with the Hall of Famer Chris will and the pride of Yale Zena kada I am bante Hill live here at the Gat house in Thrive City quickly Zena what a roll reversal in that third and fourth quarter everything we said at the half take care of the ball faster Pace here we go all right Stephen Curry took care of the ball then the Warriors took care of the ball no turnovers in that PIV third quarter Steph welcome to the show and a great night for you and you discussed it Friday night about the offense being stagnant well it feels like you guys busted out of that slump in the second half out score Minesota 65 to 48 tell us what was working there in that second half we just Tred to keep things simple you know we got we got Playmakers on the floor and obviously buddy shot the ball amazing JK showed up in the second half with his force in the paint Draymond setting guys up Ton you kavine like he the timely offensive rebounds the timely rolls to the basket everybody contributed just trying to keep things simple like you said not turn the ball over was huge went from 22 to 11 turnovers uh that’s the difference in the game Steph you were able to have 19 fast break points when you think about the pace being spurred by the defense how are you guys able to get things going defensively to get your offense going we played really well defensively last game too against them trying to make him make tough shots you know an going to get his unbelievable player but as long as you don’t foul you keep the game moving and the turnovers you know helped or the lack of turnovers helped our defense everything is kind of kind of connected you know in terms of the momentum of a game even though they went on the run in the fourth quarter we still had a Clarity of how we needed to play on both ends of the floor I forgot about GP as well unbelievable you go look at the numbers unbelievable defense turning a couple possessions our way and just making a tough down the stretch yeah Steph you talk about connecting the game I was going to bring up gp2 Anthony award’s last three uh possessions two missed uh three-point shots and a steal by gp2 you get out in the open floor hit buddy heel basically the game winner talk about GP 2’s defense on Anthony Edwards yeah we went small with jaymond at the five and and GP with his ball pressure that’s a way to to negate you know attack to the rim you you you just P pass to the ball handler like you said down the stretch he just made ant work and that’s all you can do a can make shots over anybody but we made him work the the timely steal that got buddy the the three in the corner everything was connected and he took the challenge personally uh that last four minutes was unbelievable Steph one more thing you you okay with draymond’s night night after the dunk how would you great that absolutely never seen him do it I know he was in Paris for the gold medal game uh I’m sure he’ll hit a dagger three at some point but the the dagger dunk in the night that’s that’s new territory for the night night cuz you won’t see me doing that hey Andy it was welld deserved right cuz Antman was talking that talk friday night you guys ow him one Steph yes sir that’s the cool thing about this baseball Series uh you know protect our home court have a chance to come back and it was a nice win all right Steph we’ll see you for the NBA Emirates cup Wednesday night against Houston good game Steph Yes sir appreciate it folks and ladies oh yeah of course always respectful always always respectful but that defense you brought up GP to the connectivity and Zen you brought it up in the third quarter defense Turner offense we saw JK digging in defensively because his offensive game was working he had three pull-ups in there in the third quarter and then buddy got rolling we beg for another score at halftime well he got a couple scores there in the second half 11 points from JK and buddy heill just in that third quarter and they were locked in not only taking care of the ball as Steph mentioned but also making sure that things got uncomfortable for the Timberwolves no turnovers in the third quarter how about that I love that it was beautiful offense in the second half you saw in the first half things were a little bit Mucky it was basically Steph Curry offense let’s give him the ball see what he can do in the second half they were much more diligent about setting things up can we get some ball some pick and roll set up with JK and Steph Curry can we attack the paint interesting last night the paint points in the paint differential it was 30 for the Warriors 44 for the Timberwolves switched it tonight Warriors end up with 48 points at the basket this is pressuring the inside defense which is exactly what they needed to do we saw some great atos by Steve Kerr uh resulted in baskets I thought an adjustment offensively they they bought um Rudy goar up the floor into a lot of ball screens getting him away from the basket now lot his man didn’t always score but he was away from the basket that next pass led to a drive much better uh high quality shots closer to the basket because go bads away from the paint will the Warriors use that moment momentum in the third quarter eight jumped outs one 11o lead in a fourth 102 to 91 but Minnesota storn back on a about tell you we saw that that shot by Anthony Edwards Big Time dagger three to put them up by one his next three possessions two Miss three-point shots and a turnover caused by gp2 no doubt about that but how about the winning streak that Minnesota had over to goto State Warriors they had four they had won four straight games against the dubs inside this building Chase Center they had lost six to seven overall to Minnesota and they seem to be the boogeyman to the Warriors they had all the answers there but the Warriors solved something here Zena and it started on the defensive end it started on the defensive end you saw people