[Music] [Music] [Music] well hello there and welcome back in brand new week on the BET us TV college basketball show good to be back with the Big Man on Campus Jeff Nao as well as Corby Craig as we rock along here in the month of December off of a very interesting weekend first of all I want you guys to say some things and say hello to the audience and and tell me what you thought of this week and then the host has got a little problem here with what went on on Sunday or what we were not really able to see on Sunday for for reasons that I’ll give in a few moments but big man how was your weekend how are things great uh I’m sad because college football is ending but you know it was a great season uh now college basketball is more the focus and uh yeah I me it just continues to be kind of a wild uh season so far I think again I I mean is there a number one team so far in college basketball not really sure I mean there are some really good teams there are some definite teams that are better than most but I mean we continue to teams lose that uh probably shouldn’t be losing uh one of which uh is your your team uh what the hell was that I don’t know what that was I’ll tell you what it was not guarding again turning the ball over and you can get beat anytime uh anywhere when that happens a thought real quick Jeff Corby will come to you in just a second thought on Kentucky Gonzaga late Saturday night we did talk about that game on Friday yeah some on the show what a performance by Kentucky including in the overtime could have folded up down 18 at one point in Seattle right and they didn’t even have one of their better players in Lamont Butler who transferred from San Diego State yeah really impressive you know it’s one of those high-profile you know a lot of great players type of games I think we all kind of alluded that it would probably be a high-scoring game and and it was uh and that went to overtime and that helped you there but uh you know just one of those high-profile games doesn’t mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things because both these teams are are going to be you know Fringe number one or two seeds but um yeah impressive Kentucky shoots seven for 25 from three uh and they still uh they still get the job done if I’m Mark Pope I mean if I’m looking at Kentucky I’ve got to be most impressed by them this season look you’re not going to go undefeated but they’ve already beaten Duke they’ve already beaten Gonzaga uh really impressive and all the screaming about well you’re not hiring Danny Hurley why are you not getting a Scott drew and Mark Pope goes ahead and beats Duke on a neutral floor and beats uh Gonzaga going all the way out to Seattle it was not a Gonzaga home game but still that’s a tremendous win Corby Craig good to have you here my friend thoughts on the weekend and anything that we touched on or anything on your mind yeah uh Jeff brings up football two things first off he’s wearing the shirt what a what a call on Army I think I saw every single person who’s considered sharp on T Lane uh that that was a that wasn’t even close I I saw people make an argument for Bama to be in the playoff I get it um I thought Army had more of a of a debate you want to you want to lose one loss and win your Championship I I thought if you’re going to sneak somebody in sneak in Army it would be fun to watch them fight for a chance so good call there also like people were saying the committee got it wrong of course they are it’s always going to happen I think it was great uh like overall obviously there’s things that could have been changed but overall congrats college football they’re figuring it out something college basketball figured out 200 years ago uh good for them they’re catching up now we got the real sport but no from from a St point of like best teams I I look through here and I agree with Jeff there’s not a best we kind of see Gonzaga fold when it matters what we’ve seen every year in the tournament what about Kansas hey what about Kansas now with the loss at kraton and now a loss to Missouri on a neutral floor certainly certainly two uh interesting losses for Kansas again I think this team has the Vets to be fine in March the team that I Circle and I look at Ken palom and I go like we’re we’re we’re pricing in Prior way too much here is Houston like we’ve talked about this a few times on the show but Houston’s five and3 Houston is second last in the nation in rimond 3 rate they have lost three games which granted they were versus good teams Alabama Auburn I think San Diego State three good losses but like you’re not the fifth team in the nation if you’re if you have three good losses like this is not the fifth team if their name was at Houston if they didn’t have the repertoire that they have this is the 13th team 15th team of the nation I have them 16 um so I could see a spot where you could you could fade Houston in the near future pretty easily wurn Duke are still like the top two at least to me look I’ll be most I’m most impressed by Tennessee um now again Tennessee hasn’t played much of anybody outside of Balor but I I thought this team would really struggle to score you know they lose dton connect and they have been really really good I mean they’re top 10 in both offensive and defensive