we have lots to talk about in today’s video including the latest trade talk around the league today’s rumors involve the Ottawa Senators New York Rangers and the Vancouver conects we also have some big Milestones going down tonight lots of news from the NHL waiver wire we have a signing today lots of injury updates as well all that more coming up next so welcome back to another video here at topshelf hawy as I mentioned we have lots to talk about here today uh lots of news and lots of uh trade speculation around the NHL uh news on a waiver wire which I did do a video on earlier but just a recap in case you missed it uh the Edmonton Oilers did put in a claim and picked up defenseman Alec regula who was on waivers today from the Boston Bruins he hadn’t played yet this year uh had been on season opening injured reserve and was looking to be demoted to go play for their AHL affiliate team that’s not going to happen he’s now part of the Edmonton Oilers so he’s with the Bruins now formerly of Chicago though so I assume that mostly with new orders GM Stan Bowman with his history with Chicago must be familiar with the player obviously likes what he sees it’s a right shot defenseman 6’4 uh good size good Mobility so we’ll see uh how he fits there but they do have to keep him on the NHL roster so obviously that is going to be uh interesting to see how they go about handling things there we also had some new players on waivers today with Alex neander and Dakota mermis of the Toronto Maple Leafs uh so we’ll see of course I know Alex neand are quite happy to be playing with his brother William but he’s played in five games put up zero points and the Leafs are getting back to you know being healthier now uh not as many opportunity so uh they would like to send him back to the miners I suspect he’ll probably clear but you just never know I mean he hasn’t played the greatest in the past five games but he does have history at times of of being good and other teams have have history with him too so we’ll see what happens there’s also another player on waivers with San Jose with valter pulley uh being on waivers for contract termination uh he and the sharks have mutually agreed uh to terminate his contract cuz he wants to go back over and play overseas uh some other updates around the NHL today we did get word that uh Kraken majority owner David bondman has sadly passed away at h82 of course played a huge role in bringing hockey back to Seattle at the professional level um obviously you know big part of the Kraken he was heavily involved too in the determining of the name and The Branding the uh logo like just everything that went into it he was very much involved not just somebody with Deep Pockets and money uh so obviously his family will inherit his shares I do believe but um but yeah you know big loss for the Seattle Kraken there for sure like you know hasn’t been not long they’ve been in NHL um he’s only been an NHL owner here for the past few years so it’s kind of unfortunate there’s never you know uh you never know really what to say in these scenarios obviously he’s you know 82 but you know with the way you see people people living nowadays uh 82 is even not super old so um you know obviously had a good life but uh certainly want to pass along our condolences I’m sure everybody in the Kraken organization is uh pausing and reflect and certainly showing their gratitude towards what he was able to do to help them bring the the franchise together I know I’ve seen several players posting um you know gratitude and um everything on social media today so certainly want to pass everything along to his friends family Etc um so certainly a big loss there in Seattle the Kraken today also recalled forward Ryan Winterton as well uh has been recalled to the NHL uh for Anaheim they get Leo Carlson back in Action tonight he’s missed the past six games of course they’re battling right now with the Ottawa Senators um and Carlson’s back so that’s a good Plus for them uh in Detroit they’ve sent back uh goalie Sebastian kosa to the American Hockey League it’s believed that uh I believe Talbot’s going to be able to return and in Calgary they’ve sent uh Jacob pelier and Walker der back to the American Hockey League but that very well could just be a paper transaction to help a crew cap space because they uh obviously are off today so some you see that and doesn’t really mean a whole lot here we also had a prospect signing uh the Columbus Blue Jackets today announced that they’ve signed Prospect defenseman uh Luca Morelli who was a third round pick in the 2024 uh NHL draft so he gets his three-year ELC obviously having a a pretty good season after just getting drafted this past summer uh some big Milestones went down down in the NHL this evening a couple of goals one on goals on the games play front uh with both two of these with the Rangers uhy panan played game number 700 tonight of course as I record this they’re still doing battle with the Buffalo Sabers currently holding a two nothing lead um and in that game M saan Jad had the first goal of the game uh which was goal number 300 for him on his career so a big milestone there and in the Ottawa Senators Anaheim Ducks game Drake bson uh his first goal the game cuz he does have actually have a hatrick tonight in the second intermission as I record this uh but Drake hit goal number 100 he’s now got 102 well on his way to the next Milestone but certainly uh goal number 100 which was escaped him the past couple of games he have one called back um the other night which would have granted this the Milestone a little bit sooner but obviously uh yeah that’s a big milestone for him lot obviously a lot earlier in his career than m is and of course for Ottawa it’s Daniel alon’s birthday so certainly a nice time to have a great game and have a good Milestone like that uh on a special day um now onto the speculation around trade talk around the NHL uh lots of things to take a look at uh one I want to take a look at Nick kios of course the real real Kipper and born show on sportset uh has he decided to do his own trade bait board uh but he’s done it a little bit differently uh obviously kind of classified