πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ Transcript:

in today’s video we have all kinds of NHL news and rumors to take a look at today’s Rumor Mill focusing on trades around teams like Detroit Carolina Vancouver and buffalo we have more activity from the NHL waiver wire including another claim this time involving the Minnesota Wild plus we have a fine from NHL player safety several injury updates as well as a former head coach making his return with Hockey Canada and a former NHL goalie looking to make a return from the KHL a lot more coming up next so welcome back to another video here at top sha Haw kids I mentioned we have lots to discuss here today all kinds of news and some trade roomers to take a look at here in a few minutes time first up we got a pretty busy day again from the NHL waiver wire more activity uh notable here around the league of course another claim and more players on waivers today so of course we saw yesterday that the Oilers had placed a left shot defenseman Travis dermit on waivers he was picked up by the Minnesota Wild coincidentally the Oilers were playing uh Minnesota last night uh in Minnesota and of course thumped them pretty good uh of course the wild are now without two of their top four left shot defenseman or two of their left shot defenseman in their top six is what I meant to say uh including Middleton who went down last night they’re already without broin uh it was believed that we saw there was reports from uh reporters in the building that you could see Wild management kind of getting together and um you know discussing what might be going down like you know a way to bring in a defense that’s kind of what was speculated and they pull that off here of course Derm would be handy to pick up and be easy to get into their organization into their lineup cuz he would have been in Minnesota with Edmonton already so uh he goes from Edmonton to Minnesota we have two players on waivers from the Islanders with Oliver walstrom and Pierre engal of course engal had been on waivers previously he’s got a long-term contract it’s not working out not producing so he’s not going to get picked up I’d be shocked if he did uh given the long-term um money and time on his contract that’s probably just not happening at all walstrom on the other hand’s only signed for this year just around a million dollars so um you never know I mean he’s due for a fresh start I think he’s overdue for probably about a year to two years on that um you know former first round pick that came into the league with a a lot of high hopes and has not fulfilled them said I’ve been saying for a long time that I think he just needs a FR start doesn’t mean it’s going to he’s going to figure it out and put it together somewhere else but there’s definitely teams out there looking for scoring maybe he gets picked up on you know short-term cheaper contract to be given an opportunity we’ll have to wait and see at the very least the Islanders are closer to getting guys like duclair and barcel back and they can bear these guys in the miners and get over $2 million in available cap space so either way it helps uh their situation if these are players that are not really producing anyway so we’ll see um what happens on that tomorrow lots of injury updates we saw the maple Lees lose gender Anthony stolar last night of course not something you want to see um of course wasn’t really clear in what happened uh Joseph Wall come out to play the second period as I had stated before both great goalies both playing well my biggest concern for both of them is their injury history and you hope that they can overcome that and stolar has done pretty good the last few years um now the belief out of Toronto today and we haven’t got an official update or confirmation but word around the team is that it’s nothing too serious and that he won’t be out too long they have recalled Dennis hild Toby uh cuz he will miss a little bit of time but no clear answer on the exact amount but it sounds like it’s probably not going to be a long-term thing which is good cuz he’s been really really solid for them this year a bunch of other updates around the league we talked yesterday about the fact that Jack jury had a a hand injury we knew he’s going to miss some time uh the can’s updated things today saying he actually required a surgery on his hand and he’s going to be out for at least a few weeks so we’re going to say two to three weeks for right now um but you know it could drag into January that you know a little bit it’s hard to say uh cuz they they were kind of vague on their timelin to be honest they just said a few weeks and a few usually means two to three so we’ll see we’re going to wait and see what happens with Evan buard uh the ERS defenseman was um I don’t know to me with no good reason shoved by Ryan Hartman last night in the Minnesota game well after the game was out of hand on the scoreboard unnecessarily shoved and he went hard into the goal post uh he did appear to be hurt left the game didn’t return and uh we know he’s is being evaluated we don’t know if he’s going to miss time or where things stand but another key member of the Oilers that could be out for a while now and as I mentioned Jake Middleton in that same game was injured in the very first shift I heard his hand they already announced he’s going to be a long-term injur Reserve so that’s certainly not good for his recovery he’s going to be out for at least you know probably at least a month so we’ll have to see now in Chicago we got word today they’ve recalled Frank nazzer of course he’s leading the American hawk league in rookie scoring right now so nice to see him get an opportunity here the otta wild Senators today recalled forward Cole Reinhardt not sure if he’s going to get into the lineup or not I know they’re in Carolina today for a road game it’s the only game on the NHL schedule tonight and I I’m not sure if he’s kind of coming as reinforcements because the last game did see Zach stop chock uh kind of leave late into the third period he had an awkward uh fall into the boards and left kind of looked like he might have heard the shoulder so we haven’t heard anything uh the update from the team earlier was sounded like o stop Che was going to play but wouldn’t be shocked if we found out that he was pulled out last minute or something either way Reinhardt is back up with the with the big club and the Red Wings announced this morning that cam talat reaged his lower body injury as swe sometime goalies just can’t stay healthy uh Talbot has been up and down with injuries a lot the last few years uh but he was out he came back