welcome back everyone my name is Patrick you’re watching the Oilers rundown broadcast on the Oilers fanatic and the heavy hockey Network it’s game day here in Edmonton the Edmonton Oiler St Louis Blues going down tonight at 8:00 pm It’s the Return of Philip broberg and Dylan Holloway to Edmonton both famously signing a double offer sheet going to the St Louis Blues back in August was it and yeah it was a day that I woke up to the news was completely shocked I think pretty much all of Edmonton was shocked I mean there was some talk before then about offer sheets possibly being signed but offer sheets are so rarely signed in today’s NHL that I don’t think anyone really seriously believed that it was actually going to happen I know I’ve had a few commenters here on the channel that said they saw it coming and kudos to you if you did but I just did not think we were going to see an offer sheet for either Dylan Holloway or Philip roberg it happens apparently there was a few teams in on it the Calgary Flames another team and then a third mystery team was also considering doing the double offer sheet with Holloway and broberg they end up going to the St Louis Blues they’re both off to hot starts broberg has 12 points two goals and 10 assists in 15 games hallay has 16 points eight goals and eight assists both of them have battled some injuries since becoming St Louis Blues but for the most part off to a very strong start with their brand new team as a result of those guys leaving the Oilers brought in facil pod koul and Tai Amberson pod koulen has started to come on here for the Edmonton Oilers he’s played pretty well right from the start but since getting paired with dry cidal we’ve seen some of that offense start to come Tai Emerson’s game has grown as well but no doubt whatsoever we would obviously still love to have Philip roberg and Dylan hallway with this team there was an article put out by Mark I think Tyson touched on it over on DOL TV in his video today there was some blame going Jay Wood’s way that Philip that he was the reason that Philip broberg left town because he wasn’t giving broberg the ice time Vinnie day or a was being valued over broberg and there’s a lot of blame to go around you could probably throw some blame Jay woodcrafts way but there’s a lot to go Ken Holland’s way some to go Jeff Jackson’s way I think it’s a learning point for multiple people in this organization we want to bring in veterans the Oilers are in that cup win now mode and usually veterans are the key to that but you have to have a good mix in today’s NHL with the salary cap of young prospects coming in that’s why it’s exciting now for the Oilers to have Matt seavoy acquired for Ryan McLoud earlier this summer and drafting Sam O’Reilly with the team’s first round pick this year so the Oilers finally have some of those guys coming but they had two of those guys here in Philip broberg and Dylan Holloway and lost both of them and yeah they were overpaid for sure for what they’re contributing but already off to hot starts like I said with the St Louis Blues so should the Oilers have just kept Dylan Hall away not signed Jeff Skinner given hallway that opportunity like I said there’s lessons to be learned here I’m not saying anybody’s perfect or anybody should take a huge amount of the blame here there’s blame to go around we all make mistakes here lessons to be learned but you have to give these guys opportunity to grow to make an impact in your organization and I think Dylan Holloway and Philip broberg are obviously the biggest examples of that for this Edmonton Oilers organization going forward find those young guys give them opportunity and hopefully a different result can come in the future we’re not dealing with guys leaving on offer sheets though with this summer went maybe we will still see more offer sheets in the years to come maybe not necessarily for the Edmonton Oilers but it may become a more common thing so just wanted to touch on that with today’s theme the Oilers and the blues I don’t think we’re going to see any changes lineup wise here for the Edmonton Oilers I haven’t seen anything to this point so I’m guessing we have this exact same lineup here that I’ll throw up here for you guys I’m guessing steuart Skinner gets the start here for the Edmonton Oilers tonight and yeah obviously this is a game the M Oilers I think would love to have I think Dylan Holloway and Philip broberg will be motivated on the St Louis Blues to kind of take it to their old team as well and I’m sure there’ll be some cheers and jeers from the crowd for both guys but yeah both teams winners of four their last five so it should be a good matchup here tonight in Edmonton before I close out today’s video I did have a special guest interview that I wanted to share with you guys new friend of mine Jack we became friends shortly after the Philip roberg and Dylan Holloway offer sheets happened started talking back and forth he’s obviously a big St Louis Blues fan so thought I’d