locking in and the thing about is before this game we talked about the second that you don’t have your defense locked in you’re now questioning things you’re deferring on offense you’re not sure if you’re supposed to make that next pass or that take the next shot so you love to see them not only locking on defense getting excited about being able to turn the ball over and then running back on offense and letting things happen in the fast break and look Minnesota had some very decisive wins but by the Warriors last five games but to me the boogeyman was really the turnovers and that was caused by their length of course and their great defensive play uh from the Timberwolves but the Warriors took care of the basketball tonight in the second half they dominated fast break points they dominated points off turnover Second Chance points more importantly took care of the basketball exploded for 44 points in the third quarter I think they shot about 70% in the second half yeah 72% overall in that third quarter alone and on defense the warriors were much more decisive of what they wanted to give up if they wanted to give up the corner three that’s fine as long as they were not allowing them to get through the middle of the paint and go through the perimeter so that was that was good that they were able to see all right we can we can go we can live and die by you know whatever you want in the corner and ironically that third quarter we were down there they they went to a 212 kind of three quter kind of college type token token pressure and they gave up some Corner threes y Minnesota missed them they got some run outs and that’s when they started really get that game moving up and down the floor and in turn you know at halftime fast break points were 4-2 winds up 99 Warriors yeah no doubt Stephen Curry was the started to show it he kept the Warriors in it as they were down 58 to 49 at the half Steph was the only one providing the offense in the second half you you saw buddy heeld come out of the slump woo come out of that rut that he was in JK be the maximized player that you wanted him to be tonight and now all of them are working together in tandem much better organization I thought the screening tonight overall was much better you saw those clips whether it was a pin down a flat screen or a ball screen Rudy Gober involved in most of them away from the floor up by the three-point line so he had a recover to Steph Curry one time Steph drove by him another time dropped in a three back door cut so they involved Rudy goar in a lot of actions up on the top of the floor all right buddy Hill he receives a start tonight no Andrew Wiggins who’s out with right ankle impingement and it was a big loss he’s not picked on on defense you can respect buddy held’s defense and even though Anthony Edwards had some Choice moments through that uh the the you know the mix that he was covering him buddy heill still held his own and he was exactly he was a competitor he was involved especially on the offensive glass you saw him tipping things out getting more opportunities for the Warriors so overall really impressed with his game tonight buddy Hill it’s just a matter of him getting good quality looks he’s a 40% shoot over his entire career he’s going to knock down threes you got to get him good looks in Rhythm tonight he played 35 minutes so he had a lot of time on the floor didn’t have a great first half came back with a dynamic second half uh and as you said I I thought the Warriors did a really good job double teaming Anthony Ed was making him give the ball up yeah you know and he was creating for his teammates but come down crunch time I thought that wore on him and he didn’t have a great Rhythm at the end of the game when it when it mattered most yeah no doubt about that he’s going to be on the Dub’s talk live podcast coming up this week so that should be a fun fun listen buddy buckets with a nice night as well as Jonathan kaminga we talked so much in the pregame show about maximizing JK even when he got some plays where he was called for some fouls that were questionable he didn’t fall towards that right last the last last time they played you saw him in his head at the free throw lines every time that he made a silly foul or something like that tonight absolutely not he was focused on the right thing you could feel like his vets were in his ear stay focused don’t worry about that and all throughout tonight you saw him really lock in 20 points seven rebounds eight free throw attempts so he was attacking the paint um I I think Buddy heeld and Jonathan kaming are both really impressive second half performances because we said it halftime who’s going to help Steph Curry out in the scoring department they both stepped up big time after really struggling in the first half yeah I’m glad you mentioned the free throws he’s got to get to that free throw line he made five of those free throws overall the Warriors 14 to 20 from the free throw line but 77 points between Steph buddy and JK I’m not sure if that’s going to happen consistently but with them being empowered at that starting lineup alongside Draymond Green maybe Steve K found another formula here moving forward you give a little bit more time to Donathan kaminga he’s going to produce what you need him to produce and he did that tonight against a tough competition in the Minnesota Timberwolves defense showed up we we got to show Lon dog love right six eight Off the Bench 12 points big time rebounds key buckets non winning screen in the right place at the right time gavon Ludy an underrated star in Nena always on the glass always get cleaning things up right whatever whatever happens he’s always cleaning things up on the offensive end and also being able to be a great screener that is so key and underrated in an offense to allow your guards to get off and get a clean look yeah I felt like once Lon started