efficiency we know they’re going to be good on defense but they have the number one two-point offense in the country this offense is rolling um and they can win a variety of ways they can win 6442 they can win 10368 so they’re a team that that I I’ve been really impressed by this is what Rick Barnes does though we’ll see if when it matters most they can get the job done what happens in March and by the way late last night there was a big 10 game between UCLA and Oregon won by UCLA Oregon’s first loss of the year comes on a banked in three with less than a second to go the bank was open as they like to say on on Sunday night great win for Mick cronin’s team on the road in a in a true Road environment in conference 7371 and we’re going to get to the live Q&A here in a little bit thank you for finding us hit the like button we’ve got a couple of games to handicap here that you’re going to see on the schedule can I get on the soap box for a second n loves this when we when he can pile on get ready to pile on brother uh ESPN what in the in the words of Jeff n what are we doing here yesterday afternoon while this thing the three letters called the NFL are going on they pile all of these college basketball games that would have would have been fine to be playing them tomorrow night or be playing a couple of them on Monday for example and ESPN is dictating the start time on the following games that Kansas Missouri game was an ESPN game being played on Sunday afternoon while the NFL is going on they’re also playing the Duke Louisville game Duke gets a win at Louisville in the ACC on the ACC Network in the middle of the late Sunday afternoon NFL games I mean over and over and over again the Auburn games on on the SEC network in the afternoon the Memphis game again they control the American Conference start times they’re playing the Memphis game in the afternoon I I’m not saying don’t have some of the games on Sunday but why are we playing them all when tens of millions of fans that might be interested in college basketball not millions of fans but maybe a million maybe a million five might be interested in the college basketball on Sunday night I know momes and the chiefs were playing but guys get in here too many games in the afternoon yesterday lost in the shuffle thoughts um I thought about about that same thing to be quite honest um I’ll never understand the scheduling stuff um I I don’t uh and as you alluded to then you have tonight and you have what five games like total like it’s stupid the problem is tell you I’m just can I interject I’m telling you it’s ESPN telling Yukon in Texas you’re playing in the afternoon because they’re of this but it’s also the sad reality look we really like college bass there’s a bunch of people in this chat that do but most people don’t until like February that’s just the truth um and and I think they’re going to have to do what they have to do I mean we could also make the case of why does ESPN have a a show where it’s called we’re going to tell you the rankings and then 30 minutes in they haven’t told you the rankings then they get pissed off when the reporter whose job it is to report reports yeah Brett MC I’m so happy they got scooped screw ASN maybe this will tell you yeah maybe this will tell you stop say saying stuff like big noon kickoffs at 12 big noon yet it doesn’t start till 12:20 got it uh and the other thing is Brett McMurphy used to work for ESPN it’s his job to get Scoops as you mentioned he found out that SMU was in the playoff and Alabama was not and it is his job Corby get in here because again the Yukon Texas great win for Yukon most of the country didn’t see it or care if you’re hardcore college basketball you might have caught up on the highlights but they’re playing this Sunday afternoon during the NFL just real quick and we’ll get to the games yeah I um I I try not to worry about things that that you can’t really control also I I kind of agree with this idea that like I would be curious what the turnover of NFL fan to college basketball fan is I would imagine it’s not as big as you think uh there there’s like guys like us but um I can’t imagine that the guy watching football if if the game was on after it they would have been like oh we just watched four hours of uh the Chiefs now we’re going to go watch yuk Converse insert anybody um so I I think it’s dumb like they’re never going to be right uh I wish there was basketball from like I mean in an optimal life I think these 11:00 a.m. 12 noon starts in college basketball in the weekday is like something that every person wants to watch like while they’re working doing whatever um and it’s an easy fill spot like we see a lot of of action there like I saw something like forom the other day almost had a million Watchers on ESPN 2 which is crazy to think about um on a noon kickoff so or noon tip off so I think like don’t even put it in the same category as other sports make them a make college basketball late night early morning kind of game and it and just one more we’ll get to the games have a lot of games today so there’s no rush I mean I agree if they if they had staggered for example Kansas Missouri at like 7:30 eastern time last night and then put like Yukon Texas at either 8 or 8:30 while that sunay nights game is going on