long-term success so usus Kikuchi needs to slide down a couple spots SO pitching has to be the primary focus could the Angels come out of nowhere off the top rope and RKO the rest of MLB and steel Corbin Burns I think it’s unlikely highly unlikely but uh I am uh I am interested to see if the angels can grab some more starting pitching that is a primary area of focus and your Outfield is in an interesting situation because according to according to Fang grabs they have Ward trout and Adele with um with solaric DH and I believe trout needs to DH to keep him on the field I I want to limit the opportunities for him to get hurt so I would like him to D but grabbing Solair soler’s got to go to a corner if that’s going to be the case and Solair has to move to a corner Outfield spot and you’re still looking for a center fielder unless you feel pretty good about Mickey mononc taking that spot every day so we’ll see what they do with Ward I would like to see them focus on pitching if they right let’s get this thing started the trade wins ruled Wednesday the biggest news was the Garrett crochet Trade four prospects to top 100 prospects it’s what you got to do to get Chris gets to bite and it is exactly what the Red Sox did and it got them an Ace and as I said when we went live we had about a 15minute window to go live and in that period of time one of my main talking points was that this is awesome for Boston but it can’t stop here they need more this needs to be a one we need a onew punch here this is the one we need the two maybe some of you believe that tedor H can be the two okay well then we need a 2B a one 2A 2B punch there needs to be something else and since that trade went down there has been more talk about Walker buer there has been uh and we’ll dig into this talk about a Seattle Trade that could be looming here here’s the deal it appears that Boston is striking out in the free agent Market again so if you’re not able to make hay on that side of the fence go impact a trade market and that’s what they did for Garrett crochet that is what they are likely going to be doing for Seattle which leads you to believe maybe Boston one of the one of the thought of final three teams or or top three teams for Corbin Burns is pivoting away and saying without saying it we’re out we’re out we’re bringing in Walker buer we’re talking to Seattle we’ve already brought in Garrett crochet so good job by Boston going out and getting their race controlling what they can control if Pro far an option if Chase don’t sign t or Tony Samuel yes he certainly would be some ground on a Cody Bellinger trade what does that mean about a Kyle Tucker trade everybody The Dominoes and how they fall let’s let that sort of get us into some of the yeah Jim did some show prep uh let’s get that let’s get into the Kyle Tucker conversation Kyle Tucker will lead us up do you like how he went from the full everyone’s cut everyone’s full bright down to Tucker you like you like that every now and then every now and then so we have Kyle Tucker is going to be our lead story here because this whole Kyle Tucker thing over the last 24 to 48 hours that bowl got rolling and that ball got out of control to the point now where it is I mean are we all in agreement this is this is kind of expected at this point two days ago Monday when the winter meetings really got going when everyone’s together all the flights are in everyone got in on Sunday now we’re rocking and rolling if you had told me that Kyle Tucker by the end of the winter meetings would be a hot trade commodity I would have said well hold on a second let’s just think about this let’s think logically about this well logic can go to hell let’s just dive into one of the biggest names the guy who will be with him and vlat the two top free agents next off season what if you can get a Kyle Tucker done and you get that extension done I think the extension is going to be a tough task both Kyle Tucker and Vladimir Guerrero Jr are seeing what happened with Wan sto and just seeing how beneficial it is to be out in the open market and the latest on Kyle Tucker as it pertains to the Yankees from Jack Curry Jack Curry again we said it last night is one of our guiding lights through this off season of of craziness yesterday he shot down the Nolan ronado thing he shot down the Alex bregman thing brought us to some Christian Walker feelings that feelings those feelings things may be maybe cooling on the Christian Walker front but you know that can happen over you know 24-hour period according to Jack Curry he believes that the Yankees are going to try very hard to execute this and we had Joel Sherman earlier today in the New York Post talking about the Yankees being one of the most if not the most aggressive team for Kyle Tucker after a day before where it was sort of just presented that the Astros would listen and it has progressed to the point where sounds like trade talk is hot and heavy for Kyle Tucker so this is as far as the Yankees go and the Yankees if we get a deal I don’t have it saved here but I’m sure you’ve all heard it at this point one of the pieces the Astros want back would be Luis heel in the Joel Sherman piece in the New York Post he talked about how the uh the the the Astros would be looking for starting pitching and uh Corner infield right that that can help right now the New York Yankees obviously have a piece that the Astros are very interested in and that is Lis heel and that would be a great great get for Houston if they can pull that off because you have some more years with heel forber Valdez could be walking out the door after next year and you’re you’re talking about trying to extend the life of this competition this this window to compete and getting young players with years of control for players that are entering their final year is the way to do it we’ll see if the Yankees can pull this off if you start thinking about values here heel is a pitcher heel has multiple years of control yes Kyle Tucker is a incredible player is probably looking at a floor of $450 million in the free age at Market next year but