[Music] [Applause] [Music] Sixers win back-to-back games for just the second time this season career highs on assist and rebounds for the first career triple double for Tyrese Maxi plenty to get to on this edition of Sixers postgame line brought to you by Cur a insurance Amy F alongside the coach Jim Lam man or Big Man Mark Jackson and listen the Bulls made it interesting down the stretch they wouldn’t go away they shoot the three and Jim you mentioned that at halftime like listen this team can shoot the three they weren’t shooting it well they made a game of it but the Sixers prevailed and Jo and beid returned for 31 points yes uh overall Amy I thought that the Sixers defense was really very good as we saw in the early stages of the game Chicago really likes to play a quick game and they like to score the ball they’re not a great defensive team but they average 119 points the Sixers held them to 100 yeah I mean that’s the thing it they they can really score they don’t have a great defense so that’s one of thing you could hope you could to take advantage of and I joked first to 115 apparently it’s first to 100 just flat I think Mark Jackson but what did you see from Jolan beid in his return you know I thought you’s presence was huge on both ends of the floor I know we seen when he finished off statistically wise on offensive end but don’t take for granted how he was on the defensive end his presence around that R and on the defensive up front on the pick and roles is might important so you take all that to effect that he had a big effect and I loved how as the game progressed his touch came back started working at rust off ingame situation that was just perfect to watch yeah it was a lot of fun to watch in this one and I know there’s other things going on but this is really important right now people so thanks for joining us here on six postgame live we appreciate it tools two screen experience we check back in in Chicago and check in with Tyrese Maxi with Kate and allaha he is I like to call him The Marvelous Mr Maxi but today we’re just going to call him triple double Max yep I was rebounding like you getting the uh the bumps from Andre Drummond cuz you were rebounding like drum today Tyrese a career high 11 rebounds a career-high 14 assists to go along with your 25 points in a really frustrating day Tyrese how did you do it uh you know it was good it was good I mean the offense flow really well I think uh pick and roll was really good it couldn’t trap my pick and roll so I was able to get uh everybody involved get Jo going and then I was able to score myself too uh with a lot of extra space out there I had triple double it’s crazy right first one I always get nine rebounds nine rebounds nine rebounds M talk about that guy that was just giving you some dap there what’s it like having a big fella back and how does life change on the floor with him out there um do y’all really need me to say it honestly like I mean like he’s just good at basketball and then he just he creates space for the rest of us man he caught so much attention like I said I just see one double team off a pick and roll today that’s like the first time in you in a pretty long time so um when I’m able to come off and uh create shots for myself and create shots for my teammates and uh you know he able to do what Joel does it’s really good for us and I also want to talk about Kelly UB Jr because you and Joe and PG were working on the offensive End Kelly got to use his energy elsewhere 12 points 10 rebounds for Kelly had a couple of great defensive plays three steals what do you think of ko this afternoon yeah K was great K knows his role he does a really good job he has a lot of different roles on his team the matter um depending on who’s playing so we appreciate him for that I mean he stays calm he stays collected and uh he does a really good job with that I thought the defense was really good tonight they shot under 41% they struggled from Beyond The Arc tell me a little bit about the defense your role in it and how it’s getting better yeah I think the biggest thing is we’re playing hard you know we’re playing extremely hard like I said the last couple games maybe like the last seven games uh besides the Clippers game we played extremely hard um and guys really know that’s what it takes it’s it’s what it takes in this league I mean this is a very competitive league right now um g games are not just easy to come by but uh you know we’re doing a good job day by day Tyrese don’t look now but your Sixers have won four of their last five games congratulations on your first triple double this afternoon good run baby appreciate that let’s get out of here yeah go home get out of here with a win great moment there I know we’ll post it on social media but that was a great moment Joel and be genuinely we know they have a great relationship but his face when he heard that Tyrese Maxi got his first triple double from the man himself he’s like listen I usually get nine rebounds and he was genuinely excited that’s a great moment right there coach and Joe was but how about how happy Maxi was ex my first triple double like come on you got to give me that good fo brother so he had 11 rebounds his previous career high was 10 but in that game he did not have obviously double digit uh assists in this one 14 assists they really shared the ball well it helps though you’re Tyrese Maxi it helps when you got the big man out there it does Amy He commands so much attention you already said that he got to he got double teamed a lot this game which helps him out makes this game simpler for everyone else so you can’t stay you know minimize the effect that Joell embiid has he just makes the game easier for everyone he puts Sixers in a better position to look to get more Victor victories in in every game yeah and you’re looking at the victories the four of