the San Francisco Giants have fallen far back from the pack in the National League West it cost Farhan his job Buster po Buster py Buster posy steps in and you knew the San Francisco Giants would have to be aggressive would be aggressive this off season and we have a top free agent off the board headed to the San Francisco Giants in Willie adamus 7 years $182 million the largest deal in franchise history sources tell Jeff passon and ESPN Willie adamus was a plan B for some of these Juan sto teams and now that’s obviously changes things you have to feel too that the Giants are feeling pretty good about swiping a player that again the Dodgers the Yankees the Mets may have all gravitated towards if when they eventually miss out on wotto and to grab him that’s the other interesting element to this we’ll talk about how it impacts the Giants we’ll talk about what could be next for some of the other teams we’ll go through some of your live reactions the and brave Thrills I thought it could be a thing it’s not a thing not not for this contract not for these dollars but for Willie adamus to move before Juan stto Signs is rather interesting right do you feel like if he waited another week that maybe this deal could have grown to 200 million or more if you all of a sudden have a a Red Sox team a Mets team a Yankees team feeling the feeling the pain of a of losing out on Juan stto that they may have gotten aggressive and a bidding war could have erupted for Willie adamus that could have taken it again higher maybe another year another $26 million a higher aav so I’m I I’m I’m fascinated by that element of this deal that he signs before sto now now put your put your big brain hats on here we’re hearing all this stuff about swano dollars from the Mets his son leaking the deal uh we’ve got a 15 what do we have 15 730 is is today’s uh number of the day for Wan stto is the Juan SoDo sweep Stakes like are are we at the end and this is a sign that Willie adamus is moving because 7 for 182 he feels confident in inking that deal because he’s been in contact with some of the other teams that feel like they’re out or or know they’re out on stto and therefore he’s moving he’s like you know what okay I I I can go sign my deal because these other Wan stto suitors that know that they’re out of it now their offers don’t beat the Giants offer I’m going to the Giants there are certainly ties here to what’s going on with with Juan stto and the other teams that were in or are still in on sto this a great deal for the Giants off the top the main talking point is that San Francisco has fallen behind they fell behind on farhan’s watch San Francisco was a team that struggled to bring in free agents now last year it worked out great for them late right the Chapman deal the Snell deal but they have had some challenges bringing in the star power will Adamas will Damas is nice defensively the the left side of that infield now for the San Francisco Giants look Adamas is not the you know top of top of top tier guy but when it comes to his range when it comes to his arm strength at all tracks above League average uh you go look at his baseball Savant his defensive metrics are red we like that you get so so you have a defense now of Adamas and Chapman on the left side that’s fantastic how we work out second base I’m really curious we’ll take a look at the Giants lineup right now how second base plays out I feel like that is anybody’s guest right now Fang gravs has Tyler Fitzgerald in there you’ve also got Casey Schmidt you’ve got Wilmer Flores you’ve got uh does Marco Luciano ever play a game for the San Francisco Giants again is this indic ating that the Marco Luciano uh era or or or or his time in San Francisco may be done because short stop for the next seven years belongs to Willie Adamas all that talk of Willie adamus moving off to another position moving to third moving to second the talk yesterday of uh Matt Chapman changing positions for Hong Kim did did somebody get that wrong was it Hong Kim or hon Kim that was going to maybe move Matt Chapman a short stop I didn’t understand that but there there there was talk about the Giants making a move and this is a move it’s a it’s a big one uh Luciano will be traded this offseason time to trade Luciano some people in the chat are saying Luciano will switch to Outfield um I think that’s one of the issues is from from a shortstop perspective Luciano might not have been your guy so maybe you need to move him to the Outfield or like Richie is saying maybe he is a bust but this certainly that’s Luciano was supposed to be the short stop of the future that’s not the case anymore it’s will Damas but look at the Giants again you putting together a team because you have to go up and you have to not just go head-to-head you have to get back into the conversation with the padr the Diamondbacks and the Dodgers you have fallen out of that last off season again this team a lot of these a lot of it came in late but they were still able to make some splashes in the free age Market grabbing jungho Le who they then lost