as you try to pull off the trade don’t think that it would be heel for Tucker there would have to be more but from the Yankees perspective they probably wouldn’t want there to be more and do they want to deal Lis heel would they rather would they feel more comfortable if they were dealing Clark Schmidt or digging into the prospect tab of the trade folder and going for somebody like will Warren do the Astros have any interest in matching the value with three or four players or do they want this done with two players Max and if they do then they’re going to be looking for those significant pieces back from the New York Yankees but with the latest news from John Haymon from Darius Glover the Bellinger movement again this was for per John Heyman this was tweeted by Darius Glover band sent it to me Yankees and cubs made a bit of progress on a Bellinger trade on Wednesday is that an indication of how this is going you put it together how you feel comfortable when it comes to going to the next step we have the Cubs starting to feel like maybe they could maybe they could be the winners of a Kyle Tucker sweep Stakes let’s see here Darius clever this is another one uh Cubs asked the Yankees to take on nearly the full 52 million o to Bellinger which obviously wasn’t happening so that contract very likely could kill could absolutely kill a Cody Bellinger trade to anybody if the Yankees aren’t going to take it on I I don’t know who would Yankees have money to spend and they’re like no no don’t think so so Cody Binger might still be a cub he may be playing with Kyle Tucker again this is from this is a tweet from John Heyman the Astros want Luis heel in a package for Tucker and the discussion with the Cubs involves SE Suzuki and esak parades this according to Joel Sherman this according to Ken Rosenthal I’m curious about that now look they these guys know more than I do so we’ll we’ll roll with it but I’m curious if that gets it done look there was talk about Tristan and we’re going to talk about this there was talk about Tristan casus for Luis Castillo earlier today that has since been shot down which I maybe everybody didn’t see it coming but I saw that coming from a mile away that the values there don’t match up uh Luis Castillo Tristan Casa similar number of years of control but Tristan Casa is in arbitration Luis Castillo is owed $24 million uh Tristan Costas is the position player no Castillo is the pitcher and pitching carries a premium but when you’ve got the $24 million attached and Luis Castillo is only getting older and Tristan casses is still really young you you see how doesn’t really work uh Seattle would actually have to add to the trade to get Tristan casus um why did I even go down that road I want to stay focused on here we’ll get to the Louis Caso thing I just totally went down a road that I been meaning to like hold hold on and talk about in a minute so Suzuki and parades if we are looking at values again Suzuki’s got some money attached to him do the Astros want that money do they want to take that I mean Suzuki has been nice and Suzuki has has in my opinion um you know since he’s coming to the league he he he keeps getting a a better year in and year out is that but do they want to take that money on and ESO parades that’s pretty solid uh but ESO parades is uh when when you’re looking at values pretty damn close to what some could value Kyle Tucker at so are you able to work this deal out you send SE Suzuki and his contract and ESO parades for Kyle Tucker but we’re not getting uh we’re not getting the pitching that it was also reported by Joel Sherman that the Astros are looking for and if we are already with say Suzuki and isach parades we’re kind of getting to the point where the values are matching so the pitching that is going to be involved isn’t going to be significant and if it is significant it tips the scales too far to one side and specifically the Houston side and that shoots the deal down there is a way to do it there is most definitely a way to do it again it it really gets down to does Houston want to get this deal done match the values with two guys or do they want to match the value with three or four guys and are they determined for it to be corner infielder and pitching Chris get was determined to get position players only for Garrett crochet and that’s what he got from Boston that was reported a couple of weeks ago did a whole video on it where we ran through G crochet potential trades and we only use position players we were not allowed to use pitchers in that video because of the report that crochet one or the white sock only wanted position players so if you are determined that this is this is what we got to have then is what you got to have Tucker to the Cubs would be a huge get you just got to you got to watch what you give up because again I do not think a I do not think a extension can be counted on here can can you agree can you agree with the that uh let’s see Trevor I don’t think they’re going to deal seya the Cubs have those younger arms like Wix Assad Brown Etc to offer alongside parades and bat prospects so when we do that we might have to pull parades off the board and and and and pivot to a different infield option here because the values for parades if you add in any of the pitchers that you just mentioned this will never F junor since Angels wants mother hitter but remember to his dad used to play for Angel so we’ll see we’ll see what they do Trevor I mean again there is a way to dip into the the uh the farm system the top of the farm system and when I say top of the farm system farm system pieces that are that are close uh let me see what the what the what’s the Super Chat Jonathan thank you and also ever happened but what if Vlad Jr since the Angels want another hitter remember his dad used to play for the Angels connecting vlat to the angels uh it’s not going to happen I again I am a firm believer especially if the Blue Jays are trying to get Corbin burns the Blue Jays are not going to trade Vladimir Guerrero Jr vlat will most certainly I I’m 90% positive that Vladimir Guerrero