all right folks gather round we got ourselves some hot off the grill Chief’s news and let me tell you this one’s going to make y’all spit out your sweet tea laughing now I’m your friendly neighborhood Chiefs fan you know the one hollering at the TV every Sunday and I just had to bring you this because well nobody saw this coming so picture this Steve spagnolo the defensive Guru himself kind of like the Yoda of Kansas City’s defense has been pulling off his Jedi tricks again now you might be wondering what’s spags up to this time well let me paint you a picture my friend imagine taking a shiny new tractor you know the kind with all the bells and whistles and just letting it idle in the barn for half the season sounds crazy right that’s spagnolo’s whole deal with these rookies he’s got this magic little formula he’s been using for years he kind of eases these Young Bucks into the game like he’s baking a pie starts off slow lets him marinate a bit then bam there out there making big time plays and this year the secret ingredient is rookie safety Jaden Hicks now old Jaden started the season like my Uncle Earl starts a barbecue slow and steady first six games dude was barely on the field I’m talking about three snaps per game three that’s less action than a cow at a dog show but here we are folks late in the season and spags has cranked the dial up on this kid Hicks is now out there for 15 snaps a game on average and last week against the Chargers my man hit a season high with 26 snaps That’s What I Call stepping up spag wolo had some high praise for Jaden this week and I’ll tell you it’s the kind of Praise that makes you want to Puff out your chest like a rooster at Sunrise he said Hicks has been long and no that doesn’t mean he’s been taking naps and meetings it’s Football Talk y’all means the kids got reach spags also mentioned how Hicks has a knack for covering folks and going after the ball like my dog chases the mailman apparently back at Washington State Hicks was out there snagging interceptions like they were free samples at the county fair and hey if he can start doing that for the Chiefs we’re talking about some serious game changing plays here people now let’s be real our defense this year has been hotter than a jalapeno in July but we’ve had one little hiccup turnovers we’re tied for the second fewest in the league which ain’t exactly something to brag about but Hicks he’s already got one pick under his belt from back in week seven against the 49ers if he can grab a few more we might just be looking at a defense that can carry us all the way to the promised land or as I like to call it Super Bowl Sunday so there you have it folks Jaden Hicks our rookie secret weapon is out there making moves spagnuolo is playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers and I for one am loving it what do y’all think is Hicks going to be the guy who puts our defense over the top or is this just another one of bags experiments let me know in the comments below and don’t forget to hit that like button if you love the Chiefs as much as I do all right that’s all for now y’all take care and go Chiefs
