bra after uh Missing uh two games nine days uh away what uh how did you feel mentally physically uh the foot everything just kind of going into this game uh I felt pretty good um you know it’s very rare throughout a course of a season where you can take advantage of a of a schedule and um I was able to do that over the past week was the energy where you wanted it to be yeah it was it was uh it was where I wanted it to be you know defensively um JJ praised you guys you individually as well especially Max he was kind of looking for that fifth guy to to fit uh talk about Max’s performance tonight no he was great I mean um you know Jay’s kind of been like I was seeing who could uh be that fifth guy alongside me ruy and AR and AD so max came in tough assignment with J obviously the head of the snake and I thought he did a great job of just trying to make it tough on him he also uh contribut on the offensive end too once you guys were eliminated from the the cup like this part of the schedule kind of came together and and shook out um can you kind of take us to the timeline is like when you saw it as an opportunity and how that how your foot played a role in that decision um probably the Saturday after the Hawks game um you know um felt it felt my foot felt my body um you know after the after that Hawks game after that last road trip and um you know I did my pregame workout on that Sunday for the Portland game and um you know decided that it was probably best that I probably take that game off and then looking you know forward to the schedule we didn’t play again till Friday in Minnesota um but if I had an opportunity to take more days and get my mind body my mind body and everything just you know where I wanted it to be for tonight you know and it worked out I think in your next game you’re going to play more reg minutes than anybody else has ever played in this game um mentally what do it Tak and I guess even how valuable is Seven Days forget the foot like just for yeah I mean it’s it’s it’s very rare I mean to be honest you can uh get a break in in the schedule like that and uh so uh it was a very you know easy decision for myself and for the team and for uh for my my trainer to be able to take advantage of those days just for everything and uh you know so it was great what what did you do to you know the time to P back and do something uh a lot of rehabbing a lot of training still so I made sure that I was ready to go tonight you know so didn’t want to get too much out of shape you mentioned your minded by in the past has said like you’ll do this as long as you have kind of Bu from both uh has has this been mentally taxing it all this season um just being at this stage of your career and trying to bring everything together with this group no different from any other year um it’s always a you know season is always a you know could be a mine uh I know the word I want to use I’m not going to use but to get it but um every year has his own challenges and uh this this year no difference somebody who wants to play in all 82 what point does it get for you to say okay I I’ve got to listen my body here and I get I listen more than just myself because if it was just up to me I probably would have played in that Portland game and I’m not sure if ID have played in the Minnesota game but it have been hard to keep me you know away from it so um I have a team and um you know I got to listen to them as well they got they look out for my best interest while you were while you were with bronnie um had a 30-point game in the G League M had another strong game uh after that um were you able to watch the 30-point game at all I watch both of them and what was that like to see him kind of break out in that way and what was your message to him kind of after I just keep stacking the days keep putting in the work um the work always uh Prevail at the end of the day it’s just it’s just great to see him getting back into the flow getting back to his game getting back to you know him just playing free and going out and just playing the game he loves and know how to play so um I love his aggressiveness you know he was aggressive from the beginning in both games all the way up until the end so um and he did a short minutes um you know on both sides of the floor what was his reaction to how well he did did left I don’t know I’m not I’m not sure I wasn’t with him so um but I know he would like to have those wins more importantly but I think um you know him playing the way he played I think he probably proud of himself as he should Beall this past week for you to what extent do you feel like that injury is behind you versus it’s still no it’s an everyday thing no it’s not behind me it’s a everyday thing it’s some something that’s been lingering for the last few years so um but I was able to to do a lot of great things um to to reassure not only that but I got need you know in the quad and in the Atlanta game at the end of the at the end of regulation by ad so that’s now back to 100% um but that was um over probably a few like 3 days ago was still uh pretty sore and and but I’m I’m able to get that back to 100 so that was great so I was able to heal a lot of other elements as well that stretch uh in the first quarter where you know get the dunk and then the block and then the tip and after that was that sort of just like all right like Rhythm everything starting to feel can do it um yeah I mean it just you know I just try to make it impact when I’m on the floor and uh you know do things that uh they try to help us win so on both sides of the floor and uh you know AR was able to find me in transition I got the dunk and then was able to chase down and then you know try to throw threw it up ahead to uh to to ruy um and just you don’t don’t never give home plays even though he’s a great finisher I just try to track it down just in case and I was able to get the tip in so on the egg RS man and I’m serious about that man get your chicken man I’m I’ve been I’ve been going since uh 84 man don’t go to sleep on those egg roll especially after you leave the club time to go back inside the Lakers black room ad is speaking with gater in the media what’s up Lakers Nation welcome back to Lakers news Squad today we’re diving into some major reactions surrounding head coach JJ reck despite the early season struggles redic is earning praise from an important voice in Lakers history former Lakers Champion Michael Thompson let’s break it all down the Lakers have’t exactly started the season the way fans had hoped currently they’re sitting lower in the Western Conference standings than expected several players have struggled to meet expectations especially at the point guard position naturally much of the blame has fallen on firsttime head coach JJ reic coaching a team with superstars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis comes with immense pressure and every loss as especially against weaker opponents invites heavy criticism but not everyone is ready to throw in the towel on reic in a recent interview on don’t at me with Dan Dage Michael Thompson a beloved figure in Lakers lore offered a strong endorsement of reck’s coaching I like him because he’s not afraid to challenge his players I see him getting the face of everybody on the team from LeBron right down to to the 15th man he challenges this team he’s not afraid to be a Greg papovich type coach or Pat Riley and demand accountability he doesn’t back down from anybody M call Thompson Thompson believes reck’s fiery and demanding coaching style is exactly what the Lakers need he also acknowledged that reck is learning on the job but believes he’s doing a good job despite some painful losses this is just his first go around I think he’s learning on the job and doing a good job we’re 1311 the team has since lost another game and we’ve blown some games we should have won but that comes with experience I like the way he coaches and how he’s unafraid to challenge these guys Mall Thompson hearing this from a former Lakers Champion carries serious weight Thompson knows what it takes to win in LA and his support could inspire patience among Lakers fans reck’s tough love approach seems to have earned respect within the locker room even if results have been mixed so far looking ahead the Lakers still have time to turn things around with potential trade assets like D’Angelo Russell’s contract adjustments can still be made if reic keeps pushing the team and learning from his mistakes he could become a long-term coaching success in Los Angeles many fans already seem to prefer his approach over the previous coaching regime what do you think Lakers Nation do you agree with Mikel Thompson’s take on JJ reck is he the right coach for the Lakers or do you think changes need to be made drop your thoughts in the comments below and don’t forget to hit that like button subscribe for more Lakers updates