you can’t convince me with the pervasiveness of gambling and with the interest of the sports fan that there wouldn’t have been more audience than it being on in the middle of the day while there’s seven NFL games being played listen the product of the NFL is not good anymore either so if you were going to watch Yukon Texas you can watch it that’s the great thing about TV you can always use uh this thing right here see this thing little remote you can change the channel by the way tonight one NBA game what the hell’s going on one NBA game as well what’s that all about by the way someone asked in the chat did I play Army Navy yes I played Army at 2 and a half it’s now at 6 Corby you like that se how about that uh and again I’ve got I’ve got one thing TJ I I think that the ESPN dictatorship is is a little ridiculous I do agree but I I have a bigger Soap Box I’m not going to go into too much detail but these small ball college basketball schools the stuff that I like to watch I’ve watched my entire life you could go to the University’s site and watch the student announcers these have all been taken over by a monopoly well I guess it’s two two two programs one is called flow Sports they charge like $10 a month to watch like I mean if you want to watch North Carolina A&T play Hampton Central flow Sports you can’t even watch it free ridiculous but but that’s not even the worst one TJ now there’s a new comp competitor in town called Ballers TV they don’t have announcers they don’t have live cameras this isn’t ESPN plus it is a robot that moves with the game with no announcers it is less than 480p and they charge $5 a game it’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen if you want to charge I’m all for it make it a good product ESPN plus is a great like if you watch ESPN plus broadcast of these crappy schools you’re like wow this is a this is a legitimate op there’s at least some effort with the production yeah doesn’t sound the doesn’t sound like the Ballers TV business plan is a long-term sustainable business plan I’m just saying is a lot of degenerate people will pay $5 a month $5 a game to watch uh canol against uh you know Millersville or something yeah yes they will trust me by the way someone’s chatting about oh I said Louisville is good well if you can find anywhere where I said Louisville was good I’d like to hear that but hey lost their best player they also um yeah right they also won eight games last year idiot and they already won five this year and yeah look I mean yeah at the time do so of you folks not understand that our job on this show and on Twitter and all these different things is to talk about what’s going on right now right I can’t see that down the road they’re gonna again lose their best player and then they may lose games it it happens our job is to predict by the way they smoked Indiana in the opening game in Atlantis and everybody was talking about them getting wins in the first two days at Atlantis and it’s going to be a long season and Duke is really good by the way and again that game would have had much more audience because it’s a Duke love hate had it been on last night but I think we’ve covered that you know what we need to do let’s get into some handicapping get into some Q&A for the Savages let’s do that on a Monday shall we again it’s a lighter card but it does have a big 10 matchup and speaking of Indiana we left the air right talking about them playing on Friday night and they did show some Firepower it wasn’t a complete blowout so they won an out-of-conference game now they host Minnesota laying 10 big 10 game on Monday night total 140 and a half big man to you kick off the handicapping for a week give me some thoughts here on this match up whoers Gophers ah yeah I mean it’s definitely a a a Tempo battle you know Indiana want to play quick and and frantic and and Minnesota want to play you know their goal is to be the slowest team in the country um I don’t know that they can really use their best player Dawson Garcia in a way that’s going to really bother Indiana here Indiana obviously have Bellow down low he’s firmly capable they have a huge front line one of the biggest teams in the country when I back an underdog you know a team above 10 points getting 10 points you ask yourself a few questions can they make threes Minnesota no do they make free throws no Minnesota’s a bottom 15 free throw team in the country so they’re not an offense that’s conducive to covering these types of numbers um I think Indiana has really kind of figured some things out I kind of mentioned I thought they had one bad little stretch of days where they didn’t play real well since then they’ve been murdering opponents uh and teams that are better than this one so I would lean on laying the number uh at home Minnesota’s not built to really hang in these types of games just because they just don’t make enough shots and I think they can neutralize Indiana uh Dawson Garcia so it would be a lean definitely to the Indiana hooers they’re playing pretty well right now Corby Craig Minnesota played in the mte little four team tournament in Orlando they lost to Witchita State narrowly and then Wake Forest beat them in a 5751 game in the second game they came back home beat bethon cookman but Michigan State whacked