and then practice this morning reagg gravat a lower body injury so he’s going to be out for a bit we don’t know an exact timeline yet Alex lion is still out of course uh he’s going to be out until at least probably mid to late next week and uh because of that they’ve recalled are expected to recall Sebastian kosa Philly huso was expected to get the start I believe the Red Wings are playing I think Toronto tomorrow uh the Calgary Flames goalie Dan vladar also considered day to-day as well and they’ve recalled Devin gouie uh so another goalie that we’re going to talk about here actually is somebody who’s formerly uh from the NHL had a good Junior career uh with the uh Halifax moose heads had a good decent run with Hockey Canada in his Junior days as well but Zack fuk who never really established himself as a full-time starting NHL goal tuner he had some spurts where he was uh in the NHL for for longer stretches I know his time in Washington was probably his longest stretch most successful but he’s been playing over in Russia the past couple years and arguably been the uh the top goalie over there in the KHL Kevin weeks is reporting today that fuk and his agent are looking at trying to figure out uh the logistics and the getting a contract to make an NHL return uh gold Enders can be late bloomers very much so they quite often are the the latest age to kind of figure things out and kind of get themselves established to be a pro hockey player so you know could fical come back and be an impact player in the NHL next year it’s possible at the very least even if he turned out to be a serviceable backup who could give a team a 500 record with a 900 save percentage even that is pretty good and something that not all teams are getting with today’s goal tending so uh fali will probably get some interest I’m sure considering how well he’s played in the KHL last year and this year uh so be curious to see obviously as we get closer to the end of this year we’ll be more likely when things heat up and he’s able to have more conversations with teams and whatnot and if things work out he’ll be back in North America playing next fall now another former uh well-respected NHL coach Gerard galance making his return behind the bench except it’s not of course in the NHL his latest gig is going to be with Hockey Canada is going to be the head coach for the team going over for the Spangler cup so of course we’ve seen another experienced coach and cl Julian get the same sort of gig before um before he made his return he’s now an assistant with St Louis of course galant’s been a head coach numerous times had lots of success but he’s one of those coaches that seems to you know couple years and he’s out type of deal um so we’ll see what this leads to but obviously this tells us he still wants the coach still very much uh very much want to be involved to the game we’ll see if it leads to anything further a few items from Elliot Freeman’s 32 thoughts blog and podcast that came out today uh one to Buffalo Sabres we know the sabes are again on a major losing streak uh he’s saying that Dylan cousins is drawing a lot of attention around the league we know the Sabers are having lots of conversations that obviously Kevin Adams is out there trying to figure out a way to shake things up but I think they want to be careful as we’ve talked about before we’ve seen way too many players in recent history the Buffalo Sabers leave that team and go on to have tremendous success somewhere else look no further than guys like Jack eichel and Sam Reinhardt who are both now Stanley Cup Champions on different franchises they’ve gone through a lot in their tenure I mean look at uh this long rebuild and what is it 14 years now it’s the longest uh streak in Pro Sports I believe without having a playoff appearance um you know it’s it’s tough in Buffalo right now and they like I said when you’re when you’re not winning um teams are going to be circling and looking at your good players and trying to get their their hooks in pull them away from you and like said they’ve done it numerous other times now some other guys like eichel was a completely different scenario player like Reinhardt was clearly about the fact that he was unhappy with the team Direction and thought it was best that he move on um and of course you know we don’t know how these players feel but the team needs to be careful like I said they’ve moved away a lot of talented players that have gone on to do good things elsewhere and this team has been struggling for so long to get in the playoffs I feel terrible for this fan base who’ve been waiting for you for playoffs forever and you know if they make a move or two that sets them back that’s just going to be that much worse um but Dylan cousins is drawing a ton of attention around the league you can imagine why he’s a good siiz right shot Center who’s shown in the passes the ability to play uh smart game be creative uh play driver he can score like there’s lots to really like about cousins game and I know he’s not having a great great season right now but there’s no reason to think that he can’t refine that and uh you know certainly take off with the right coaching new linemates new scenery what have you right so uh there’s definitely teams that are are talking and checking in and trying to see what they can do um but again the word is at of Buffalo is that they’re being cautious and as much as they want to shake things up and try to ignite the team they don’t want to see any more players leave to have that level of success elsewhere without them being able to really benefit from the move as well which is very very tough to do uh in Vancouver we know that they’re been building on some things they get some players back recently with Miller’s return last night we saw Demco come back a few days ago uh they’re getting closer to being the the full flavored Vancouver connects that we thought we’d have at the beginning of the season and they are working on some moves I know one name that is reportedly out there according to Elliot Freeman we’ve heard this thing before but he says that they’re really trying to find a a better fit for him and that’s right shot defenseman V de her who they signed as a UFA this summer to a two-year deal I think there’s a chance he might have stayed nton if he would have taken a one-year deal um but he got more money in term from the Canucks and for a player who hadn’t had a chance to really make a lot of money yet he can understand why he would have went but kind of lost that fit uh I don’t know if there’s any desire to bring him back at Edmonton but we know there’s lots of teams looking