about some smaller stories including the fact that the Nationals have officially secured the number one overall draft pick in 2025 and we can basically already pencil in who’s going to get drafted number one overall the brother of Jackson holiday obviously the son of Matt holiday Ethan holiday he is a third baseman type of guy a first baseman type of guy he’s 6′ for already over 200 lb so we could very well have two holidays in the last few years going number one overall that’s insane so I just wanted to kind of let you guys know the Nationals they’re going to get Ethan holiday I don’t know what the Dodgers have up their sleeves but a few weeks ago they said that mooki Betts is going to go back to playing infield I assumed that he was going to be playing second or something like that because he was a terrible defensive Short Stop he’s going back to shortstop Tommy Edmond is going back to center field and mookie bets is going to get as much leash as physically possible this is according to the GM of the Dodgers Andrew Freeman and if you look at muki’s errors from last year he had a lot of them at shortstop a lot of them were throwing errors kind of like Fernando tatis Jr back in the day people just assumed he was an awful Defender because he made throwing errors he made a lot of good plays but again the errors they were bad throwing errors so if he can get that fixed he actually might be pretty good but clearly as you’ve seen as I’ve been talking he made quite a few of them so he’s got a ways to go like I mentioned in the intro eight years after the Red Sox acquired Chris saale from the white sock they’re basically getting a taller version of Chris saale and Garett crochet although that we can all agree that crochet is not as good as Chris Sale so let me break it down for you guys the Boston Red Sox are getting 25-year-old starter Garett crochet he wasn’t a starter before 2024 and also I do want to show this picture because it goes hard you have gar crochet standing with Tanner ha and jiren Duran at last year’s All-Star game I mean they basically told us the future before it happened once upon a time as a reliever Garrick crochet completely skipped the minor leagues he was drafted 11th overall in 2020 and he debuted 2 months later fast forward to 2024 again I thought that he was going to be the closer for the white sock but he became one of three starters in the history of baseball to have 200 plus strikeouts without reaching 150 Innings pitched in a single season I know that sounds mythical and borderline impossible but yes he did that he threw 146 Innings last year and racked up 209 strikeouts also the walks per nine were at 2.0 that is Tiny that is minuscule we haven’t seen that amount of strikeouts with that low amount of walks since sticky stuff gar Cole back in 2019 when he was on the Astros like we’re talking bearded gar Cole when this meme went viral like you go on Twitter you’re going to see this meme almost every other day the Red Sox get their brand new ace Tanner haal is fun Brian Bao he’s getting a lot of money but those guys are not better than Garrett crochet let’s get that out there also cutter Crawford he’s not better than Garrett crochet either don’t forget though Garrett Whitlock they call him the Warlock he’s coming back in 2025 now I’ve seen a lot of interviews and press conferences from Alex Kora he said literally out loud that Garrett he was okay as a starter for us and he was really good as a reliever that really makes me think that Garrett wilock will become a reliever all over again although last year before he got injured he had a 1.9 erra in his first four starts that’s pretty dang good but you have to remember that the Red Sox also utilized a rookie by the name of Richard Fitz yes I know it’s a funny name Richard Fitz as a five starter allows Garrett Whitlock to go back to the bullpen if you can go Garrett Whitlock aalis Chapman and Liam Hendricks for the seven eight and nine innings then you factor in a Greg Weiser and a Justin Slayton the Red Sox are instantly better all the way around in terms of a pitching staff so let’s talk about the white socks now who do they give up to get a 25-year-old star in Garrett crochet the white socks are beefing up their farm system they now have 10% of the top 60 prospects in all of baseball they have six of the top 59 we’ll talk about the rest of those guys in a second but the White Sox picked up 22-year-old catcher SL outfielder Kyle teal 2 2-y old outfielder Braden Montgomery 23-year-old infielder Chase meidroth which sounds like a Lord of the Rings armor plate it’s not meidroth it’s