Jr will go into the free agent Market that the Blue Jays will be unable to get an extension done between in spring training so the angels can be in on vlat next year and correct me if I’m wrong the Anthony randone atrocity I believe there will be one more year left of that Ry Marino can eat that he’s known and very comfortable giving out big dollar contracts it just has to have an appealing place to come and play and if the angels are starting to take the steps look guys we’ve kind of been over the last couple of years in a mode where there have been some teams that have been really crappy they’ve they’ve kind of been the laughing stock and that doesn’t last forever eventually that that that flip switches and things change and the Athletics are trying to change that the angels have been aggressive they are trying to change that so let’s see what happens the angels what they’re doing this off season a lot of the young Talent they have coming up if they make a splash to next off season the Angels could be very relevant again right now they’re they’re easy to poke fun at because of already Moreno and Angels I’m not trying to poke fun at your franchise I dislike your owner and I would think we could at least agree on that if we don’t then I don’t know where the common ground is at that point but I I I I could see the Angels going for vat next off season 100% with that with with that did I say ronado earlier why do I feel like I said ronado rendone with that randone contract coming off the books a year down the road you could very easily do that Vladimir Guerrero Jr contract no doubt about it um and if it’s going to be by if if the angels are going to go to $500 million and everybody else is at 4425 vlat would take that uh a 20% over what ever anybody else is willing to pay any you got to take it so we’ll see we’ll see lobby I haven’t seen it I just see this this screenshot here he’s in his he’s in his hotel room anyway moving on from that the whole line of thought talking about how Corbin Burns it’s close and he could sign today and what drove this what really sort of pushed this in the favor of the Toronto Blue Jays was the Garrett crochet trade the fact that Garrett crochet the Boston Red Sox were linked to Burns it gives you the impression that they’re sort of out and there are also now uh there are some reports confirming and and you should all know this too but what I’ve been talking about that the Boston Red Sox are guny hesitant to Dole out long-term contracts to starting pitchers what the Yankees do for Max freed the Red Sox don’t what to do the Red Sox John Henry has been burned I’ve been saying this for weeks I think it’s sort of coming to light a little bit more strongly today but they have been burned by the Chris Sale contract and the David Price contract they have no interest in going down that road again and that is why you’re seeing this trade that is why you’re seeing them miss out on on on on uh Max freed Now Blake Snell did not sign an 8-year contract but I think Blake Snell probably wanted to go to the Dodgers at the end of the day so the Boston Red Sox pivoting to gett crochet kind of feels like okay Boston’s out and there’s been a lot of up and down when it comes to San Francisco about are they in are they out is it getting to be too much money are they going to look somewhere else are they H happy with what they’ve got depending on where you’re reading and what you’re reading and who it’s from um it’s all over the place what is going on with Corbin Burns right now but for a stretch of time today Blue Jays fans had a little bit of life and a whole lot of Hope because it felt like if the deals comeing today and Boston is now out because they traded for crochet and Mark fand is saying according to sources two teams expected to be most aggressive on burns or the Blue Jays and the Giants with Toronto considered the favorite coming from the fingertips of Mark fand through your computer through your screen and right in your face oh man here we go uh I I I I I applaud uh the Blue Jays YouTube channels that went live today to do a Corbin Burns watch you got to do it if you’re seeing this if the Red Sox make the move they make and Ken Rosenthal is saying that a deal could happen today you got to do the watch I could I would have been here for it I couldn’t I this day oh this day this day I’ll just say uh it was a good day it was a busy day let’s just put it that way so you had to do the watch Blue Jays today and that other one uh is it Jay’s Journal I’m blanking on the name of it we’re doing their live watches the the uh Nick and Adam were crushing it you had to be there because whether it goes down or even if it doesn’t go down if he if a deal is announced that he’s going somewhere else you got to be there for the reaction you got to be there for the buildup and it looked like maybe today could be the day and I guess today could still be the day it is is 9:58 p.m. deals can still happen but a lot of time has passed now since it felt like we were getting close and and and we don’t have anything going on will it be Toronto that’s that’s a Beau an amazing question is is Toronto uh a leverage piece in here is it legit I mean we’re talking about uh what does how does how does he put it he puts it as uh the Blue Jays are according to sources he doesn’t say if the sources are Executives or people familiar with the matter or he doesn’t really frame where the sources are coming from here um but for the Blue Jays to be considered the favorite for Corbin Burns is interesting now that would make that rotation that rotation next year and the year after the two more years you got with Gosman you got Corbin Burns Jose BOS has locked up for a while you’ve got uh Bowen Francis who has stepped up you have other pieces that could work into the equation it would be an amazing rotation again we would we would we would get to the point where the Blue Jays could be considered to have a rotation that can lead you deep into a playoff run but what they are missing is the ability to score runs and that’s what needs to be addressed I