them in Minneapolis scoring 90 points what do we make of the golfers on the road on a Monday night here with the hooers yeah I think this team uh in the most simple words it’s awful I I think dson Garcia is a really good basketball player um but Jeff brings up a great Point like is he going to be able to do anything they have a seven-footer in beo uh I think two 69 and a 65 in the starting lineup like I I don’t know how Minnesota finds a like a singular bucket the bigger issue here and I talked about this on Twitter yesterday kind of went on tangent is like in these games of just complete difference in Tempo like Indiana’s 51st Nation Minnesota is as slow as they physically can be I think the 360th right now but they would enjoy being dead last if they could play this game 20 possessions they they they the type of team that would dribble the ball at the top of the key if they could the issue with this is like when you’re down you’re forced to play fast like if Minnesota’s down 20 they will no longer be the 360th team of the nation in Tempo they’ll be closer to like 280 so I see somebody asked about the total um I think it probably plays close to 140 but the issue is when you when you have to play a style that is not your style which fast is not men you’re going to foul more you’re going to take worse shots you’re going to give up a lot of transition buckets we saw it yesterday in the Fairfield game there’s 174 points in that game um and it was because they weren’t able to play the game they wanted to play Minnesota’s not going to be able to play the game they wanted to play here 10 seems light to me I don’t want to play it I would play this like eight and a half but like this game could be six this game could be 25 pretty easy uh we saw it in Michigan State Michigan state that game was 64 possessions still too fast for Minnesota’s liking Michigan state scored 90 points in that game because they were getting easy looks 21 for 26 from the free throw line because Minnesota was sped up even on 64 possessions so Indiana’s going to run and Gun I think they get the easiest looks they possibly can this game goes probably right to the number uh with Indiana scoring I would at Le I would assume at least 80 has there been any line movement on that total has it been around 140 140 and a half 14 yeah all right Jeff any final thought here Indiana is it sleepy for Indiana maybe no no I think I think those things have been wavered by some of their poor play and and you know what were they Maui or wherever they they’ve really seem focused recently and you know you look at Minnesota I thought this was surely a better group last year um they had better players a lot of people left this program Elijah Hawkins frell Payne cam Christie a lot of those players are gone now I believe so throw in that that game was a 12-point win for Indiana this was an Indiana team that a Time struggled last year so yeah I thought Minnesota was better last season I think they’re getting maybe a little too much respect here they’ve stepped up one time and played a good team as far as a top 40 team and and they got beat by 18 and gave up 90 so yeah I think Indiana probably uh there probably a little late here mik Renault and Indiana overpowered Miami of Ohio Friday night now they’re back on Monday night here for this matchup on the Big 10 Network from Assembly Hall 6:30 eastern time we gave you some good thoughts can I uh inter yes listen I love Trevor Trevor man exam week don’t mean [ __ ] these kids aren’t taking tests come on man kids aren’t taking tests do you think Cooper flag sitting in biology taking his final come on man I mean these people I and and I I think uh these individuals are some of the greatest basketball players that will ever play basketball there there very few people that can do what they’re doing right playing division one so hard they play three four games in a row I they they’ve been through it all I I don’t think in this day and age uh I don’t think exam week ever mattered but it definitely doesn’t matter now it doesn’t matter if you’re a Duke because you got into Duke in the first place I do know that uh all right Trevor by the way is knocking the hooers we’ll see if he’s right there in the live chat a lot of good discussion going on there hit the like button make sure you’re second game will be Virginia Commonwealth we’ve made a mention of them VCU taking on the pin quickers out of the ivy league look at that line 22 and a half total 135 and a half Corby Craig you’ve got an official play here first one of the week what’s up yes uh this is the worst Penn team we’ve seen in a while and it’s weird because like Penn’s usually a decent IV team that we give a little bit of respect to uh last year didn’t look great the year before they were a decent team but this team is just not good it’s why this number is 22 and a half uh I’m going to take the over 135 and a half here I made it 140 uh we’re grasping for straws because I I did lean towards this number being close to like 39 38 um but a few things first off we’ve seen VCU enjoyed running up the score like they they kind of smacked around Boston College Ryan odm second year so it makes sense to try to pump the gas uh we we saw a Georgia Southern game 8954 they they definitely didn’t stop there