on Saturday JMU had a 78-61 victory over Utah Valley improving their record to 6 and four on the year Utah Valley actually got off to a very hot start just 3 minutes into the game the Wolverines found themselves up 10 to3 the Dukes ended up regaining the lead with just over 14 minutes left in the first half and they managed to hold on to that lead for the rest of the game and to be fair going into this matchup Utah Valley didn’t stand that much of a chance coming off three consecutive losses the Dukes never had under a 75% chance to win at any point throughout this game according to ESPN one area in this game where the Dukes especially thrived was shooting efficiency leading up to this game JMU shot just 35% from Beyond The Arc however in this contest they shot 50% from Beyond The Arc making 13 of their 26 attempted threes speaking of three three-pointers Utah Valley could not make any of them they shot just five of 21 from Beyond The Arc in this matchup which is 24% the Wolverines had just one player knocked down multiple three-pointers in terms of jmu’s box score look no further than Bryce Lindsay who led the Dukes with 18 points Off the Bench Lindsay also drained four three-pointers what’s really interesting is the fact that Lindsay played more minutes than both Xavier Brown and Mark Freeman even if Lindsay continues to to dominate Off the Bench like he has so far this season I don’t see him becoming a starter of course this is not because he doesn’t deserve it but the extra offensive spark he brings to the Duke’s second unit is something that they can’t afford to lose for obvious reasons some other notable performances from this game were Xavier Brown who had seven assists to go along with just one turnover he also knocked down three three-pointers Eddie Ricks had one of his more efficient games as the starter shooting two of three from the field both of his baskets coming from Beyond The Arc he also made a big impact defensively Ebenezer danana had three blocks in only 15 minutes AJ Smith finished the game with three steals as well as seven boards J’s next match up is on the road against Wake Forest who are eight and three on the year make sure you follow the department of Hoops for more