setting screens on Steph would go be and they would doubling him I think they just left him wide open and all of a sudden and they started going to with other players so his screen and roll game opened up something for the Warriors you saw Jonathan kinger in that pick and roll you saw Draymond in there involving Rudy goar in all the actions yeah the Warriors get a big time win over Minnesota they lost five in a row to the t-wolves but they snapped that streak tonight and they get a much needed win here chasing are now improving at s and4 at home and they’ll get ready for the rockets on Wednesday in the Emirates NBA cup quarterfinals we’re going to have a one-on-one with cavon Looney on other side plus here from Steve kerk how much of the Gary start was just to to get him on Edwards and then what did you think about what he did yeah I mean that that was a big part of it without wigs uh we wanted to start Gary on Ant and um just have our best defender on him right away Gary’s also um historically really good with Steph um and then we just felt like we we we got to get buddy going and it’s um the best way to to do it is put him out there with um with that group and um you know if Buddy’s out there with Steph that that makes the game easier for him too so um that’s why we went the route we did and um it looked like you know took us a little bit of time but um opened up the game for us um and our guys just um you know stayed with it and eventually started hitting shots obviously Buddy’s best game in a long time what do you see from him getting in the flow of the offense and really Catching Fire there well it took him a little bit you know he missed he missed shots early and um but we’re we’re at our best uh when we’re playing fast and U with a lot of pace and that’s what buddy does really well he runs the floor in transition um probably better than anybody you know on our team he just Sprints to the corners and it creates a lot of space and he’s you know early in the season he was getting a lot of shots in transition uh from the corners and so um that was kind of the idea um see if we could get him going again our offense has really been struggling so um he he just you know eventually found his comfort Zone and and confidence and got going again held them to 16 points in the fourth quarter Edwards only had three kind of the reverse of last night what was what was the key defensively fourth Gary I mean also the help behind him I mean uh Draymond and JK both made some really good plays at The Rim uh draymond’s help allows Gary to um you know to maintain that pressure uh on on Edwards and and um you know trust that he’s got help behind him but I thought Gary was um was just brilliant tonight over here Steve um talking about Gary I mean an got up and a couple of guys got up to go to the scores table and Gary and also at the very same time entered the game you got a less than 10 minutes to go you’re up six what did you want him to do to ant I mean was it just scoring defending taking over what what was the goal for Gary there uh just to make things hard I mean ant is um incredible player and you know laid third he just had it had it rolling and um so at that point it’s just put your best defender on them and um you don’t really want to send a double team because um you got other guys who are knocking down shots um you know Alexander Walker was hot uh so we just wanted Gary to to play him straight up give him some help um you know in the gaps try to make things a little crowded without without double teaming and um and Gary Gary and the guys behind him did a great job of that is is one of his his talents just being being super annoying Gary Gary yeah yes a lot like Raymond uh Ritter um he takes you know he’s Gary talks to Raymond a lot about how to be annoying and uh so no I think you know Gary has found uh his career here you know he bounced around played in the g-league played all over the place but um you know what what his Forte is his um he is Elite defensively and I think part of being a great defender you you got to bother people um it’s different from Raymond because Raymond can’t guard anybody he just bothers people in other ways he does bother people yes he does uh third quarter in particular the pace what did you feel like that opened up for you guys yeah I mean that that was um that was key and that but I think the key to that was we weren’t trying to hit home runs you know early in the game we were you know we were trying to play fast but we were making risky passes and turning it over and then in the third quarter I think we finally settled down and just um you know hit singles through through the ball to the first open guy ran the floor the game got really easy um you know offensively at that point in transition whereas you know first half we frantically trying to get the ball out and turning it over and now they’re making a three and the game’s hard when you do it that way so we’re hammering that home and um you know second half I think we had like four or five turnovers um and and just just much more solid decisionmaking and then what you make a JK’s allaround game beyond the 20 points he gave you JK was great again you know he gave us uh for SC to the rim uh gave us defense three block shots um so he’s he’s really finding um you know a good Groove and and it’s fun to to see him you know starting to to Blossom uh coach what was the uh morale like of the team coming in tonight and was there any psychological thing you did with them uh no I I I just uh the the the morale I think it was a like confidence more than anything the morale is good these guys are great they they love each other they they pull for each other they play hard uh but you know you lose six of seven and and you go cold um offensively you just lose a little rhythm a little confidence and um so I think that was a big thing we had to just find our our mojo