um we’ve seen this kind of time and time again pen a team who first off cannot guard they’ve played slow but I I think they’ve played slow because they don’t have any offense and and they’ve been in like relatively close games like we see even aaf at 6563 so they haven’t been forced to run fast I talked about this idea of like when you’re down a lot you kind of have to play faster um pin has a a bunch of Ivy League kids which I think you can imagine that means they’re going to shoot a lot of Threes um they they pull they’re not hitting but I imagine this game is a lot of quick threes went down a lot they’ve got into the free throw line a decent amount uh especially relative to the amount of times they drive the basket VCU all day they should absolutely handle business I think if Penn wants to make this competitive at all they run the pace and that is indicative to an over so 135 give me the over I think VCU kind of sets their number here and continues to do whatever they want interesting the first play is an overplay Jeff NAU the uh Rams of VCU were playing in Charleston in the tournament there they lost a seat in Hall they lost to Nevada they beat Miami in the third and final game he did mention the 89 points against Georgia Southern 8954 win thoughts on VCU at home do they rock and roll tonight you’re in the Greater Philadelphia area is Penn going to have anything for him what do you think I don’t think no they will um it would be VCU or pass I question though and and and Ryan odm teams are are pretty you know involved with this if if Vu doesn’t make threes they will not win right and and they will struggle uh they’re two losses this year they struggle to make threes they’re very a high three-point attempt uh reli three-point attempt to Reliant they shoot a lot of them I think they’re sixth I think in in three-point attempts to field goal attempts if they make threes here they’ll win by 30 uh that said if if they shoot 33% from three it’ll be enough to win by 15 but I don’t think they’re going to cover this number they’ve also had some issues with turnovers just going to throw that out there but yeah I’m not taking pen pen sucks they have one of the worst three-point defenses in the country again though it’s just conducive on are all the if the 35 threes they shoot they need to make at least 37 38% I think to cover this number so that would be my concern here uh but yeah VCU should should roll Penn’s been horrible you may have it before I can find an any fault on a team total for Virginia Commonwealth at home I know you like the play those from time to yeah look it should be a a a game that VC are focused in on that said these are where this schedule as far as where we are in the year gets tough some of these teams just don’t care that much about these games I mean they’re bigger fish to fry for VCU uh Penn is is is a game that doesn’t mean much they’re going to win um they’ve got some big games coming up they got to go to a neutral site on Saturday they got New Mexico on Deck so with VCU they bigger fish to fry do you care that much to win this game by 30 uh we’ve seen teams kind of pull off and and and not really care and win by 17 so that’s kind of the issue here I think if you like VCU that might be the way to go here they’re going to have to score 85 probably to cover this number so yeah I I would I would definitely lean on a team total if you like VCU I think I see 79 on BET us if you care VCU team total Corby Craig however is just interested in points of any kind in this game mainly Virginia Commonwealth points at least he thinks let’s lock him in on the over 1355 at the seagull center tonight watch it with ESPN plus you don’t need the what did you say flow sports or B sports or baller TV got your ESPN Plus app you can see this one in the A10 tonight um and Trevor does bring up who did pin get blasted by in the Big Five on the weekend whack banova whacked him on the weekend let’s see if it continues tonight one game to go you see what it is there on the screen and then you’re live Q&A in a few moments give ready for the Savages not a lot of games tonight but the Savages have got all kinds of things going on in the live chat Baylor laying 22 and A2 with abalene Christian ACU was a darling that made the NCA tournament under Joe Golding a couple of years ago and pulled an upset of Texas remember back in 2021 all right they’ve now switched conferences by the way abalene Christian they’re in playing Baylor on a Monday night in Waco 22 and a half is the line the total is 143 in this game Jeff na to you for an initial thought here I know you’re frustrated with Baylor’s lack of Defense yeah but is this a get right spot for them offensively thoughts well I got a little uh thing to say about abalene Corby uh Saturday I see abalene getting 24 against North Dakota State in football this ain’t your grandpa’s North Dakota State team good not great abene covers I also bet the over and I bet the live over 74 and a half they get dat I’m I’m not kidding like I’m killing college football it’s been beautiful uh that said this is basketall uh yeah look this is a game Balor they’re not a team that I want to lay a big number with right now I’m just not interested too many games against good teams then you got these little teams mixed