for the entire season Blake Snell who has now gone to the Dodgers they did bring in Matt Chapman it works so well with Matt Chapman that they get the extension done that was all under farhan’s watch and he’s now gone Buster posy is in and Willie Adamas is the big Marquee the Big Splash that buster posy makes and I I don’t think that we can say that uh this will end up being the Giants you know only Splash this off season I think that this team also needs to go out and get some pitching done you consider the Giants have been linked to other top names in the pitching Market Burns and freed uh if it isn’t if it’s not one of those two there’re still some great names out there to bolster this rotation so you go web Ray you still got Hicks you still have Harrison um it’s really looking for another Ace to pair with Logan web move Robbie Ray to three move Hicks to four Harrison to five because you sign Nathan avaldi or Jack flarity or Max freed or Corbin burns the Giants are set up now for an incredible off season as far as the payroll adding the $26 million as we try to think about how much more money do the San Francisco Giants have to play with it does appear that fangraphs has added those dollars in and are we really looking no we are not we so we have 147 million and then with arbitration doll maybe we’re like 175 there’s room there is room for the Giants I didn’t see Adam signing before Soto I thought it might have been a backup plan for the Yankees if I didn’t get Soto Michael I’m with you on that it is kind of surprising and it also makes you wonder what’s happening behind the scenes what is happening behind the curve when it comes to woto we know he was at a restaurant earlier today huddled around his crew his Camp talking about what they want to do I don’t know if you noticed but it was at the flight deck Lounge at Roger Center I’m just saying I’m kidding it was Photoshopped it was funny I know that but when you think about the Giants and the money and yes Michael I’m with you 100% it’s crazy when you think about the Giants and the money they have in the piggy bank room to make another Splash they could go out and and and with that Splash again I’m looking at the fan graphs payroll right now no I’m sorry we’re at 207 207 we’re at 15 I don’t know what I was looking at 2026 sorry 2025 we’re at 27 million including the arbitration projections and the payroll so we are at 207 the luxury tax threshold is $241 so they could still make another Splash they could go out and spend $30 million on somebody and still be below that first luxury tax and remember there’s a $20 million gap between luxury tax one uh level one and and level two so there would be an opportunity for them to continue spend $30 million on on a Blake Snell or Corbin Burns and then have some money to play with uh beyond that last year’s team went to 252 which was the first level of the payroll threshold so we would be looking at a repeater test does San Francisco care about that I would I based on the the situation in the year before that the Giants were not in the luxury tax so they went into luxury tax level one last year right now they are on the outside looking in with about 37 or 38 million to go they’re not one they’re not one more player and done that’s the thing more more needs to be brought in but if you are comfortable going over and and repeating then you can certainly do that you are eventually going to get to a point where you probably want to get back under and you may be sort of counting on that opportunity to get back under uh you got at the end of 2025 you’ve got 12 million and Taylor Rogers coming off the books you’re going to have the 9.2 and Mike Esty coming off the book so you could drop $20 million just by letting those two go and not replacing them uh after 2025 so they may they probably have a plan in place where they are going to go over that first luxury tax threshold for 2025 try to remain under the second level and if they’re going to do that again when we think about how much money they have to spend then again they’re at 207 right now 241 is the first threshold so that’s 234 or I’m sorry 34 to play with and if we’re trying to stay under the second threshold that’s 54 to play with that’s enough if they want to go out there and make a splash with a top pitcher and then add some Bullpen pieces they have the money to do that they most definitely have the money to do that because when you think about the lineup you’re done done done done there’s nothing more that needs to happen here this is over right Lee is your center fielder yy’s in right left field you have the opportunity to play with some things Bailey is one of the best catchers in all of baseball behind the dish you’ve got Chapman and adamus on the left side Lamont Way Jr is an on base machine at first base then you have Tyler Fitzgerald uh you have you have you have you have options for days when you’re looking at the second base spot so the San Francisco Giants really don’t need to do anything more with the bats it’s all about the pitching focus on an ace spend $30 