again and um we obviously had it early in the season um lost it over the last couple weeks but you can’t you can’t waiver you know you have to make adjustments but um I’ve been telling them you know this last week that I just I can always tell when we got a good vibe when a good good chemistry with the group and we we have that with this team so it’s a matter of just finding um the combinations and and and playing with confidence and then also what are your thoughts on an NBA Cup coming up is uh yeah I mean we’re we’re we’re excited playing these games bun of you played in games of note a bunch of times but I don’t know if this has that same feel um I think there’s more of a buzz for it this year than there was last year like anything else it um you know it’s going to take a little time to catch on but um our guys are excited for it you know they they talk about it they they want to win this thing and um you know we’re disappointed that we U lost to Denver forcing us to go on the road um but uh you know we uh we got to got to go to Houston and and see what we can do Steve you’ve mentioned um Steph’s knees keeping him from being as active as he’d like at at times but tonight he seemed active at an elite level that looked like he was not bothered um a couple of those assists to JK and healed right um in crunch time I mean did he looked like he was just back to feeling really good physically yeah I mean part of the 82 Game season as you get older especially there’s going to be nights where you don’t feel um great and um that’s part of it but you know just because uh someone has tontis in their knees um doesn’t mean it’s going to last you know all season and and uh so he takes incredible care of his body finds his way um through the season with help from Rick and Rick’s staff and U some Knights are better than others um but um he look great out there tonight and um so he’s he’s he’s managing things really well do you do you enjoy some of those passes he makes almost as some of much as the some of them the 39 foot not all of them okay couple of those that I mentioned though he made some brilliant passes tonight uh you know the pick and roll finding the pocket Looney JK Draymond um he’s so fun to to watch and and you know we’re all so lucky here I’m lucky to coach him we’re all Lucky to watch him um he’s one of the great players of all time he’s also one of the most entertaining players of all time he’s also um incredible competitor and just a great um great teammate so we’re we’re blessed and uh you know we’re we’re U we’re enjoying it every every night while we can Steve buddy hadn’t scored 20 since like November 4th I think um and you were just talking about finding your mojo how much do you think that Mojo uh is buddy just getting off and scoring because he you guys started off so well when he scored 20 points in that streak early yeah he’s a big factor and and um so the the last couple weeks he’s you know he’s struggled but a lot of guys have struggled with their shot um but he he does seem to be an x- factor for us and uh so that’s what we have to think about is uh you know the combinations uh what we’re running for him you know we obviously he’s new to us this year so we’ve got to figure all that stuff out um you know our analytics Department really gave it a good look um you know pabel sidu does a great job I you know I I asked him um yesterday he said what do you what do you think and he said he said um you know maybe try buddy and and Gary in the starting lineup and you know gave me some numbers and and we know that Gary and Steph are off the charts good together um but the three-man combination you get you know your two best Shooters and your best perimeter defender on the floor at the same time um so I give pabel a lot of credit it was great suggestion um now we got to figure out you know what what we do when wigs comes back um but um you know we started Draymond at the five I’ve said I don’t really want to start him at the five we have we we have a lot of interesting uh difficult decisions but um you know we’re learning a lot about our team for sure and I think uh you did crack a smile seeing Draymond do the night night how would you critique his night night is he’s no Steph Curry um but it was a you know it was a decent impersonation and I appreciated the passion behind it was that guy said what’s that analytics guy pabel sidu yeah yeah he’s been with us for a while and um so you know one of the things that that I think we’ve found over the last few years is um we’ve got we’ve we’ve found a better um sort of connection between you know basketball and and the analytics Department we’ve hired young young guys uh will shei is U wonderful Lane Wilson these guys are you know we’re getting a younger gener generation of coaches who are more SK schooled in analytics but now they can connect that to the game because they’re also basketball coaches and I think that’s U it’s an area where we’ve improved is one of the reasons I brought Kenny Atkinson on board to to try to you know put all this stuff together and um and pale’s been you know kind of the the lead guy behind it and um you know this stuff is not foolproof but you see Trends um and we have people tracking all this stuff and we’re Gathering inform and then we have to make decisions that we feel like make sense so um it worked tonight and we’ll you know we we’ll see where it goes just to check uh sorry was was Moody available in the second half no no he was injured he was out for the for the game it was the same same issue that yeah same thing I mean is there I mean that’s two straight games yeah I don’t know don’t know what’s next when did you learn you were starting when I learn when did you learn when everybody know meeting just a meeting did I mean he really kind of tweaked the lineup in a large degree I mean did did it surprise you I mean whatever takes a win uh whatever