good morning everybody appreciate you being here um you know it’s uh uh good to good to have come off homecoming uh with the victory there Saturday uh really proud of our guys um you know like I mentioned afterwards you going back and watching the film I thought they came out um you know I thought they gave you really good effort um you know had a real focus of trying to uh uh to correct some of the issues that we’ve had uh it was good to see um you know some guys that that uh you know rose up moments you know made plays um you were able to create a couple takeaways you had some explosive plays offensively um you know it it wasn’t all clean you know some things that we we definitely still get to uh to improve upon but I thought a lot of uh a lot of you know younger players uh really got got a chance to to go and uh U you know you saw the growth you saw the you saw the ability you saw them you have to have to work through the sequence of a game you know some good some bad um and I was just really pleased with uh how they responded throughout it and um you know it was a a good game for us and you know our guys uh you know you gave a gave us a little bit of a a positive as we’re heading into this week which is a absolutely huge week for us and it’s the last game of the uh 24 season it’s the last um you know opportunity that we have um and you know obviously it’s it’s against U you opponent which um you know is playing you know they’re playing you know their best football of the year and uh you know ultimately I mean when it comes down to this game I mean every every little bit matters and uh you know all that we’ve done all the uh uh you know all the work that’s been invested you know we’ve got to go be our best this week I’m excited about being here at home uh it’s senior day it’s a it’s an opportunity to to celebrate the careers of of a lot of guys that have poured so much into this program um and you know I mean this one is is an opportunity for us to go and and finish the season uh you on a on a positive note to and you know obviously I’m excited to see guys go and compete with uh with everything that they have and uh you know they’re um you know got off to a great start there last night with our practice and our preparation and you there’s definitely a continued sense of urgency for the Improvement that’s necessary uh you as we uh as as we got a huge game come Saturday night first question will be Brendon over here on your left after reevaluating film I what did you see from Luke and is it fair to assume that he’ll he’ll Remain the starter for this week yeah you know I was uh I was I was pleased with Luke you know he’s one of those guys that uh you I was kind of referencing of um you know as as the game went on you saw him really kind of settle in and you know I thought he did a good job of of uh you know you know I say relaxing but kind of letting the game come to him uh you know in some regards and uh you know to be able to have three touchdown passes to me lot made a lot of good decisions or some throws that he missed uh you some some you know parts of you different uh reads and progressions where I think he’s going to continue to even become that much more efficient um you know with you know around it but you know I thought he did a really nice job and you throughout the course of the game uh you my expectations is that you’ll probably be the same this week of you you you know giving him an opportunity to go out there and and continue to get better and you know I was I was pleased with uh with Brock I think we mentioned after the game kind of as as you know as we got into that Rhythm and you I thought Luke did a really nice job of uh you know you know creating the the explosives you know sustaining some drives had some big plays throughout and you I was really pleased when Brock got the opportunity to go in I mean let us on a touchdown drive you know made some really good decisions uh was on Rhythm on time uh you with his throws and I mean it was an impressive drive for him so I was proud of him for for that being prepared uh being ready when his number was called and so uh I know those guys will continue to work as as we go through this week but uh you know expect you know expectation is that Luke will be uh will be starting and uh you know obviously we’ll go and um you know throw everything we have into it stay here for Chris want to get your thoughts on DJ leg way what he’s done for Florida and what stands out about stands out about his game yeah you know I think I mean you see you see him as he’s progressed throughout the year you know he’s playing with more confidence um you know as as the year has gone on um you know he’s made uh you know some some big strides throughout the course of the year um you know he definitely a player that uh you you got an impressive arm Talent you know is uh um you can throw the ball all all across the field uh you know he’s done a good job of extending plays you know when things you know you know break down or if he needs to be able to move you he keeps his eyes down the field and you know definitely can hurt you um you know if you don’t if you don’t stick in your coverage um and then is you know obviously athletic enough to to be able to make you pay with his legs as well so I mean I think um you know he’s a uh you know he’s a very talented young man but it’s but also one that’s you know you know being able to play with uh with more confidence with each rep rep that he’s gotten in the different situation that he’s found himself and so uh you he’s he’s playing his best ball of the Year here at the end of it all right next will be Liam second WR your left coach royell is on the depth chart do you expect him to be a full Go 100% for this weekend I I do I mean he’s going to you know he’s done a good job of being able to push uh you throughout the course of the uh the last few weeks and um you know we’ll see exactly how many you know how many plays he’s going to be able to uh uh you know get for us there come uh come Saturday but but full expectation is for him to play and uh you know he started uh you this last week and you saw you saw the uh um you know the burst you saw the U you know the balance you know the things that you want to see from a back you know coming off of an injury and uh you