this I’ll be excited if we get Corbin Burns to the Toronto Blue Jays I will come on here and I will be the The Joy will be will be be beaming off of my face I will be a complete Blue Jays Homer for that live stream um it will be the complete opposite of the version of Jim that you saw after the trade yesterday where I was a little cranky um this would be great but there is still a major issue here and that is the ability to score runs and I would really love for them to go out there and it was brought up earlier profar profar could be an option if they don’t get tar they don’t get Anthony santand there there has to be a bat and maybe we get all the way down to where it’s a jack Peterson conversation something needs to happen they need to go out there and get at least one legitimate bat with the elephant in the room the Vladimir Guerrero Jr bashet entering into their walk years does that impact is corbman Burns if he’s got the blue jays and the Giants right in front of him the dollars are similar who’s he going to choose let’s take Boston out of it again Boston I don’t think they’re going to go to the they’re not going to go the years they they traded for crochet if we’re if if Corbin Burns has Toronto and San Francisco on the table in front of him where is he going I hate to say it but it feels like it would lean more towards San Francisco San Francisco we we kind of know more about their future with with Logan web uh Matt Chapman uh with a lot of young arbit early arbitration guys talented guys that are on the rise they have San Francisco a clearer picture about where they’re headed over the next three four five years than the Blue Jays do so if the dollars are the same I feel like what’s up elephant good to see you man I feel like you would pick San Francisco but hey uh maybe there’s a plan a plan in place Burns is privy to it I am not they sign let’s see I do think the the Red Sox and bregman that could work I do think that could work I don’t think the Yankees stand a chance not not that they don’t stand a chance but I don’t think it I don’t think it works I don’t think it I don’t think it happens uh and then there’s the Astros so give me the Red Sox and Astros as the finalist for bregman there I just thought I think the Yankees are not it’s not a factor it is maybe being used as leverage I love that defense behind him though in Toronto bone good point very good point the best defense in the American League by team defense team defense Gold Glove two years running going for a third back to back to back team gold gloves yeah no no doubt about it and he would love to pitch uh to in front of that defense could have a a career year could have a career year with the Toronto Blue Jays I just I want to bat God that’s all that that’s my thing again San Francisco feels like they are ready to Snuff out and crash the blue jay party here that it just I I feel like it’s it’s almost inevitable but that’s me being angs what if Corbin wants the Angels cuz he’s wants to be on the west coast then the Angels should Pony up and pay him at some point let’s say Corbin Burns is going to get a seven or eighty year deal which I think is very likely right in that seven to eight year window the angels will find their way back into a competitive uh situation there’s a lot of good young talent that is that is rising through the ranks here uh Netto and shanell and ohappy are really good uh Taylor Ward Taylor Ward has just has been taking some steps and could have a monster year and if they hold on to him and they extend him and they make a big free agent Splash next year the Angels could be competitive sooner rather than later and if you’re Corbin Burns and you see that coming you sign a 78-year deal let’s go uh thank you for the super chats John Angels could do it all right Luis Castillo who here or who even was here a couple of weeks ago when I started talking about Luis Castillo as a potential trade Chip and who thought Jim was nuts um and again I want to give credit this is the Chad from the touching basis podcast he planted the seed in my head so I cannot take credit for it but I’ve been running around I heard it and I ran with it that’s where I got the idea from credit where credit is due Seattle fan because every I think everybody we we we had been hearing all of the rumors that the Mariners in their attempt to improve the bats would deal from their pitching stable and what we’re hearing more now is that the the Mariners don’t want to deal the pitching that they have under control the young pitching that they have under control they have Castillo under control but it is for a lot of money $24 million a year for the next three years and then there is a fourth year which I believe is a vesting option that could turn into a player option and if it doesn’t vest then it becomes a club option I have to take a look at it again but with Luis casti you can see it they they need Luis Castillo carries value could bring a bat back to help the team the problem was today we get some Luis Castillo rumors and some talk but it’s just it’s a Miss uh Adam Jude here uh Adam Jude and Ryan divish both Seattle guys reporting that the Mariners of Red Sox are in talks this was 5:32 EAS East Coast time so this was about 3 hours 3 hours after the gar crochet trade not before therefore maybe negating it no this is after Boston’s been persistent in his pursuit of one of Seattle starters and a Lis Castillo for Tristan Cass deal seemed to make sense for each side I believe there was talk was it a day or two ago it was casus for Miller or woo I hate to say it the value is not there in this scenario for casus to go one for one uh Miller and woo with the years of control uh and just how good they are it doesn’t balance the Red Sox would have to send more now in this scenario Castillo for casses because of the Castillo contract Seattle would have to send more so it doesn’t work uh there has to be uh there there has to be less headed to Seattle and quite frankly if you’re Boston I keep saying this I want Tristan casus if if I’m a Boston fan I don’t want to trade Tristan casus I