[Applause] what’s up you Beauties welcome to the high and wide hockey YouTube channel today we’re breaking down a topic that’s going to get Flyers fans buzzing Philadelphia’s search for a skilled Center Kevin kurs of the athletic has identified several intriguing trade targets including Trevor egis Marco Rossy Dylan cousins Shane pinto and Brock Nelson but which one makes the most sense for the rebuilding Squad of the philadelph flyers and what would it take to make a deal happen let’s dive into the options and see how these players could fit into the Flyers future so first obviously the Flyers need a center uh the Flyers depth that Center has been a concern for a while but this season it’s become even more apparent that they need a long-term solution especially if they want to maximize Matt Bay mv’s potential as Kevin Kur put it finding him a skilled Center to play with is vital but the big question is who fits the bill so let’s break down some trade targets and let’s take a closer look at the names Kur mentioned in his article starting with the youngest and working our way to the most experienced of the centers we’re going to talk about today uh first let’s get to Trevor zis and I’ll get his highlight tape up here 23 years old and has undeniable talent and creativity but his game has been called one-dimensional by critics while he’s improved defensively Anaheim has used him more on the wing this season which might diminish his appeal as a center Target and let’s not forget having two young high-profile players like mechkov and zus on one team could be a recipe for magic or disaster and now since uh creating uh this video Trevor zis Has uh he’s out for I believe it’s six weeks with a knee injury so I’m not sure if that’s going to hinder anything but it’s something to keep in mind uh you know for Flyers fans and for potential trades next up on our list here is Marco Rossi and rossy’s also 23 he’s in the midst of a breakout season with 25 points in 30 games for the Minnesota Wild rossy’s mix of skill Youth and upside makes him a prime candidate for the Flyers and according to Kur there’s speculation that Minnesota could move on from him especially with Scott lton being a potential trade piece going back the other way um that’s interesting Scott Lawton four goal night the other night uh I don’t know maybe the Iron’s getting hot there we’ll see uh let’s talk about the next two on our list and that’s Dylan cousins and Shane Pinto both are coming off less than impressive 2023 2024 seasons and have seen their scoring dip even further this season the challenge with these two teams is their their current teams the sabes and the senators are in the midst of figuring out what to do with their season so prying these guys away would likely require a significant offer that said as Jeff marrick pointed out if Buffalo falls out of the playoff race they might make a deal they wouldn’t otherwise have considered in Ottawa according to Frank sah Valley they’re already looking to shake things up and is Scott lton a name to consider with those two teams as well maybe they need a little bit more veteran presence and we know that Scott lton is you know that’s his his his number one tra excuse me trait or characteristic is his veteran president a great locker room guy so we’ll see maybe he’s maybe that’s what those locker rooms are missing someone to kind of bring the guys together there so let’s get to our last candidate on our list here and that’s one Brock Nelson who I did not expect to see on the list but I’m not mad about it either Brock Nelson is the most experienced player on the list and at 33 years old he’s more likely to appeal to a playoff Contender than a rebuilding team like the Flyers plus as a UFA has future depends on the Islanders playoff hopes and contract decisions later this season Nelson’s skill is undeniable but he might not align with Philadelphia’s long-term vision and so I want to know from from you guys which sard do you think makes the most sense uh so who’s the best fit if we’re talking about long-term strategy that could be Marco Rossi feels like the most logical option he’s young skilled already proving he can perform at the NHL level plus if the Flyers do decide to move on from Morgan Frost they could redirect that money towards signing a player like Rossy who is also a pending restricted free agent so obviously when we talk trades and stuff like this guys there’s always a catch someone’s got to go the other way who would it be who could be names that come up and you know you’re not you’re not sending out your garbage for these guys you know you’re not trading uh Morgan Frost or eigor zamas for these players uh not that those guys are garbage no offense uh so obviously acquiring players of of these talents would mean parting with a young Prospect young assets and Tyson Foresters are names that that’s come up in in the last uh couple weeks I I wouldn’t agree with that but he’s he’s a name that’s come up uh what about Joel faraby both players have been mentioned as potential trade chips of of recently and would the Flyers be willing to move these players to secure a center of the future I want to know who what you guys think who would you move something that makes sense you know so at the end of the day flyers decision will come down to timing and cost if they’re serious about finding Mech a skilled Center Rossy Pinto or even zis could be worth pursuing but the price tag and the Flyers willingness to pay it will determine if a deal actually happens um what do you think hockey fans should Philly go all in for a young Center like Rossy or cousins or is this a move they should wait on would you be willing to part with a player like Tyson Forester