know excited to see him back in the lineup we go to IR second your right that was that was probably the first game all season where the offense went into halftime feeling decently about themselves um what was it like in the could you sense that any difference in terms of confidence and how does that change managing the course of a game when there’s things to build on as opposed to kind of treading water or struggling yeah I mean um you know obviously there were plays in the first half that we still you know some drivve some protection some things that we wanted to uh to be better at but you know I was really pleased with how we ended the second quarter you know getting a couple touchdown drives you know and and then it was you know at halftime I mean there had been some positive but it was still about let’s clean up the issues that we’ve had we knew we were going to get the ball uh there to start the second half we wanted to we wanted to uh to kick it off the right way and you know I thought our guys did did a great job you know first play going and having a a long touchdown pass um you know that really was a a big spark there you know to to how we wanted to start and um you know I thought the the guys you handled themselves it wasn’t you know we didn’t go into the locker room you you celebrating that half but we were we were you thinking about still what were the areas that we need to get corrected what do we need to improve upon uh so that we could have the best second half that that we possibly could and I thought the guys had the right mindset and were able to come out and there and execute their early in the second half St over there for for was there one or two uh specific plays that Luke had in that game where you’re like and you could feel free to go into detail if you want but like what where you’re like okay he’s starting to get it that’s a play that’s a check that’s a throw that’s a decision where it’s starting to make sense to him a little bit more yeah I mean he had he had a couple of uh of checks base off of looks that I mean um that I appreciated you could tell the film study you could tell see the confidence it wasn’t one of those things that he was looking over to us I me he he saw and uh understood you know what we needed to get into he I thought he was very aware of his protections of of making sure that uh um you know you you he heard the communication if it was something from the line or he that he was you know that he was on point with the you kind of playing one step ahead which you know for him is is a is you know really uh as each go week has gone by you he’s grown in his confidence when it when it comes to that of of understanding uh I thought that you know he got better with his rhythm and timing throughout the course of that game and uh I know I mentioned after you after the game on Saturday but you know you look at the third and 11 uh You’ll Play to jakai I mean that was that was a play to me that you know you’re in a you’re in a longer yard situation you know we kind of needed a a spark in that moment and uh you know to be able to go through re you fit it in a in a in a good window and just to be able to have that that that spark and that boost uh um was was big and U you know I thought he he did just a really nice job of of managing it really from that point on I thought he managed the game really well he was able to locate the ball where he needed to um you know he got some one-on-one throws and you know he was decisive with that um and uh you know just you know but I thought there was a you know a handful of those plays early where you felt him you know to say take a deep breath but he really did I mean he just you know he was able to go out there it was on Rhythm on time execution and then you know it just you build through that and I I think that’s something that coming out of that game um you know it’s it it definitely is a confidence booster um for cuz you know it’s when you’re true freshman running out there for the you know first time as a as a starter I mean there’s some nerves that go with that and you you want it to be a certain way you wanted to look a certain way and um you ultimately we missed a few things early uh you just in you know in in you different different parts but uh you know I thought he handled that well and just kept playing and you know was able to get rolling and you build some of that positive momentum come back to you mentioned it in your opening and after the game that you guys had already started you know looking at head to Florida there’s a lot of these guys in the roster who are getting their first experience in this rivalry game you know what is the message to those guys and what are you looking for out of them when they take the field on Saturday yeah I mean it takes it’s going to take every bit of um energy Focus passion uh fight that you have in your body uh you know for for 60 minutes or however long that that uh that this game is called to go I mean it’s going to it’s going to be uh you know it’s going to be one of those games that you know obviously it’s a lifetime to remember you know the results of of this game and you know it’s it takes every bit of your preparation uh what you do throughout the course of the week you know how much film are you studying how much you know how hard are you pushing in practice you know what are the things that you’re doing whether it’s in the training room if you got to get your body uh get your body right and and and prep for this one what you’re doing in a weight room all all parts of it I mean this is a uh uh this is what college football is is truly about is when you have these games that um you know they don’t like us we don’t like them it’s all part of it and you know you go out there and you put your best foot forward uh and then you go fight for victory and that’s that’s what that’s what our focus is is I mean we want everything that we have uh to go you know put our best effort out on that field and we got a lot of confidence in our guys uh in what’s going to show up we’ll stay there for Peter um coach of you kind of little to this earlier but um with the seniors being that this is their last game on player for f um what’s what do you say is going to be like the message or what are you going to tell um those guys who’ve