[Music] after a chaotic week in men’s college basketball that saw three top five teams lose on the same night the latest USA Today news sports coaches poll features significant shifts the biggest change comes at the top where Tennessee climbs to number one for the first time since February 2019 the volunteers who managed to stay undefeated over the past week received 26 of the 31 first place votes pushing them past Kansas which held the top spot since the preseason Kansas drops to number 10 after back-to-back losses to kraton and Missouri Auburn which also saw a midweek loss to Duke recovered with a dominant win against Richmond holding on to number two the Tigers who won the Maui Invitational earlier this season still receive five first Place votes Iowa state made the most significant leap rising two spots to number three after a victory over previously undefeated Marquette at the same time Marquette remains at number four Kentucky rounds out the top five after a big comeback when against Gonzaga in Seattle following a loss at Clemson earlier in the week Duke climbs three spots to number six after victories over Auburn and Louisville in their ACC opener while Florida moves up six places to number seven marking their first top 10 appearance since the 2019 preseason poll Alabama holds steady at number eight while Gonzaga Falls to number nine after the loss to Kentucky Michigan made the most significant jump of the week moving nine spots to number 14 following a solid stretch of winds Clemson also enters the poll for the first time this season and number 16 after their upset win against Kentucky while Memphis Illinois Pittsburgh and North Carolina all drop out after suffering losses with the top teams in flux and several other squads making moves the race for the top spots in men’s college basketball is shaping up to be as unpredictable as ever the next few weeks will be crucial for teams looking to solidify their place in the rankings as conference play intensifies as the SE season progresses expect more shakeups and surprises in the poll as top ranked teams continue to face tough competition across the country
