we’ve got an NFC North battle between the Bears and the Lions this Thanksgiving this game will air on CBS kicking off at 12:30 Eastern and streaming on Paramount plus Jim Nance Tony Romo and Tracy Wilson will be on the call we are in for a good one it is the 189th alltime meeting between the Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions Lions have their best record entering Thanksgiving since 1934 when they actually lost 19 to6 to the Bears look at that turkey that thing looks absolutely cooked get H Detroit beat Chicago this time it would be their first win on Turkey Day in 8 years they have lost seven consecutive Thanksgiving games including last year where they failed four different Force down tries in an attempted comeback they also had three fumbles in that game not pretty at all you can take a look at their longest streaks there so we welcome back in our guys Pete prisco Le doible and of course my girl jacine deagostino I don’t know why I can’t say your name here’s the thing guys it’s a long one it you know but it’s a great last name um all right so lions are laying 10 and a half this total 48 and a half but this is a Thanksgiving game so we we’ll get into the nitty-gritty of it but like what’s your favorite thing about Thanksgiving games I’ve been to Detroit many times for thanksgiv and Dallas actually they’re fun the people the the feeling walking into the stadium is incredible you know in in Detroit it’s in the morning so people are you know getting about and having breakfast and then getting there and tailgating and it’s it’s just you walk through downtown it’s an awesome feeling I I love thank go I love having been at those places for Thanksgiving games particularly since I spent my days early days watching them all the time when I was a kid growing up so yeah I love it yeah like I can vividly remember being younger right and my mom and my aunts all them preparing food all day long we know we had three games that day just being able to go outside with my cousins and play football but then come in and watch the football game and then half time we go back outside and play football come in have another two or three plates and then watch football I mean Thanksgiving Day football is amazing right because again you get this Thursday night not Thursday night but Thursday full of football that you really get to enjoy with your family and really uh remember what you’re thankful for three when I was we had two two and 4 they started at 12:30 and 4 so my mom would be in the kitchen working her butt off getting everything ready we’d say can you time it up between the end of the game and the kickoff so we can eat and she’d come walking ready to give us the back of the hand you get get in the kitchen help no we were watching the games she understood there was one year that the 49ers played the Seahawks on Thanksgiving and it was an afternoon game and my mom was like no we’re not going to the game we’re like please please please so we had an actual traditional Thanksgiving dinner at the tail game floral arrangements that look like little footballs that was of course for Richard shman took the bite at the end so it didn’t end well um let’s get into the X’s and O’s here and these are are two teams going into two very different directions because it’s a Lions team 10 in one they’re tied for the best record in the league and be team that a lot of folks had a lot of high expectations for Pete I know you said at the beginning of the Season they’re a season away going to the playoffs but regardless to your guys’s point it’s Thanksgiving things get a little wonky the Lions have this losing streak going on so it feels like anything can happen Le yeah for sure I mean 10 and a half points is a lot of points especially when you laid it out for a SM the the Troy lions for some odd reason struggle on Thanksgiving games seven straight losses and then adversely if you look at the Bears they’ve won the last four Thanksgiving games and they’re two and two against the spread when I look at this game I look at the injuries in the secondary for the Lions though right Carlton Davis we’ll see where this health status is like terion Arnold is already out and it’s R straw is down as well VOR came in the game last week versus the Colts and they picked on him last week Pete we finally see that Caleb Williams is starting to get some confidence with this offense since Thomas Brown has become the offensive coordinator yes pet I know people will get enamored by some of these off platform throws the one that he had where he evaded two Defenders rolled to his right and found DeAndre Swift but I’m love his growth from within the pocket last week that’s what was more important to me him making those big time throws where he’s hitching up into the pocket either finding Kenan Allen and Zone coverage are finding DJ Moore down the field that’s the growth that I want to see from Caleb Williams but he did have that back breaking play in overtime where you just cannot take that sack when you get the ball first in overtime but I think this game could be almost a pick them just because of the injuries in the secondary for the Lions and then the the curse that the Lions have had on Thanksgiving and when I watched Caleb Williams last week I came away from that game they didn’t win the game but he grew up yeah when you bring your team back in the fourth quarter that’s growing up that anything else that happens the rest way that moment for him was so important and I think he’s going to build off of that you know the offensive line was a little bit better last week they haven’t been good all year but they were better he got the ball to Keenan Allen like you mentioned I think that’s growth for them the other side though that team is built around that offensive line everything they do is predicated on those five guys up front and they are nasty brutal bunch and they push people around they run the ball they protect so well how many times during a game do you see jerich go go back and go right left middle check down he they got them a little bit last week now a little bit but most of the time he stood there and had all the time he wanted and the bottom line is that’s the difference between the Lions and most teams in this league they’re offensive line