their last five now two in a row things I’m s c you got to repeat that four of their last five people things are not lost things are not lost it’s early in the season we just passed the quarter pole and having Jolan be back on the court really helps and they have a big break because the way the NBA Cup schedule is is happening they’ve got a nice big break which would help this gentleman right here we wondered how many minutes he would play since he was on minutes restriction he played 33 so I don’t I two minutes they took off the Norman three place I don’t know how that’s a minutes restriction but I’m here for it 31 points we mentioned he had 19 in the second quarter alone and the volume with which he shot coach 28 shots I mean that’s a guy that I guess he’s trying to get back in his rhythm but also like let’s get going yeah that had to be uh you know pre-planned because he got awful a tough start as we saw I think he missed first seven shots did not score in the first quarter but once he got it going in that second quarter there his teammates really looked for him he had 18 field goal attempts by the half so yeah really good to see Joe not just out there playing but being able to play this aggressively and respond in such a terrific fashion this is an an one my favorite part of this is the little the jump before that right after I’m watching the knee that’s what I’m watching right here and he was jumping I obviously that’s a block there variety of ways that got to the basket variety of ways he obviously scored but these are great drives you’re seeing him back down people in the low post I think that’s really when you’re watching what do I want to see from him this is what you wanted to see man energy yeah he was capable of playing with energy because like I said in the previous four games he played was only one game he a to play with full Vigor and force and explosion it was good to see him do that today and I was I was proud of him I was very proud of you to come out there do it and I’m glad this 16 came out a victory on the road in Chicago yeah it’s nice for them to be rewarded with this performance because uh you want them to to win the games that they play well in and they certainly did that and Tyrese Maxi we mentioned it his first career triple double he had 25 points 11 rebounds career high on that and career high on assist 14 and Jim something everybody’s going to love if you’re a coach 14 to3 on the assist to turnover ratio that is I mean that’s exemplary it’s some stat line you’re looking at right there how about he is the subject of our Yingling presents logger up and know his three-o shot has not come all the way back and I think that’s the one thing when you look at if you have any kind of you know question about what you’re looking for him what you’d like to see him do what do you think’s going on with that three-point shot because this is unusual for him yeah uh it is because he’s so much more consistent normally I we know career over 40% shooter I I think it’ll come in time and he got off to a you know with that injury early a little bit of a shake to start shooting from fre but he’s had a couple real good shooting games of late but I the consistency isn’t quite there yet yeah I mean I’m not going to nitpick because he had a tremendous game 14 assists in a game that you win by eight is imperative that you need this kind of performance but also when you look at his stat line you go all the way over he had led everything plus 21 in a game you win by eight points talk about a Difference Maker Mark Jackson absolutely it’s good to see him having a good game and do it do it with everyone on the floor can we can we not yes everyone’s floor so it was good for him to do that find his rhythm because you know that’s a filling out process we know they played what seven minutes together before playing an entire game like this together you have to find your rhythm with these guys like when do I shoot when do I pass when do I be aggressive when do I defer so it was good to see him find his Mark The Big Three they were on the court all together it’s the first time this season 17 and 15 7 and 15 the season first time they’ve started and finished a game together coach first time that’s what we want to see there Paul George obviously a little bit of an off night but it’s fine when you’ve got the other two doing what they’re doing yeah I think one of the nice things like you can literally kind of shake them and whatever two come out of the bag with the big games the third guy’s going to be complimentary the way Paul George was tonight and I think you get had Jared McCain did that he even had a couple timely buckets I thought when Chicago was making a run so yeah a very very good signs of things to come yeah it would take 70 points about from three guys any day of the week let’s check in with nurse after his team’s win in Chicago well just how encouraging was that to just see him look like himself really I guess yeah uh certainly um big turnaround from the first quarter right you were in that stage of kind of oh you know what’s going to go on here tonight and then all of a sudden certainly caught caught fire there um with a little bit of variety I know it kind of seemed like a lot of F line jumpers which it was but he snuck in a roll or two We snuck in a couple post-ups or two um no three balls tonight but but a little variety there um but yeah certainly I think gave us a lot of confidence but obviously we guarded really well his team’s been averaging 127 a game over their last five I think um we rebounded extremely well tonight both ends you talked about the defense and the menu expanding on that just what what do you feel like has most clicked into place like to allow you to do that and continue to run your own yeah I mean so we played um two different Mand defenses tonight and we played two