share that interview that we recorded last night with you guys here you can check it out all right everybody welcoming in my special guest now Jack St Louis Blues fan we’ve been chatting since the Philip roberg Dylan Holloway offer sheets Jack welcome to the show maybe give a little introduction to about yourself how long you’ve been a Blues fan stuff like that thank you for having me Patrick I been a Blues fan for quite some time I’ve been start really fallowing to Blues I would say during 20 2014 2015 when my um when my dad started getting um special Suites down at um what used to be called Scott Trade Center now called Enterprise Center and um ever since we did those yearly um trips with the sweets I would say I started fing in love with the sport and I do have history of um going to school with some man Ellers sorry oers fans I but Matthew kchu was my classmate and I was I was happy for him this um the with when the Stanley Cup I also was um I went to school with Jason Tatum and went to school with Bru so there’s a lot of um history of athletes I went to school with but I know Matthew kachuck is a big no no in Oilers country yeah for multiple reasons he started out on the wrong team and the team he went to was okay for a while his second team but obviously after the Stanley Cup finals last year he remains a big no no uh yeah fights between him and Zach Cassian used to be legendary and that’s where he got the infamous Turtle nickname from when he pretty much refused to fight Cassie and going down into a little cowering thing and he had a good uh back and forth with Evander Keane in the Oilers flame Series so yeah he’s definitely a hated guy here in Edmonton and even more now after the Stanley Cup finals oh I’m not surprised you know I haven’t forgotten about the time when um Zack C and threw him around though I thought even though I I always root for him CU you know he’s a because he’s somebody that I cared about though and stuff though I was like that was tough to see because he he got kick out of him sorry my part my French but he really did yeah no for sure all right well we’re here to talk about the mton Oilers in St Louis Blues game which will be happening today as I recorded this last night but be posting it for everyone here on game day for the Oilers and blues how excited were you when you found out that the St Louis Blues had successfully offer sheet Dylan Hollow and Philip roberg well I found out in the morning when um when I found out on Instagram that the blues did a trade with the Pittsburgh panrs to get their second round draft pick back from the Kevin Hayes trade that we did this offseason um we traded Kevin Hayes along with a second round pick to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a future um consideration then what was it I think August 13th when the trade happened I was I was confused I was like why did this trade happen I I have no idea why then not even an hour to trade I got the news that the offer sheet news broke out then I was like what and it turns out Dylan holl was one of them and I saw the I mean I saw the stainley Cup finals I saw how well they did did and then sure enough Philip broberg was offra as well I was like oh my gosh and this is the first time that an offer sheet happened since JP cck Miami got offer sheated by the hurricanes and sure enough this was in Revenge I’m sure when the hurricane well no not the Hurricanes when the Canadians offer sheita Sebastian AO five years $42.29 million sure enough six days later the Hurricanes match that offer sheet well this time I mean it was what a one year was it 1.6 or 1.1 something like no no $6.1 million deal that he signed with the hurricanes and oddly enough I thought was funny in that though how he was offered a $20 signing bonus because that’s Sebastian ao’s number so it’s sure enough it’s like in Revenge with Sebastian AO though but this offer sheet I was shocked because I had no idea they were rfas until it broke out though and sure enough this was a double offer sheet let alone one so first ever double offer sheet in NH history was a success for the blues not list and what are your initial thoughts of Dylan Hollow and Philip broberg now that they are St Louis Blues and I think both off to a pretty good start in St Louis oh they are you know I heard some stuff about Philip roberg how he requested a trade and stuff though and how I don’t know what happened between the Oilers and um Philip robberg I really don’t but Philip roberg he’s been unreal I mean yesterday against the Flames was his first ever two-point game he’s had a minus game three times I believe this season so far one it was against the Winnipeg Jets Montreal Canadians and the Philadelphia Flyers Dylan Hall on the other hand I think he’s been great I mean he has think he’s like third in points so far and um he just got I mean he had a great performance against the Flames he was he was one of the assists secondary assists along with Robert Thomas for colen paro’s um game