in um they’re also again not a great defensive team this team is struggled to guard um I don’t know who’s playing for Baylor either um they’ve had uh VJ Edgecomb was out the other night um by the way it’s so funny in that game guys were literally reporting after the game tipped that VJ edcom wasn’t going to play hey reporter you know your job is to know this before the game right why do I know stuff before you and you’re in the building does that make any sense to me I’m so tired of this crap that we care about uh gambling and we’re going to regulate it and then we don’t report on stuff till it starts um yeah I don’t know who’s playing for Baylor I don’t trust them on defense is abene a group that I think are going to bother them probably not one thing about abene though they’re from the uh whack uh kind of similar to the South in a way where the goal is to get to the line a lot they get to the line a lot fourth in America in free throw rate uh in fact 26% of their points come from the free throw line that’s one of the highest marks in the country as I said Bor had trouble guarding and when you can’t guard correctly you foul put opponents in the line I think abalene can get the 65 here I think if they do that they’ll cover this number uh interesting Baylor was in that big 12 Big East battle at stores talked about the game Corby last week um and Connecticut beat them they were winning at the half but Connecticut beat them to Jeff’s Point scoring 40 in the second half Liam mcil had the big game all right so this is their first game since then starting the new week any thought including on the total against abalene Christian yeah edgecomb’s uh edc’s kind of the entire premise here you definitely need to know what his situation is um I kind of agree with Jeff like this Baylor team I don’t know I when I want to bet a big team mid major I want like the Georgetown St Francis game I’ve went back to it 10 times but that is the ultimate situation I want big guys who are going to score efficient twos time and time again and slowly make this 22 make it 15 at half time 17 at the intermission and continue going up it’s just doesn’t feel like a Baylor team like that they they like to shoot a lot of Threes they’re a talented team don’t get me wrong um but like I’m not sure they have the consistency just to basically push and will around whatever they want they’re not big like I think uh omir is what 67 abalene will have the same size are they as talented by by no means imagination at all um but abene loves to get to the line it’s basically just like a a really soft rub screen going downhill try to get a layup and get to the line they are let’s see 105th in isolation they’re 90th in the nation at finishing at The Rim so do I think that they can get to the rim versus Baylor in isolation I don’t at all like I I went back and watched some film for this game cuz I’m supposed to about an under I haven’t been impressed by alene’s offense I think they just have some talented guys that were getting to the to the to the stripe like I’m not sure they’re going to be able to do that versus Baylor I don’t know how abene scores if they can’t so this would be a live betting game for me if abene seems like they have nothing going they can’t get to the line the refs aren’t calling anything this would be an under under under as fast as I can click it uh if they’re getting to the line I’ll probably stay stay away real quick um and and I always tell people this there are certain teams that I think you should just avoid until conference play this is one of them Baylor is a team who aren’t very cohesive they haven’t played together for very long they don’t even have certain players to play with because they’re out um and I think we’ve seen in the market this is why they’re struggling right I mean remember they probably should have lost to St John’s that should have been another loss they found a way there but I think you just have to let them get through this time and and by conference play I think they’d be more worthy to look to bet on but there’s just too many issues with this team and with cohesion and people being out again for ab Christian they’re now in the whack as you mentioned they beat the Mexico State uh last week in a conference game or actually New Mexico state now in Conference USA I got to keep all of this straight they left the whack but abalene did get a win at Los can’t seem real I I guess in terms of Northfolk State’s actually a good team I mean they’re probably the best M team very uh old group under Robert Jones he’s always got one of the better teams in that conference yeah I’m surprised by that I would I would have had HRA as a favorite but this isn’t a normal HRA team either so um I think both groups will score uh Northfolk State very put your head down get to the line uh I’m not sure how good hofire defensively is this season um it’s not one that I played I think the numers just super weird I I don’t think nor folks home courts worth three money out there uh to to bet just to bet I think that’s the biggest way that as a novice you can become a a better or more consistent Gambler just because there are games on TV does not mean you have on Jaylen Washington’s G to become a better post player uh he’s still pretty raw you know he’s filling