I see the the for nation’s rosters uh will be announced this week um there should be I think we’re expecting you know a few Wild players on on Team USA especially with Faber and and Matt baly and you have the Sweden uh counterparts I’m sure gusts in and um you know Brodin and the like will be on there you’ll be do a lot Team Canada I understand uh just what are your hardest Cuts you think for Team Canada and is Stephen stamp Coast on this roster I don’t think he is you know I don’t have a the roster so it’s more sense than true reporting in this case but you I just think at this stage of his career it’s tough I mean stamp Co if you look back at his history it’s just it’s a story of bad timing in 2010 he was maybe a little too young to make the team for the Vancouver Olympics he obviously got injured in the runup to the Sochi Olympics so missed that tournament and then throughout the best years of his career there was no best on best hockey I know he did play at the World Cup in 2016 but that wasn’t quite the same as getting you know a chance to go represent his country at the Olympics and so I think for those like stamp Co John tarus players of that age you know they’re all kind of compatriots it’s going to be tough for them to make this team um you know Sydney Crosby’s an outlier obviously was named among the first six players and it’s kind of the crazy to say Sid the kid’s kind of the grandfather of this roster now he’s the you know he’s the the big brother in the room and I would expect the captain but it’s going to be a lot of younger guys and I think the toughest Cuts quite honestly will probably come at the forward position um you know Canada has a number of players especially centers uh maybe more than some countries where they have a debate how many Centers do we bring and move to the wing you know out of position and then you know it’s it’s more scoring players can we you know I know Team USA had a similar debate but are you having this you know your fourth line your 13th forward are you what kind of elements you know are there guys that can kill penalties and so I think you know there are players like uh Mark shley say who’s had a really nice start in Winnipeg that I I think could go either way you know it’s not saying he’s not on the team but if he wasn’t it’s just because he he kind of fills an offensive role primarily and and Canada has a lot of offensive players ahead of him I’ll start with McKinnon Marner you know obviously McDavid um you know you go down the list you get yeah all these guys are kind of guaranteed to be on the team and then basically your your question is do we have Mark shley on the fourth line or do we just maybe have someone who’s better Adept you know Tom Wilson for example is a player I know Canada has looked at pretty closely here in the runup to this tournament who you know brings a different element so you know I think the forwards is position is where Canada is the deepest goal tending you need a a bottle of liquor in a dartboard to figure out what the best way to go there is um and you know I think the blue line is relatively clear-cut I mean obviously there’s it’s never easy one player that you’re leaving off that the first sort of cut could just as easily be on the team and and you know I know both the US and Canada were we kind of hoping they might up the roster size to 25 players from 23 so that they could bring a couple extra players players as they’ll be able to next year at the Olympics but um I think there’s going to be some forwards in particular that’ll get attention for being the the high high-profile snubs as we call them in the media [Music]
