cole out for not getting the pick play right two times in a row is factual and he’ll be the first one to come on this show on the 85 with Adam Hogan sit in this chair and own own that we don’t have enough people that own their mistakes I don’t mind when someone makes a mistake or a coach makes a mistake what I don’t like is then defending that mistake instead of owning it and and we’ve seen too much of that throughout this season right before we hear mie those one tweet from Mark Ro both DJ Moore and Keenan Allen said they were surprised by head coach Matt Eber flu did that he did not call a timeout after the late sack on Caleb Williams that’s two guys saying it oh of course I mean I have to ask you a question if the whole world is saying the same thing why should we be surprised that the players are I’m not surprised but that’s how dumb it was put MIMA in for the final two minutes MIM MIM Mima DJ and Ked are all saying it Mima from Omaha all right um wait okay we’re gonna hear flu because he’s about to say in this in this thing that we’re gonna hear at some point he’s going to say I think let’s why don’t we just let him why don’t hear it because I I want him spread when he says when he says I we handled it the right way please hit the like button thank you okay uh so just got out of locker room with the guys obviously very disappointing um but uh also uh I thought the guys battled really hard uh 16 to zero you know we didn’t uh come out the way we wanted to in the first half on offense on defense um you know and uh but I thought our guys battled you know we you know holding those guys to field goals um really helped us to stay in the game and um we did a good job of of uh resetting ourselves at halftime offense did a heck of a job in the second half um you know in terms of uh efficiency and and scoring points and getting us in position uh defense did what it had to do to put us in position to win the game as well you and then it came down to that last drive you know the last drive right there um you know we were there at the end they had penalty we had penalty they you know we had a bunch of penalties there hands to the face we had a you know they called a pick route on us um but we also had the DPI that put us in position um and it’s knocking us out of field goal range those penalties you know and then we’re there at second and 20 you know take the sack right there and um you know so we’re at 36 seconds right there and Our Hope was because it was third going into fourth that we would rack rack that play um at 18 seconds throw it in bounce get it into the field goal range and then call the timeout and that’s where it was and that was our decision making process on that again we’re outside the field goal range you know so we needed to get um a few more yards in there as close as we can get and then we’re going to call timeout and that’s why we held that last time out um at the end of the game so um like I said disappointing disappoint disappointment for the players uh they put a lot of work in in a short week and uh put themselves in position to win that game so with that I’ll take questions the end when you saw the clock TI down under 10 why didn’t you call time out yeah so right there uh we like the play um that we had and we were hoping that he was going to call it uh or you get the ball snapped and then we would have called timeout right there but uh once it’s under seven there you know then you’re you’re you call time out there then you’re basically throwing the ball to the end zone because once it’s under 12 you can’t throw it inside with no timeout and it was third going into fourth you know so that’s that’s the big deal so it was third going into fourth that’s why we wanted to preserve the timeout so how can R how should you have handled the final sequence yeah I I like what we did uh there um again once it’s under 7 you know you’re going to you’re going to call uh you know time out there actually under 12 um and then really you don’t have an option um you know because it’s third to Fourth you got to throw it into the end zone then so to me it’s uh uh I think we handled it the right way um I do believe that uh you know you just rck the play get it in bounce and call time out and that’s why we held it and um didn’t work out the way we wanted it to there were 32 seconds left when Caleb got sacked how do you come away with only one desperation shot the end didn’t really yeah just like I explained you know we wanted to rack that um like I said get a play in bounce and then call timeout and uh that’s where it was it was third and the fourth uh going there so was the play because it ends up being a deep shot the that lands yeah I mean I’m not going to talk about specific plays but it was a play that was going inside and then because we had the timeout and we would have been in field go range then it would have been all set what went wrong on on the set where Larry kind of got caught out there R yeah I have to look at the exact play um I got to look at the play right there um again I got to get to the bottom but I don’t I I didn’t see it I me I saw the guy come free um and I know what the play was but uh yeah I got to look at it why why wasn’t the ball snap seconds just we just got to get it we just got to do a better job together just got to do a better job together to to rack that play get it off and then uh call timeout um once it’s in bounce there so once it’s at 18 is there like a time is a ticking that you could theoretically yeah