yes everybody welcome back to talking walls welcome back to a brand new match preview on the channel hope you guys are keeping well and safe we are here for the match preview ahead of wolver Hampton wonders versus IP switch town at molu this weekend another huge game for wolves it feels like we’re having to say every week or so now uh but it is another must-win for wolves a point won’t really do either side any favors and wolves really need three points but some big news from Gary O’Neal’s press conference which I’ll get into shortly my thoughts and of course we’ll have the opposition pre-match press conference is that Mario laminina is no longer the captain of all the Hampton wonders the new captain of the club is now Nelson SEO um I was actually told this news yesterday and really wasn’t sure what what to believe uh to be honest and Gary O’Neil has confirmed it as of today and it is pretty much following uh the situation that we saw uh during the aftermath of the West Ham United game his reaction just wasn’t the sort of reaction that you would expect from a captain and I think walls really needed to sort of set that example um it’s a mutual decision Gary oil had a conversation with Mari Laina apparently um and I think mentally it was obviously you know making life difficult for Mario so hopefully now he’s sort of got that pressure off and we can start to see the Mario that we’ve seen before this season for the last sort of 12 to 18 months that we saw before the 2425 campaign um going into this game though again two of players that aren’t available Jose S out um Pablo Sarabia is still not back either xia Gomez is going to be suspended um so a little bit of tinkering for Gary O’Neil to do I think and I’ve said it a couple of times to to whip swi fans this week I still feel that O’Neal does not know what his best 11 is um his best shape I don’t know his best 11 I don’t know um he’s having to chook a few things around things have changed but something’s just still not clicking and of course we’ have spoken about it a couple of times already uh this week on the channel um the club have made it clear that Gary O’Neal is going to be the manager for the foreseeable future that’s pretty much because they can’t find anybody uh to take over and that’s probably because of the conditions that a new head coach would be working under in regards to the self- sustainable model however Gary O’Neal in his pre-match press conference today is said January will be different and by that you probably think that wolves are going to spend a bit of money so you’re chuing a bit of money more than likely on Gary O’Neal when you wouldn’t Chu a bit of money on on another head coach which is really really strange unless he meant by that it’s going to be different and they’re going to be bringing in sort of experienced Pros rather than younger sort of up and cominging players that we saw a little bit more of uh last summer just gone so very interesting in terms of sort of a lineup for Wars I’m really not too sure how Gary O’Neal is going to approach this game because certainly uh you know Johnston will start in goal you’ll still see the likes of K stran lson there’s decisions to be had with who starts in the Midfield there’s decisions to be had who starts at the back as well um I really wouldn’t be surprised to maybe see someone like hang come in and start which I wouldn’t be fully against a bit more going forward I think a hang yor strand Larson K front three um the go over Midfield three maybe if Tommy D to come in alongside Mario L and Andre possibly and then a flatb for you know with Sam eight Nori and then the two Center hards you probably go with totty and Bueno again maybe maybe eight Nori could be pushed further forward so you have totty at left back and bring Dawson back in after he he was left out against West Ham um lot of lot of options there to be had for Gary O’Neil I am quite intrigued to see how he lines up but like I said at the start this is crucial for wolves this is a relegation and I can’t believe I’m saying that you know WS are in this relegation battle we very much are we’re coming towards the midpoint of the Season we’ve only got nine points than we sat in the bottom three wolves need to win this game to make sure they Leap Frog Gip switch and start to put pressure on those teams above them again if wolves can win this weekend we beat Leicester next weekend the table all of a sudden looks a completely different for wolves going into the sort of January period these are two winnable games two must-win games for wolves and Gary O’Neal but uh let’s get the ipswitch perspective I spoke to Martin yesterday to get his thoughts on ipswitch Town and what we can expect from McKenna side this weekend so then delighted to welcome Martin onto the channel to get the IP switch Town perspective ahead of Saturday’s game Martin thanks for jumping on how you been keeping man yeah I’m I’m well thank you yeah I’m really good really excited to see what this weekend brings really yeah it’s a big game for both teams really I mean you asked me on there we did a preview on your channel as well and asked if it was a must win which I think it certainly is for Wars Ipswich are you know you know pretty much level on points Awards is this where you guys were expecting to be throughout the season really sort of in and around these sort of places and obviously for your sake hopefully escaping relegation come the end of the campaign yeah it really depends on who you ask to to to be honest