blah blah blah this Carolina team had three wins this was an n team the Eagles did not play well through stretches of the game and they win it says right here 22-6 they’ve won nine straight they’ve tied the franchise record for consecutive wins they’re 11 and two and that’s the bottom line period end of story what happens next week when Pittsburgh comes in and the remaining games of the schedule will unfold as it will but for today they are winners yet again and Jeffrey L’s got to be happy he’s Grim face Don molinsky face but they got to be happy with a W because that’s the bottom line in the NFL they this kid Bryce young I told you born in Winwood PA at lanol hospital and went moved out to California but this kid played very very well he was tough to bring down and tough to defend noobe Dean tried like heck to do it and he was running all over the field against them you look at this Eagles team and what they did defensively they had a difficult time they had a difficult time with this Carolina offense at various points in the game and they were hard pressed to stop them but 16 points allowed I’ll take that any day of the week in an NFL game and the defense was in his face Bryce Young’s face and he would Escape guys guy is amazing um and then you look at the Eagles offense Jaylen Herz saquan Barkley of course he’s another story of this game as he eclipses lesea McCoy sets the franchise record for a single season yards run and he’s going to get way more than that as he goes for Eric Dickerson’s record will likely get that as well Devonte Smith nice job gets a touchdown catch when you look at this game bringing in Barrett Brooks Ron jorski and Ruben Frank as you look at the guys walk off when you look at this one Barrett and you take that exhale what do you think about this game what comes to mind I mean it the the rookie played I mean um the seconde quarterback played well he ran around was making plays I mean they were so close to sacking him he just found a way to get through and sometimes those things happen just thinking you know this team uh you know it’s not as though they weren’t there to make the play they were there to make the play you just got to complete the play and they didn’t complete a lot of plays out there they left a lot of meat on the bone and uh you know this the first time in a long time I’ve seen this defense in a position to to to to Really you know grab them and and and take control they just didn’t execute at the end you know they they didn’t finish the plays Zak Pawn six tackles five assists uh 11 combined tackles with a sack and a tackle for loss Jaws when you look at this this was like here comes Cooper Dee this was the first game that I thought the defense struggled to wrap guys up and tackle and stop them right then first time all season long I saw our defensive line get pushed around a little bit coming off the ball 34 rushes 118 yards but let’s get real about this thing Xavier Legette a catch that would have put Carolina in a lead with seconds to go so thank you zavier we appreciate that you can’t let that happen a lot of lot of negative things happened on that last Drive do we find a way to win a lot of coaching points for this coaching have to work on this week with Pittsburgh coming to town you didn’t like that defensive play call right there either Jo I did not like defensive play call that’s a blitz I love Big B what he does that was high risk yeah there was no reward on that one Reuben you look at the fourth and eight and what the Eagles did really what Nick serani elected to do with was to punt the ball to the three yd line as opposed to go for it two yd line eight um how can you trust Jake Elli to make a 54 y when he’s 0 for five from 50 yards and out if he misses that they get the ball almost at Midfield with all the momentum in the world I think your best chance to win this game maybe it was a three-point game your best chance to win this game is punt him down to the two which braen man did uh great job by Ivon Maddox Downing it at the two and and try to make him go 98 yards for a touchdown Which they almost did they didn’t quite do it so uh it tells you where they are with Jake Elliot right now because that’s a layup for him that’s I mean that’s 54 Y is a 70% kick for Jake Elliott um no kickers been 0 for five from 50 yards and out in a season since 1994 that’s where Jake Elliott is so the fact that he pted there took a delay and then punted uh is not a vote of confidence in the kicker you’re absolutely right on that I mean you looking at this he used to be our Ace you know he was the Ace in the back our back pocket and we could go out there and literally you know sit back and and have a drink because we knew he was going to go out there and kick that 50 yard field goal and he was going to make it at this point I mean we got to think you know I mean what’s going on I mean we got to we got to ask ourselves we may have to do a little thing you know re-evaluate our you know how we go out there and and approach these games they’re going to have to think about if they if if he’s the best guy to go into the playoffs with as and that’s bottom line you also missed an extra point that got waved off and they went for it which they felt was the best thing to do rather than just take the one point does the NFL have The Yips right now I mean everybody’s missing Tu K the NFL Barett the NFL’s 72% from 50 yards and out this year and he’s 0 for five wow so it’s not a good situation what would you if you’re hoe Roseman what is your plan for the field goal kicker position this guy has been a stud for you this guy’s helped you win Super Bowl championship and get back there he’s got the team record what 61 162 yard field goal which is a franchise record do do they cast him aside or do they stick with him because they made that decision today based upon his inability to hit from distance you who’s out there you’re not going to find anybody M million his contract he’s your guy he’s getting paid he’s got to be the guy they just got to figure out what’s going on with him and and get it fixed really fast I’m more concerned we had