they’re physical and they’re tough but I’m a little worried about that defense too they don’t have great pass rushers we know that they’re banged up in the secondary I think the Bears it close I think they keep it close man I do too I disagree with you guys but I’ll talk about that so if if the lions are going to break their Thanksgiving Day streak obviously Jared gof has to have a very good game he does have a case for MVP right now he is third in the MVP odds according to our friends at FanDuel at 7 to1 he’s the quarterback of arguably the best team in the NFL right now he leads in stats like completion percentage passer rating yards per attempt yet he’s still ranked below Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen what do you think of his MVP campaign I think he’s in it uh look he’s right now he’s not the leader I still think Josh Allen’s the leader right now based on their record and what he’s done but but uh I think jar I think when you look at what gol did at Houston I think people are going to Ping him for that game sure and the reality is in talking to people around that organization he he three of those were on were not on him three of them were on bad routes and one was a a Hail Mary and one was a tip at the line of scrimmage so so three of them were not on him but but he’s had an unreal season and it goes back to when he went there they thought he was a stop Gap they thought oh we’re going to bring jerck off in and he’s going to fill the role until we go find our guy well Ben Johnson in that group they’ve made him into the successful NFL quarterback and it’s a great story he’s a great kid he loves the game he doesn’t get the credit he deserves for being as good as he is but that offense again with the time the running game the ability to turn your head and go from side to side it’s all works because of the offensive line and because of the running game and because of him and I think that’s why he gets ding Pete when you talk about the offensive line that two-headed monster which is is the best in the NFL I mean they got a nickname Sonic and Knuckles that let you know how explosive they are I think that’s why he gets deed honestly I think sequin should be higher than him now they’re tied at three so essentially they’re tied cuz when you talk about value squin and what he’s done for that Eagles team is taking it to the next level but you’re right jarro go doesn’t get the due respect that he justly deserved you talked about it MOX number one incomp completion percentage nobody is more efficient with the football and yes he does have a good offensive line but you still got to complete passes in the NFL and he does that at a high rate I think he will will get ding for the Texans game I think people haven’t given him respect because of the offensive line and also offensive coordinator Ben Johnson which is a travesty I want to go back to the other quarterback Caleb Williams something that you said Pete is that they didn’t win the game last week but you saw him grow up because with Thomas Brown that new OC change there um he’s looked really good what do you have to say to Bears fans as far as looking ahead to next year based off of what you’ve seen from Kaleb Williams in that moment and just that growing up that you talked about be happy you have them the kids has amazing skills he has a skill set that you know few guys have coming into the league and I think there were a lot of things that play Early in the season bad offense it was a bad offense that the design was bad you had the banged up offensive line and you had him getting hit his eye level you know when the guys want to get the young guys old guys stay in there and their eye level comes down young guys they get out after the first any color they get out they see some other teams color they’re out of there so I I think from that standpoint he was more patient last week the offensive line played better and you saw the result he has the tools to be a franchise quarterback remember about 5 weeks ago the bus word came out people were starting to say that insane it’s ridiculous why do we why do we have to sit there and say that right away it was ridiculous then it’s ridiculous now and he’s proven that to be way incorrect yeah Pete me and you both were on the bandwagon saying this team was a year away and it’s just cuz there’s growing pains with a rookie and we saw that from Kaya Williams what I’ve seen the last two weeks is what I’ve been really excited about his progression from within the pocket yes you get an damed with what he does outside the pocket but when a young quarterback can grow and we we liking it to baseball give me the singles and the doubles that’s what wins you games when you can climb up in the pocket and hit those in-breaking routes those layer throws that’s where you see real progression and we’ve seen that in Caleb Williams and when you need him to be Superman he proved last week versus the Minnesota Vikings he can do that so things look good for the future for the Chicago Bears the question becomes what do they do with it he’s going to have to learn a new offense now yeah so that always you know when you’re a young quarterback and you’re learning essentially another offense in the same within what if they don’t fire eflu they have to they’re firing they have to they have to they’re all right we got to get a pick for this game line is 10 and a half total 48 and A2 Pete where you taking us I’m taking the Bears I I think they hang around I’m going to take 10 and a half and let me let me say this when I make that pick my picks have been horrendous I’m going take the Bears yeah I think the Lions then this Thanksgiving curse man I’m taking the Bears 10 a half that’s a lot of points for a Bears team has really played well last couple weeks maybe it’ll be Dave Williams all over again I want you guys to know that Detroit has covered eight of their last 12 games on Thanksgiving including four in one as a favorite okay way back they also lost seven straight back of the day the Bears want beat the Lions on Thanksgiving on a kickoff return in overtime how about that the opening kickoff in overtime all right be’s Lions it is on CBS on Thanksgiving 12:30 eastern time and of course you can stream it on Paramount plus as well for