midro and they also picked up a 22-year-old starting pitcher Wilman Gonzalez let break each of these guys down a lot of fans across baseball are saying that Kyle teal is the prize of this trade I don’t think that’s the case Cil is very good he can play catcher he can play Outfield he has a combined 301 batting average and a 405 on base percentage in his modor League career and last year he kind of unlocked some speed as well he had 12 stolen bases out of nowhere Chris gets the GM of the White Soxs who made this trade has already basically hinted that Edgar quero who they got in the Lucas Deo trade he plays catcher it kind of seems like Kyle teal is going to be an outfielder moving forward but if he plays catcher don’t be surprised because that’s kind of his primary position with some Outfield sprinkled in Braden Montgomery is a full-fledged outfielder no if ANS or butts about it and if that name sounds familiar that’s because he was drafted just a few months ago he was the 12th overall pick and a lot of projections had him going in the top three the only reason why he didn’t is because of some injury concerns but at Texas A&M this year he hit 322 with 27 home runs and he has a rocket for an arm considering he tried to be a 2A player in college he was a terrible pitcher though getting Kyle teal and Braden Montgomery is already a pretty good return then you factor in 23-year-old infielder Chase midro who might be one of the more underrated prospects in all of baseball check this out last year he had 105 walks to 71 strikeouts his on base skills are absolutely Elite and he’s getting a lot of comps to Dustin padya maybe that’s because he was a Red Sox Prospect who got on base a lot and is not the tallest fella he’s going to the White Sox now so maybe there’s another comp or maybe it’s still padya and last but not least the white socks also picked up 22-year-old starter Wickman Gonzalez who had one of the crazier pitching lines I’ve ever seen back in 2023 listen to this he had a 5.8 year rate in 63 Innings which means that he was a trash can he was awful but in 63 Innings he had 105 strikeouts his biggest Bugaboo was not giving up hits his hits per nine was actually pretty good it was walks he was walking six hitters per nine innings so that’s the trade gar crochet goes to the Red Sox in exchange for four prospects and with the top two prospects that the white socks got they now have six top 60 prospects at number 16 Noah Schultz number 25 KY Teel who they just picked up 30 Hagen Smith 37 Coulson Montgomery this is going to get confusing we have Braden Montgomery at 54 and Edgar quero who is the catcher they got in that Lucas GTO trade the white socks are building something pretty good down on the South Side not going to lie I was starting to feel bad for my editor pesky talk make sure you guys go sub to him he’s in the comments somewhere down below but he’s a Red Sox fan they were losing out on everyone I was starting to feel like he was a Guardians fan so let me know who do you think won that trade because now let’s get delusional I’m not going to spend too much time on the Kyle Tucker to New York rumors but I do want to talk about them because the Astros have basically told the Yankees this is what we want if we’re going to give you Tucker for one year he’s a free agent after this next season so he’s going to be a rental we want Luis heel the Rookie of the Year now I don’t know if this is just copium or cop but I’ve seen a lot of people saying that Kyle Tucker is better than wodo are we watching the same game Kyle Tucker’s reads off the bat defensively are definitely better but let’s stop pretending like he’s icho Suzuki out there he’s not that fast and woto actually has a pretty good arm it kind of matches Kyle Tucker but defensive side since 2021 Kyle Tucker has a 19.1 f word you know the stat that Major League Baseball uses to give out Awards Fang graphs War he also has a 685 Ops in the playoffs Juan stto in the same stretch since 2021 has a 24.6 F4 and an almost 930 Ops in October in the playoffs when it matters the most I just wish that Yankees fans would say that hey Kyle Tucker’s very good he would be an excellent replacement for Juan sto as opposed to he’s just flat out better than Juan sto he’s not Aaron judge had to block Yankees fans left and right during oober because he got trolled that much because he was that bad yet he has a higher Ops in the playoffs than Kyle Tucker that’s the same guy who’s better than Wan sto who literally backpacked your entire franchise to the World Series stop fuzzy stirring the pot again yeah I’m back I’m back baby