as some are you know players with term that might be available some are pending ufas rentals and kind of has a broken down into different categories if you will but one name that I found very interesting that was on there as a little bit of details was Vancouver connects forward Brock besser now again all these players are basically just players that he can some of it he has information to suggest they might be treated some of it’s publicly known and some of it is also just kind of speculation because we don’t know the players future because of their contract and for what you’re hearing around contract negotiations it sounds like it might be a tough thing for the Canucks to um to get it done I would say that there’s probably mutual interest between Vancouver and the player in bester’s case here to get a new deal done for him to remain a kanak however with that being said uh it is rumored based on kyos uh information that he’s looking for an eight-year deal around $8 million per season now he had a phenomenal year last year uh scored 40 goals U you know he may or may not get that high this year but either way um you know certainly an important player to the connect before last year he had a few years where you know the numbers were inconsistent you know he was going through a lot off the ice personally as well I know with his dad his dad eventually passed away but he was sick there for a while and you know I think it’s fair to say that Brock had a had a rough couple of years uh both on and off the ice and I think the Al I stuff affected him a lot on the ice um and obviously last year it seemed like was his best year where he was healthy and clearheaded and just everything was just kind of clicking at a much better rate for him and I think that’s probably the the best version version and the true version of Brock B that we um you know that we should see more more frequently now of course this year too he plays a lot with JT Miller and of course with Miller taking leave of absence that’s probably not help B’s case b was also hurt this year uh with I believe he had a concussion after a big hit and missed some time too so you know there’s still lots of Runway here so we hard to say exactly where B’s going to finish this year for his production but at the end of the day an 8times 8 contract um I’m not saying the Vancouver connects are are un willing to go there but it’s going to be a big commitment and we don’t know right now how Vancouver feels about that uh they’ve had an up and down season to be honest they just got Demco back which is great um you know they’re they’re doing okay when it comes to the standings and we in terms of playoffs but they have struggled against a lot of the League’s top teams a lot of their wins have come against you know the weaker non-playoff team so you know it’s kind of hard to say really just how they stack up and I guess as the as the year goes on we’re going to find out but Brock B’s future is going to be um an important note to watch here basically basic on what Kos is saying you know he’s obviously thinking that there’s at least a chance that b doesn’t uh resign of course if Vancouver you know um like I said they’ve struggled against a lot of the top teams if they find themselves later in the year that they’re not really in a you know at a point where they feel they can contend and if they’re not at a point where playoffs are you know absolutely certain you got to wonder you know if there’s an opportunity for a significant hockey trade for example to really you know bring in another piece that they think might help them be a better team long term down the road may maybe they do that it’s hard to say I still think the the odds are I would right now say they’re going to figure out a way to sign them but you know uh it’s difficult to say I think it’s probably I’d say probably 60% that he stays 40% that they they move him or he leaves but um I think there’s mutual interest and we’ll see where it goes they’re going to certainly want to you know lowball them for sure if they can based on the down years we’ve seen recently but that’s that’s the the tough case I think for his contract for an agent to sell is what what version are you going to see with Brock on a consistent basis so we’ll see where that goes as I mentioned the Rangers and the Senators I know obviously the Brady kachuck story took a lot of um error this week and certainly you know we had the the I don’t know the lob or what are we going to call it from Senator owner Michael land hour uh you know hurling um you know some big words towards the Rangers of soft tampering and whatnot and you know a lot of people debate that whether or not that was the right thing to do is soft hampering even really a thing either they did or they didn’t I don’t know that anybody has any hard evidence that they did um you know at the end of the day I think at least a lot of the media now are definitely acknowledging that no matter what you think of the an laer comments that everybody can honestly say that there’s no doubt right now between what Brady kachaka had to say himself what the team has said and what reporters are saying that there’s no chance he’s going anywhere anytime soon now but of course Dave pegot of course of the fourth period.com was his latest hit looking at all the rumors and information he has uh was saying that you know clearly we know that they’re not moving kachak but you know the SS have had not the greatest start to the season I think they would have rather had even you know maybe not drastically better results right now but you know even if it was two or three more wins that would make a huge difference in the standings and would have them pretty firm in a wild card spot you know they win their game tonight which they’re well on Pace to do they’re only two points out right so it’s you know they’re right there but if there’s two or three games earlier in the season that they should have won and didn’t and if they could have found a way to close those out then they get a few more points and it’s a different conversation um but there’s been a lot of debate on whether or not they have the right mix and whether or not they