different zones tonight so that’s the first thing we got a little bit of a menu which we’ve been using lately and then in the manto man stuff they’re just doing such a better job of handing off Personnel to each other like they’re communicating really well when we’re doing a lot of switching but when there’s a little on big we somehow find out find a way to get our big back on the big and our little back on a somewhat you know better matchup and then the adjustments you know there’s a ton of adjustments that go with that and we’re we don’t have a ton of them down but we got a good handful of them down Kelly had that stretch in the third quarter with three offensive rebounds that I think all led to open three-point shots and two of them went in three steals had that sequence with the three and then the draws the offensive foul uh I guess does this feel like sort of the optimal version of Kelly within this team is something like what he did today he he he did a he did a great role there right like he did a he got on the glass he he guarded all night long he played really tough and and then it’s and it’s not that easy to kind of only take a three every 18 minutes or something like you know what I mean like and he and he stuck a couple of them so yeah I mean he was fighting like heck for rebounds he was fighting like Heck on the defensive end loose balls all that stuff really really great um role playing job there for him right 12 points in a great game uh not a lot of yabu in the second half I don’t think any drumond a lot of Jared was that just about sort of countering the the pace that Chicago was playing at starting four guards and going really small yeah I just most of it um you know we start the second half with Jared again it was pace and shooting at least the appearance of shooting spacing out there um and then I felt like Joel played a you know a good chunk of minutes and I just again wanted wanted yaboo for the again some spacing when Joel was out just that goes like that sometimes certain guys don’t don’t quite fit in a game but they’re playing four guards all the time yeah the fact that you guys have four days off now did that contribute to you feeling comfortable having Joel go 30 33 I’m going to have to going to have to see how he comes out of it obviously but yeah that was that was factored in yep uh first career triple double for Tyrese I guess what were you seeing from him not just as a scorer but all around was he doing well well I I really like the assists and the rebounds I know when I know when he’s hitting Joel a lot and Joel’s rolling those are going to rack up pretty fast but love the defensive rebounding for him it’s not been asking him to become a better defensive rebounder so chasing the ball good that’s that’s my favorite part and I thought he again he’s he’s still not shooting like we know he can shoot right um but he turned on the Jets and got to the rim at some at some pretty opportune times I thought yeah mentioned that first quarter did you feel pretty good being down 10 at that point yeah I thought I said it on the bench a couple times I was like who we could be down so we were playing so bad right really bad and uh yeah I I said this to I looked down we were down five like with a couple minutes ago I was like how are we down five and and yeah I did feel pretty good when tyese and Jared are on the court together you could look at it and say Well they’re two kind of undersized guards relatively but at least the results so far have been really promising even on the defensive end what are you seeing from that to or the guys behind them that have allowed that parent yeah so we’ve we’ve um they’ve had some they had some early SE season struggles defensively we just we just have really worked on getting them to play a lot bigger and more physical and they’ve done it they’ve stood in there and and just used a little more like Jared’s really strong he’s no there’s no reason why he can’t be a good Defender right he’s he’s big plays can play a lot bigger than his size just wasn’t but he is now a little bit and we’re doing a good job of again like I mentioned before we’re doing a good job of um getting them back to matchups after something happens where they’re not just totally mismatched right so we’re doing a pretty good job of that yeah how do you planted this is not such a weird stretch in this schedule where there’s like two games in 10 days or whatever it is how do you sort of plan to try to optimize and maximize the extra practice time yeah we have tomorrow off and Training Camp starts on Tuesday yeah that’s what I that’s what I told them we’re going to we’re going to practice man and work on a bunch of stuff we need to get we need to get better at all week all week Joel’s man fourth was that sort of within the bounds of the it was pretty close it was pretty close yeah F he was feeling really good wanted to play it’s feeling good yep you talked about with Drummond and yabu just the idea that sometimes there’s a game that’s not for a certain guy just a match up that doesn’t work I guess how have you learned to communicate that to players when you know they’re going to want to play Big minutes every night of course yeah I mean I think I think it’s kind of always constant communication I think that there’s nights uh you know even with Caleb KJ you know some of those guys it’s just not going to roll some nights it’s not going to roll their way right so I think it’s a kind of a general conversation we have a lot um and some like and and the one thing I I do believe then if it is rolling your way like KJ Martin the other night you’re going you’re going to play the whole time right so I think they all know that kind of give and take a little bit where if there’s going to be some short stin nights but there’s also going to be some long ones kind of even out the the minutes y