in for Bott who was a Transcendent player for that group so they’ll get better um they still have great guard play set trimble’s been really good RJ Davis is still a a star I would probably throw Clemson right there as well uh Clemson is obviously been there before yeah they lose PJ Hall but you know lak’s done a nice job they have some big wins we also forget I mean they could have just kind of uh had a let down game against Miami the other day and and they didn’t they held Miami to 55 points which is super impressive uh Miami is always a really good offense how bad is Miami I mean this team cannot get out of their own way I think it’s time for Larona and maybe hang it up uh it’s getting a little uh thin in the tooth there for him so yeah I would say Clemson or Carolina I think they’re all right up there with Duke another viewer Brian wants to know about St John’s they smoked Kansas State on Saturday what about St John’s in the Big East Jeff something on them yeah defensively I think they’re really good good uh Rick’s done a nice job there they have two close losses you know nothing to to be mad about Big 12 and SEC opponents you know Georgia is not a great team but they are a top 40 group probably uh St John’s is is a typical patino team good defensive team big on the glass um where they are in the Big East I don’t know I mean they’re not uh they’re not kraton they’re not uh Marquette they’re not Connecticut I think they’re kind of the next level uh the goal is to kind of put some garison teams am I running to to bet them not really I like the ad of kadari Richmond though he’s a guy who good Defender and can get you a bucket they haven’t necessarily had that player and they went from being a totally poor defensive team uh before he got there to now you’re trying to recruit kids that want to play defense which is not easy in this day and age so uh yeah I think the future is brighter than recently by the way nice tribute from Rick patino he had the late Lou carnosa sweater on on Saturday they were channeling a little uh L caresa the legendary coach uh who won over 600 games I believe it was at St John’s had him in the 85 final for he passed away at 99 years of age last week so they did tribute to him and they wiped out K State Corby any thought on St John’s or the Big East yeah you can you can see a box score and say wiped out uh I think the game was a lot closer for a lot longer than it should have been uh talked about on the Friday show like they they have a good coach they have quote unquote good players and then just to watch that game I I probably would disagree with myself in both of those aspects I think it was a poorly coached game with players who thought they were more talented than they were and they continue to get blocked can get steals got badler I mean they shot what I think I just saw yeah 37% from two like this team just was getting decent shots and not scoring so Kansas State might just actually be that hey uh Jeff villain novva going back to Saturday did blow away blow away Temple 94 has Kyle Neptune found something here what are they doing better 94 points what are they doing better at the moment if anything yeah I think the competition has helped uh they’ve played played uh well again though they beat Cincinnati that was kind of the real impressive win for me um I just think you have to take the es and flows of the season and this is why you can’t get too down on teams you know Villanova still can make a lot of Threes they’re still good offense at least through a guy like Eric Dixon they have Eric Dixon that that’s kind of the difference he’s just better than most of the teams that he’s playing uh but that was a nice eye openening win against Cincinnati um that said I’m still keeping the the the you know my hand away from the button when it comes to Villanova I need to see consistency for two three weeks by the way with LC Cara what a fascinating person this is a guy who began coaching in 1950 okay served time in the military um and you know TJ I don’t I don’t always mean to go back to the Mob but I’m always fascinated by people like caresa because Lis carnesa was from New York York he was an Italian guy he went to the World War II just like mostly everyone else what makes a person go one way and a person go another you ever think about that like why does someone go become a hitman or become a basketball coach what is in it is it in their head is it the way they were raised cuz UNLV what about thoughts on kraton from either one of you have they figured it out they lost badly to Nebraska right a couple of weeks ago at home yeah I didn’t play anything on Saturday I was focused on college football that was kind of my thing but one of the games that I have my eye on and I was curious about was UNLV uh Brayton had just won a big game right pop Isaac’s out for the foreseeable future and I thought wow laying 10 I mean unv is not terrible but I think what I realized is unv is not good uh that that’s that’s a brutal performance you lose by 18 to that kraton team kraton’s starting to get going um it’ll be some time before I Look to them just because they’ve just had so many things with Isaac’s going out Stephen ashth was out for a couple of of games so I think it’s still a wait and see approach but you they’re