yeah yeah you could take it down to you’re you know you’re taking it down there right so uh 18 and then down there right there and then once it gets under 12 then you’re you know you want you got you got to hold on to it then so so is this on the players for not getting it sna no it’s no it’s it’s it’s a situation where you got to get you know get the play in right you snap the ball um you know and get it off and then we’ll call timeout that was the whole operation we were all on the same page there we just got to do it a little bit better why did you guys have to blow a time out uh prior to that 43 seconds left second and 10 it was not stop the clock yeah yeah so that one there I was on the uh you know on the offensive line um in terms of the headset and uh that one there I was like you know do you guys need it because I’ll ask him that because there’s a lot of times because there’s an emotion going there and we know it’s going to be a delay we did not want to take a delay that would kick us out of the kick line there or move it back any further um so I took it there why is it getting to that point though where a time out is necessary to avoid the delay in a critical moment like that why are organized and moving yeah I mean it was the play got in you know there was em motion to it um you know obviously the crowd noise all those things and uh when it gets to five there then I just I ask him hey if you need it let me know you know cuz there was motion there and so we did need it and I called it mat how much of the blame do you take for this loss well I’m I’m the head football coach you know so I’m taking I’m taking the blame of course um you know that’s what you do um so we didn’t get it done it starts at the top and it starts right here so accountability is right here with me and uh again we just got to do it better and I got to do it better and uh I was proud of the guys the way they fought and uh they did a good job putting themselves in position do you think the end was more a case of you got kept preparing your players for this critical moment or was it the way you just handled the moment as a yeah I I just think that we can we know we’re there in the moment we just got to handle it better we got to handle it better um and we’re right there um again there were some penalties there at the end you know we were in position to score um we had a hands to the face I think that was a pretty costly one um you know then we just got to do a better job not taking negative plays but it’s got to be um I think it starts right here starts with me down 160 you get the touchdown what was the thought process and kicking ex your point instead of going for two yeah just to make it one score right we didn’t get that done but then it was still 10 I believe is that right you know so um at that point um but uh it was in the fourth quarter so it was for our chart that was go for two throughout the losing Street you’ve been saying I need to do a better job I need to do a better job are you concerned about your job security at this point yeah you know this is the this is the NFL you know I know where it is and uh I’m just going to put my best foot forward and uh you know I’m going to get to work and keep grinding so that’s what we do do you expect that you will stay on as coach this coming week like like I said I’m just going to keep grinding and uh working and uh that’s what I do a couple players Matt a couple players said that you didn’t have a you didn’t have have like the normal post game meeting in the locker room where you address the team is that true and what would have been motiv no we we typically bring it up for prayer right we brought brought it up for prayer and uh that’s what we did and uh we uh broke it down like we normally do so it was same operation was there a message that you delivered to them post game yeah I said I know it’s hard I know it’s difficult um you know um we still have a lot to be thankful for and that was it then we just broke it down there a couple waers in there who are shaken in their confidence in you how do you address them yeah I would just say that you know we got to pull together we just got to keep pulling together um keep believing in each other um you know I know these games are tight um you know you know losing by one losing by three a couple times you know losing by five losing by I get that right but we’re right there we’re right there and we just got to keep plugging along and uh it’s going to crack you know it’s one more crack of the hammer and and it’s going to crack and uh the guys keep believing keep fighting and we’re right there thanks guys wof that was worse than I thought it was going to be and it was it was and it was I thought it was going to be terrible okay um he didn’t get to his own accountability until the entire media just banged him on it hey is no literally it took it yeah it it took like the are you sure this is in your fault do you have any accountability this whatsoever it went exactly how you wanted it to go what the hell are you talking about dude what that was one step short from like Jason leer literally walking up to the podium with a t and being like hit this ball here here’s say sorry I mean seriously what are you doing do are you sure it’s your fault Matt because guess what Keenan Allen in the locker room um is putting things out there he says I Fe quote unquote from Chris Emma in the locker room Keenan Allen saying I feel like we did enough as players to win the game well and so I mean