want to keep him he has proven that he can not just hang at the Major League level but excel at the major league level I don’t want to trade that I now look I just traded four prospects two top 100 prospects but I got like six or seven top 100 prospects so I want to dip into the prospect pool here’s the problem Seattle doesn’t want a prospect that’s two or three years away so we got to find something that works here and one of the problems Seattle has is uh will I will or Bru seems like he’s gone uh masaki Yoshida seems like he’s gone but the problem is that the Seattle Mariners still have Mitch hanigar and Mitch hanigar is making a lot of money and as far as the rest of the Outfield goes that’s full too they they they signed the extension for Victor robbles you you got Julio and you’ve got Randy the outfield’s full so will I Oru carries a value of zero to the Seattle Mariners trying to find the trade partnership here is going to be a challenge because masaki Yoshida we’re not going to trade for masaki Yoshida in his contract so that he platoons with Mitch hanar and we we’re not in the kind of financial situation where we can just send Mitch hanar away uh and DFA him and and pay him even though he’s not here he there too much money we can’t do it got to hope that Mitch hanigar comes on back and you know is revitalized and has a bounce back year that’s what we need so this is difficult to work out I’ll say that uh but if Seattle look if you’re Seattle I think what you need to do is you just need to Pony up here send you understand what you’re doing send a prospect with Luis Castillo to Boston and get the deal done not saying you’re going to have to send a incredible maybe send some money that’s the thing if Seattle send some money now part of moving Luis Castillo and not the other guys is that you’re trying to get rid of the money but let’s say you you send I don’t know 25% of the remaining salary for Luis Castillo to Boston to get this deal done you add a midlevel prospect you’re a lot closer to getting deal done that’s how that’s how it happens Castillo for casses straight up one for one while it makes sense in the terms of we’re getting a top of the rotation arm and we’re getting a a top of the rotation arm for Boston and we’re getting a first baseman for Seattle the problem is the money the problem is the years the problem is one’s a pitcher one’s a position player the value we got to even this out and to even it out Seattle actually has to send something with Castillo uh Brian the Seattle is never sending money which could kill the deal think about it this way I believe it’s $24 million a year right what if you sent the equivalent of $5 million you got $19 million off your books a year with Lis Castillo just by sending 15 million bucks to Boston and it helps with your trade values it helps get you closer to the Finish Line you add a prospect in and I’m not talking about a top prospect you you you can you can get the deal done that way otherwise it’s kind of challenging to try to find I’ve done it it is it is challenging to try to find the trade here to get a ready win now position player for Luis Castillo it’s a it’s it’s it’s it’s actually kind of challenging as somebody that spends a lot of time considering trades proposing trades hypothesizing looking it up and moving it around it’s challenging you know a lot of the position players you can go and get they’re all division Rivals and and sometimes the timing doesn’t work up yeah you know if you’re if you’re trying to get uh some of these bats that are available they they want prospects back they don’t want Luis Castillo and teams that are trying to trade for Luis Castillo are probably in win now mode so they’re not really trying to give up any other win now everyday pieces and there are some scenarios where there’re is an opportunity like that but then you get to well does this fit does this work we know Philly will give up Alec B Philly doesn’t need Luis Castillo though we know Boston will give up Yoshida or reu but Seattle doesn’t need a Bru so it’s kind available unless I’m unless I’m blanking on anybody um GI orella is the top free agent third baseman after Alex bregman unless I’m forgetting somebody and if we’re thinking about the trade market the top third basement available is Alec B after that Brett batty so that’s the situation we’re in Nolan arado thank you but Nolan Al ronado the Houston Astros are not going to take on Nolan alado’s contract I for I I don’t even think about Nolan arado because I don’t think I don’t think Nolan ronado is going anywhere quite frankly Yan Manata I do I am aware of yan makata but I have Ella higher than makot when I’m thinking about top the top available Gio orella I think makata is after Gio orella what’s up Jesse hope you’re doing well so when it come after bregman you just think about third Tristan cases but you have to if you’re Seattle you have to actually include something else you have to include money or at least a little bit of money in a prospect you if you want to get a bat like casus who would be a great addition to that team and you move on from bear is a f to the mats Tay to the Yanks polar bear as an F to the Mets I’m not sure what you mean Raven what what wait you’re Justin Turner oh man Seattle fans if you get Justin Turner is it is it Riot time literally if if Seattle is like all right we’re gonna we’re gonna hitch our wagon to Justin Turner for a full year um maybe there are some Seattle fans that would be happy about that but based on where the sort of bar is being placed I think that would be very disappointing that’s what’s going on with Seattle uh Christian Walker would be a very good fit but the dollars are going to be too much uh Ryan divis suggests the Mariners have approximately 15 million to 17 million left to spend this winter so there’s not enough money for Walker there’s not enough money for pazo this is why again depoto don’t screw this up think about it guys think about this if you’re Seattle you could trade Luis Castillo and send what’s that 24 million trade Luis Castillo include a mid-level