coming up on today’s show we’re going to be breaking down some transfer portal candidates for the Crimson Tide the regular season is over and there are a lot of players around the country who are already hitting the transfer portal so only a couple guys for Alabama so far in the portal we’ll talk about those guys but let me know who you think will hit the transfer portal outside the couple of guys that are already in there for the Crimson Tide let me know in the comments section right now [Music] all right since last season the transfer portal windows and dates have kind of shifted a little bit so before we get into my candidates and everything like that just want to kind of go over an overview of the transfer portal and kind of some of the changes that have been made the transfer portal that December window will open up on December 9th so here just in a couple of days about a week away there and it will run through December 28th and then it will close the spring transfer portal window will then open up and that one’s going to actually be a short window only 10 days there it’s going to run from April 16th through April 25th and you know look the NCAA it seems like they have absolutely no power anymore so players can enter the transfer portal as many times as they want at this point and they can immediately um you know play they are immediately eligible to play once they hit the transfer portal and into uh you know to their new school no matter how many times they have entered the transfer portal so far in their college career two players have already hit the transfer portal for Alabama well they’ve at least filed the paperwork anyways to enter the transfer portal here Jim modus defensive tackle just really hadn’t gotten the playing time that he wanted this year early in the season it felt like as when he hit the portal there it’s a real shame because I thought Jim modus was going to be a guy that really stepped in to a solid role here in his uh junior season remember his freshman season played very well kind of had a little bit of a setback in his sophomore year had to battle a lot of injuries there but then this year under Kane wck just wasn’t able to show that consistently or consistency that we really thought and hoped that he would have this year and then Kean o coat of course he got suspended uh you know he got pulled over going over a 100 miles an hour um and that became an issue he got suspended and uh did not travel with the team to LSU that’s kind of when we started to figure out about all those things there ends up uh stepping away from the team and filing that paperwork to hit the transfer portal just a couple days later I’ve got five transfer portal candidates that I want to get into today now this is just my best guest this there’s nothing on paper there’s nothing that’s been reported these are just some of the guys that I think could possibly make their way into the transfer portal number one is going to be Elijah pritch and I say this um with all honesty I think Elijah pritchet was terrible this year I you know look at the beginning of the season um you know he started at that left tackle spot because of the injuries to Kaden Proctor you started at that right tackle position with wilin forby he had a bad game versus um South Florida Elijah pritchet goes in there at the end of the game plays really really well but then just throughout the season it was kind of just like Jaylen milro just an up and down roller coaster and really the number here that I look at are those hurries not so much the sacks of the hits cuz Jaylen milro did kind of a decent job at times getting away from some of that pressure but um look to me I’ve told you guys you know the the PFF grades aren’t gospel or anything like that but I think you know the range of the grade is kind of what you need to look at that run block grade sitting there at 50.6 the pass block grade at 43 both of those are just really bad numbers like I said I don’t care if it’s 43 or 47 or you know 45 anything like that you just kind of look at the range and you can tell that he did not have a very good season and then he got benched during the Iron Bowl as well I kind of didn’t understand a lot of that process um I was calling for his benching to put wil and for me back in there a long time ago but uh you know they benched him they put wilen for me in there I thought he was playing pretty well then they put Elijah pritchet back in and then took him back out so I don’t really know what was going on there whether that’s injuries or whatnot but I think that honestly The Tackle position might be a position that Alabama also needs to try to get something back from in the transfer portal sure maybe Elijah pritchet takes a step forward if he stays but remember he already did hit the portal last year right around um you know the college football playoff time and Nick Sabin talked him back into staying there so we’ll see what happens with Elijah pritchet but I certainly honestly would not miss him if he hit the trans portal this year so what position do you guys think Alabama needs to uh get from the transfer portal the most important position that you guys think let me know at the pin comment of today’s video sure you’re going to lose some players in the transfer portal but where you lose some you can gain some as well so what position do you think Alabama needs the most out of the transfer portal this season transfer portal candidate number two here I’m going to go