you have your head coach directly saying my quarterback didn’t get it right at the end of the game and then you’ve got players in the locker room and we’ll get to some of the other quotes uh from Adam Johns and and Chris Emma and Nick Moran they’re all in there you know doing doing their thing and now the players are shooting back at the coaches i i i i it’s I’m a broken record I’m sorry guys but guess what they have to fire Matt eflu tomorrow this is this is another level of shots fired immediately after a game show show show the Adam John’s tweet please Stephen um if we haven’t showed it already no we haven’t showed it yet but we can I mean this is this is uh so Adam JNS who I believe Adam hog does a podest it’s called Hogan Johns um that’s correct that’s um yes Adam’s M the shorter one several Bears players in the locker room expressed how shocked they were that a timeout wasn’t called as the final seconds played out in Detroit some players declined to say what Maddie rlu said after the loss so that was amazing and then Cy Cordy Cronin pushes him on hey we heard that the locker room sucked no no no it was great we brought them all in we had our prayer and and and we said there’s a lot to be thankful for we broke it down dude come on man is there to be thankful there’s a lot to be think dude dude yes Matt Matt this is what you say yes my players were extremely upset after the loss they put their they put it all on the line and we’ve lost five six games in a row and this was to a team that we absolutely this is a game that we absolutely should have won could have won I didn’t help us at the end they’re devastated I’m devastated have a nice day see you later I got to go home and pack myself because I’m going to go stay in I’m going to Alaska for the next six months how many nicknames does Matt eus have for all these players guess what Matt your nickname is should have would have could have we had our prayer we did what we normally do dude you didn’t do what you normally did this was this was this is career games decided by seven points or fewer Matt eberl’s 227 win percentage in those games five five and 17 ranks 221st out of those 22 17 anymore that was a couple weeks ago what’s the date on that that around you’re looking at a play Team two and six is better than five that’s what Cole said on the 85 um just the other night you know they feel like they should be a seven and four team one way or the other and it’s it is well let me ask you this if if Jim Harbaugh is coaching this team do you think they’re going to the playoffs exactly I mean because I do and even in this division even in this division because I I you can’t just say all of them would have been wins but you could say that they realistically could have been two and one in these three games against the NFC North you’re not going to win them all no matter who your head coaches ones score games are going to go way or the other but like this is this is ridiculous Sean hen’s tweeting that Caleb Williams we’ll hear from Caleb coming up here but apparently that’s going to be super interesting he might I think he Chang he’s saying that he changed the play because you had to at that point because now we’re down to one play so now you’re asking your rookie quarterback oh okay we weren’t set so hey by the way Caleb now switch it to something that’s uh ha Hail Mary variety right right so he that that’s okay and and I actually apologize for this that it took uh we’re an hour into the show for us to get to this but this actually might be the most aggreg just part of him not calling a timeout in any part of that sequence because so he’s saying he wanted that they wanted him to rck the play and then snap it at 18 and as I already brought up earlier they were not even close to being set at 18 then they get set right around 154 and you got two guys on the left Cole KT DJ Moore not lined up properly they can’t decide who’s on who’s on sidel so as flu said in his own press conference there once you get to Seven you just you’re you’re basically throwing a hell Mary there okay um so I want you to think about what I just said and did that just become the second time this season he didn’t call timeout before Hail Mary uh yeah that’s correct because what was thrown was not actually a Hail Mary it was short of The End Zone in a situation where you were plenty close to get it there they ran one route that way they didn’t really run at Hail Mary Caleb had to check the play because they had a play to try to set up a field goal which they could no longer do in that situation yep he had to check the play so why wasn’t a timeout called to set up an actual Hail Mary because he froze at 30 at 25 at 20 at 15 at 10 at 9 at eight at seven at six and whenever it was snapped there were three three spots in there you could have called timeout at the start in the middle and at the end and instead they’re taking the timeout to Thanksgiving dinner it’s gonna the timeout will be featured prominently next to the turkey at the ebra flu family dinner laner it’s it’s unbelievable they broke it down and had the same exact thing that they always do after every game and we have a lot to be thankful for which they do but that’s not what that’s not going to cut the mustard on this one Matthew we have Kyler is that true I think we have Kyler Gordon from the locker room we’ll share that with you this here unbelievable bear season oh my god really is it’s true unbelievable like three and 14 was horrible but it but it was like this was