been with the program since the beginning I mean it’s it you know let’s let’s go finish with with everything that you have all the all the work that’s gone in man go finish the right way and go put it but you all that we have into it I’m grateful for the work that those guys have have poured in I’m grateful for the impact that they’ve made uh you know some of these guys have been here five six years and they’ve seen the ups and the Downs um and you know this is their their La last opportunity uh to play as a Florida State seminal and you know to be able to to to be at home to play at at do Campell Stadium I mean it’s really um you know it is a a special experience it’s one that uh um you know a lot of these guys dreamed about it when they were growing up as as little boys and they’ve got to live out that dream and you know uh you know what better way to go out I mean this would be a a really special uh uh special opportunity for them and you know I mean there’s going to be a motion that’s that’s going to go into this game regardless but knowing that it’s it’s their last one I mean it’s uh you got to go empty the tank this week and you got to put everything that you have you into being your your absolute best go back to Ira on your right FL Florida’s defense has has played pretty well all season but these last few weeks it seems like particularly in in certain situations Red Zone um they’ve also created some turnovers what do you see from them in those in those situations and challenges they present I mean I think you I mean you see some some changes just you throughout their uh uh defense throughout the year um you know I think they’ve done some things to um you say simplify but I mean you know you see you’re seeing consistency and and what they’re being asked to do um yes they have their variations they have the you know the different uh um you know different fronts different you pressures that they’ll bring uh you know obviously how they mix and match coverages but I mean you see those guys they’re playing fast and you know they’re they’re being very opportunistic you know around the ball I mean they’ve been able to create takeaways uh they’ve had some big you know big stops there in critical situations whether it’s you know fourth down stops I mean it’s last week I think they had two you know two fourth down stops inside the 10 yard line um you know they like I said Force multiple turnovers um and you you see the the confidence that they’re playing with um and you know obviously they’ve been doing it uh you know for these last few weeks at at a really high level and so uh you know we know that we’re going to get their best effort and you know obviously it’s going to take it’s going to take everything that we have uh to go and and you know to be aggressive in our attack and you know obviously to control the things that we can control all right stay there for Coury um how much progress you said you know last week your your time was divided you’re trying to put together staff and devote to to the players on this team how much progress has been made in the staff building uh that’s part one part two is you know I’m sure there’s some guys you might be interested in that might only not play in Conference Championship games but maybe coach in a playoff game um would you wait until then to make a decision to make an announcement or would you make an announcement even before they if if you’ve hired someone before they’re done coaching that particular team yeah I mean all all things you evaluating all situations when it comes to that and uh uh you know there are guys that U you know probably in a pretty good track to to be playing in the playoff that uh uh I know have interest in opportunities here and um you know obviously we’re going through uh you know all parts of it just trying to find the right fit of U you know for our for our football program for these players uh for what we’re trying to do you know and build you know immediately and then you know obviously for for um you know the next you know next few years as we continue to uh to to bounce back from you know where we are right now and and uh you I really like the the progress that has been made um you know we’ll kind of see you know the timeline of how that uh um you know all shakes out here in the next you know next week next couple of weeks and then you anything progressing from there I think all options are are open um you know all all uh all things are being considered and uh you we’ll make the best decision when we need to uh obviously as it unfolds go to Aon in back right I don’t know if in the history of this rivalry there’s ever been both teams have started a true freshman a quarterback will Saturday speak to the trajectory of of either program and you talk about how important this game is or is is this game just about Saturday will it speak to a larger trend of where these teams can possibly be in the future well I mean you know for for us it’s it’s about Saturday I mean you know everything everything you do is is about progression it’s about growth you want to see that um in what you’re doing um you know but you know our Focus right now is to to to everything that we have for this team this group I mean we got a uh you know a a really good group of of guys that are playing in their last game and you know they put a lot into this program and you know I want them to to be able to finish it you know you the right way to finish it uh by playing their best football uh you know in of their career here at Florida State um and then you know yes we are playing a lot of young players and you these guys you have have a great opportunity in front of them for what they’re going to do and helping uh you elevate this program and you know the next opportunity in front of us is is uh is this Saturday and so my expectation is to see growth Improvement and for us to go out there and and play to the absolute best of our ability and if we do that I got a lot of confidence in what that’ll be and you know I’m definitely very confident for what the uh what the future holds uh you know as we continue to progress and see these guys grow up and you know obviously the new uh U you know the the new members that will join this program here moving forward it’s uh you know all things will be pushing upward