some were were overly optimistic and were saying mid-table one or two were going even more optimistic and thinking back to the to the last time we were in the Premier League where some of us would just if you offered it right now 17th would take it you know off a survival that’s all we want uh so are we where where we thought we’d be on nine points out of 15 games V majority probably not but you know we are around the bottom three which is where where I think most people had us throughout the season and just hopefully come come May staying above that that line yeah it’s I mean I I just quickly looked at some of your results and it’s I think you’ve uh you get in any League really but you’ve sort of truly experienced proper Premier League with you beating Spurs drawing to Manchester United and then losing to Palace forest and and and Bournemouth so it’s um been an up and down campaign for you guys so far but what have you made of it in terms of the quality of football that Swit have been up against but the quality of football that you guys have been putting out on display as well yeah it’s was great to be back back inside the Premier League you know the quality is there it’s it’s the elite level it’s the best league in the world we often so so often here except V that’s not the best of anything um but we’ve been in every single game and and I know it’s it’s almost like you’re saying it to be optimistic and and just give yourself a ra speech but we have been in in every single game or most games outside of West Ham and man city um you know we should have taken at least a point away at brenford which is brenford a solid Premier League side but we’re not getting blown away four or five new a week you know we’re there or there about sat last Sunday leading for eight minutes then Bournemouth do what Bournemouth have done not you know time and time again this year and that’s grab two goals inside four minutes I think it was and and still a win not steal a win cuz they were very good but you know take the win away from us and it’s just it’s fine margins you know we’ve had the ball hit the post and bats the wrong way we’ve had V decisions go against us players out of form players you know adap in and learning at this level um but yeah it’s it’s quality to watch you know you have to pinch yourself particularly after the journey we’ve been on you know before even going to League one we were Championship benchmarkers if you like people used to Benchmark themselves against well if you finish by Vi switch you’re going to finish probably at least you know 10th upwards or 14 upwards you know we were the The Gatekeepers of the championship if you like you know then we dropped into League one so just to be back inside the Premier League it is it is nice it is special yeah I mean look again like youve said you’ve been remaining competitive I think a lot of people probably had you guys as Rock Bottom uh yourselves or Southampton Southampton are struggling but you know you you remaining competitive and that’s why it’s quite an intriguing game going into Saturday because of how poor walls have been I think IP switch can certainly cause uh problems for walls but this week and like I mentioned to you earlier on we’ve got Leicester next week these are two games that walls really need to be getting uh points out of who are the players Martin that walls need to be looking out for who’s sort of really kicked on forp swi so far this season well first of all you know the lap up front he’s been Sensational since he arrived nothing short of Sensational anyway you know got Danny Murphy on Match of the day previously calling him a Harry Kane successor um which I’m don’t not quite sure if if if that’s the reason why we’ve had a little bit of diping form from the lap since then since then I don’t don’t think he scored some someone might sound wrong on that but fairly confident saying since Danny mury said that so cheers Danny he Ain scored a goal um yeah he should have scored against man united but was you know great Saves by by their goalkeeper but thep is one it really will bully your your s of half he try to he feeds off the off energy and passion and he’s just really s of almost old fashioned Center forward you know he’s he’s he’s strong he likes the physical battle but he’s great with his feet so he’s got that modern ability about him well he’s great with his feet great with back to go goal will fashion his own chances go and check out the nil nil away at Brighton where he gets the ball the on the edge of the the center circle turns the defender creates a chance himself charges 10 15 yards unleashes a shot hits the bar he’s been making his own chances yeah finishing well um but he has been looking tired recently outside of that there in lies a bit of a problem for sown that the players behind him you really could change them week by week and you wouldn’t really see that much of a difference um because no one’s really in form you got you got you have got schox who has scored a good number of goals for a player stepping up um and he is probably one that you would miss and would notice but outside of that you could say well you could play chaplain or Hutchinson or or Burns or Broadhead and who hasn’t really played that much broad here to be fair to him um but but you you get my point the lack of form is a big issue behind that well is for me anyway um and leaf Davis assist King of the championship at one point I don’t know if he still is head of V ahead of Alexander Arnold for big chance