like wow this is really this is given 2014 a run for it yeah and seven to 10 last year I was entertained this I mean it’s I’d rather they be but they are wildly entertaining in D moment Kyler Gordon after the game here he [Music] is um my advantage point is the same advantage point as y so I think yall saying the same thing you st the ability to get um yeah I’m not going to lie you I mean at least we it is Happ you need to hear from um I think we’ll hear eventually but not as disappoint me how do you how do you manage your emotions seems like every game right now it’s come down to something crazy like this at the end um honestly for me in my head like unless I talk so the guys like just about our response um honestly it’s s frustrating it’s repetitive so I understand like you know being down about it but like being down really do nothing for us like in my head I’m trying to play the best game every game so being D not going to make you play better like me personally and what I talk to my teammates and everybody around me keep a head up like play play for each other play for your brother play for your name that’s it you think there’s one underlying reason why you the game no compl can you take anything from the way team the second half of this not exactly sure what that question was where he said no comment there at the end but um anyway kylo Gordon after the game um yeah to your point you miss being in the all the all the F this is what’s crazy about all these games I mean you have you know the hail Mar you have the black field goal you have this blunder at the end and so it just takes the F like your head’s spinning at the end of the game and then we spent a two-hour postgame show literally talking about one moment instead of four quarters of football and so when you see you you’re seeing Kyler Gordon you’re think oh yeah the defense like they they held on for dear life against a good football team Ben but don’t break came back today they didn’t give up the the 450 yards against the Vikings I’m not saying that by Stevenson was huge that game’s over Gibbs I agree but the thing I will say is the tackling has been very bad they’re not wrapping up that that’s the one thing that I’ve been noticing here the last principl out the door I S I said that during the week they’re not playing at the same intensity as they were before this season there was one play who was it who just slowed up it was Tyreek Stevenson on the catch he got burned and then you know as the cat he he just like stopped he like froze for a second you know I look um if if you want hilarious moment though flu um when he correctly challenged a play today and then they were like no no no we got we’re going to correct that for you that was great replay assist has it so you don’t get credit for that good challenge you know he was probably like no please let’s let’s run this I haven’t won one of these in a year I have a losing streak this is my chance give it to me well all right look when I’m look just as far as like the whole game that you’re talking about brags is talking which maybe one of these days we’ll have one of those postgame shows but uh to sum it up though Detroit should have killed the Bears today I mean we really weren’t as close as it was 35 nothing in half time right right so I mean arguably their worst game of the year to let the Bears back in that game I mean it’s impressive that they got there but if we’re trying to measure like are the Bears close to the Lions I don’t know if we want to go too far on that we we’ll see him again in three weeks but the the the Bears have played Detroit incredible well but this game should have gotten out of hand it didn’t tyre’s play was a huge one that kept him going but you can’t rely on stuff like that jir Gibbs was flying to the end zone all right just to rerack which is the word of the day because that’s what Flo wanted them to do on that last play rerack the play um which I believe it just means call the same play again that they just got sacked on just just run it back got to run something R something rack it um uh we got to get to K’s notes still yeah and those are on the computer today and um we also we will not hear from Nick because he had to go run and catch his flight um Nick has a family that loves them and um we’re gonna hear Caleb so yeah we’re gonna hear Caleb that’s what it is so we got all three of those coming up before that though I just want to ask you guys so I mean I I started covering this team in 2011 I have I’ve said this before I have covered many um Sunday nights into Mondays in this case it’s a Thursday night into Friday morning where I’ve wherever I’ve worked uh you know we’ve been sort of on quote unquote on call for hey will they actually do it this time they actually you know because this is part of covering this team you every two to three years you block out the month of January you just do it in advance you’re like can’t take a vacation this January because there’s going to be a coaching search so um you know this just takes good planning but um it’s never happened like it’s they they always wait till the end of the season yep they don’t they don’t you know you’re on call just in case but in the back of your head you’re going you’re pretty pretty safe here um and I gotta say look there probably the the closest there there were two times I felt where probably should slash Could Happen um one was when the tresman stuff was going way off the rails when you had Aaron chromer you know throwing Cutler