for a right shot defenseman he’s got lots of size I know for a stretch of last year with Evon he was good in a penalty kill not you know somebody who’s got a ton of experience he’s a bit of a late blooming defenseman but uh we’ll see if Vancouver can uh find a way to to move him to a team that might be able to be a better fit and give him more of an opportunity cuz things are just not working out they’re in Vancouver and there is some speculation Vancouver might be working on some bigger moves but we don’t really know for sure lots to talk about Brock besser whether or not he’ll sign or get moved I think that the conects are in no hurry to make that decision uh especially now they just got JT Miller back who besser often plays with got a goal last night I think they want to see what they have here with everybody healthy before they really make anything too major but if you look at lot they did last year picking up Elias Lindholm speaking of which he actually got hurt last night for the Bruins and their loss to the Kraken I’m not sure if he’s going to be out or not uh so another note to add to the injuries from earlier but certainly Vancouver uh you know they’re in a good spot in the standings I think they probably thought they’d be further ahead but at the same time you know they can’t really complain I think with with everything that they’ve been through adversity wise with Demco being out they lost Miller for a month they’ve had some other injuries up and down like you know it’s not um they haven’t really had their whole team so I suspect that even though there’s been Rumblings but a bigger move out of Vancouver I’d be surprised if it happens super quick I think it’s going to be a little while yet Carolina lots of word that they’re still looking for a gending upgrade uh to really stabilize the spot with all the injuries and everything they’ve dealt with there with Freddy Anderson being out for an extended time um you know lots of word that they were very much in on Blackwood who went to Colorado and the name to watch now according to Elliot Freeman is John Gibson he says that Gibson is has been tied to Carolina multiple times in the past it’s one of those things that you know like he’s he kind of described as people that kind of got flirtiness but you know they never get together and wondering if it’s finally going to be time uh there’s a point on now we’re at a point with Gibson’s contract that it’s a lot easier to trade um Carolina had some interesting pieces there that might Intrigue the Ducks hard to say we know that Gibson is very much open to going as well so uh that will certainly be another scenario to keep an eye on I think Gibson I think the odds of them finally moving are much better and to me it makes all the sense in the world to Carolina just might be that team but we’ll have to see and see how that plays out and I also was looking at an article I found interesting today on daily face off from Anthony DeMarco looking as has the iser plan failed in Detroit and is Dylan Lin going to be one of those captains that goes down with the ship or at some point is he going to want to move on uh you know Dylan Lin is born raised in Michigan he’s always played there went through uh you know University of Michigan got draft by the Red Wings has always played with Detroit never really had to leave home um so you know he knows what it’s like more than just about anybody to to play at home and to do it for an extended period of time we’ve never really heard anything about Larin wanting to leave uh so I’d be surprised uh if he ever did say you know what I want to I want to go he’s still young enough that there’s time for them to get it together there um you know like the article makes mention of like a young clo daru who got over the got the captaincy in Philadelphia uh as a team team was kind of transitioning into a a new group and then kind of experienced some very much some highs and lows there but you know even then they get into the playoffs more whereas Detroit’s now on a pretty good streak of missing so you know just kind of wondering have eisman’s had this plan for so long and has it failed and honestly I think it has I think that team and how it’s constructed is is not good they definitely need some changes there but the problem is and has this article explains is that you got to be careful you can’t just all of a sudden now after all this time tear it right down to this you know to the Bare Bones here like you just you can’t right I mean they have some good young pieces there they just don’t have enough uh and they don’t have all the veterans that they’ve brought in to kind of try to accelerate things a lot of them have not worked out even look this year even Patrick kees not not to the level he was last year tereno hasn’t produced at a high level you know cop wasn’t a good signing um you know confer has been okay but not great like there’s a lot of guys that they brought in trying to upgrade things move things along and it hasn’t worked and you know I think Derek Lon is definitely on the hot seat I’d be surprised if he you know goes too much further if the losing continues you have to start to wonder at what point is is ownership going to be questioning Steve Eiserman you know he’s been there a long time and hasn’t really made any progress really like significantly when it comes to the standings and whatnot you know I I know obviously some talk about this article kind of talks a bit about lurker like I said but I don’t think we really have any reason to think he wants to go anywhere but that’s going to be the question like we’ve heard a lot about Brady kachuck and Ottawa it’s the same thing there you know he’s Captain he’s signed long term he’s obviously very competitive guy wants to win not getting it done at what point do they want out and what point are they content to be like this is my team I’m not leaving like I want to win here um so you know at the same time though with Eiserman he’s had way longer at the helm than Ottawa after going through an ownership change and GM change just in the past year so ER plan is definitely failing for sure but how do you fix it it’s a tough call all these veterans that they’re just not working out and really what do you do there let me know what you think what does Detroit need to do to really change things um and what options do they really have let me know down in the comments we’ll discuss further if you’re new to the channel of course make sure you subscribe and stick around we’ll keep you up to date with the latest news rumors and Analysis of all 32 NHL teams thanks for watching I’ll catch you next time [Music]