he feels that will help us give us the best chance to win you know uh we have a deep team and uh anybody can start every good night but I feel he’s just trying to figure out what what groups click together uh probably tonight know W is out too but uh I think he I think that lineup was up before and I think he probably likeed the numbers I don’t know whatever it is but uh he think want to play faster and uh get off a good start one of the one of the reasons he gave was he that that he wants to get you going I mean did you did it feel like starting kind of getting in the Rhythm getting more minutes that kind of got you going uh yeah it worked out today for sure uh but uh you know just you know when I’m when whenever I’m out there with Steph and uh Dre and uh G you know the call to see how really good he is you know I know he was good but I really got to see like yo he’s special and uh I think you know only for a good player like an you really can stop him you just could try to slow him down I think G I think GP was kind of annoying just flicking the ball being aggressive trying to blow up some plays and uh had him thinking and uh uh he made some some great plays down the stretch and uh that helped us to see l in great thank you we have GP thank you I got to go yeah that’s why that’s I I had two turn one turnover if I can hit a goddamn shot how’d you feel you did tonight uh defensively on on Edwards uh probably made it tougher than Friday night and uh uh yeah guy like him um can’t let him get comfortable early so I just try to you know disrupt and you know make him work earlier in the game uh try to just continue to wear him down wear him down he was making tough shots uh you know and then at the end you know strap up and uh make plays without Wiggins were you anticipating you know getting the start on him probably yeah what’s uh is kind of I guess the key especially like late you know in the fourth quarter uh when you’re going up against him uh like I said in the beginning starts in the beginning can’t let him be comfortable early and then he’s just continuing to have confidence throughout the game and then late situations he already got the confidence the Rhythm um you know then he starts to you know take the tough shots and make the tough shots so just try to bother him earlier um make it tough for him early and then uh later down the line you know he’s still not in a rhythm kind of but you know just make it tough and you know our our coverage and our schemes you know make him second think and you know get out of his hand sometimes he’s going just going to take tough shots so and we’re going to live with those what what was going through your mind when you saw Draymond Blow by go bear throw down a dunk and hit the night night it’s time to go home it’s time to go home knockout punch uh he I think he did the whole night night through the whole possession uh so you already know um we get another big stop down the way JK makes a big defensive stops goes off them it’s game Gary you you had two steals uh in that fourth quarter there describe one especially the second one because the second one’s kind of crazy the jump steel oh yeah um yeah I think we was blitzing him and then I seen Dre was there so I try to cover get back for Dre and you know let him red out and and through a line drive and put my hands up be disruptive I got my hands on and got it get it toward is there a certain mentality you go out there and in other words do you think steal or do you think just limit I mean what what’s the mentality T because you did some of both in this fourth quarter ant was one of seven in the fourth quarter and you were the main guy on him yeah just try to be disruptive you know when you get the ball um if he brings it close to me try to get a hand on it give my teammates to you know defense a couple more seconds to reset and let him go get it and then set back up it’s probably going to be a high ball screen or something um we know we in and you know just try to get my hand on the ball if I can get my hand on a tip deflection or if I can grab it and grab it is there something more special about doing something against like that against a guy at his caliber uh it’s fun it’s very fun uh make those guys think and work um as they do for great Defenders you know um brought the best out of me tonight and you know bring the best out of him he’s got to work I got to work um it’s pretty from match up every time Gary you mentioned uh you want to go out and bother him can you get more specific on that what do you do you know get hands on him or just push him annoy him what do you if he’s talking to the refs I think I’m doing a pretty good job so what was he saying uh something what were you saying to him nothing smiling let him talk he’s a pretty funny guy so him talking to the refs is uh got a mic ant up more often it’s pretty funny so uh just bother him you know if he’s want to talk to the ref and you know tell them you know they missed a foul or whatnot you know might have might have F might have not but if they ain’t call it it ain’t no [Laughter] foul can you just talk about the mentality of the team over the last during a little tough stretch such a hot start then you had that stretch um confidence waiver or what was the locker room in the move like uh we just came out you know hit first um from Friday’s game came out flat uh this game hit first you know they went on their run and you know second half we came out where we struggled a lot this season in the second third and fourth quarter you know when we have leads um come out we were locked in you know it’s not always going to be perfect but we get through the little hiccups and uh keep playing keep having effort just keep flying around and good things will happen and I think you know we we got better today at that third and fourth quarter you know in those situations don’t turn the ball over