[Music] all right this just in breaking news we’re starting to get a feel for what the Bowl matchups are going to look like they’re being announced Fast and Furious uh here we go Iowa State Miami they are going to get down on December 28th uh in Orlando so that is your bowl your Pop-Tarts Bowl wooo by the way I personally I like the uh I like the blueberry with the frosting on top just saying anyway I stay in Miami so that is Big 12 runnerup Iowa State lost to Arizona State had they won they would have made the playoffs and Miami who was sort of first team out in the ACC so it’s first team out ACCC against first team out Big 12 all right Brandon Marcel jumping in love having him in here um you know let’s just start kind of a broad sort of canvas here Iowa State Miami poptarts Bowl you say what well I’ll say this Iowa state has struggled all year against teams that are very athletic on the edges UCF who they ended up beating and then of course we saw it the this past week in the Big 12 championship game against Arizona State this is a very bad matchup for Iowa State’s defense in my opinion something that could be a blowout potentially but there might be a great equalizer here and that is are any Miami players going to opt out of this game and prepare for the NFL draft or maybe even yeah that’s yeah it’s exactly what I was that’s where I was going to go next like I mean you’re saying it perfectly like are we gonna it’s it’s great if they if if Miami’s playing their guys but now this is the new world we live in like is Cam Ward going to play what is sort of the Miami like philosophy when it comes to their future pros and first round picks especially skill position guys playing in these games that’s where I would like love to get a hold of some of these nil contracts like do you include in there hey you’ve got to play in the bowl game to get the full value of your contract or we’re going to docky this amount of pay in the end it probably doesn’t really matter for these kids they’re trying to get bigger Pay Days in the NFL especially a guy like cam Ward um this is going to be interesting to watch because Iowa State a very veteran team got that have been playing there for several years so they’re not going to have a lot of opt outs you wouldn’t think so this could be a game that played in the regular season Miami wins by three or four touchdowns but then you play in the ball game it might end up being a low-scoring affair in the 20s that Iowa state has a chance all right we will stay uh posted for that um two teams that had better years than a lot of people thought they were going to have they’re going to face off in the Citrus that’ll also be in Orlando but that’ll be on New Year’s Eve and is Illinois in South Carolina so this is Big 10 SEC what do you thinking when you see the Ali ey and the Gamecock in Orlando New Year’s Eve well I’m thinking of two Gamers at quarterback lud malm for Illinois and then obviously L noris sers at L noris sers at South Carolina who has just been on a tear here during this incredible winning streak for South Carolina I give the edge here to Carolina because they’re on the hot streak I think they’re not just hungry but they’re really peeved off for being left out of the playoff they really felt like they along after beating rival Clemson on the road just a week and a half ago also Clemson is something that kind of awoken something there in South Carolina beating them made them help go maybe we got a chance next year to be a playoff team and not just that but maybe win the SEC that South Carolina team they’re going to be able to hold things together when it comes portal time when that opens up and they’re going to be wanting to prove something hang into the off season that they’re worthy of maybe being a top 15 or top 10 team in the preseason polls I love that momentum angle that you just gave me uh with uh South Carolina there um and then finally boy this one this is unusual when I see this one this is number 23 Colorado and number 17 BYU they’ll play in the Alamo in San Antonio December 28th here’s the interesting thing they are in the same conference this is a conference game in the bowl game now they didn’t play in the regular season because you know the Big 12 has two teams in it so not everybody can play everybody but this is two teams who are both Big 12 teams playing against each other but whenever you have Colorado it becomes interesting were you surprised that this became uh you know essentially a big 12 off at the Elmo Bowl not necessarily and this is something that’s left over from the Pack 12 they have some Pack 12 Legacy Bowl tie-ins still that they have to honor over the next couple years so if you just left the Pack 12 and enter the Big 12 you potentially could land in one of these bowls so that’s where we’re at and this being a regional matchup just made a lot of sense for the B Bowl people then also this is an incredible match up my opinion BYU’s defense against shador Sanders and Co in that bowl game and what I really love about this bowl game we’re talking about maybe Miami players opting out for their bowl game I don’t expect Colorado players shador Sanders Travis Hunter to sit out this game Deion Sanders has already said these guys are going to play in the bowl game he said that a couple weeks ago and I can’t wait to see