to hang on hang on against the Carolina Panthers we were two touchdown favorites in the game had to hang on to win a game but I always look for that silver lining and I think there is a silver lining now we say we won the game there’s a lot of coaching points that could be made after this game nine straight wins you love it but now you know what those players know it right now they dodged a bullet and so when they the coach St coaching up tomorrow they’re going to listen a little more intent because if they don’t the steers coming in town it’ll be a rough one I also thought that I I don’t think they were looking past them I didn’t sense they I thought they played hard they didn’t play particularly well all the time Carol just played really really well in a lot they play out of their mind of phases I I did not like the way Carolina’s offensive line was kind of bullying us a little bit on our they were they were moving us back watch they gain three four yards moving us backward it was not a good day for either line for the Eagles my key my key to the game was make sure we get CH uh uh CH hubard we calm him down stop him alleviate him being you know their their offense and you saw that he was their offense and make this this uh Panthers offense be one you know one-sided make them throw the ball well we couldn’t stop Chev hub yeah that’s why Ruben you say they played hard maybe they did play hard I don’t think they played well I don’t think they played well and that’s on them how many times did they have Bryce young nailed I mean they could have have four or five sacks on him he escaped he and he’s a great talent I’m not saying he’s not but you got to hold a guy down the same with Thelen getting away the same with Cooper Dee missing tackles Zack Bond was great today he had very little of that but there were guys that since coming out of the bye when they weren’t wrapping up we saw a lot of that today and I I can only think uh it’s the three win Carolina Panthers and human nature is with human nature is I didn’t say that it didn’t feel like that to me it just felt like they were they were you thought they get 40 it was I was I was wrong a lot of people thought they were going to blow them out I just thought Carolina played better than I thought they were capable of playing and to me it wasn’t the Eagles lowering their level it was the the Panthers raising their level I think that’s you’re absolutely right I mean that’s the biggest thing this Carolina pan team played above their expectations they played out of their mind today and I mean sometimes you get that you know you have a team that you know been taken on the chin the entire season and now they’re saying you know what we’re going to go out to show the big guys on the Block that we’re a team we’re getting better this is the you know tail end of the season we want to show you hey next year we going to make some things happen we’re going to start off with you being our first victim and Bot bottom line is the Eagles made the plays they had to make on a couple crucial fourth downs and that’s what all I mean that’s that’s what they had to do and last year they don’t win this game last year they don’t find a way to finish and I thought Jaylen had a uneven game you know I’m looking at just watching TV replays I thought there were some play plays where he had people open wasn’t pulling a trigger on him but when the game was and needed to be won he made plays with his legs to win the football game he made some great scrambles out the pocket when I thought he was going down so Jaylen may not have his best passing day but he could be with his legs as well and the two touchdowns were his two best plays two best throws of the day they were both beautiful throws but he missed AJ on the slant he going have to throw the out to to Devonte so so that’s why some of his detractors and I do not consider myself one but some of his detractors say this guy is lacking the proper field presence this guy throws to the wrong receivers this guy fails to see open receivers that he should see certainly that Ron jorski would have seen I would say that well I would and and that he does not have the field he’s got the presence he doesn’t have the field awareness you talk about his he took was an8 yard sack Reuben at the end of the game why he he just gave himself up I agree I also think the o line didn’t have its best day and I’d rather him take a sack to throw the ball and put In Harm’s Way and get picked off he was 14 for 21 throw it away Reuben I I don’t I’m not disagreeing I’m not saying he was perfect he also threw two touchdowns scored another one and did some good things yeah I mean he did some goodal first downs I’m looking for more 35 y I agree with they’re not asking him to do a whole lot but we’re going to need more to beat the elevated teams they’ve been beating him I mean he’s been I’m not arguing that point but Pittsburgh’s coming in and one turnover in 10 games that’s beautiful thing uh we got Nick serani come up we have jayen Herz coming up we have the new single season rushing record holder saquan Barkley coming up we’ll hear from The Defenders as well what happened today in a struggle against the Carolina Panthers they were 12 and 1 half 13-point favorites were the Eagles and 2216 is your final score we all picked them big not just you rubbe we all picked them big and right from the start I thought this is not this is not going to go as smoothly as we all thought it was going to go certainly as smoothly as the odds makers thought it was going to go this first quarter stuff’s got to stop well scoring no points in the first quarter offensively we we got to devise a better game plan to play some of these games with with a bigger lead coming out of the box I thought there was team in the NFL in the first quarter total I thought there wasn’t enough saquan early I thought and I think Kell’s done a great job this year but I just thought the the offense didn’t have any rhythm didn’t have any feel early um I think saquin had one carry on the first two drives they were behind the sticks a little bit Lane had a had a penalty