Creations is quality player don’t don’t understand why he’s not in the England squad I I we know we’ve got a left back crisis apparently and you’ve got one that he could he could have been in the um was it Theos that we had in the summer I had him in the US I was demanding he was be put in there but I understand I don’t understand why he’s not you know even for a few friendlies just given the opportunity to you know to get his feet wet at Camp level you know but hey he’s not yeah Kieran McKennon obviously he was a big talk point during the summer and you guys managed to to keep hold of him uh in the end are you not concerned as such but you know are there going to be big suitors you think in the future even if you guys you know do do go down as well I mean we saw it with Vincent cley ended leing Burley who got got relegated as the manager of Bayern Munich you know K Kieran McKenna obviously has got a lot of Suits there some big clubs after him do you think his long-term future does lie with IP switch town or is going to be elsewhere I hope it it lies with VI Town um but you you do feel particularly after you know company did get that move to Bayern Munich off the back of a relegation that perhaps you know clubs don’t view relegation as as much anymore as a as a roadblock as the as the reasons why we can’t um if we feel he’s the right man with the right philosophy and the right way you know right Vision uh it used to be relegation was almost a a big big roadblock on a CV um for particularly for a manager but yeah I want it to be a dip switch I’m I’m not I wouldn’t be surprised if we re got relegated or even stay in the division perhaps you know having just one promotion there was three clubs after him so even just staying in the league doesn’t mean you’re going to be guaranteed keeping him but he has signed a long-term contract I understand that but football’s football and contracts well you know we’ve seen don’t mean lot don’t mean much do they but I I want him to say you know and I really hope and pray his long-term future is with us you know stay staying up or or being ricated you either way yeah you guys have you picked up a couple of players in the summer you spent a decent amount of money which you know which I think you had to to try and get your squad up to the next level but couple of players at walls are linked with as well I think the couple of the Defenders Dar I think and Jacob Greaves how how they both be getting on for you so far this season Dar Ro Shay is just fantastic Center half he’s growing week week in week out um really commanding Center half and someone I really enjoy watching having played that position myself or beit at Sunday morning level I can appreciate sent half on I see one Jacob GRE started the season well was was learning the Premier League you know obviously O’s been here before gavves I don’t believe hadn’t hadn’t hadn’t been here before so he was developing and learning then he got injured yeah um and since his injury cam Burg is a step back in who’s been with us since League one and he’s been absolutely immense and and the pair of them OA and burges have just formed this partnership where out of nowhere it’s one of the real strengths of our of our team um so he I mean s that GRE may play may play Saturday and I’ll be you know but I would be surprised if burges doesn’t start having been M of the match last week um so but gries is a good player and he’s got he’s a left foot center half and he he’ll go on to be a great player and one of these players you see in the News That’s sent you know so so with big money because he’s a lefts side of Center half um and they’re very rare you know these days quality ones yeah yeah the on the ones that can play with the ball at their feet um you know they’re rare so he he he’ll go to be a great player uh and then you know looking forward to the January Windows well is there any business any more business there yeah what where where do you guys need to strengthen do you think well you we sit second from bottom you you arguably could say a number of positions but one one of them certainly has to be the center forward position and that’s not because the lap hasn’t done it it’s because if know 60 minutes when the LA’s run his race we haven’t got anybody coming on who can play the same style as the lap can can do what the lap does and he’s really you know looking for Te Improv weeks because it’s all on him now it’s all on the lab we need that little bit of help we chased several Strikers in the summer um some from the continent some that were already English clubs didn’t bring anybody in um So currently because of an injury to George Hurst our our understudy to to the lap Ali Al Hamed was playing League 2 football this time last year with theyy wimon um you know and it’s just that big step up for him um when really he probably should be out you know on loan um getting confidence getting goals developing ready to come back and make that battle uh so we set it forward for sure without a doubt yeah I do I’m interested I think as somebody like Evan Ferguson which I think a lot of walls fans probably would be interested in as well and and maybe even AP switch as well because I know Brighton Ora tooning him out but the thing is with the lap and obviously we’ve got strand lson I assume Brighton will want Ferguson playing as many games or starting as many games as possible so I think it’s quite a tricky signing maybe to make but i’ be intrigued I think certainly could see him at switch maybe uh