prospect and also throw in uh $4 million a year $12 million total for the three guaranteed remaining years for Luis Castillo uh to get that money off the books that would clear $2 million off the books 20 million so if you have 15 to 17 million to play with now all of a sudden even though you’re eating some of that uh Castillo contract you still have now 35 to 37 million to play with and Tristan casus is still in pre-arbitration so he’s cheap incredibly cheap if he’s the return piece that gives you the money to go out and do something else I just feel like there’s something to be done there let’s see we’ll see if they do any of it uh let’s see Mets willing to pay down the salary to facilitate Starling Marte trade I this off season paying full market value they got teoscar Hernandez on a deal if Anthony sandir finds himself where his Market collapses and there’s a deal to be had then I think the Dodgers would get on get in on Anthony santand there but straight up to play to pay market value I don’t I don’t see him doing it so last year we had the ballpark rate was down to the Home Run rate so the power of the slug would be down slightly in Washington not to the same degree that it would be if he went to Detroit or Kansas City or God Baltimore he would be completely Zapped of his power in Baltimore that season for them so look if you go get Kyle Tucker even better uh if you go get Cody Bellinger okay fine but Christian Walker Hassan Kim Gio orella Jaz Chism moves to center field and I know GI orella is not an exciting attractive piece can you get a trade for Alec B if you can do that do that juicy Messiah says the Yankees are in panic mode they’re in pivot mode uh we gotta be careful don’t poke uh they have to get a big win uh I think there’s other guys there on as well but Toronto to me seems like a team that might be motivated to try to get Corbin Burns yeah I mean I think you got the exact Two Front Runners I I’ve heard there were five teams still in on burns uh and I I certainly believe that is’s an ace pitcher outstanding I agree with you above freed even as good as freed is with a 140 ra plus eighth best all time Burns is just so durable and you don’t see durable Aces out there on the market so I mean he’s going to do better how much better I’m not sure but I think you got the right two teams Toronto and San Francisco those are two teams that have had trouble luring Stars keep in mind he is a Californian you know Buster POS he did meet with Scott Boris last night it’s a sign does it mean he’s going there for sure not definitely but it’s a sign so Toronto Blue Jays I I just I don’t know I’m skeptical that they would that that they would drop that kind of money on a player not named Otani and a player not named Soo I know Burns is awesome and pitches like Burns don’t always come available but I’m skeptical that they would spend that money because if they spent that money they are committing themselves to salary cap penalties and all that I don’t know I’d love to be wrong I would love for them to reallocate the sto dollars and go bring Corbin burns on board and sign T Oscar Hernandez sign me up for it I would love those two live streams but now the Blue Jays on top of all the other Financial Obligations they have taken on Andres jimenez’s contract which I think was a mistake uh I don’t I don’t see the reason to do that okay great he’s he’s he’s very good defensively you know there are a lot of people talking about Andre Jimenez as a leadoff hitter he’s not a lead off hitter um in Cleveland’s lineup last year uh he hit second a lot second the most but outside of hitting second uh he also hit sixth a lot and uh then then kind of sprinkled around throughout the rest of the lineup and as the number two hitter as his most in the in the lineup uh position batted he scored like 64 runs and that’s with Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor hitting behind you said five teams are involved who Could That Be So he he doesn’t get on base and that so you can’t have him as a lead off you can’t have at the top of the lineup so he’s a bottom of the lineup Guy They’ll probably put him at the top of the lineup trying so hard to lock up something outside when they haven’t locked up their own it doesn’t make sense even said if valdi is locked up I’m in why would any go there with such an uncertain future so I I and and uh Mike you’re echoing or miles you’re echoing words I I have been saying now for a couple of weeks uh first Manet Heyman said five teams involved who could it be well he maybe eluding Boston still so if you have Toronto you have San Francisco you have Boston then you’re looking for two more I mean it Dodgers maybe um because Mets maybe he because what’s interesting is that he did not say who the teams were and I think the reason why he didn’t say who the teams were is because he probably didn’t want to start a firestorm because again it’s probably like the Dodgers and the Mets are two of the other teams and that would that would send the baseball uh Universe over Edge uh but miles you’re right I mean the dollars that they have been willing to allocate to Otani the dollars they have been willing to allocate to stto Vladimir Guerrero Jr has to be standing there thinking what the hell man what about me and when he is in free agency next year they’re going to have to dip into that fund that they were dipping into for the Otani and the sto dollars just to bring vlat back I’m with you I think it’s a it’s trouble and it also it’s got to be a hindrance uh or it’s got it’s definitely a negative on any of their selling points to these free agents that we’re talking about for long-term deals it’s a problem it’s a $4 million more for the next 10 years and take it to 805 that is why that deal that and I’m pretty sure the sign you got a signing bonus that gives them over $100 million this in this first 12 months if they get into a bidding war with Steve Cohen do you think they can win that I don’t it’s a different agent so it’s not going to be Scott Boris that represents Vladimir Guerrero Jr so so that’ll be a little bit