as we uh as we you know finish up here this this next week all right we’ll go to Matt on your right uh even though he’s not playing Richie Leonard’s a guy who transferred from Florida do you see him being a little bit extra motivating this week around or on the sidelines of practice or anything just because of that connection uh I mean you know I think Richie’s done a good job of trying to you know connect with our players is one of the things you know he’s one of those guys that I’ve been really pleased with even though you know while being unavailable trying to trying to be you know an inspiration trying to be an impact you for for some of the younger guys some of the guys that are you know still working their way through um you know you know kind of their growth and you know Richie is a guy I think has a chance to be a great leader on this team um you know obviously now but then you know obviously this next year with having another year of Eligibility you know with the red shirt and so uh you know I don’t know if there going be any extra motivation for him or any of that but I mean you know it’s a you know he wants he wants to see this team be successful he wants to see his teammates go out there and and be the best they can be and you know he’s going to do everything in his power to to help us help prepare us to to be that we’ll go to B front row on your right uh coach a number of uh freshmen made their debuts against Charleston Southern looking on at Defense DD Holmes Ricky Knight jamori wonder if you can reflect on watching film what those guys on defense show you and if you wanted to mention any guys on offense too yeah you know I thought it was uh good for those guys to be able to get uh some live work uh you know some guys that also you know y Charles and Kai both got a little bit more extensive work um you know um uh you know dbo got some work there at D tackle too so I mean it was a good it was a good game for us to see those guys get out there and to be able to to have to go and execute have to get the communication you know to see um you them you know in some instan you utilize the techniques and fundamentals and then some guys this um you know when you get out there in the speed of you the speed of the game the first time that you’re out there on the field uh just seeing the importance of the communication and and being able to apply those uh those techniques but um you know I was I was really you know proud of them for for the performance that they were able to have and you know just to be able to get out there and to go and play to play Fast um you I think that’s a really good uh group of young guys and excited about what they’re going to do uh offensively I mean basically the entire game was bunch of you a lot of young players that uh um you went out there and did some really good things and I think um you know I was really proud of you know Landon made a big catch over the middle you know in uh in traffic you know getting a chance to uh to finish a play you know even just you seeing AEM Williams you know he’s I mean he’s still a true sophomore uh you know battled with injury at the beginning of year but you know seeing him have a couple big catches was uh was good you know you saw L Wayne Uh you saw BJ you know both those guys Makai Dany um you know with the big catch I mean that was uh all impressive Mari Williams scoring another touchdown I mean as you’re you know Cam Davis getting back in I mean it’s you you kind of go through and you got a laundry list of uh of freshman or or uh you know red shirt freshman true sophomores that that have had to to step up and go make an impact and you know that you you you feel their confidence you feel you know some of the explosiveness and the ability that they have and so you really excited about where that’s going um and you know for for those guys to take that experience and and go take another step here this week we got time for two more go to Ira on your right coach hannon’s you know had a big role in the defense since he’s been here but um first time getting to hear him call a game it just the way he approached things what were no I thought he did a really good job and obviously there was some changing and moving Dynamics if you guys are who are in the Box you Randy was down on the field I thought uh he did a great job of organizing um you know just the the defense and the defensive staff um you know I mean he he cares so much for these players and you he’s done a great job of poting into them um you know it was and it was it was great just to see them go and and uh you know you play the way that they did and you know I think coach Shannon is um you know you he’s he’s excited you know for uh the opportunity that he’s gotten these these last few weeks and I mean obviously he’s done you he’s done you know uh for for many years throughout his career but you know just kind of putting you know putting his uh um you know kind of putting his signature on on this group here these last couple games and uh you know definitely appreciate the work that he and the defensive staff has all poured in to to put our guys in a in a great position and you know we’re going to take it’s going to take a great effort here this week last one will be Brendon here on your left with the coordinator hires what kind of say will they have in in helping complete the staff or you know have put in in bringing in coaches with them that that kind of stuff yeah I mean you we’ll we’ll evaluate all those things as as they uh we kind of get to it and um you know depending on you know who what you know positions things that uh of that nature you know how it kind of all ties together but um yeah I always I’ve always um you know looked for you know input from guys that are coordinators I mean you obviously you’re you’re there working on on a side of a ball uh with with a with a group and you to be able to have guys that are uh familiar guys that uh um you know might understand a little bit more of the terminology language you know the the some of the the ins and out sometimes those guys are you know in the position rle sometimes they’re in analyst roles I mean so you we’ll evaluate all things as we uh as we continue to uh to progress and and identify who the that right fit is for us all right thank you all right
