we have some major New York Yankees free agency updates as the New York Yankees are interested in closers such as Tanner Scott and Devin Williams and Kirby Yates and also the team has checked in on Pete Alonzo from the New York Mets and we’re going to see what the New York Yankees continue to do in free agency and we’re going to break it all down so what’s up guys welcome back to Yankees digest now but guys we’re here to talk about baseball and one name specifically has been coming up recently in Tanner Scott who is a free agent that well Aaron Boon appears very interested in as it was recently revealed now as mentioned by Brian hch Aaron Boon spoke highly about free agent reliever t Scott who the Yankees were interested in trading for during the season last year he said that Luke Weaver spot at the closer is not set in stone and also mentioned Clayton beer as an intern as an international as an internal candidate that the club is excited about now on top of that they are also looking externally specifically at some of the other closing options or trade Pursuits all closers in Kirby Yates and T and Devon Williams as two other guys along with Tanner Scott According to Jim Bowden so the New York Yankees are interested in stepping up their closure game that’s become evidently clear and no one more highly sought after than Tanner Scott now Scott is the guy on the market when it comes to closing pitchers and relief pitchers in general so he’s going to it’s going to be a hefty contract the L Tanner Scott but the New York Yankees now have a ton of money available as Juan stto side with the Mets so because of that we are going to see the New York Yankees do a bit of defending in other areas now the Yankees like having good closing pitchers Kay Holmes was great for a little bit before he also signed with the Mets and what we’re seeing now is Scott coming in and potentially being a guy who for the next few years can be a great Yankee closer the Yankees like having good closers in their Bullpen it’s been a staple since before Mariano Rivera they’ve been doing it ever since Mariano they have been doing that also Michael King did it for a bit before being traded for stto Kay Holmes did it for a bit before forgetting how to be a closer and now we’re seeing there be an opening right now for another change in closing pitchers ever since Chapman left there hasn’t been a consistent guy for a few years well Tanner Scott can solve this problem very quickly as he is one of the best closing pitchers if not the best in baseball he’s not Emanuel class probably is but the Yankees did kind of bash him around in the playoffs including Aaron judge so you got to give it to him but Tanner Scott last season between the Miami Marlins and the San Diego go Padres had a 1.75 erra and he was just outright phenomenal for them I mean the whip was over one but he still just such a great pitcher 84 strikeouts nine wins six losses he’s really truly a phenomenal left-handed closer who could come in there he’s been an Allstar and he just fits this team so well he gives you an absolutely elite elite Bullpen arm and the Yankees are known to be interested in pitching they have a few available for trade like Marcus strowman and Nester Cortez with the with the Yankees currently it feels like they have their pitching rotation they obviously have their top three in Garr Cole Max freed and Carlos Ron and we know unless Luis heel gets traded as part of some deal for Kyle Tucker heel will also be there so we are go and then also you have just Clark Schmidt when he’s healthy who could also be involved in a trade I was hesitant to say Schmid and heel because they also are kind of they’re not on the trade block they’re just there’s a world where the Yankees move them but Scott would come in there and give the Yankees more Bullpen help which they could need now Luke Weaver showed a lot of promise we saw some good things out of guys like Jake cousins we’ve seen we’ve seen the fact that the Yankees like Clayton beer as an option but Tanner Scott is that relief pitcher that you could go out there and spend some money on and know that you have a guy to close out games and be downright Elite the Yankees wanted to trade for him at the deadline but didn’t end up acquiring him as he end ended up going to San Diego and now he’s a free agent and the Padre’s probably W him back but we’ve also seen teams like the Dodgers interested in Scott and meanwhile as mentioned we’ve seen the Yankees interested in a few different players I mean Devin Williams a guy who the Yankees also have a lot of interest in last year whip under one 1.25 ER downright disgusting as a relief pitcher Devon Williams is also some of the Yankees two-time All-Star rookie of the year I mean the Yankees will show interest in him also and it also appears that thean yanes are showing interest in journeyman K Kirby Yates who is 37 years old so he would kind of be a bridge closer but will give you a good year if he holds up I mean last season 1.17 ER just absolutely awesome job done and showed that he still got it with the Texas Rangers so we’ll see if maybe he comes over to the Yankees one of these guys there’s a good chance it feels like they’ll go to the Yankees it’s just a matter of figuring out who that guy is but right now what we’re seeing is a New York Yankees team that wants more Bullpen help and very likely could get it now also we have other news to discuss as the New York Yankees apparently are interested or checked in we should say the Yankees have checked in on first Bas Pete Alonzo who is also represented by Scott Boris like Juan SoDo and you just hit this point of well okay I mean look um it’s not like he’s a bad player I don’t want to make it seem like that and I think it’d be funny if the Yankees could sign pet Alonzo because it would be a nice little like just jab at the Mets like hey well now you don’t get Pete Alonzo back which I mean obviously is worth it if you’re getting woto but Alonzo’s been a solid first baseman the Yankees do need a first baseman and though it it feels like Christian Walker is going to be that guy the Yankees did look into pet alzo it doesn’t seem like they have the most interest in the world in Alonzo and probably depends on his price range if the Yankees will even go after him and throw a bit at him but Alonzo will have some interest the Mets are interested in bringing him back you have to imagine he is going to resign with the New York Mets though there’s always a world where he leaves and I imagine that there’s a bunch of teams with interest as Alonzo does have a nice power bat now here’s the thing Pete Alonzo might be a tad bit overrated but he is a very very solid first baseman now last year he had no PS of 788 no PS plus of 123 so obviously an above average player a great home run hitter hit 34 home runs last year batting average at 24 so it’s nothing special the Yankees could use some more contact more than anything right now but the 30-year-old is looking to cash in this is his one chance that he gets to cash in and get some good money in free agency so we’re going to see who pays him now him being a first baseman being 30 years old and not being the same player that he was in his rookie year when he had the best season of his career where like given he’s been an All-Star four times like it’s not like he fell off a cliff after the rookie year he’s a very very talented player he deserves these All-Star games and he’s good I don’t want to make it seem like I don’t think pet Alon is a good player I’m not I promise I’m not an angry Yankees fan I genuinely understand Pete Alonzo is great and if the Yankees signed Alonzo it’s not like I’d be sad I’d be thrilled it gives another great bat onto this team and it’s helpful and it solves the first base problem for the next five years so I’d be thrilled with them signing him it just feels like the Yankees have their SES more set on Christian Walker at this point so it’s probably a lot less likely that will see the New York Yankees sign Alonzo but it is interesting knowing that they have interest in the that’s first baseman that I mean he’ll get a contract somewhere in the 20 to 25 million range I’d imagine unless a team really really wants him and goes all in on him which maybe a team will maybe a team that desperately needs power will go all in on him we could see that happen but it is exciting to note that Pete Alonzo is someone at least on the New York Yankees radar which he totally should be there’s there’s a multi-time All-Star in free agency you’re the Yankees take a look if you don’t like what you see move on go to Christian Walker go some other direction but pet Alonzo does give an exciting bat to the New York Yankees especially after losing one in STO so it would be an interesting signing that being said I don’t think that’s going to happen it’s just something to keep an eye out for and just in general just because it affects the Mets and that affects the Yankees because the Yankees and Mets obviously now rivalry has been renewed by the fact that