you know lead in the line as well um it’s it’s going to be a big game Martin I mean IP switch a lost three on the bounce walls I trying to get yeah we’ve lost three on the bounce as well both teams desperate for a win going into this you feeling positive what’s what’s your sort of thinking your school prediction going into this game I thought I was feeling positive but looking at my skin you know looking at the how red my face has gone through the conversation of thinking about this game I’m clearly the blood pressure is rising um and it’s it’s the Premier League you see it’s stressing me out but um no I think it’s these lights but yeah um what was the question again I was just sort of score prediction what you think what your feelings going towards the game um I caught the glow on the camera you I was like uh score prediction well we it’s it’s a must win let’s be honest you know you look at the Premier League fixtion list you look at the teams you think are going to be around you come M you say well you’ve got to take at least four points off them beat them a home point away or whatever and there’s the season evolves and changes that’s why we love football it’s a living thing and it just constantly changes and teams that perhaps you didn’t see like wolves being in the bottom three you go you go to the mall and you think you’ve got to win you’ve got to take three points because it gives you three points above yourselves it potentially creates more of a buffer between you and Southampton it closes the gap on on on the Forefront bottom side which is Palace at the moment um to one point if they lose obviously at the weekend and if you lose it all happens in reverse and if and if you draw it doesn’t hurt you but it doesn’t help you and then it puts pressure on Sophie excels for example you got us and Leicester if you get nothing out of those you got Man United and Aston Villa that’s that’s more pressure on those two games and we’ve got Arsenal and Chelsea and Newcastle and I don’t want to put more pressure than it’s needed because we’ve slipped up against felt as well this season whenever our teams or whatever get points everyone else around us seems to get points as well and that’s just like the last three weeks either of the US US pick up a win out of those three games or four points out of the three you’re in a all of a sudden in a much better position than than what we are now and it’s just it’s crazy to find margins at the moment and I really hope that a win can for both sides you know kick up a little bit of momentum as well and get us out it’ll be tough with Newcastle Chelsea and Arsenal you know coming up the next three over Christmas that’s you know but we’ve beaten Tottenham uh away 2-1 that’s a that is a Brucey bonus in the fix list when you’re looking at your points and where you’re picking them up for sure you don’t want to be putting so much pressure on you know going to the Emirates and needing you thinking we slipped up against Southampton away got a point got a point at walls or or Worse we really need to win this game because that’s that’s one of the toughest games it’s going to be of the season so you know no disrespect to wolves but looking at the league table he’s got to be I think everyone everyone’s going to look at a game against ws and think they’re going to get something at the moment with and if vice versa you know I understand how people look at if oh they’re coming to wolves we you know we got to beat them what’s what’s sort of a question I asked you what’s the sort of mood in terms of it’s fans is everyone sort of quite levelheaded or like the walls fan base we have like you know some people that are quite levelheaded some that lose ahead quite quickly have you got that or is everyone sort of on the same page at the moment in in terms of where you guys are as a club yeah it’s it’s again it’s a bit split you get some fans that you know we spent 100 million pounds that we should be so much better than what we are but you know as we spoke about on on on on my show 100 million pounds you know just to be in the division isn’t overall that much but you got to spend money just a tread water in the Premier League and we were coming obviously from League one backtack promotions some some are we are where we thought we’d be we need to have a great second half of the season but it’s not out of the Realms of possibility some have already said January is more of a a championship window A View to what we what we’re going to do in the championship you know and almost waves the white flag and given up um I still think we can survive I don’t know if that’s just me being positive for the sake of being positive or not but the overall mood is that we’re just it’s brilliant to be here MH and my mood can’t beat for everybody my mood is I’m getting tired of hearing about how great it is to be here and the Journey’s been amazing the Journey’s been fantastic but I want to stay at the destination a bit longer than there’s no reason why the journey can’t continue I think everyone said that about brenford you know and you know they’re doing you know really well as well yeah M there there’s no reason why not but um but I want to stay here Dave yeah the I want to stay at the destination just just a bit longer if that’s you know what I me I don’t blame you I’m enjoying the all inclusive I’m enjoying I’m enjoying the quality coming to I just want to stay just not enjoying the V though that’s the only fig the moment no one enjoys V now Martin thank you very