under the bus um back toback 50 point l to the p and Patriots and then getting yeah but this is later I I mean that was bad but this was later in the season when things really started to go off the rails when you had all that drama that crazy stuff um and then he decides to bench Cutler and put Jimmy Clawson in y that felt like a moment where somebody up top would be like whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa what are what exactly are we doing here and and you thought a firing could happen in that situation though I didn’t really feel like anybody was capable of taking over uh that had gone so off the rails uh not that that’s an excuse the other one was ironically Thanksgiving 2021 when the it actually got leaked from patch.com of all places I learned what patch.com was that week who was that reporter I don’t remember to be honest at this point um guy was amazing but that that naggie was actually getting fired after the game that week um and obviously that didn’t happen this feel this feels like the most obvious even more so than those situations be and and what’s different here to me is you’ve had a team regardless of the situation of was on the other side of the ball you just this NFC North is loaded this year and you just played all three of those teams and had a chance to win all three of those games it came down in the last play on all three of those games and you found new crazy ways to lose it and my point is this team seems talented enough that you could still squeeze something out of here you could still Salvage what’s left of Caleb’s rookie season I’m not talking playoffs or anything obviously that’s off completely off the table I’m just talking about setting yourself up for Success next year because this is not a situation where with naggie in 2021 it was like all right whoever’s Tak the GM’s getting fired too and whoever’s taking over this job has to completely gut the roster this is not that situation this team could be good next year there’s Talent here now they got they’re they’re probably not as close as we thought we’ve learned that some certain holes especially in the trenches but they’re close enough here that it feels like a coaching change with five games to go and a mini buy here on top of the egregious ways in which they’ve lost this if feels like if it was if it’s not gonna happen now it’s just never gonna happen under the masky’s watch so that was a long way me Teen up this question to you guys even if you want to put like a percentage chance on it and I know you’re just guessing what percentage chance do you think that a move would actually be made tomorrow morning I like the idea of saying what time do we think matl will be fired because it technically you can pick a time and it doesn’t have to be tomorrow but I am saying 801 on January 6th right uh I am saying Matt eberflus gets fired at 9:00 am tomorrow morning that is that is my belief why because it’s the most logical thing this organization should do and you know if you guys are really trying to change the culture over there at how Hall and you bring in Kevin Warren and you’re trying to make you know adult decisions and and change the way of failures have passed with this Chicago Bears organization it has smacked you in the face six games in a row this team was 4-2 and they were you know building some momentum and now they’re 4- eight and they’ve lost four games on the final play of the game and all four of them you’re head head coach has fingerprints all over those losses and your team and your players are calling out the coaches consistently week after week in the press conferences immediately after the game and then throughout the week through different interviews and podcasts that every all these players are doing across the board so the writing’s been on the wall since the Patriots game at the very least but really the writing’s been on the wall even since they lost to Washington this team you know I think wanted to give mat E bro a chance last year uh you know after last year and some blunders uh but then I think everybody saw who this coach was uh when they failed in the Hail Mary game and then your head coach says those 13 yards didn’t matter and that forever will cement mat efl’s Legacy here in Chicago just as it did for Matt naggie when he once famously said I didn’t come here to run the ey formation it’s called ignorance it’s one thing to make a mistake it’s even worse to double down on ignorance H do you have the uh schedule for oh it’s supposed to be supposed to talk at Friday 9:00 a.m. yeah there’s a conference call tomorrow it’s a zoom call so so it’s a zoom call tomorrow at 9:00 am so is he on that call at 9:00 am that’s the question for me which would speak to your 9:00 am thing I’m gonna say yes you think he’s on the call at 9 just it’s and I think it’s it’s a defendable yes not in the decision but in me saying yes because I just it I need to see it to believe it I need to now the the one wild card in all this is Kevin waren and and well he was in Detroit today and we did a whole show earli this week with that headline when is Kevin Warren gonna put his stamp on this organization and and I’m sorry I if if they keep status quo here and they stick to the masy way of not firing a coach until the season’s over and it’s just more wasted time that gives the public that gives your fan base no confidence that anything is different under a new team president because I hate to say I like I’m just being honest I I still believe that