welcome back to another episode of rock boys football deal what the last couple of weeks for this Michigan program on an all-time heater as Michigan fans you flip fstar quarterback Bryce Underwood you go and hang 50 on Northwestern you turn around in beat Ohio State wend like Michigan’s at its worst this is the worst Michigan team they’re going to see in a very long time that was probably the best Ohio State team that we’re going to see in a very long time you get that game done you turn around 24 hours later you land another fourstar defensive back couple of things kind of jump out one the momentum for this Michigan program going into signing day going into the transfer portal it’s at an all-time high like you can feel the gravitational pull to this Michigan program and you get Chiron Moore up in front of the cameras yesterday and say this is why you come to Michigan for moments like this I couldn’t think of a better pitch to come play my football in an arbor than that then I think secondly Lamar Morgan is doing a phenomenal job you talk about a home run hire Lamar Morgan looks like that you know you look at just the let’s just look at the Player Development that we’ve seen from Michigan you look at Zeke Barry who I I think is definitely most comfortable at that nickel spot was gonna be was a really good nickel all right well will Johnson goes down we’re really thin at the boundary quarterback SP Zeke bar you got to go play boundary quarterback does it add an extremely high level you look at a guy like Jer Hill clearly has taken that step from year one to year two you look at a guy like Amir Hall I mean he has come from Albany and FCS program and really put it together this unit played by far their best football against Ohio State on Saturday not giving up at the explosive plays like they did against an Ohio State team that has a ton of juice on the outside it doesn’t get much better than that and then you take a look at Lamar Morgan as a recruiter Jaden say ERS Elijah doson Kiona Winston Shamari ears now Jordan young that is five Blue Chip defensive backs coming to Michigan a lot of Buzz around this program now before we get into Jordan young just want to say to the Michigan fans that y’all know the boys have had a blast talk in this program the amount of support y’all have shown the fellas means the absolute world if you guys do enjoy the content where this program is going in terms of the momentum and Buzz that we’re seeing on the recruiting Trail and going into the transfer plier yeah I’m really happy for shron Moore because I feel like people are really quick to beat him up early on this season Gonna Last we got to get a new coach all that like again I think you’re seeing him bring the energy frankly they need and and at the end of the day like Jim Harbaugh is obviously awesome for Michigan but there did feel like an element that like he was an exact going to do what Shon Moore is doing in terms like really bringing this program into the modern era recruiting the way they need to being aggressive with nil all those things that like yeah the world’s changing a little bit I think you needed someone to jump in and embrace and and to me it’s not only just leaning into nil which they’re clearly doing and you need to do if you want to be a top team in the country it’s like maximum regardless of nil I think Michigan would recruit better under Chiron Moore you look at Chiron Moore you look at this Michigan program and say all right it’s a you you know the blue blood history behind this program you’re starting to see the Player Development you’re seeing backto backto back Big 10 championships and then a national championship you obviously have the academic side of things there’s so much pulled to Michigan there’s no reason that we look at and say we shouldn’t be recruiting as a top 10 team in the country and they Jim harball day you ain’t G to see me say a bad word about Jim but it wasn’t necessarily going the way you kind of expected on the recruiting trail and I think chirom Moore steps in says Hey th this program can recruit at another level because yeah is obviously part of it to an extent but even just revamping like the recruiting department and how much resources being funneled into it how aggressive I think shron Moore is personally with all these guys like again I’m sure he has a huge hand in Babel huge huge hand in Bryce Underwood has all those reports kind of come out in terms of his like aggressiveness and kind of mending that relationship that would seem to be a little bit broken from the Harbaugh era so you see him actively being involved in it probably more so than harbal he’s kind of the guy that’s like the type coach I think you need Super energetic I think he’s just a good football coach at the end of the day like you saw what he did in terms of building that offensive line culture over the four years he was kind of running that room really really impressive I can’t can’t be more excited for the shown yeah and like what’s happening with tal it’s not I mean we’re five minutes in we haven’t even touched on Jordan young so I apologize for that I’ll give you my because I remember breaking down Jordan Young when he committed to Clemson D Jordan young to me is such a good fit in this Michigan defense there’s a couple of things I like about Jordan young one he’s