uh execute and defensive wise uh we had each other’s back last couple games um kind of not sure you know we had help there or what not but um we we getting our reps in and you know we’re having each other’s back now so get back to that trust and I feel like uh this is a great start to get back on the right track Steve mentioned it and this has been a thing in the past but uh that you and Steph are just the the numbers the analytics on you on the court together are way up there obviously you know having him out there helps but why do you think you as a pairing has has worked so well uh I don’t know I just understand how to get him open and if you get him open it’s a pretty high chance that he’ll do something great so um I just work on finding ways to get him open different ways read how the Defenders are playing him what they doing with me and him usually it’s a big on me when they go so he’s probably going to be in a drop so if I get a hit on his guy and hold it uh you can come off with a good look if not they want to Blitz it hit me in the pocket just make plays Gary but buddy was just in here and and uh he’s one three from from 2000 he wished he’d gotten it tonight but uh um he he mentioned this sort of the responsibility of being a face of kids for kids in the Bahamas I mean can you can you imagine the the kids there who look up to this guy and and want to shoot like buddy I mean I know people want to shoot like Steph but here’s here’s a guy who can can lift some some kids’ dreams no absolutely he lifts his team every day and he comes in smiling and I know that smile travels all the way back to Bahamas and those kids you know they have the same smile when he’s on the court and I know every game they go bananas over there and they go to bars watch whatever the whole City’s watching buddy so um you know how he plays and what he does um it’s kind of like a Steph effect just in the over there in the islands you know they shouting buddy so um It’s pretty dope um we know what he means to this team and what he means to the Bahamas so we’re not worried about that he going to get that for sure so congrats to Buddy Love he belonged to the world and you know um his energy is contagious here he comes in and he sets the vibe for our team every day so he’s a hell of a hell of a guy how does he set the vibe specifically smile that’s it that’s it you just need a buddy smile and that’s it and he’ll he’ll get you to smile all right right even if his shots not f it doesn’t matter he’s been smiling ever since he’s been in the slump so nothing changes his his energy his Vibes he’s in the gym regardless making them missing them he’s he’s in the gym every day getting them up he doesn’t leave until it feels right so have you ever seen somebody else who’s not smiling smile after buddy walks in absolutely Lon Dre um myself Steve doesn’t matter you see buddy and Buddy’s going to say what’s up with that smile yeah he’s going to get you to smile a little bit yes oh you guys are great enjoy your Sunday it’s kind of early what time is it it’s still 9: is it 9: what do you think the key was was offensively tonight uh it wasn’t great at the beginning you know feel like third quarter fourth we pick it up uh you know we just had to speak about it in locker room and uh and I feel like we just did not foul as much uh we stay locked in and we stay poison you know no matter how things were going and I think that was the key you’re talking about halftime you guys talking about it yes sir what was the General message at halftime stay solid stop fing uh um yeah things I was there how much I guess you guys started very different tonight you were at the four Draymond at the five Gary out there buddy out there how different did that lineup feel spacewise and all that uh I mean you not feel anything different uh I mean you know I’m used to playing that way you know we we don’t have like a like a men L up that we re on every time so I’m used to it and it feel it feel good you know it feel good to be out there with Dre uh Gary you know uh when you guys play with the pace you had in the third quarter in particular what does that open up for for you guys as an offense uh I feel like we’re just uh we play with pace and just taking care of the ball I had a bad turnover early in the game and you know things like that affect you but you know I feel like we ain’t had as much in the third uh when we went out there and started running uh we start running a better offense and and uh respecting all the details on offense and I feel like that kind of help us to take the lead and and uh push the the score up a little bit uh Jonathan what does it mean to you um to kind of be the starting to be in the starting lineup now Steve said he wants to kind of give you a look and see what how it’s going looking Draymond said hey a lot of people in this franchise feel like you’re next so it’s time to see the next big thing in the franchise what does that mean to you I mean it means a lot you know it’s not something I should go out there you know and lift my shoulder about it’s just uh I you know it’s a blessing you know to be in that position I feel like it’s just a more of an encouragement for me to just keep doing what I’m always been doing and just working hard uh but you know you know uh I’m happy to know to be back and starting lineup and my job is to go out there and bring a lot of energy and just to just help us win games so yeah do you kind of feel like this is your time to you’ve waited a a long time to kind of maybe show what you can do do you feel like this is your time N I wouldn’t say that you know I’ve been here you know I’ve been playing for this team for four years and I feel like every other a year I take a step uh but it’s not about me showing and telling about my time no I feel like it’s just about my growth and you know I keep growing uh the more I keep growing the more they