there will be a Kevin Warren stamp that comes eventually I do believe there eventually will be a new stadium but we’re all just sitting here waiting and meanwhile the team continues to lose in Bears ways they continue to Bears it up and so it just it just feels like more of the same and I I’m just waiting for that moment and and honestly even if it’s you know considered somewhat silly the Optics of Kevin Warren coming down and being like okay enough’s enough Thomas Brown you are the interim coach there’s five games left there’s a mini bu here let’s get to work when everybody comes back in the building Monday it that would that would I think give everybody more confidence in the future because otherwise we’re just looking at another coaching search that gets you know somehow screwed up like they you know no one would have confidence that they’re actually going to make the right hire this time am I wrong you’re not and I also think if look if you’re Ryan PS if you’re Kevin Warren you you you got to know that I mean you don’t want the inmates running the Asylum I guess you say but like it’s look these guys they they don’t want to play for them anymore man they this is beyond obvious he the team the team is sprinting away from mat Eber flu at this point so it you you got to do right by your players forget the fan base forget obviously forget the media or whatever like and do right by your organization right um so what’s your prediction did you have an official I mean I I I I think it’s coming I do and I’m just debating is it going to be Saturday like like I feel like maybe no if you’re going to do it you can’t have him go up to the podium tomorrow no you can’t it’s it’s literally going to be uh Ian Rapaport saying sources matd reflu will be fired and he’ll tweet that out at 6:00 AM tomorrow and then the official announcement will be at 9:00 am like that’s how this is going to go if it’s gonna happen and then you have to have your GM talk tomorrow I mean I just saw in the chat Sears Tower is now saying that it might happen yes the SE the Sears Tower have a tower tweet Sears Tower for blindly so I will give you the Sears Towers update he says still Gathering more information but I have been told that all options are officially on the table now dramatic change in thinking is currently going on in halis Hall from the Sears Tower wait wait wait wait wouldn’t that mean that his reporting earlier in the week is wrong and he said during the game so are we still considering this se’s Tower a credible Source he said earlier in the game that he said he hopes for Bears fan sake that his earli report was wrong the old couch the old yeah he’s hedging the Sears Tower the Sears Tower is no longer on a foundation of concrete it’s sitting on a fence listen Kevin Kevin we the one you can see it out this window behind us the the real Sears Tower is Rock Solid but the the Sears Tower on Twitter is is w I hope there’s some random guy tweeting on the top floor of the Sears Tower that’s where he is you’re right that has convinced you that he’s got real information he’s up there look we all know if you pay attention to this franchise that Kevin Warren likes to get credit for things there’s been however many articles published about him so uh look this would be something different and Kevin would be able to not that it would be you know P I’m the guy who did it but he’d have some of that so uh I think it’s I if I had if I had a guess I think it’s happening see really yeah I do the ti Breer vote he’s he’s cross the picket line I just don’t see how you can go forward at this point protesting here can’t um you just can’t go on and it also as we all saw this coming it it sets up on a silver platter for you as an organization you’re not on a short week here like this last week couldn’t do it after the Vikings game you only got four days to the Lions game you have now 10 days to prepare for the San Francisco 49ers and that game is at home correct or is it on the road it’s on the road 49ers on the road I’m sorry it’s on the road but regardless my point is you have 10 days to prepare for that team and right now they’re quarterbacks out the team’s not very good so you’re not going in you’re you’re you’re not playing the the Chiefs in 10 days so I you have an opportunity and you have coaching infrastructure that’s built in right here where you can start moving guys around you still have Eric Washington as your defensive coordinator if you want to leave Thomas Brown at OC you can promote Richard Hightower to head coach if you don’t want to move Richard hi Tower and move you know Thomas Brown to head coach to give him a five-game audition which we’ve advocated for I think there’s a lot of sense in that even if you know you’re taking away a little bit of the you know um the momentum that Thomas Brown and kayb Williams have started to get with him up in the booth but you have options here and and and not only you know do you have to consider you know obviously what’s best for the locker room and the culture but I think logistically you have the coaching staff to be to make this move should we hear from Caleb are we ready yeah we should however real quick before that I wanted to um say thank you to the almost 5,500 people that are watching us um I got a call and uh um I know I took a timeout earlier in that in that was it same Drive uh yeah same drive I knew I took a time out earlier um and uh and so you know um I can take timeouts but um in that situation we had a call um I got the