with Keon Keeley and this is not something that I do lightly I really like Keon Keeley he’s a former five-star player he’s had some ups and downs so far in his career at Alabama he gained a lot of weight coming into the season positive weight not negative weight in that sense but he is still a red shirt freshman this season got red shirted last year to kind of uh you know change his body a little bit um because he moved from that outside linebacker position now to that defensive line position here in year two he’s been playing that Bandit position or at least working at that Bandit position but look he only played 18 snap this year snaps this year recorded two tackles now I will say going to that LSU game I think traveling to LSU was a very positive sign for Keon key he was able to get in at the end of the game there I believe he even played in that Mercer game as well but I really like Keon key and I really hope he doesn’t hit the transfer portal but just kind of the way things play out or have played out that’s why he’s on my list here as a candidate to go into the transfer portal and I will say this too I think he’s one of the guys that is up next for Alabama at that Bandit position you’re probably going to lose jary and leam I’m pretty sure he’s out of Eligibility there um there’s a chance anyways that LT Overton goes off to the NFL draft this year um I think he still has some eligibility left but I thought he played really well this year I’d like to see him come back but there is a chance that uh you know he does go off to the NFL draft which leaves you with uh Jordan renad leaves you with Keon Keeley there I think those are going to be your two guys at that Bandit position next year um you know we’ll see what happens like I said with LT Overton there but man I I really do think Keon key is a guy that can really step up and be a contributor for you next year as well and who knows maybe they can play around with some of the things you’ve seen this year how Kan wck you know utilizes different guys in different ways you’ve seen Smith kind of slide out there more of a defensive end more than a defensive tackle so maybe they could do something like that um you know going forward with Keon Keeley but I really hope he stays at Alabama but we will see for right now with the lack of playing time that he had this year I’m going to put him on that transfer uh game time all right transfer portal candidate number three here I’m going to go with Jalil Hurley at that cornerback position now Jalil Hurley just simply hasn’t played this year and he is a red shirt freshman and that really isn’t that big of a deal to me that he didn’t really play much this year cuz at that cornerback position that’s a position where it takes a little bit you know really to figure out things and uh you know just consistently get better as a player only played 19 snaps this year one tackle for him um but I do think it is notable that a lot of freshmen have been playing above Jill Hurley now I’m not saying he can’t stick around and be that guy eventually uh you know you saw that a couple years ago from a guy like Levi Wallace you know was in the system for a long time and then finally later on in his career he really Ed Ed and he kind of was that dude um but when you look at the depth chart right now you know we’ll see what happens in the next you know couple of weeks or so but there’s a chance you might lose dman Jackson off to the NFL draft he’s had a phenomenal season this year we’ll see he’s not even in the top 10 on Mel Kyper uh um cornerbacks list so I mean I think he probably should be but he’s not right now so we’ll see there Devonte Smith I think he’s had a good season but I would assume he returns again for Alabama which definitely going to lose Malachi more to the NFL draft uh next season so um you know I know that’s a different position he’s at that safety spot but um look there’s just uh a lot of players right now that have been playing above Jill Hurley and look it’s kind of what the transfer pudle is right now anyways in college football right it’s guys that they don’t see in the future where they can be a starter you know eventually you got jayen and bque you got zaben brown you got a lot of those freshmen and those young guys who have been getting more playing time that’s kind of the reason why I’m putting Jalil Hurley on this list you also got some studs coming in in this 2025 recruiting class as well dejon Lee he’s a five-star Corner um you know just because you’re fstar doesn’t mean you’re going to come in and immediately play or anything like that but that’s just another guy who’s going to be pushing you for that position um you know once he gets into the system here you got Ivan Taylor a fourstar top 100 player and Chuck McD Donald also another top 100 cornerback coming into Alabama’s 2025 class so see what happens obviously I hope nobody hits the transfer portal but if there if I got to pick Five because honestly guys I just don’t think that they were utilized to the best of their ability this year now have Justice haes on there because I think he’s kind of the top guy that I’m a little bit worried about when it comes to any of those running backs hitting the transfer portal but man honestly it could be any of these guys in this running back room Jam Miller he got utilized the most as that uh or at that running back position this year but your leading rusher this year was jayen Milo it wasn’t even one of your running backs and I