starting to get going too uh let’s talk a little college football playoff Corby come on by the way one more before you talk the playoff kraton has exams this week don’t laugh they’re not playing this week they then play at Alabama coming this Saturday night how about that next game is at Alabama on the SEC they’ll be almost a 10-point dog in that game wow how about that we C all right college football playoff a lot of the Savages are asking about that um I I think good on them on a couple of fronts not only including SMU but they gave Boise State one of the buys why not they’re only loss is to Oregon and they played well throughout their conference they’ve got one of the most exciting players in college football in Genty all right your thoughts guys Corby go ahead yeah a couple thoughts uh I think Texas got a great Road I think Penn State got a great Road um I I liked what the committee did back to me when James Franklin wins a big like I think Texas wins this uh they’ll see Georgia in the national championship the biggest question mark I have is is Carson Beck gonna play like I mean his elbow looked pretty bad I I would be curious I mean backup looked fine um but if Carson doesn’t play should Georgia be a worry in any situation like a backup quarterback no matter who he is um is going to have to face a pretty tough schedule it’s an interesting spot for Georgia I I we’ve seen them fall or fluster a lot like even in Georgia Tech games um so if Beck isn’t there I I worry about George I I think that’s not getting enough talk like his elbow like he was he was severely hurt um so I would be curious to see his status Jeff thoughts on the college football playoff yeah one thing though mza there are games say you want to talk football we literally went over every game bro what what more do you want us to talk about you want to talk about did we leave any I don’t think we left anything what do you want us to talk about uh the the the the shoe size of these people I I don’t what else is there to say bro uh that said this doesn’t make any sense how does the top two seeds have the toughest Road does that make sense I I I don’t understand that I I have Argan 8 the one to win this thing and I see them get the winner of Tennessee Ohio State and I see Georgia who gets the winner of Notre Dame Indiana how does Boise and Arizona State the weakest two top four seeds get an easier road than them two I I don’t get that at all I was I thought that should be flopped and that’s the problem I have with the stupid number system why does Argan and Georgia get the four four of the toughest bottom seeds I don’t I don’t get that at all yeah it is interesting and you can make the argument too Indiana didn’t really beat anybody I know they got a good record it’s a great story they didn’t really beat anybody uh they’re in the playoff so if you’re if you’re knocking you know well Boise State or SMU who did they really beat Indiana didn’t beat anybody either they have to fill out the 12 teams it’s a money grab they want 12 teams yeah but switch it around then you should have put Arizona State against the winner of Ohio State Tennessee and and like that’s what you have to we have to give an incentive what is the incentive by the way to play a tough schedule seriously so we just pretend strength the schedule doesn’t work anymore SMU does not belong in this field I’m sorry and I’m not going to say Alabama does but SMU does not belong in this field they lost and we getting badly beaten in their conference title game look at their goddamn schedule for Christ’s sakes give me a effing break they do fired up Arizona State may be the most dangerous wild card team in this whole thing I mean they are expl they don’t have their best receiver now he’s injured but scabo the running back the quarterback levit they’re an opportunistic defense they are rolling yes they are that was really impressive and talk total college football what should you 100% be looking for in that situation on Fourth and short with a punter with a blown out knee a fake punt what were they not ready for the fake Punt and say what cor we have to remember he’s an offensive coach that’s the only thing I’m talking about right but what I will say about quarter and that’s the thing he is an offensive coach and he definitely knows a lot about quarterbacks and look remember I don’t I don’t look at analytics even the college football show in bet us I don’t know what the hell EPA is that’s the Environmental Protection Agency to me I I don’t I don’t know anything about that stuff but CPA CPA yes everybody has a different way of handicapping some people do it analytically like Corby and Parker I just look at um yards per carry and things like that it works for me it works for them I don’t knock people as far as yours I actually like him I don’t think Texas though is a team that the eye test tells us that they have not done anything and I think Clemson is really an undervalued type of team I think Klay clb I I’m a big fan of clb I don’t know what about you guys but there are times where I watch KUB Nick and I’m very impressed by him um and Dabo Sweeny give and dabo’s got a lot of postseason experience and a lot of college football playoff experience stay tuned I would have made this I would have made this number