different but how I I look and this isn’t even about it being my team and one of my guys I don’t believe if if Steve Cohen wants a player I don’t believe he be outbid by anybody so Vladimir Guerrero Jr is just going to get in the way of that next year he’s going to be the next guy up because the the Mets won’t be hard up for Kyle Tucker because they just got Juan stto they’ll be looking for a first baseman especially if Pete Alonzo walks and goes somewhere else they’ll be looking for a first baseman maybe Marc Vientos plays first base this year um or they do something the Carlos Santana or Paul gmid or somebody like that comes over but if you’re looking for the longterm and also with vlad’s age we already looked at this with vat’s age he’s probably if he were to take a argue needs a first baseman but do they have the money St Louis isn’t going to pay him Seattle doesn’t have the money for him the Yankees According to Jim Bowden and others it it just doesn’t seem like there’s any smoke to the Yankees right now he’d be too much money for the Reds too much money for the Brewers you can start drawing some gats connections there’s certainly you could draw some Houston connections but Houston right now is trying to bring bregman back and Pittsburgh just brought in Spencer Horwitz and Spencer Horwitz goingon to be the first baseman in Pittsburgh for for many years so think about the teams that I just listed there and and who’s the slam dunk fit that is going to be clamoring to get Pete Alonzo there really isn’t one it’s a lot of coulds it’s a lot of maybe it’s a lot of it’s some reaching right it’s it’s it’s like the Mets the Mets pet Alonzo needs the Mets the Mets kind of need P the Mets could use for the first Bas but do they need do they need Pete I get you know yes yes I would say they do the the Mets still if you brought Pete Alonzo back and you have that lineup you’ve got Lindor you’ve got stto you’ve got Pete Alonzo you’ve got an upand cominging Mark Vientos if he does what he did in the postseason again throughout the regular season You’re Building you’ve got something really good and without Pete Alonzo in there you’re you’re you’re running Brett batty back out there at third base and you move Mark ventos the first and does Brett batty have it and there’s question marks there he could he he could also not and you know Pete Alonzo in a down year is still going to be productive if Brett batty has a down year it’s a catastrophe it’s a it’s it is a Wasted Spot in the lineup I did see there was some talks Steve I did see can’t remember where I saw thought that uh that the A’s have had some interest and I did they even offer him a fouryear Deal saw something about four years uh mentioned with Alonzo and the A’s that would be a shocker truly would was that on was that Scoops might have been Scoops the could sign Walker for 3 years then the entos moves over afterwards it would be cheaper and not a far drop in production it could Christian Walker Christian Walker’s got a healthier Market than Alonzo does right now and it’s because it’s less years and maybe even a less aav um but at the end of the day the other the other equation does a team this is this also applies to the Yankees what’s looming Vladimir Guerrero Jr’s free agency is looming and vlady and Tucker are the two big pieces next off seon if you’re the Mets or the Yankees do you want to sign Pete Alonzo or Christian Walker Christian Walker is a little easier cuz he’s he’d be a shorter contract but do you want to sign Pete Alonzo that may prevent you from being in the Vladimir Guerrero Jr sweep Stakes next November think about that too I would be thinking about it if I was a front office guy I would be looking for somebody to bridge the gap do we have somebody internally that can get the job done we do good because I want to have money and I want to have a spot for vlat next year so we’ll see I’m check something here that is just not loading anymore this one this this computer might be tapping out this is the one that has to be plugged in or it dies in fact I thought it was dead a year ago revived it brought it back from the names have to come off the board the the big pieces have to be traed we kind of have to we we need to like get the the tier ones out of the way before we can really dig into the tier twos now that doesn’t mean that you won’t get some of those other deals to sign we saw Alex Cobb get a deal we saw Matthew boy get a deal there are opportunities where teams will try to pounce and get uh early get ahead start on tier two or tier three or tier four but for the most part for a market to really get going and percolate and and have a healthy number of teams I think you got to wait you kind of got to wait your turn you you got to get Burns has to come off the board and uh then flarity has to come off the board and manah has to come off the board uh Bueller’s got to come off the board once they’re off the board then we maybe start getting into Morton Verlander Sherer guys like that who Am I who am I forgetting Lance Lynn’s gonna want Lance Lynn wants to pitch next year Gotta Wait his turn Chris why are the Jays not rebuilding now reason they’re not rebuilding now is because you you still have you have vlat and bow you have a lot of money invested with gsman and BOS uh George Springer you can kind of attach the windows to compete to the uh the the high dollar the high aav contracts and the years that those contracts run and if you’ve got multiple of those that’s kind of that’s kind of your window because at that point the teams will have to decide do we want to cut bait or not the Blue Jays could find takers for Kevin Gosman they could find takers for Chris Basset and Jose BOS and vlat and Bo and and they won’t find anybody for Springer I don’t I don’t I I doubt that but one of the other elements to this is the fact that you know two the two faces of the franchises Bo and vlat are still there you make another run at it next year and then if it doesn’t happen then maybe you course correct next offseason but the Toronto Blue Jays just spent a lot of money on that