need to make a move to make sure that they take that step this year if they’re going to do something to change up the Mix Change Up The Core it would be more reasonable to think it would come earlier in the season so they’d have more time to adapt and see if it helps them get where they need to be right uh you know kind of like what we’ve seen the Avalanche do recently making two goalie trades completely changing up their go tending tandem uh they know if they wait too late in the season they might not have the desired effect so in ottawa’s case Peg not was talking about the fact that you know if if they’re going to move somebody if they’re going to make a move it’s probably going to bring to bring in another top defenseman preferably somebody on the right side and that they may have to move a strong forward he mentioned you know a guy like an Norris or a pinto might be a type of player that they might have to seriously consider moving um he said that the Calgary Flames really like Josh Norris well they have Mackenzie weager and Rasmus Anderson so there’s a you know a trade right there now I don’t know that the S would want to do that to be honest as I said before I mean I understand the idea of Norris’s injury history and whatnot but if the thing is is right now the way Shane Pinto’s played this year if you move Norris you can’t replace his production and yeah your back end gets better but now you’re weaker up front he’s been terrific on faceoffs he’s playing on the penalty kill he’s really really taking this two-way game up a major Notch so to me you lose you you create a major hole on your lineup by moving him so as much as the defenseman coming back is nice to have you create a new problem and I don’t know that they really want to do that but you know for entertainment purposes just to talk about what could be uh between them and the Flames if they did connect like we know they love McKenzie weager the Ottawa native uh would be a terrific fit now they also mentioned you know maybe you know do they look at a guy like Shabbat I don’t again I don’t think so because Shabbat is revered in that room he’s an alternate Captain been there he’s the longest serving Senator uh the team loves him he’s big in like big amongst the teammates big in the room I I think either of those guys leaving would be such a um an effect on the room that I don’t know that it really has the desired effect so we’ll see I mean you know could the Flames come in and make them a big offer maybe but at this point I think they would rather sort things out and obviously win that would be better but at the same time like you know if they do need to make a move I can understand where the names are coming from it’s just kind of hard to pinpoint how that makes them a better club uh really worlds down the return but those are the names that are out there if Steve stos was going to do something that you know he’s got his Untouchable players for sure not you know kachak stut Sanderson you know BS they’re allmark like they’re definitely not going anywhere they’re too valuable and they have terrific contract so we’ll see uh the Rangers of course are playing Buffalo tonight they were winning and lost I checked but of course the game’s not over as I start to record this but uh at the end of the day uh you know they’re a team that’s gone through their struggles uh you know we talked yesterday about is head coach on the hot seat is Labette you know facing it we’ll see lots of talk today about more moves that could be coming talking about Adam Fox could he be available is mik saana jat available cuz it sounds like they’ve really made almost everybody available and you know obviously there’s trade protection there I know I seen an article saying that the Red Wings would probably have a lot of interest in a player like Saban Jad because they could certainly use some upgrades down the middle um I don’t know if Miki would want a wave to go to Detroit but certainly you know Zannah Jad and fox are two huge names in with the rangers they both have a lot of term they have a lot of money on their deal uh you know certainly somebody that uh would generate a lot of interest but Zan has full no trade uh at this point I know fox has some trade protection as well I’d have to check pedia to confirm exactly what he has but you know would they generate a big return in Fox’s case I think he could but again he look at what Adam Fox did he was drafted got traded he he forced his way to New York right like do you think he’s going to want to leave so if he can block anything he’s going to U and again it’s not the same scenarios with trouba where they felt like they were almost desperate to rid themselves of the contract and to create the cap space so again could the Rangers make a a huge move and move another major piece it’s possible uh but it’s probably a little bit more complicated than it was with trouba you know in the case of Jacob trouba you know they they kind of did them dirty but they kind of followed the rules that they had at their disposal you know depending on how you feel about it uh sometimes business can be uh can be brutal that way it’s unfortunate but it’s part of the game um and I think we’ll see players you know maybe negotiate their Clauses a little bit different in their contracts accordingly to make sure that doesn’t happen to them if they can get that but um but you know I I wouldn’t be if I’m Chris jury after everything this team has been through I’m probably open to just about everything uh as we heard before they’re pretty much wide open if they were willing to move trouba and cder why wouldn’t they be open to moving a Saban Jad you know or a fox you know if they need to get a haul in return to make this team better so let me know your thoughts on all of today’s news or rumors down in the comments we’ll discuss further could we see significant deals with the Rangers could we see a significant deal with the Senators obviously winning solves everything and if they continue you know get their act together and get more wins on the board we probably won’t see as much but if they you know continue with their inconsistent ways then the rumors will continue the
