the terries of Boston University in a uh dramatic contrast to the visit of the US national team last season Come Away with a victory 75 over the US NDB TP team and uh asking questions uh Nick you obviously um haven’t got a ton of opportunity this this season so far but I thought you played well tonight seemed like you were flying out there can just kind of talk to me about how you thought you did tonight yeah thank you uh yeah it was good to get uh some opportunity and uh yeah just coach uh relying on me a little bit more was uh good to build some confidence and then obviously playing with the guys on this team it’s it’s pretty easy to get stuff done when when you’re going so a lot of credit to them too just helping me out and supporting me can you talk about the play that you made coming around the net and then um ripping that shot there yeah uh I think it was Mick made a really good up uh from the dzone and I just saw a lot of ice in front of me so I took it and then uh Camille did a great job get to the net same with Gordy drawn guys to the net so I had a lot of ice in front of me and it was pretty easy to get the shot off um Alex two goals for you tonight just talk a little about what you were seeing out there yeah I mean uh this team is amazing so I I got a lot of pucks to work with and yeah I found a found a net today so it was good you guys have kind of a for both of you kind of a long break here um can you just kind of talk to me a little about how you feel like the first half of the season’s gone for the team and what you guys can kind of work on yeah we we still have a lot of work to do not the best first half but I think if we get together as a group where we can do some big things yeah there’s a lot of highs and lows um a lot of good to build off though for the second half and I think these last two games have been uh pretty good for our team and especially that UMass game I think we just build off these good habits and uh keep the flow going um for you Nick um Billy kind of got his first look in there tonight I guess just what what you think of him in there and where like did you say anything to him knowing that he was going in yeah I think the whole team rallies behind Bill a lot like we we’re really excited for him I thought he looked great in that like obviously looked like he belonged out there and we uh we let him down a little bit there at the the end but um yeah we’re all really proud of him and excited for him to get that opportunity he deserves it anything with the players uh for either one of you it’s just in a couple of weeks you know it looks like you’ll you might be minus four of your uh teammates when you play yield was just sort of a nice uh sort of a dress rehearsal or practice run to to play a game without those guys uh yeah I mean a little bit it’s it’s it’s uh you always got to be ready like any opportunity exhibition or guys down so I think it was uh yeah good to get good to get a game in um get some chemistry going with different guys see see what works um what short-handed so yeah I thought it was it was good good test run thanks everyone than guys thank you um yeah those are tough games to play you know especially uh at the end of the um first half I think you know it was it’s an exhibition game but overall I thought there were some good moments in the game for sure I thought were sloppy at times um I thought it was great to get um guys a little bit more ice time that maybe don’t play as much so I thought thought that was a positive I thought some guys played well tonight with with the with the extra ice time my zberg for one uh had a good game um I thought ruk canakis skated well uh I don’t think he ended up getting that goal but did a great job moving his feet he’s a big body um hard to contain when he’s moving um so overall it was good to see some some other guys get some time um you had quite a few players at the lineup where they all just scratches or you know what’s the case with all those players well the poor guys going to World Juniors there there’s makes zero sense to play in this game um you know it the risk is not worth the reward in this game at all these guys are going and have an opportunity to represent their country um in a great tournament so it it didn’t make any sense for these guys to play today and Kaplan was just maintenance um so that was the reason behind that that’s why it’s tough at this point of year this point of the season um having this exhibition game but it was but like I said it was great for guys to get an opportunity that don’t play as much you mentioned it briefly but rakis you obviously mention he a big body but also seems pretty fast as well you just talk a little about more you offer ton yeah when he moves his feet um he’s tough to contain because he he’s a big body he’s um he can skate by guys and once he gets to step on a guy it’s tough to contain him he’s he’s heavy he’s uh he can get to the net um I thought in the first period he he wasn’t skating as much as he started to skate in the second and he got rewarded because of it so it was good to see that from him and then you got you got Billy in there in the third I guess talk about what was like for him there yeah I thought Max was really good in the especially the first I think we gave up 16 shots and he was great so he he got a good amount of work so I thought it was a good opportunity for us to to get Billy in there he he he works really hard for for our team uh every day does a lot of extra with guys so um it was great to see him I thought he did a heck of a job you could be minus you know as many as four of those guys when you when you play yeld was this kind of a nice setup for that to sort of figure out how things might look in a couple weeks yeah that was another opportunity um yeah I would I would suspect that we’re not going to have those four guys for Yale um so again it was good to look at some line combinations um before that some different D pairs um you know there’ll be two D out that play a lot of minutes for us so it was good to get some guys uh some reps tonight um so that’s yeah it was important that way uh green machance and caponi were on the top line tonight I thought they looked pretty pretty they were flying out there just tled about what you saw from them tonight uh yeah I thought they were good um you know they’re all veteran guys so and sometimes for the veteran guys it’s even harder to play in those games uh against some young kids and um I thought they played well together uh it was an opportunity for me to see Jack Hughes back in the middle of the ice um he’s in been probably more of a natural Center throughout most of his career we’ve used him more in the wing the last couple years I thought I moved him around the lineup quite a bit versus UMass last game he was playing Center and both wing and I thought he looked really good in the middle he can make plays he’s smart player um so it was an opportunity to see him in the middle tonight as well um on Wednesday you mentioned how you guys played direct and and it went well how do you think you guys did in that area tonight um how how we did playing direct like um was it a continuation from wednes there you think you guys kind of went back to um it I I don’t want to overthink anything from this game um we won so that’s the positive I’m going to take out of it positive was to get guys um ice time that don’t get a lot of ice time that’s kind of what the goal of this game was it was nice to win we’ve I think we’ve lost the last two years against I and last year we lost it was not pretty so um it was important that we won but important to get guys reps I thought that was um really important first weekend in January I think you guys or off was that part of the thinking that you might have quite a few guys over World Juniors yeah that’s that’s always part of the scheduling around that time um I think we we typically have at least a couple going to World Juniors like probably four this year and um yeah you want to kind of keep the schedule light uh that time of year not not a lot of games cuz I think it goes all the way till January 6th if I’m not mistaken um yeah so we’ll we’ll play the one game against Yale and then uh won’t play again until the 10th and everyone will be back so yeah we have quite a long break here and then kind of when you guys get back you have the yell game and then you have three weekends or like six games back to back in hockey and just what do you want to see from this team in terms of development before you hit that kind of rough rough competitive stretch of games yeah I think we went through a lot this first half um a lot of ups and downs um so hopefully we learned a lot from from this first half and and that’s when the season really picks up when you get into January you know you start playing League games you start playing back toback every weekend um so for us it’s about consistency in our game uh discipline is probably been the common theme this first half where it has not been very good so that’s something that we have to be better at in the second half if we want to have success um it you know it it wasn’t a good recipe the first half with how many penalties we took we never I don’t think we really fully got into a rhythm as a team um there was good moments there was some great come from behind winds um but overall the consistency and the discipline is going to have to be better um if we want to do some damage in the second half you touched on the first line uh you touched on the first line earlier but just Capon in particular how you seen his game grow in the course of the first half season yeah I thought he’s he’s been a made a huge impact for us um especially the last I’d say eight games seven eight games um probably new team um new program took him a little bit to get comfortable uh but I think he’s really come on strong um so I think he’s felt more comfortable um yeah he he’s been very good for us lately and I expect that he’s going to have a great second half thanks