really versatile you’ll see him play boundary quarterback you’ll see him play safety now I think he’s going to be a safety potentially a nickel when he gets to Michigan that versatility is going to be huge and having that backround ASB back as well look when you’re playing in the wink marale defense like we’re going to be sending these backers and we’re going to be playing some man coverage behind it you need your safeties to be able to hold up in man coverage Jordan young because of that background as a quarterback can do so and that I think my favorite aspect about Jordan young really good athlete the ball skills are incredible now he’s a two-way player at the high school ranks quite frankly the high school film of him as a wide receiver kind of intrigu me as well you see you see a lot of young DBS come to the college football level when they just specialize as a defensive back at the high school ranks they struggle to play the football in the air like they might be in the hit pocket they might be in perfect position but when that football’s in the a getting your head around and playing the football is a problem Jordan young doesn’t have that problem because he’s a wide receiver as well at the high school ranks when that football’s in the air he’s big he’s long he’s physical knows how to make it at the catch point for those reasons I think not only Jordan young a really good football player but a really good fit in this Michigan defense and you know versatility is at a premium with the wink marale defense you almost see it I mean you probably say the similar things about doson a guy who plays both in high school really good wide receiver big longer athletic guy who probably doesn’t exactly have a position carved out like Shamari earol you kind of know he’s gonna be a boundary Corner that much who he is but you look you got guys now coming in who and you just like that nickel safety role like you need to be able to do it both at the end of the day like I was like watching CLE Barnes at Clemson for what it’s worth like playing both of those positions and doing them both at a high level being able to play with the ball skills Working Man coverage like when you’re going to play that nickel safety role I think you need to be able to do it both do them both how about mcari pagee like kind of a career safety like coming up and playing the nickel for Michigan against Ohio State and doing a damn good job of it too like it’s it’s important like to have these chess pieces there and I think that’s a really good point you make like Michigan kind of valuing that versatility like Jordan young like he’s listed as an athlete going to be defensive back but could play multiple positions you probably say the same thing about a guy like Elijah doson who I think he could end up just being a wide receiver for Michigan at some point down the road but another guy that can do a lot of different things in the back end you take a look at Michigan’s class in 2025 it’s obviously headlined by Bryce Underwood top 10 class in the country deal I think what excites you the most it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon now we’ve talked about drik Meadows we talked about guys like Bradley gomers or Nathaniel wub boating guy that’s a kind of new name to monitor if you’re a Michigan fan is five star offensive tackle Tai Haywood now you already have five star Andrew babala committed if you get Tai Haywood in the boat like two blue chip five star offensive tackles coming in that’s going to be big and what’s the big news coming out with Tai Haywood he’s been committed to Alabama since July hasn’t really taken any visits hasn’t really shown any interest in other any school other than Alabama Michigan comes in late what do we hear the news is he’s not going to sign with Alabama in the early signing that he’s not going to be an early and rolly period he’s going to sign in February which gives Michigan some time to get him on campus and get really kind of dig your teeth in to this relationship as well and the idea of him not signing that’s telling you the doors open for Michigan to go make a move and again give Michigan that door opening and they’re gonna take advantage so I think Tai with another name to monitor down the stretch probably put the two best or arguably two of the better Recruiters on that staff with Grant Newman Tron more yeah I mean they’re gonna be probably the leaders honestly I’d imagine shron Moore like he took kind of control of that babalola recruitment I’m sure he’s kind of gonna be the lead guy on T Tai Haywood and I like your chances with shr Mo because you kind of see him win that type of battle with babalola a battle that Michigan frankly hadn’t won in a while like you sh MO is like taking a personal with some of these top guys Andrew babala obviously Bryce Underwood when sh Moore wants you he’s not going to leave it to the position coach he’s going to turn it up himself and again you all know schro Moore is an elite recruiter whens coaching offensive line for the last couple years too he’s always been that guy we’ll see if Michigan can get it done it’s going to be a really fun next couple of weeks for Michigan it normally Michigan doesn’t get too active you know in the transfer portal on the recruiting Trail it just feels like a little bit of a different different era for
