but let’s hear from man that was definitely tested today and that is their Defender Virgil Van djk Well Virgil a mad crazy afternoon full of talking points as you stand here now the final whistle just gone what are your Reflections uh obviously uh a good comeback that’s very positive I think um obviously it’s a disappointed obviously to come with 10 men but the fight we show we kept going um we kept trying we kept trying trying to find the free man in order to create chances and um could have been more but eventually we take the point and we uh we move on so the early part of that match one nil down down to 10 men what are you thinking stay calm obviously it sounds um you know easier than to do it but um yeah listen it’s uh it was always going to be tough against them they make it tough to a lot of teams and we seen it last year when they came here obviously and uh last week when they play Arsenal they uh they made it tough as well and uh we had to play a very good game unfortunately come one down um red card and you have to turn it around and keep fighting and um keep trying to play your uh your football and um that’s what we tried especially the second half and could have lead to more but unfortunately I didn’t so there were a number of big decisions in that match Fulham could have had a player sent off twice before Andy Robertson was sent off I think you were on hand when Andy got shown his red card for the for the challenge feel hard done by with any of it well I had conversations with the other players of fham as well and we all felt that he was uh maybe a little bit nervous I don’t know maybe if it’s true yes or no but sorry who was nervous the the referee yeah we we felt it a little bit I couldn’t together with uh Robertson couldn’t properly Comm communicate with him I felt you know it is what it is we can’t put the blame on the referee but um it’s also part of the game so so as a captain you’d normally like more dialogue with the referee than you did today well we are the only ones apparently that can speak to the referee and we all speak about protecting the referees and stuff and if we can if if I want to speak for my in behalf of my team then I should be able to and I felt like at times but we shouldn’t make a dick thing out of this but probably going to happen now but it isn’t the reason where we uh where we drop points today um there were also multiple other factors and um but we take the point they mooving they will take the point and as you said considering all things that went on in that game it was a a good point earned it was in the manner they they composed themselves and in impose themselves on um on Fulham great energy you know great Fitness great determination and belief in what they’re doing so just stay calm and overcome the adversity today um lots to take from it from a positive point doesn’t always go your way in the Premier League we saw that today but they get the point they move on yeah and they were trailing at half time weren’t they and we were talking about what the plan would be for the second half with the 10 men and it was Cody gakpo that got on the score sheet for them yeah I mean I think it was probably the uh only thing maybe that Robinson had done done wrong in the game is not get tight to Mo Salah and give him the time and space to do that any player with this time in space is going to produce Magics and moments and quality there’s a big distance you got to get out to him you got an extra player there’s no one behind you get tight stop the cross then there’s obviously an overload round the back stick and look GP brilliant diving Ed isn’t going to miss from there you see it from this Angle now nice nice tidy finish but you can’t give him mostel of that time we’ve already seen what he can do throughout the season The Season’s gone before if you give him that space he will put that on a six PS for gak P which he did what an assist from mosalah his 100th for Liverpool in all competitions that was some ball it doesn’t surprise us though does it does I mean if you give him time and space whether it’s the outside of his foot whether it’s curling the in swingers he does it week and week out he’s just so consistent with his product nothing goes wrong for him at the moment and long may it continue should the keeper have done any better there to save that goal what that one yeah nah no the only thing I think from there is he stop the cross but it’s still only the one time that he didn’t get out every other time Robinson straight out and he’s so aggressive to get tight to the ball was the one time he didn’t um and it’s it’s hurt them and it came at the right time didn’t it quite early on in the second half as well they really needed to start the second half F well you could tell they were aware of that and the fans went up the players confidence and energy went up and then all of a sudden Fulham were on the back foot okay well I’m delighted to say we’re going to head straight back to anfield now and speak to that goal scorer Cody gakpo Cody it’s a pleasure to have you with us thank you for joining us on Match Day Live first of all talk us through that because we were exhausted watching it