winning a goal against the Flames I know Oilers country is sure happy with um whenever the Flames lose but um abolutely overall I’ve been very impressed with them and um I think Philip broberg especially with um how well he’s been on the blue line I expect him to be a blue for a very long time with how he’s been playing I haven’t been this excited of a young defenseman of Philip roberg since I would say petrangelo Paro yeah broberg looked amazing for us in the Stanley Cup finals last year it really hurt to lose both of those guys I thought for initially when the news broke that they were going to match at least one of them but ultimately both go we found out later that the Calgary Flames and one other mystery team were also in the bidding there and the St Louis Blues were ultimately picked as the best destination both guys wanted to go there and from what I’ve seen from afar Dylan hallway and Philip broberg have looked like a great fit with the St Louis Blues with the struggles of Jeff Skinner I’ve been thinking oh maybe Dylan Holloway would have been a better fit there than Jeff Skinner could have got Dylan Holloway for a little bit cheaper as well but I don’t know how do you think they fit in the lineup so far and where have we seen Dylan Holloway and Philip broberg in the St Louis Blues lineup as hallway been a top six guy or a bottom six Guy broberg where is he been in the pairings I would say d and Hollow has definitely been a top six so far he’s actually been on the first line a couple times with Jake neighbors and um Robert Thomas this year as for broberg I was at the game against some the maple leads when he got injured I was feared that um you know he was going to be out for quite some time sure enough it was only four weeks of what injury he suffered I don’t know I’m assuming it was a um it was a um spray knee or something like that because it looked bad when Mitch Marner fell on his leg though but once he came back he was on he was on the second line with Justin Faulk for a little bit but most recently last game against the Flames he was on the top line with pero and he looked outstanding I mean he had his first like I said I don’t know if I said it earlier though but he had his first um twoo game as a blue and he looked absolutely fantastic joining in on the rush um just going in on a place and um he’s been defending incredibly well so Jack before we wrap up here I’m going to ask two questions a score prediction for tonight’s game between the Oilers and blues and do Philip and sorry and do Philip roberg and Dylan hollway get points I could definitely see Philip roberg and Dylan hway getting points though I don’t know I definitely can see um McDavid and dryy going off a little bit as well and I’m sure whenever McDavid plays my dad watches more than anything uh because my dad I mean who doesn’t love watching Conor MC David regardless what team he faces but do the score predictions I do want to say I’m always biased I want to say probably 3-1 or 3-2 blo but it could go either way both teams have been playing pretty well though as of late yeah the Oilers uh winning four their last five I think they probably should have beaten Vegas too they played they were the better team in that game so should really be on a five-game win streak right now but we’ll take what we can get and for my last question who is on that Jersey that you’re wearing there Jack former Oiler and St Louis Legend Chris Pronger I’m proud to um have his jersey in my collection my um I’m my mom does Pilates with his wife and um she’s a really she’s um really nice from what I’ve heard and Chris is a is a local in this area it’s been living in St Louis for 20 years but I’m proud to have his um Jersey in my collection yeah that’s a name that was not too popular around here I think most people have forgived and forgotten by now but probably still a few people holding a grudge against Mr Pronger but uh when he came into Tini had a hell of a year helped the Oilers get to the Stanley Cup finals that year and just like last year they were one win away from capturing the Stanley Cup that year so special player for both teams so I think I’ll wrap it up there Jack but thank you for joining me today and we’ll have to have you back another time I’m sure the Oilers and blues will be back at it a few more times this year at least I think we play at least three times this year so have to have another chat later on but uh thank you for joining me today Jack it was a pleasure to have you here on the Oilers rundown I’ll see you on February 4th I’ll be heading to that game I’ll talk to you afterwards sounds good thanks Jack I hope you guys enjoyed the interview thanks again to jack for coming in and doing the interview and we should have a couple more to come as the others and blue face off another two times this season so I think that’s all I got for now guys but let me know your thoughts on Dylan hallay Philip roberg what all happened there what you think’s going to happen in the game