call in um and you know trying to get the guys back um so focused on make sure everybody gets back gets lined up I know we don’t have much time left and so um trying to get everybody back um you know we don’t really have I don’t have a microphone to speak to to coach or anything like that so um there was there wasn’t like any huge communication um in that situation you get a call with that time you got to you know you got to try and get the guys back uh get everybody lined up so you go run a play and excuse me um and uh you know we got lined up got the play um and then you know I made an adjustment uh because I saw the clock run it down knowing that um if we complete a ball in you know in bounds or anything like that uh we won’t have time to kick a field goal or anything like that so um you know I made an adjustment um and uh New Rome was um either going to be 101 or he was going to um you know beat the safety and be oneon-one there and um you know tried to give him a shot um and we got the shot and miss you guys got to the line with 13 seconds the snap came at six was the seven seconds there was that the you changing the play yeah I end up changing the play because you know with the play we had um 13 seconds any play you have with 13 seconds with no time or with well you had a timeout but uh with you know that situation um 13 seconds make a call um and and and and try and get it snapped and uh take the shot what should have happened at the end of what would have ideal ideally the correct decisions in that final talk man um I mean we can take a time out you know we got the guys on the field um you know they’re a big man team um and uh you know we took a shot um and and and with that you you live with it um the right decision um everybody can um as we always say and y’all um don’t know but um as we always say uh you can always uh hold that clicker and and press pause or uh slowmo but um you know um the right decision is you know if we if we hit that play if I hit that play to Rome you know it’ll be a different conversation to here so um the right play isn’t you know always um you can’t always make the right play um you got to you got to make a decision and go with it you surprised there wasn’t a timeout call though were you surprised um surprised um we can we can call a timeout um we cannot um surpris I’m not going to say surprise or or not um just my job is to go out there and make plays my job is to get everybody lined up um and uh that’s it win games so um didn’t do that today um you know I could have gave Rome a you know maybe a little bit more of a jump ball in that situation um um instead of maybe trying to throw it over her shoulder or anything like that but um you know with that situation um that’s not what happened Caleb when you get the after you you got sacked and you get the call probably around 30 seconds left at what point did you realize that we’re only going to have one shot do those like yeah when everybody got lined up um when everybody got lined up and then um whenever I made my adjustment at whatever um time the you know the at whatever point the clock was at um is when I is when I uh realized that we were only excuse me only going to have one play and so like I said made the adjustment and um let my my guy uh Rome be one-on-one and try to give my shot opportunity ball timeout decision is above your pay grade at that point but that’s got to be my pay your in that situation um you know I’m I’m living with the call um you know and I I’ll let you know the coaches and everybody you know make that decision um you know depending on whether it’s time depending on whether it’s um you know the guys running back and you know they’re they’re far down the field whatever um that situation is that’s uh that’s going to be coach’s call um maybe in the later years of my career but right now um you know I get the call um I’m I’m I’m trying to lead the guys to win and I’m trying to get everybody lined up and uh you know from there I’m I’m I’m trying to make a play for you know for the Chicago Bears Through Your Eyes what happened with protection on the sa uh I don’t it wasn’t necessarily uh I think uh it got loud at that point and and uh I believe Larry was over there and I think he just you know I think he just missed the uh he was laid off the snap I think he just missed the or misheard the uh the go call um and then that’s what happened um you know once I once I uh quickly realized that um zarius I believe it was the Darius was uh coming free I didn’t want to risk cuz I knew we you know I knew we still had one play I didn’t want to risk uh you know jumping up or trying to throw the ball out of bounds and he knocks it down or a fumble or something so um you know took the sack and tried to get everybody um tried to get everybody back um like i’ like I’ve been saying and um get the last play off and um get rolling he like to play who said he like to play call wanted to rect it for the last play what is the play that you’re aiming for there and what did you see that made you change the call on the last last play yeah supposed to be the same one as the previous play correct no they were two different plays the LA the last plays were two different plays and um you know we were we were um we had to play call and uh got sacked um the play call I don’t know if I I don’t know if I’m was it a draw telling you the telling you the play but yeah I was gonna I was gonna run um um right off the hip nice Caleb um I was going to run right off the hip of