million on an ace you got about 24 million more to play with for your Bullpen and and go and go you’ve got to if you’re the Giants you’ve got to push hard this off season absolutely have to do this because you have like this is the fourth or fifth time I’m saying it now because it is it is it’s the it’s the landscape out west you have fallen behind and you’ve got to catch up Paul thank you for the 30 months how is this going to affect Alonzo’s asking price good question when we think about the dominoes here certainly San Francisco could have been a team for Pete Alonzo I think that’s it now done forget it any bats that you heard linked to San Francisco we have to be done with that the only reason why San Francisco would spend big money on a bat at this point is if they have no chance at grabbing any of the pitching I mean going at when signing Willie adamus remember this is going to cost them qualifying offer compensation so a player like Max freed a player like Corbin Burns two players that have qualifying offer compensations attached you’ve already spent some of that in Willie ad Damas are you going to spend in that area again or do you you really focus in on the Nathan avaldi and and the Jack flarities of this free agent group that’s you you’ve got to consider that as as well uh if we think about other uh other free agent starting pitchers that they could maybe go for you’ve also got Justin ferlander available on a one-year deal would be fine sha manah has the qualifying offer comp attached to him from the New York Mets you’ve got Max sherzer is out there Walker buer is out there could you imagine Walker berer in a Giant’s uniform I can’t avaldi feels like a play Charlie Morton feels like a play so you probably is we put all our thoughts together here you could probably take a step back after after after using uh or paying qualifying offer compensations here you have to probably take a step back from Corbin bur I’d be shocked anyway they they maybe they do it but I think you take a step back from Corbin Burns or Max freed or Shawn manah and then you take a step back from those three and you focus your sits on Justin Verlander Jack flarity Max Scherzer Nathan avaldi Charlie Morton I think that’s where you go you’ve got to go big game hunting though I I I I don’t want to see these guys go and sign Andrew Heeney um no or Mike Soka no big game hunting here top of the rotation Bulldog leadership that’s what you’ve got to get if you are uh if you are San Francisco in this equation where are you guys with this one who else is shocked again the SoDo piece going before SoDo goes let me make sure there’s nothing new happening on Twitter uh while we do that we have some tweets from Mark fan Adam’s deal includes a signing bonus of about 22 million the deal is pending a physical per source that kind of goes along with every deal these days everything at this point is pending a physical but night Gil tweeting the Giants franchise record deal for Willie adamus 74182 could be broken soon if they land Adam’s former Brewers teammate Corbin Burns again I’ll throw some cold water on The Bob Nightingale tweet from 20 minutes ago because I’ll be surprised if the Giants are willing to pay another draft pick compensation uh penalty Fe fee on top of this okay they’ve already done it once you’re going to do it again I’d be surprised you get to a certain point where if you’re doing it um the the the the the penalty what you’re giving up you’ve already given up the top of you know your your uh as high as you can go drafts if if you follow what I’m saying here so it gets to a point where you’re just like well screw it we we already don’t value those other picks so let’s just let’s just go obviously Corbin Burns is a safer play than whatever the pick would be because Willie adamus would probably be probably be I think your is is it your third highest draft pick um and and if and we’ll have to check that um what would Corbin bursby and now you got to weigh it out obviously you start moving back you start moving farther back maybe you you’re like nah it doesn’t matter so what Corbin Burns is far away better than what we could get with that draft pick uh in the second round or or where wherever that next uh wherever that next penalty will be two and five thank you mark uh let’s see here the Giants Braves and Dodgers were always the most active pursuers of adamus in trade talks there you go Giants Braves and Dodgers had been active for Willie in trade talks according to John Haymon and make damn sure you respect John Haymon don’t you dare I’m sure enough of you know what I’m referring to at this point uh let’s see here WF never again let’s see Jeff pass John morosi uh Willie D of the Giants 182 previous high was Buster posies 167 that is everything from everybody notable at this point that’s it for me for this one thank you guys for coming in and spending time with the channel to those of you that are new welcome in happy to have you welcome to the Community to those that have been here before salute you thank you as always ball cab Nation