don’t think that bodess well especially you look like a guy like uh you know Daniel Hill Kevin Riley Richard young some of these younger guys that are coming up um you know seeing hey I don’t know if I’m really going to be utilized as much as I thought I was under say a Nick Sabin regime you know because that was the regime that all of these guys committed to at the end of the day Jam Miller finally they got him involved more during the Iron Bowl he had 28 carries in that game Justice Haynes I you look you guys know how I feel about him I think he’s a really really good player um 5.7 yards per car this year for him just he just was not given the ball a lot this year now K kayin neor did say that a lot of that had to do with him fighting through some injuries and stuff like that um so you know you take that you know into consideration there but our genuinely think that they did not use these running backs enough and maybe some of that had to do with Jaylen milro being as good of a runner as he is but still you saw it during the iron bolt you get these running backs going it really open up the offensive lot and then you look at a guy like Richard young as well little bit of a different running back I think he’s more of a PowerBack than the other two guys but still this is another guy that’s going to be really good in the future really hope he sticks around as well look this is one of those position groups that you know they’re getting the playing time but it’s actually you know the production on the field and everything like that um where I don’t think this coaching staff really utilized them this year maybe that’s just because Jaylen milro is a dynamic MC runner at times but uh look we’ll see what happens I really hope all these guys stick around but there is a chance that at least one of these guys I would assume maybe one of those younger guys but guy like justice Haynes is who I’m honestly really afraid of hitting the transfer portal this year so are you guys concerned about any of these running backs hitting the transfer portal during this portal window or even during that spring window let me know in the comments section type why for yes or in for no all right my last transfer portal candidate here um I was going to go with Jaylen milro or Ty Simpson but I just said screw it just going to go ahead and make it Ty Simpson here um look I think Tai Simpson is going to be your quarterback next year but it really does depend on what happens to Jaylen milro is he gonna go off to the NFL draft is he gonna choose to stay here at Alabama or does Jaylen milro choose to hit the transfer portal and go somewhere else as well to kind of uh you know not cause a backlog at that quarterback position because look I know a lot of us including myself really thought or hoped that Jaylen milro would just get better and you know progress this season from last year I thought that 2023 year was a good start to be a starting quarterback but then this year you really wanted him to take that extra step forward and you look at his numbers right here they’re almost identical now 2023 had an extra game there had that college football playoff game as well but look at the completion percentage it’s pretty much the exact same the passing yards you know he had two more 200 or so extra yards last year but also had that one extra game the rushing yards did go up that’s kind of something that I expected to happen the total touchdowns stay the exact same the splits rushing and uh passing were a little bit different last year he had more passing touchdowns this year he had pretty much almost the exact same right down the middle there I think it was 20 rushing to uh um 15 passing touchdowns but look the total turnovers went up again this year for Jaylen milro he had 10 interceptions also had four fumbles lost on the season but look right now on the Mel Kyper quarterback rankings list he is sitting there at number three so um you know in a quarterback class that is definitely down in this 2025 um NFL draft class look in a year that Jaylen milro would normally probably go in the second or third round there’s still a chance there’s a lot of quarterback needy teams out there he could still go in the first round of the NFL draft and I really hope that is what is going to be the case there that Jaylen milro goes off to the NFL draft cuz I really want Tai Simpson to start next year um at that cornerback spot he um said in a uh interview this past week I believe it was he said hopefully next year that’s going to be my job hopefully next year I’m going to be the guy and he even kind of jokingly said he wants to be Alabama’s head coach after kayin deor retires so look this is a guy that does love Alabama when he was recruited he said that he was going to you know if he had to he would take the M Jones route he’ll sit for three or four years before he gets his opportunity there but I will say this if Jaylen milro for some reason decides to come back to Alabama it’s kind of depending on the coaching staff as well if he is welcome back you know not trying to be harsh there or anything like that but uh look you’re going to cause a backlog at quarterback if jayen milro does stick around for another year so for right now I’ve got Ty Simpson on there just kind of as a uh you know placeholder I guess you could say cuz I really don’t know what’s going to happen with Jaylen milro yet but I really do hope that Ty Simpson will be your starting quarterback next season [Music]
