are the Chicago Cubs about to make a big time trade Ryan Herrera of CHD Cubs here from the last day of the winter meetings in Dallas Texas and today there was a lot of trade Buzz going around the baseball world and a lot of it involved the Chicago Cubs connected to Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker now Kyle Tucker is a great offensive Talent he would be a huge boost to this lineup a lineup that went through its stretches of Port performance in 2024 Tucker had a 180 WRC plus and while that was only in 78 games he also hit 23 home runs and was worth over four wins above replacement according to Fan graphs so that shows the kind of impact he can have on the lineup when he’s on the field it doesn’t seem that a trade is imminent but it could happen realistically at any time if the Cubs were to do so some of the names connected in that trade rumor included SE Suzuki isach pedes cam Smith a 2024 first round pick for the Cubs but any package of players could go back in a return for Kyle Tucker now one of the issues is Kyle Tucker could be a free agent after next season however both Jed Hoyer and Carter Hawkins indicated that they would be willing to make that kind of trade because they feel they are in a position where they can trade future wins for current wins now it remains to be seen if they can get a deal done both Hawkins and Hoyer noted that it is hard to get deals across the finish line but if they are to get that trade deal done this would be a massive boost to the Chicago Cubs offense in 2025