keep believing in me so I think that’s pretty much it were you um are you able to appreciate what Gary did to Anthony in the fourth quarter there Anthony was one of seven from the field two turnovers that caused that Gary caused I mean what was Gary doing out there and do you ever face Gary in practice I mean I I faced Gary for four years uh it’s not a it’s not an easy one to play around with uh he one of the best defender you know people don’t really talk about G as much but if you go out there and ask all this all stars uh First Option players from different teams how is Gary defense you know they’re going to tell you you know they’re not going to lie about it uh Gary’s a tough one to go against you know I mean we got great players you know they going to end up scoring but they going to work for for those points and Gary’s not Gary is very good at playing [Music] defense Jonathan uh I mentioned this to you a minute ago but just when Steph um gets in a Groove not not just with his shot but finding having a knack for finding the open guy or the hot hand I mean how how much fun is that I mean and and do you appreciate his ability to to keep doing that at such a high level finding finding the open guy or the guy who’s who’s on a on a role like buddy tonight was we all we all on this team you know not just players we all appreciate everything he does you know it makes uh everybody life easier uh you know and I’m always appreciative you know I let him know uh you know I love playing with Steve you know and he’s a very smart player um if he sees you gone you know he going he going to keep fitting you he going to find you he going to let you you know he going to let you go out there and be you know and play the way supposed to be playing and if you see something that ain’t going right he going to talk to you in the right way but know we all appreciate what he brings you know what he no he helps all of us he makes our life easier and one one quick thing on on buddy hee um Gary was up here a few minutes ago and he said that when buddy walks into a room or into the gym or or film whatever it is and he says what’s up guys and he’s smiling it’s just lifts the spirit of the whole he he brights up the room you know um B very funny he’s very funny and he’s a really good person like his personality is is great you know um I never seen anybody mad he always no matter if his night his night or his night you know he’s still smiling still bringing jokes around so bad is a great person I never seen him mad what kind of example is that for for perspective I mean you know he might be in a shooting slump but he’s still the same guy you know every every time what is that example for for young guys to see him like that I mean people are different but B is a great example to follow you know not every day is your na uh you know there is always ups and down but within ups and down you just got to stay positive you know and I feel like bad is one of those guys to look up to step what did you think of Dr ‘s night night celebration I didn’t I saw at the very end of it I didn’t know he did it uh all the way down the court let’s just say his is a little bit more aggressive than mine and I like it I like it you got you make it your own you and you and aunt had a moment at the end of the game what what was that discussion like what has it been like going up against some past two games with this baseball Series hey he’s tough man he’s he can do everything on the court he’s shooting the ball at a high level now he’s got that dog in him pun attending Georgia um and he just loves hooping so I got to feel that energy all summer and what he brought to Team USA and you know he tossed trash you know he’s in every moment and he’s a guy that you know the League’s in great hands for the next 15 years with him just being uh who he is so the competition is great especially at the stage of your career you want you know to appreciate the young guys who are elevating their game and coming into their own obviously wanted to come back and win this game um and compete as well hey Steph the uh the analytics say that you and Gary work well as when you’re together on the court can you talk about a little bit of what why that why it works why you guys work so well together and if that was a something that you guys have developed over the year or just kind of an automatic thing that you’re in sync we’ developed that since year was 2021 season where he’s such a unique player because he can guard on the ball he puts so much pressure as a point of attack Defender and he also just has a strong IQ for where to be on offense he gets to his spots quickly he gets we run a lot of pick and roll with me and him at times where he’s you know rolling in the pocket getting downhill and he knows how to move the ball quick set great screens just make the next play so he has a a great feel and he’s shown that for the whole time he’s been here the two different sense and you know he’s a big part of our championship year especially that start that we had that gave us some great momentum and he’s he just has a way to figure it out and the last whatever five minutes of tonight he played well all game but that last five minutes just trying to give Anthony Edward as much hell as possible that’s that’s who he is what was he doing to Anthony to what what was he doing to Edwards that he’s strapping up that’s what we call it he was he a can still make shots of him but he was just trying to make it tough and that’s what great Defenders do Steph for for years we’ve heard um Steve CT talk about the word joy and playing with joy and um Gary was up here a few minutes ago talking about when buddy walks into a room wherever it is into the gym and says hello to you guys and he’s got that smile and how the whole place changes um what kind of impact has that made on you just to see him if it’s if he’s shooting well or not