Florida State lands a big time defender in the form of fourstar edge rusher Jesse Harold he’s also known in some recruiting circles as Le Jessie heral same guy decommitted from LSU recently and now he has chosen Florida State big time position in Need for Florida State Michael langson senior recruiting analyst for warchant.com joins me and I to talk about this recruitment Jesse Harold to the nolles Michael this is a nice get late in the cycle didn’t see this coming a month ago or two months ago did we no we did and even me I I heard stuffff about you they were still in contact but I mean looking at the season you’re looking at FSU seas and you’re like you’re not gonna get a flip from LSU uh so you get the stuff but you’re like not really like is this really gonna happen even though he was from Tampa Gaither High School Gaither Cowboys shout out to them but uh even then you didn’t know and then we started to hear about the visits and then once I saw an off visit was set up that’s when I started to really get the trending you know factors with this one took the official visit was kind of secretive of different things he would you know go and official visit kind of where he had to get up with him and then Matt later I think got up with him in that that following Sunday but it was kind of like he he knew kind of where it was where it was going and and but um overall a tremendous pickup tremendous Edge guy that certainly knows how to get after the pass uh you know to the quarterback and I think I think it’s all agreement like after they lost jvon hillison and these other guys man did they need some Edge guys and um certainly he’s a great you know great start to that and I think he adds a lot to what they’re looking for Motors tremendous goes downhill really well and then uh just constant um being a havoc in the back field is that’s kind of what I think Tony white if you looked at a Tony white guy you feel like this guy would be kind of what Tony White’s looking for to kind of kick off that campaign of you know defensive players so do you think that LSU struggles this season played a role in his decommitment from from that program because you know a lot of times Michael you look at where the kids are from he’s from the state of Florida closer to home I’m sure that that has some appeal for he and his family but do you think LSU struggles the fact that they they did not make the playoff they didn’t take that step forward this year might have helped Florida State’s case here I think that was part of it uh certainly that contributed to it no doubt uh I think also the thing was kind of resurgence of what FSU is doing that once they you know made the changes they made without The Hires I think it was still there was an excitement around FSU that was different and so you know that’s when we started hearing about the buzz of of of Jesse um so I think it was kind of a combination of both of those things where LSU is like okay you hear stuff about LSU every year and then you get out there and then it’s just like it’s the same thing they win eight games and you know you know and they just don’t they don’t never meet the expectation what they are there was probably concerns about hey they’re going to keep Brian Kelly I think it was even a game where they’re playing banbu and it’s like if they don’t win this game man I think he could get fired or something but I think uh so I think there were concerns leading leading up to that and all that stuff and so I think um a lot of that was just it was helping FSU and then FSU just keep working the relationship with with Norville and just probably communicating uh of what kind of their plan was of what they going to do on defense and even the defensive line and I think that really started to resonate with him and then just I think getting this this hire couldn’t come at a better time uh it’s always big when you get these hires done right before uh you know the signing day whether it’s an early one or a later one and I think certainly having their guy in place and having all these pieces certainly helped FSU uh you know pull off a really big uh you know commitment from Jesse well that that’s another thing that you know we learn something every cycle and so for Florida State to be in a position to you know cut ties with their former coordinators a couple of weeks out I think that pays off in this particular instance Michael because again you know is there enough time from Game 12 until Signing Day yes there is if you if you can make your decisions quickly because this isn’t even on the offensive side of the ball you know Gus malan’s name was known before kickoff against Florida on Saturday Tony white wasn’t finalized until Monday of signing day week but it made a difference is what you’re saying the name being hired by Florida State made a difference in in getting Herald to say all right I’m coming to Tallahassee it did and uh sometimes firings are good that’s not good for the people we feel terrible for them because it’s a business but uh for the program it sometimes it’s a very you know significant positive of of kids seeing that there’s going to be a a new Direction and and like I’ve said in these previous videos the FSU brand does not change the two And1 does not change what their brand is or how they’re viewed by people from the outset whether it’s their hires or the way kids recruits look at them so I think that was attraction certainly being close to home I think that was also another attraction from Tampa so I think that that certainly helps and just the excitement and I think this piece is just came together you know for FSU and in this recruitment that they were able to get that then get them on campus finish the job Mike probably answered all the questions Jesse had you know throughout that visit and uh just got it done 6’4 230 lb Florida State getting some energy some excitement around this particular cycle for its recruiting class salvaging something out of it Michael but then they got to go to work in the transfer portal and just judging by what youve told me uh off the air yeah it’s sounds like Florida state is attracting people uh at a at a pretty decent clip this isn’t rose-colored glasses garnet and gold color glasses the brand of Florida State and the changes they’ve made the statement they’ve made with these coaching changes has at least attracted interest for kids to kick the tires and see what’s going on in Tallahassee 2 and 10 has been met with some positive momentum uh to to counterbalance it is is that fair to say I think it’s very fair to say I think you’ll see some from you know Tony White’s old school uh that he was at I think uh that’s the given when you look at all the defensive linemen that have hit the portal I’ve mentioned on the boards of guys that I told that that would follow that are from you in that Nebraska form and and some that haven’t even entered yet that I’m keeping an eye on so I think there’s several and uh and there’s several from other schools I think it always new hires are sexy and people get excited then there’s always excitement around new hires especially when you get somebody that has had a history of of developing and and building up you know top defenses I think kids resonate to that and it’s certainly uh working Pro tip for you out there that are