Park upgrading it adding restaurants adding concessions adding so much to the experience to where if the team goes in the tank and nobody’s coming out to the park then Rogers made a horrible business decision so they from a business standpoint need to keep the fans interested and engaged and if you trade Vladimir Guerrero Jr you’re waving the flag to the to the fan base that this team’s going to suck we’re we’re we we’re not going to tell you we’re rebuilding but the era is this last era is ending and there’s a new one starting and now we can’t really promise much about what this new era is going to be not after they spent all that money upgrading the facility upgrading the up upgrading the the ballpark for that reason I can’t uh I don’t think that they feel like they could blow it up I feel like I mean that’s why that’s why they’re out there trying to sign Corbin Burns and Max freed and all these other guys to contracts that are more than five years because they probably look at this thing and they’re like we we got to keep we we have to keep competing uh this thing cannot come to an end we need another five six seven years of winning to keep people coming out we just this is this is this is a new ballpark we’ve spent a lot of money on it we can’t have people going away now the product on the field can’t go to garbage which is what would be happening if they trade flatty at least or it would would create the impression that’s what’s happening ticket sales would go down uh season tickets would get cancelled all that so that’s that’s another reason why I don’t think the Blue Jays blow it up that has been a popular narrative to to go out there uh since the Blue Jays really the middle of last year when it was obvious that it’s not going well there’s been a lot of talk about you know fire sales and trading bow and trading V and I have talked about trading Kevin Gosman because I feel like you need to you had needed to trade Kevin Gosman if you wanted to make other moves if you found a Kevin gsman trade that brought you a bat a significant bat in return um let’s say and that bats in arbitration Willams for Alec boom trade is possible if if that if that bat is in arbitration years then the dollars are low and it also frees up money to go and get another bat so I thought that if you traded Gman you could get essentially two bats that help you right now and I have been on the extend vlat trade bow train uh but again that is another kind of what Houston’s doing right now with Tucker and Valdez trying to help your team continue to compete right now and continue to compete for the long term what Houston’s doing is very difficult it’s very disruptive it’s painful Kyle Tucker and framber Valdez are available in the trade market because they understand that this thing could like we could be getting towards the end here the farm system is terrible we have some key pieces walking out the door next year does it sound familiar you probably think I’m still talking about the Blue Jays no that’s Houston you got aging Stars you got key pieces walking out the door and you have a terrible farm system the Blue Jays check all those boxes too the difference is the Astros are looking to turn two of their pieces that are walking next year into multiple assets that could help the team in other ways and for the future but the Toronto or no I think WRC plus it was something it was a small he had like the fewest amount of at bats of everybody else that was in the conversation but because it was a essentially a percentage driven stat Danny Jansen was at the top but he had the fewest amount of plate appearances and I ended up in an argument it’s one of the it’s one of the reasons why I don’t do a whole lot on Twitter anymore because it’s just nonsense half the time I come on here uh Brandon Brandon [ __ ] I think was the guy’s name who I wasn’t that the guy who broke the Springer deal spicy me but I I I yeah we are not we the second worst Ops from second base this year but the one I find more interesting is the Washington Nationals who have talked to him about potentially playing Third Base cuz they have Luis Garcia at second base and remember when the Yankees traded for jazz Chisum in July the initial ask was to glaber Torres to go play Third Base Gaber didn’t want to do it that’s how Jazz Chism ended up at third base okay I love when you say you can blame glaber for the fifth inning of the World Series uh casas’s value I believe is very high uh that’s why you can’t do Castillo straight up for him a casas’s value is is too high on that you have to think of for the Yankees what is life going to be like after Juan sto and there is no onetoone exchange for his back so they decided to get better at the top of the rotation with freed joining Cole and moving somebody like Carlos rhon down but it also created dth in their rotation right now the Yankees have seven veteran starters I think they’d very much like to trade Marcus strowman to get out of the 18 million they owe him next year but by having extra starters does somebody like Luis heel can they use him to go get Tucker the Astros very much like heel the Cubs have players the Astros like so there’s that into connectivity there the if Tucker ends up on the Cubs with the other team they’re even more likely to trade Cody Bellinger who’s kind of a cheat code for the Yankees who need help at first center and left well those are all positions Bellinger plays so the Yankees could get him comfortably and know where do we not get an answer we could put in the cheat code for that and Christian Walker’s a player they’ve talked to quite a bit but I sensed as they left the meetings that that had cooled a little bit uh remember he’s right-handed he’s mid-30s and they’ve already lost their second and fifth picks next year by signing a qualified offer free uh free agent in Max freed this is just uh it’s it’s called the TV app just uh Google that and this is what you get um one thing about Kyle Tucker all this Kyle Tucker trade talk is an extension while I think is unlikely you can’t rule it out completely because it’s not he