it doesn’t matter he’s the same guy and and and what kind of example can that be for for younger players to see him so even Keel and happy no there’s nothing even Keel about him he’s he is all extreme Happy Joy talking all the time um and you love that energy because he he loves the game he works he he probably puts more hours in the gym than I think I’ve ever seen anybody and the consistency of his approach um he does bring joy to the locker room to the plane to you no matter where we’re at you’re going to hear him and I think he like you said he lifts everybody up cuz got a great sense of humor and he’s been around the block and you know the funniest part you just can’t get him shut up so you just uh you app appreciate everything he brings I meant more in terms of even kill I meant he probably he doesn’t get so super down if he if he has a rough night right I mean he stays with that that smile and that yeah he stays with that smile for sure I know like the work that he puts in I I heard him say he won’t leave the gym until it feels good so for that whether he’s in you know having a rough stretch or whatever he’s gonna put more time in to get himself out of it and that’s the commitment to what he does his attitude doesn’t change for sure so do going to let the uh the results affect him as much as um it could he’s almost to 2003s and he knows what that might mean to kids back in Bahamas cheering him on and he he hopes to not catch you but but come close I mean can you see him just keeping climbing that that three-point list no for sure that’s a lot of Threes between him and clay for the Bahamas so it’s pretty it’s pretty soln Steph is going to Houston for the uh NBA cup feel like going there for the Western Conference Finals not really but there’s still a appreciation for A Moment Like A buildup for a game then we all want to get to Vegas for sure so we going to give everything we got to it um but a little different context than than uh the playoffs I love how you answer that seriously that’s pretty good than uh when when when you’ve spaced in the floor fourth quarter you got JK attacking you attacking You Shooter spaced out uh how how close to you know what you guys should be doing at the end of games does it feel like that’s what you want for fourth quarters I think we adjusted well from last game to have a little bit more clarity on what we were trying to do obviously shots have to go in win buddy was huge for us tonight JK in the second half was huge for us um but just having organization on how we’re trying to create shots who has the ball in our hands like you said where everybody is space to make the puzzle pieces fit it’s one game and we have to adjust to how Houston’s going to guard us and it could look a little different but as simp we have to make the game as simple as possible um when we get in trouble the chaos creates confusion and then you start turning the ball over and that affects morale the other team feasts off of that and the momentum swings quickly we controlled every POS I threw one turnover at the beginning of the fourth and then I don’t know how many I didn’t feel like we had any after that because we were just organized and whether you make a Miss shots it keeps everybody engaged and doesn’t give the you know the other team any real life um because you’re not giving them easy easy buckets on the other end feing off turnovers you’ve been around Gary now for a few years are you able to feel how much he enjoys the challenge of going against going against Elite scores like tonight against ant who was one of seven in the fourth quarter yeah I mean that’s he he he’s adopted that identity from you know Oregon State to the G League to to here where he understands that’s the value he brings to an NBA team and a winning team my favorite part of like him is he’ll be on the bike and we need a defensive lineup and he Sprints to the we call him the wrestler he comes out of the the tunnel Sprints to the check in and he’s going to go find who the best scorer is that’s pretty clear role and so he he loves it he he Embraces it and more nights than not it he uh he performs at a high level in that role so you weren’t surprised when ant got up with 937 left that Gary also got up and checked in at the same time that’s that’s good you know chess match McDaniels did the same thing for me and you have those type of matchups where you know the other team’s like hey you got him try to stay on him don’t switch like we’ll have your help in the in in the back it’s the NBA like good offense always beats good defense but he just his job was just to make it hard and embrace the uh the challenge every night what did you think of the Draymond uh driving and dunk to finish and the the elongated celebration after that was we needed that moment I know he needed that moment it was he played amazing all night typical Draymond type of game where you look at the stat if you didn’t watch the game you look at the stat sheet you’d probably be like ho home but if you watch the game you understand his impact and then to finish fin it off like that U me setting the screen switching rolls me setting the screen for him him getting up dunking it and getting the crowd going and uh he didn’t ask me about using the night night beforehand so his his night to his night to shine that longer than you’ve ever done you did oh no I got I made it all the way down and all way back to the bench before I I think like in Orlando last year holding it for a long time hey hey Quincy aliver had his first uh NBA basket tonight when when does his signature shoot drop that’s fa say what that earns him a signature Shoe Right everybody’s getting signature shoes now n I’m happy to have him on the on the squad for sure um it’s a good timing right there I don’t know kick he hat on tonight I’m going to try to get him signed for me it’s the first bucket that’s pretty dope cool than