um there was a sack but uh they just never kind of got into that Rhythm that I thought they would get into really quickly saquan Barkley had 20 carries for 124 yards he averaged 6.2 yards every should had 30 carries in this game so and and St so so if you if you’re trying to imagine what their thought process was on giving him that number of carries what would you say because that’s what I thought this is the among the worst rushing defenses in the NL the worst you know the worst let’s not nitpick here but they were the worst okay at least at least statistically coming in this game I mean you know when we talk about like that first sack what they had they ran a um protection where that backside guard once he pulled by when Dickerson ran by the play ran by the linebacker he saw the linebacker flash inside to him but that’s really not his guy what they did was they double team the front side and one of those guys either the guard or the tackle supposed to come off and get that linebacker that’s why he didn’t get it and he went to go get who who he had on the outside he had to get that man outside secure him so I understand that sack that’s a sack where you know a protection broke down but then after that you know just just a little things you know I mean you just can’t um we we need more pocket presents by our quarterback and we just need to dominate somebody up front you know you got to take over and say hey I’m not having this anymore you know we got to go out there and protect Jaylen I I I thought we didn’t do that efficiently and effectively every single play like we have uh past games agree and back to saquan Barkley nine carries in the first half for 49 yards that’s 5.4 yards per carry so the guy’s tote in the football he’s doing great and they only have him carry it nine times it made no sense maybe we’ll hear from Kellen Moore as well but I don’t think so Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday uh let’s take a look at on the Run presented by Duncan America runs on Duncan and saquan Barkley just runs and runs and runs he sure does he is now with 1,623 yards the season single season rushing record holder ahead of lesea McCoy ahead of Wilbert Montgomery jaws’s former teammate Ricky Waters and Wilbert did a nice job in 1981 as well so today 20 carries 124 rushing yards which is right about he’s actually averaging 24.9 per game so he’s right about on it with his 20 carries why he didn’t get 25 why he didn’t get 30 against the worst rushing D in the NFL we’ll have to find out from Nick serani but that was a frustration when they just could have pounded him all day long up and and you know that’s that’s B especially when things weren’t weren really falling the way they were supposed to fall you can always alow with physical brand of football hitting somebody in the mouth you know you can rely on that at any point and I really feel as though they could have relied on it this game and really move those guys out the way but instead we started you know throwing when we’re not supposed to be throwing you know I mean well I didn’t think we were supposed to be throwing just go just go beat some people up you know let you know let that offensive line come off the ball hit guys in the mouth if you’re a player on the Philadelphia Eagles and you’ve all you both played in games like this are you strutting your stuff and saying hey man a wins a win or you say we got some stuff to work on no no you say we got to win that’s where it starts that’s the bottom line you want to win the football game you know then hey you you know maybe you have a toast tonight when you Gob dinner or something or a glass of wine you start thinking okay hey you know we we we we won the game but really wasn’t our aame you know we we can’t beat the really finer team this leag consistently we’ve beaten some really good teams along the stretcher but we can’t beat the Pittsburgh Steelers we can’t beat you know team we’ll see in the playoffs playing the way we played today so they they’ll come to work tomorrow a little bit with a different mindset I think they normally would the way they’ve been playing so sometimes he gives the coaches an opportunity with that clicker in their hand start coaching guys up a little bit and they start paying a little more attention they start getting their butt shoot out there baring some of those meetings they coach will get their attention when they start coaching them up because it was a win but it was not a pretty performance Ruben did Carolina come up with any kind of game plan that is usable by teams the Eagles are going to see over the LA next you know four five games there’s anything because 22-6 is not what we’ve seen from these Eagles in a win which is now nine straight it’s interesting though because like the Browns game was similar close game it shouldn’t have been the Jacksonville game was close it shouldn’t have been uh so maybe there is something to kind of play down to the the opponent it hasn’t seemed like it but um I I just like these guys were saying I just think Carolina was more physical for much of this game and that’s look this team Prides itself on physicality and it’s it’s been a Hallmark on both sides of the ball all year uh it just wasn’t there for some reason today and and I’m not quite sure why that was I think some of that had to do with just how elusive uh Bryce young is and uh not having a read blankin ship is huge too I mean he’s a very physical player Sydney Brown uh cdy Brown wouldn’t have been playing on defense but you didn’t have CJ out there for a while he was banged up uh so you had a real Patchwork you had Avante out there for a while you had Tristan McCollum uh you I me you had a real Patchwork secondary and I think that might have been part of it Reed blanking chip is a big part of what they do defensively missed him a lot hard hitter take a look at the playoff picture as it exists right now with games ending a games that matter to the Eagles playoff future and there they are the birds the NFC East leaders 11-2 still chasing the Detroit Lions and there’s Minnesota also 11-2 so there are a lot of things