uh um yeah obviously it was also an exhausting game for us I think we really fought really hard uh to get a result um but yeah at the end draw um yeah not happy with the draw but I think yeah we fought really hard and uh very proud of the guys yes Cody can I ask you about the uh the fitness levels the team have shown and the intensity after a tough game midweek in Europe I think that was one of the most impressive things for me how intense the performance was in the second half everybody looked so fit and sharp yeah I think um we are very fit uh obviously the crowd helps us a lot especially at home um but yeah we we train hard uh to to be ready for such moments hopefully they don’t come uh that often but yeah uh we are fit enough Cody we’re going to show you your goal now can you talk us through it and and what was the process leading to it and then your brilliant finish here it is now just coming into your screen so yeah Lucho on the ball I think yeah Mo I always know mo when he’s there he can give the ball like this the ball went over Lucho and I just yeah tried to head it in uh great ball good finish um yeah sorry I think sorry I was going to ask you at half time what did the manager say was was he talking to you more about the energy or was there a tactical shift as well um yeah a small tactical shift uh when we had the ball and when we didn’t have the ball but mostly about just the intensity uh try to get the crowd behind us like they always do and go for the goal and yeah it happened and uh yeah we did we did a good job I think to put uh that much energy in the game and the crowd helped us a lot for that Cody at the end even though obviously you were down to to 10 plays very early on and you said it was exhausting you had so much momentum before the end was you a little bit disappointed that you couldn’t go on and get the winner in the end yeah I think um we had some great opportunities at the end and then uh yeah it just needs to to to go in the right direction for for the team sometimes it happens today it didn’t so a little bit unlucky in the yeah in the in the last pass or in the in the finishing but I think as a team we showed the character we have and uh that we that we could make it and uh hopefully it will never come that we are down with 10 men but if it comes we we know that we can win exactly well thank you very much Cody for taking the time to speak to us and best of luck with the next match thank you very much bye-bye bye wow he just summed up really well there didn’t he just how difficult that was and what I really liked is actually he was really disappointed that they couldn’t go on and win it and that’s the mentality they have he’s he’s um he’s got a wonderful mentality as a individually as a player to keep going and even at times he’s been criticized in the past his work ethic is always the same wherever he’s has to play and he epitomized that Liverpool performance he gets in on the back post he gets a goal he presses he does his work he had to tweak his position second half which we noticed we talked about half time so I I I think there’s so much for Liverpool to take from that from that performance in a positive sense rather than worry about the two points drop they had to come back again didn’t they because mun took it to 2-1 yeah I mean again um this is whether they were going to get down the sides when Liverpool went to a back three there you think in there the side areas could he have defended that better in terms of that ball was always going to come down the side of Quanza there but running off the back of maybe Trent there and then the thing that I’m probably a little bit frustated in there there he’s got to check either check with his body or he gets the pace in behind and stops that pass in from AI but I’m thinking there Virgil Van Dyke if you just go two or three yards Buster got your side foot out the way so I’m a little bit I don’t know why Virgil kind of stopped and allowed the other you know mun to get an advance of him he keeps going Virgil there he can just side foot that out but look it was a few errors towards that goal and you have to give credit to Fulham and a great run across the goal for munes to get into that position in the first place um and they took the lead but the response Danny yeah I mean on the pitch for what six and a half minutes I mean we know his quality we’ve seen it many many times and this is what we talked about before the game Liverpool have sorry half time having the equality on the bench to bring players on who can produce moments of magic in the final third you need real quality in tough moments this is beautiful I mean he finishes well with both feet the calm when you come off the bench normally the adrenaline’s pumping to have the calmness to do that when you’ve just come on the pitch says everything about him and also he hadn’t just come on the pitch it was his first game back after two months okay we’re going to head to molu now remember it was a huge game at the bottom geme of the Premier League been down to TM for such a for such a long time I think the belief that’ll give Liverpool they’ve got a real we know they got a real chance but some