that as much as we see teams and these guys kind of being selfish and opting out the the people who have had a Target on their back shador Sanders and Travis Hunter All Season being ridiculed and criticized it looks like they’re going to end up playing in this game and good for them and good for us for college football because I think this is a tremendous matchup as I just mentioned that offense against BYU’s defense which has been pretty good this season yeah going to be fun certainly going to be fun there he is well done uh Brandon Marcelo uh giv football playoff bracket earning that seven seed the right to host Indiana we were hoping for this matchup guys and we officially got it let’s take a look at where this kind of lands in the bracket I think our friend Josh Pate was uh calling these regions but this is why Notre Dame earned a spot in this college football playoff that win- loss record 11 and one and here is where they land in the bracket for the right to face number to Georgia in the Sugar Bowl we have broken down this bracket from so many angles but I want to zero in on this Notre Dame team obviously been a bit of a difference from what happened in that second game of the season to Northern Illinois what has this Notre Dame team done to prove that they deserve a spot in this playoff since then well I’ll say this immediately this has been the best coaching job by Marcus Freeman and the staff since they’ve been there getting them to regroup and refocus after a debilitating loss in week two as you said something that could have really just changed the makeup of the team in their demeanor and what did they do they instead came out and just started beating the crud out of everybody blowing people out they were refocused and for the first time in a long time I can remember no one was talking about Notre Dame they kind of flew under the national radar All Season everybody’s going well their schedule’s so easy they’re just going to cruise in and then we’ll find out when they go to USC on the road at the end of the season so everybody just wasn’t really paying attention but meanwhile Notre Dame I would argue is playing about as good as anybody including Oregon at this point in the season and the big thing for them is getting to host Indiana because right now Notre Dame they went across country to USC and I thought you know maybe this could be an upset for them maybe something could happen here but man I love the grit I think somebody that agree with you on them playing their best football right now is the head coach of Notre day Marcus Freeman joining us on the show Coach if you think back to week two unless you try try and uh remove that from your memory I mean most of the country wrote you off from there but your team responded what are you most proud of this season I think you there are some things that um you learned from that loss that that has truly helped us uh as we’ve gone through on this journey uh this season but you know I’m most proud of them to be able to stay focused and and really focus on the the opportunity at hand and uh this team has constantly strived to improve each week um obviously we didn’t get the outcome we it week two but I I truly believe this team has continuously gotten better and uh been able to block out the the noise no matter what that noise may have been it could have been after a loss of Northern Illinois or as you get closer to the end of the season you know the play the playoffs are approaching so really plowed the the leadership and the ability to just focus on the things that matter I I think we get caught up so much in just you know the roster makeup and if you have a talented roster it should just work right but you guys bring in Riley Leonard he’s coming off a surgery where he missed some time the off season what about the opportunity for teams to improve that’s what I look at you guys and you guys had injuries to both T you know left tackles losing that before the A&M game you had defensive injuries throughout the season how much has your team improved and how much different are they from week one almost even more than the Northern Illinois game to where they are now yeah I think that that depth is so important as you’ve said we’ve had multiple um Game ending injuries or season ending injuries in and uh you know the team is is really had a next man up mentality and uh that that is credit to the depth and the guys we brought in here over the past few years in terms of recruiting but um we have improved and we have truly improved from week one to uh week 12 and I think what happened week one is that maybe the outcome uh kind of clouded some of the mistakes that we made we weren’t as good as of a team that we needed to be or maybe we thought we were and uh you know week to it showed and so but we we constantly improved um the players and the coaches were very intentional on doing the things that it takes to to be the best version of ourselves and uh here we are we sit at 11 and one you Coach Riley Leonard to me is just a gamer we saw it at Texas A&M earlier in the season what do you think he’s grown the most here throughout this winning streak you’ve been on yeah I think his leadership in the way [Music] [Music] fore fore [Music] fore fore speech foreign speech foree [Music] foree spee foree foree speech speech speech foreign