that will have to play out over the next four weeks and thank goodness the Eagles have three of the remaining four games at home at the LAN by the way I think they played better on the road they’re undefeated right undefeated on Lost Tampa they lost in Tampa right uh but other other than that Mrs Lincoln pretty good they only loss away from the link so when you look at this playoff picture chances and there was a chance that the Eagles could clinch uh the division or a playoff birth excuse me today depending on what happened with about five different games or so it seemed but uh chances that they get that the division and the top seed they’re going to get the division I I I I know you want to you know get me to go in that direction right now but I I I can’t right now cuz I’m thinking about we’re playing the Pittsburgh Steelers next week you know do we have enough to stop Russell Wilson George Pickins uh Na um n Harris do we have enough to stop those guys uh you know on on the defensive side of the ball and then you know look on the offensive side of the ball can we stop TJ watt Cameron Haywood uh Patrick Queen Alex heith do we have enough to stop those guys cuz you’re talking about a tough physical team coming in this is a team that’s going to get our measuring ride on all right you have a big offensive line you got some Hogs up there that going to come off the rock well we have some guys we have some dudes on that side of the ball and you know I think we can but they got to know they can so I want to see do they know that they can beat up on the Steelers team you know this is going to be a physical game next week we we thought going into this game it was going to be as you were saying pretty much all last couple weeks the eag way the eagle way it’s going to be physical physical physical for 50 years the Pittsburgh Steelers have been the Steeler way it’s not going to be a finesse football game yep it’s not going to be so you start double chin strapping right now you goes because it’s going to be that kind of game next week I know we’re going to critique this game but next week that’s a big one against the Steelers we cannot afford to lose another game so I’m hate to spin forward to next week rather than celebrate his victory today but that’s what you got to get ready for next week the double chin strap game because it’s going to be violent it’s going to be physical against the Steelers Steelers beat the Browns today Steelers are 10 and three and you you know after last week that l Line in the Sand before today the Eagles thumped up on Baltimore Baltimore had taken care of Pittsburgh it’s what all the national pundits wanted to see are they really that good and they proved it to everybody yes they were and I think again human nature being what it is you want them to play well they failed to play well but they won the game so uh we got a we have an interview who is the m johon c Gardner Johnson had an interception which set up a score for the birds here he is in the locker room um great team win uh that’s a physical team um for everybody want to know that’s one of those those was one of those games where you can’t underestimate those type of teams Bryce is a great quarterback great team uh Adam was out there competing from Isaiah Leed defense play great on that side uh it’s all about about details and fundamentals um we going out there and finishing the game I know y remember week was it week two three those type of games cousin bro broke down and won the game uh we just had to lock in and win the game that’s how I feel you think you think you did take them lightly um no we just just a good team I mean in NFL to they understand what it takes to come in here and win they wi wi they’re pretty playing pretty good on the night no hot streaks so we got to understand got to just be us and do what we do to win the game how you feeling physically what six years and I feel great I’m ready to keep it going what happened when you at the end there it looked like you’re back was man and uh the pain of a winner I guess I’m good I’ll just get through it see see it on Monday was was Joe trying to take you off the field I’m not coming on the field he got to kill me got kill me was that yeah he trying to he trying to take me out he trying to take me out but it’s like I said when you when you want to win and just play hard for your guys I think just going out there and just showing them that I still got it in me regardless of how I’m feeling just it feeds off everybody else everybody else keep trying to play and in a game like this without Reed already did you kind of feel like he really had to back out there um Tristan does a good job Andre Sam was activated this week we was all prepared it’s just playing for each other understanding that we’re there uh with him being down just showed that we still be a dominant Force you know and we were definitely missing him right now we definitely can’t wait for him to get back but right now we got to take our luns with injuries and continue to play the offense was in a situation there uh they could have kicked the field goal that decided to punt one score game put your put your hands in the put your hands in the best defense um that’s what Nick always you guys hear the sound bites just put your put your trust in us uh don’t matter what situation in the game we learned from week two all the way to now just continue to play football and understand who we are and and uphold that identity last Drive what approach on that last Drive everything in front of you and just know he’s a great quarterback uh improviser he know how to extend the play just understand you got plaster and stand your guy and don’t give him no open looks and he was pretty he was fine on the day on his on his scrambles but last Drive hold your breath let’s play ball hold your breath let’s play ball you not Tak off the field you got to kill me take me off the that guy says CJ GJ by the way Bryce young 19 of 34 191 he was sacked once at a touchdown long pass of 31 yards his passer rating was 69.6 that is not all pro that is not great let’s let’s just make that clear