things results to G will give them that extra sort of belief themselves win it Arsenal dropped points today they drew nil nil which doesn’t sound like has entertaining game at some point Damian’s going to mention the B myself and yourself predicted a two- all draw today but ites better it better from him but he’s not said nothing I was I was going to mention that you know the biggest winner today with Chelsea with their result tomorrow that’ll put them a little bit closer yeah but myself and Sh are big winners here I think we’ll take our Victory lap during the break back after the game is coming up in a few minutes and the 10 minutes injury time absolutely killed us there so we don’t have time to show all the controversial incidents there were plenty of those we will try and rattle through the second half goals starting with the equalizer Cody gako delicious assist here from Mo salad he worked it really well this is after a breakway we thought we could get more in it ends up coming to him anyway what a delightful ball very reminiscent of the the ball and the discussion they had after we heard about the man city game just fed into that area and Luis Diaz is brilliant here because he busted got to get middle of goal and he takes t with him suspicion of a follow VR to check it but if if Diaz doesn’t make that run um then T can probably back to PA of him but look as soon as he comes inside him now he might get it but as soon as it beats him it gives him a great header and it is a great header Brave heads it down superb equalizes yeah nicely taken from Cody gako there so that stage Liverpool are back level they were down to 10 men in case you miss it Andy Robertson was sent off fulber causing them a lot of trouble down Trent Alexander Arnold’s side and that’s where they got their second goal yeah I mean fulam were were brilliant on the break and you think obviously Li being at home they’re going to have a lot of position but filam will be kicking themselves up from being honest this is where the goal comes from down this side again Trent jumped into Midfield I think and you know Robinson that the the left back was brilliant in both ends of the pitch today for Fulham and it go it’s going to go down as a mun goal but I think it might even be off goal you I think this angle’s a really good angle here on don’t take it off from sh I’m not sure it’s actually going in but Smith throws around the back post as well if it goes he’ll probably have a tap in but fham had so many opportunities like that to make it even more but you’re going to you’re going to have to take risk if you’re Liverpool be 10 men you want to get back into the game of course but you know mo way fans of Fulham will be will be um not not disheartened by the performance I think they should have maybe got more they had a good time you could see them even postmatch I mean it was an enjoyable game for everybody involved really nobody could feel too terrible after after a match like that at this age of the season let’s have a look at the equalizer Doo they’ve missed him and well they carried on pretty well without him to be fair but just to have this weapon to bring listen quen number 15 there probably the only misstep that he’s had all game he just overshoots it thinks he’s going to take a touch on his left foot but we know de Gara very proficient with his left foot his right foot his head L the ball from Nunez this touch here and chops it back onto gives the goalkeeper the eyes the goalkeeper gambles and perhaps sh could elaborate on that but I think he just gambl that it’s going to go to the far post and then reverses it inside yeah I think Leno will be disappointed if I’m being honest I know he’s gas and he’s gambled but your job as a goalkeeper is to get your balance get set when he has a strike it’s not gone in the corner as well you know it’s a good finish we talk about maybe Nunes strugg front the goal J again he’s a natural finisher isn’t he sort of he has done him with the eyes Leno’s lent it’s a goal but as a goalkeeper probably a bit disappointed but again you have lift off at anfield and then we’re saying the kitchen sinks coming on in the minute from Liverpool because they really smelled blood at this point they thought they they’re going to get back into uh they get a winner sorry was incredible wasn’t it because at one stage van djk is up there was an incredible go but other end Allison digs him out like listen like a lot of the problems for Liverpool came down Trent side and listen I love Trent but being down to 10 men he’s just still so enthusiastic St so front foot goes all the way in presses and listen that channel down the side of Quant was just getting exploited all night um but it was a great game if they won that if they dug that one out and gotten all three points you could have hand it over the trhy I think they think it’s a like a fre s it’ll feel like a three-pointer or tonight cuz with TM for so long and they get back from from going behind twice it’s a I think it’s a brilliant result for okay you agree but it looks of things but have no more time for that maybe meet us in the pub afterwards or something for a little bit more postmatch
