[Music] how much how do you to measure your excitement about Andrew knowing that he might not be somebody he was Avail to in the year but later on how how how are you balancing that as a manager um it’s pretty tough because he’s got great stuff I you know I saw him in the Arizona fall league I only saw three Innings but it was really high level stuff but um you know you’re always a little bit worried about a setback but uh so far so good he’s throwing the ball great his command was really good so I’m I’m really excited I really am what do you think it might look like a spr training um yeah we haven’t really discussed that but I I would think so but I mean we’re going to ramp him up pretty slowly because he’s only got so many innings that can deal with over the course of the summer and we want to make sure that um you know we’re getting the bulk of it he’s got to be healthy and pitching well but hopefully you know he’s at that point whenever that is and and we get him and we just roll is there a favorite for that number five spot right now as of today you might sign something expect you probably sign somebody at some point internal somebody a leg up well it’s really up in the air but you know I’m I’m hoping that the program that Taiwan is on works and he gains that velocity he gains the extra stuff that he needs to to miss bats and get soft contact and um I know he’s working at it um and I I know that the program is a good program and it’s worked in the past so hopefully it hopefully it happens off mention October yeah I’ve thought of of a couple of different things but really until we solidify it or really come up with solid ideas going to know what the ball Club looks like you know cuz there could be some changes you never know we we’re looking to to um improve on the edges and and that can change some things the Dodgers had aani hit lead off and Met’s hador would you ever have Bryce hit lead off I mean he’s done it in the past that you know I’ve thought about that too but you know that’s something that uh that would be a long conversation I would think um I’m not sure if Bryce would be willing to go there but I think you know the more bats you get for the best hitters the better chance you have you know that’s really the theory behind it um and he gets more bats to get into the Hall of thing do you think he’d be open to two possibly I I haven’t really discussed any of it with him so um again I’m I’m just waiting to see what the final roster looks like and then we can sort of start breaking it down last year this time we were talking about left field and center field and the needs are the same as they are now maros this year we’re talking about left field and center field in your mind is the situation similar to what it was a year ago or are you looking at it and saying they they might those two guys might be good for one of the spots the other how how do you view how different it is from this year I think it’s very similar the way it was last year I really do you know and I know some of you were in the room yesterday as Dave said you know you look at our offense you look at those last four games and certain games throughout the season it really looks bad cuz you’re chasing you’re swinging and missing but over the course of the year we were top five in a lot of offensive category so you know I I really like our offense I really like our club we’re still a good club we did not play well in the playoffs um but we’re we’re a really good club no I’ll do those in you know face to face in person um but right now he’s working out he’s down in Clear Water he’s working out every day he’s in great shape feels good so we’ll just have to cross that bridge when we get there da pardon I don’t know how he’s going to react um but I I think still you’re you’re you’re going to play out the season how you see it how you feel how he’s feeling uh the conversations you have with him the communication he has you know is he fresh does he feel fresh and he’s usually fairly honest or Dave made a point yesterday to mention JT and saying oh he feels great down there he’s working out hard was he not 100 I know he had the knee surgery but was he not 100% through the end and you feel like he was lacking something oh I don’t think so no I don’t think so I think it’s more just fatigue over the you know the course of the year and the injury and the whole thing but he’s he’s uh he’s 100% and how do you back situation going in Spring I think it’s it’s between stubby and marshan you know marshan doesn’t have any options left so um at this point they’ll battle it out you T the offse yeah so it’s the same thing we worked on uh during the season last year uh I texted with him a few days ago he’s down on uh playing in the Dominican um and I think there’s some slight uh improvements but it’s it’s really just cutting down the swing um eliminating some smothering ground ball try to get the ball in the air a little bit um and use the entire field have good at bats improve the Bunning short game you can do that he’s he’s going to help the club you uhen so much there I know spin a little bit Yeah know I happen to I we’ve texted but I I talked to him on the phone yesterday and he’s in Houston right now he’s working out he just got a workout place that he goes to every year um so he’s been there for I think about a month he’s going to go home for he’s going to go to clear water for Christmas then back to Houston and then back to clear water for in training but uh he’s in good shape he’s working hard lifting and and he’s actually hitting already um but I just I just wanted to let him know that you know we we’re not this guy’s a really good player and we’re not shopping him but because he’s a good player there’s a whole lot of interest in him from other teams so obviously you have to do your homework and and and talk to people and listen you reached out to him yes just because so much out yeah I just I just like you this probably the first time he’s ever gone through something like this so I just want to ease his mind and you know again it’s it’s part of the business that you got to you got to get through and because it’s the first time I I thought it was important to to reach out what do you think his mind mindset is in regards to there’s a lot made uping yeah immature or grow up or what would you say I don’t I don’t know where that comes from but he is an emotional guy um he cares a great deal and so he shows emotion believe me he’s not the only one on the club that shows her emotion and you know slams a helmet or a bat every once in a while so um but that just shows me he cares were you involved last year when you guys met youngo last year you part that yes did you get a sense because the Phillies have never signed a player from Japan like whether that was a factor in all of these things like um a player who comes over from Japan and like maybe had questions about Philly that he might not have about cities where guys he knows have played no I I I didn’t get a sense of that I didn’t but I I do know that you know the west coast is a lot shorter trip to Japan so it makes it easier on the player but I did not get a sense that it was the city or the East Coast or anything like that work with anybody yeah so Marsh Marsh is there uh Cal Stevenson’s there um we’re going to go see Trey in January um cuz I have to go to Florida for something so I said why don’t you come along we’ll go see Trey and and watch them work a little bit um but he’s in constant contact and rafy rafy pay is down with with roas right now in Dominican so you spoken to Romano yet it’s Romano Romo that’s how in Canada that’s how we pronounce it it’s Romano um yeah I spoke to him yesterday um I met him at CBP one time we were it was a getaway day and we were getting on the elevator and he haded be on there I think he’s really excited and we’re excited as well because it’s when he’s healthy it’s a really good arm Big Arm um he’s pitched in high high leverage which we like and and uh we’ll we’ll treat him the same here um like you said yesterday to the our local group um we haven’t promised him the closing role we’ll probably run our Bullpen like we have the last couple years we’ve had a lot of success with it and I think everybody’s I think everybody’s pretty happy with that