Larry um or or or the guard and uh you know take it for however long um that I could run and get down um and then and then from there either clock it with the first down or whatever you know whatever that situation would have been um and then maybe score a touchdown the next one but if not kick the field goal but the sack pushed us out um out of field goal range and then uh you know tried to make it play with that that last play in the chaos of how things finished is the fact that you guys had a chance at the end the off team like in the second half what was different for you second half just offensively what was different in second yeah I think I think uh I think the first half uh we didn’t have many possessions nor plays um and so we had to get positive drives going um get the drivve started and get those going um so that was a that was a big point for us you know at halftime and then uh been able to um you know just get into Rhythm uh stay stay encouraged um stay believing I know we were down we down 16 at that point um um and so that’s just two scores um and so uh you know you we we knew we were getting the ball back um you go out there you score and now it’s you know now you’re right there in the fight again and so uh we we knew we were in the fight uh we’ve been in many of these games where we were down and you know came back from 16 10 um you know all these different scores and so uh you know we have belief in ourselves um and and to be able to go out there and do that and like you said it’s it’s it’s tough um doing all of that and then um not been able to come out with the win um but uh it’s definitely encouraging uh because the fight um that these guys have overall defense special teams um these offensive players um you know they it’s uh it’s I go around and tell the guys you know after this game and in in these past couple games that I love them appreciate them and you know let’s keep going um because um you know that that um especially um we spoke about it the other day with the record that we have you know there’s not many times where teams are still fighting how we fight and so um you know much love and appreciation to them um and uh can’t wait to keep going on the scramble when you got hit was it your left knee yeah left first of KNE second of all did you think was that a clean play um knee’s fine um yeah I I uh that play was uh funky um just put it that way um I don’t really you know um I didn’t really appreciate the play uh he just kind of Dove straight at my knee um so I didn’t you know I didn’t really get that um definitely uh definitely uh kind of frustrated about that one um just cuz you know whatever but uh yeah knee’s good uh nothing nothing wrong with it um I think I just got a bruise but uh you know uh the play was play was funky but yeah thank you the Bears so that last thing he’s talking about there was the weird play where he kind of stopped and then hey he’s got to get out of bounds yeah I hear you Kayla but that you the Lions they’re not your friend man they’re not looking out for your best interest so you can’t put that in the hands of them you got to get out of bounds and protect yourself there yeah I understand that like it it doesn’t look good that he Dove like kind of right at his knees but if he had done with would prefer him to do he was trying to do the momes Stop and Go yep thing is what he was trying to do and the way to combat that is to do what Campbell did there and and I’m not condoning you know diving at quarterback knees but the safer thing to do is just go out of bounds there um is now interesting couple uh one I thought the most interesting thing in there um was him trying to explain what was happening on second and 20 there where he said he was going to just try to run with it theedge to the right and get down get what he could and Larry boram I just watched the play again clearly just did not he said he missed the call or whatever it sounded like Caleb said or you know because there’s a guy who’s kind of in a wide nine technique to the outside he just he doesn’t block him he goes to block the inside guy who is clearly Matt prior’s responsibility because prior goes to block that guy right away so boram just blocks nobody and and Caleb Gets sacked so that’s unfortunate but you know darn alri went out with a knee and injury in this game which we haven’t talked about yet and that’s not good uh he was doubtful to return uh that didn’t seem good at all um and so you didn’t have your right tackle in the game at the end and and Larry boram clearly there was some confusion there confusion communication Caleb was talking about the communication he’s got no way to communicate with the coach there at the end I actually would like to give him credit not you know again this kind of goes back to the congrats on doing your job thing but um you know he did make the correct decision to check to the next play to at least take a shot down field because if they had just run what they were trying to run there the game would have been over um so he did have the wherewithal and that to to be like all right well I got to take a shot at the end zone again though I don’t understand why they don’t call timeout to set up a real Hail Mary there makes no sense yeah and and look Caleb could do things better Caleb could not take a sack Caleb could uh that sack does not sound like it was on him at all though well fair enough if you want to completely absolve him that that’s fine but he’s he’s taken too many sacks this year and
