🕵️‍♂️ Transcript:

um yeah I’m pretty happy with how the game went it’s nice to get more reps with um karpy here um trying to build something for the season so it’s nice when we get a couple bounces off the stick and stuff stuff slipping through five holes so um yeah I mean every game I’m trying to be dangerous in the offensive zone so it’s nice for our line to get a few yeah it’s a lot more fun to be on the same line rather than against her for sure but um you know like she said just uh we’ve been working every day to to build a little bit more chemistry and um you know it’s slowly coming together and I think when it when it finally clicks it’ll be lethal uh not necessarily I don’t think so um you know like I said we’ve never even taken a rep in practice before um so it’s just totally new um I’m more worried about keeping her from scoring rather than helping us score so um you know just it’s it’s been a quick training camp here and uh it was nice to have these two games but like I said I think it’s coming together nicely same thing I mean I think she’s one of the tough I get out of the way oh been one of the toughest players to play against on the US team for I think my whole career so um it’s nice to finally play with her but I think it’s just been fun to learn from her I feel like we’ve been parts of two different teams for so long so um just trying to learn you know her Tendencies and how she sees the game is huge to build to help build my game yeah I think um you know like Alex and Sarah have said I think we we started to see it in in practice one you know when they were on the same line together and I I think over time um you know they’re they’re seemingly getting more and more comfortable with each other and and uh you know Tendencies of their game and and where they like to get pucks and whatnot and and I think that’s a result of like what what they’re doing on the ice but also when they’re on the bench together they’re constantly in in conversation and finding ways to to tweak and improve upon what just happened out there so uh the chemistry’s been great and uh so far so good and hopefully it’s something that can that can really uh you know build build and sustain and help our team in the long run yeah I thought uh you know some similarities in our game tonight uh as we as we saw in the first game like there was some really good ozone sequences early on especially and I thought like um you know our commitment to to to a good four check was pretty evident in uh both games but especially as tonight’s game wore on I really like that and we just talked uh you know we tried to clean up some of our defensive Zone stuff from the first night and it’s really not not anything we’ve we’ve talked about we’ve had a chance to talk about much so um you know we we we had some really good discussion this morning at video and and really this is just about us continuing to get better and I think that’s what we were able to do today is just take a little bit of ground and um that’s really the name of a of the game here with a short short training camp so um I think in a similar way I think um you know last year the only thing that was really on my mind is that um you know this team wants to be successful successful and that was the only thing that was really kind of pushing me um you know some years it happens where you have a lot of points some years it doesn’t but at the end of the day for me it’s just making sure this team gets better every day and gets to our ultimate goal yeah honestly we we feel really put together I think um you know from uh the first day that we had Camp uh you know we were we were firing on all cylinders and I think um you know that’s something that we wanted last year and uh you know it came up a little short but uh you know we’ve been going since day one and I think every day we’ve been getting better hly I did the exact same thing I did today as I did yesterday and things just happen I don’t know um couple lucky bounces but yeah prepared the same way um yeah I mean they might have finished last but I thought I kind of won the lottery by getting to go to them and Greg getting getting called in with with New York and um not every day you get to step into a program and get to play with a player like karp uh right away so um yeah I think people like to spin it as you know New York finish last and everything but couldn’t wait to get on the ice with them and I think they have really great really great foundation and um I think there’s a lot of motivation from where they finished last and I’m excited to just slide right into that yeah it’s a good question um I think just improving my game um like karp said like points come and go and not necessarily focused on you know the the amount of points or or anything but I think just being able to say I was happy with how my first year Pro went and um make sure I come out of the Year learning a ton of new things things and um being happy with with where my game came I got no idea yeah um no we we uh I think you know the the benefit of playing these these games is is we got a really good look at our at our team in different ways and so you know we’ll go back to the drawing board and and figure out ways to keep getting better um you know we’ll have we’ll have some practice leading into uh our first road trip to Minnesota and I think that’s a date that we’ve all had circled for a long time so it’s just a matter of you know maybe a day off tomorrow and uh and then get back to work um you know and and continuing to add layers to our game to get us ready for that first game uh out out Minnesota yeah I thought Emmy had a great couple games um you know the thing that the thing that really stands out about her game is like she gives you absolutely everything that that she has and uh every shift that she’s out there she’s she’s strong on pucks um you know she in in most cases makes the right play When the Puck’s on her stick and um you know she’s just someone she’s a heart and soul type of player and I think she’s going to give you a really honest effort every single night and one of those players as a coach where you can kind of look down your bench and and any situation just kind of you know call her name and know know what exactly what you’re going to get out of her yeah I I mean we’ve shared a lot with the team I think up until this point it’s kind of hard to sum it up I would say um you know I I think for us or as a as a new coach and kind of a new staff um we really just want to make sure that we we provide a you know a runway for this team to to Really um you know build an identity as a team and I think that’s really for us that’s been to get to know the players you know in their game and the things that they do ex exceptionally well and then tried to build a game plan out from there and and really just allow them an opportunity to show case you know who they are and what they can do to collectively uh um and I think so far like you know every player is really bought into what we uh what we’ve tried to roll out and and so for us as coaches we’re just going to keep trying to add layers to that as the year goes on and and hopefully at the end of the year we’re playing uh in some of the most important games of the season and and playing our best hockey that’s really the ultimate goal
