cannot wait for Mitchell Robinson we don’t know when he’s going to be available whatever issues this Nick team has they got to start fixing now the defensive woles have to stop now the offense has to keep clicking we need consistency you already saw what we did with the Hawks you already saw what happened with Orlando but we need to continue to push it and keep going and believe in ourselves you know not only as the fans but the players got to start believing in themselves because they seem like they’re a little hesitant with what’s going on out there but anyway there’s a lot to talk about right I don’t know that’s all I got what’s going on guys how’s everything doing how how you doing John I’m good man man excited to be here I’m excited that I’m not I’m coming off of a code so excuse me if I have to you know step aside and cough something up and then come right back to it but I’m it’s still lingering a little bit but I’m I’m better I’m good and I’m happy to be here all right dope dope dope and listen man this this like I said guys y’all don’t understand this is a long time coming Steph has taking you know moments out of her busy schedule to join me sometimes on Saturday show for no the ledge whenever she’s free and can make it she Pops in but you know this all started with our Monday night show this is our Flagship show me and John holding it down with with Jose and we’ve never had a chance to get Steph on because in my mind there’s always been a conflict in schedule like she’s on when we’re on we’re always kind of overlapping a little bit I’m like how can we do this but you know Steph told me her show is on at a certain time because she can be a little bit more flexible she wants to give us a little Grace out here in these streets too that’s NPK fam right there so it’s finally here step how are you doing glad to have you and Steph just came off with doing her show so appreciate you Steph yeah I’m doing I’m doing pretty good um enjoying watching the Knicks and enjoying their their process um I’m I’m happy to be on it’s always good to be with you Ron and John just really cool dudes you know nbk fam all the way I had the opportunity to meet both of you um and it’s nothing but love so I can’t believe this is my first time on but to your point um Queen’s Court usually goes at the same time but this year I said you know what you know the fam love that nbk fam love I’m G be finished at 9 o’cl I’m going from 7:30 to 9 990 minutes that’s it and so now I’m able to be on listen this is great this is great finally can make it happen because we definitely you know I think we’ve had everybody from from the nbk F even though the nbk fam is is all it’s big and it’s always growing uh I think we’ve pretty much had all the Staples on here except you so you you the The Last of the Mohicans I’m happy to have you here and um definitely dope to to not only be able to talk basketball talk Nick basketball with you but also to kind of you know get into the to the life of Steph a little bit because quite honestly you know what I mean like we do this it’s a labor of love for some of us to be out here doing this and talking about our New York Knicks but it’s also the fact that you know we have real lives we have other things going on we make time to be these content creators but you know there’s stories how we got here where did the love affair with the Knicks come from like what started it all and you know this is a great place to share it so starting with the first question that we love to start with where did it all start for you Steph how did your love of New York Nick basketball start when you were young where did it all come from I think it started with just my love of basketball I was just flipping the channels of the TV at I think I was 14 and I came across an NBA game and I was like wow you know you would think I’m living under a rock I’m like wow you know so I was I was watching the game I was a 76er fan first because I’m a Dr J fan you know um and then probably it could have been that season or the next season it’s hard for me to remember I became a Nick fan at a time when I mean we talk about truck Robinson we talking about Pat Cummings talking about the Knicks just weren’t good um Bernard King was hurt um I don’t even think I seen Bernard King play with the niick so this was like maybe the 83 84 season some something like that um and I was a big Georgetown fan as well so I was watching the Knicks I was a big Georgetown fan but it was cemented when we drafted Patrick Yan because that was my guy in college you know and I remember watching the the draft and when we got excuse me the lottery when we got that number one pick the entire building shook like you could feel the building shaking people were so excited and clapping and stomping um and it’s been a love of fear ever since ever since Pat Riley I know that’s a taboo name right now Jeff Van Gundy um those were my guys man those those were my guys so yeah that’s where that’s where it started it it started in the early 80s but it really started when we drafted Patrick Hui those are good times yeah those are definitely definitely yeah I mean it kind of shaped my childhood that’s what got me to to start loving the Knicks and just seeing what they’re about I wish I was old enough to understand what I was watching uh but you know I was a little kid I was like oh basketball yay I didn’t know what I excited they brought everybody back and I was like is that Rory Sparrow you know so yeah I remember him and Louis or and Trent Tucker I was like wow wow yeah that’s dope man so uh John always has a question I should let him ask his own question why John your question that you always ask yeah well no I mean I’m actually going to change it up a little bit because no speaking to you uh Steph you know when when we meet up and we connect uh during nbk events you know you you have a very astute way of looking at basketball and and the way that you know the game is played and so tell me a little bit about how that came to be like when did you really start to study basketball and how how did that M sort of come into play for you as a you know did did you play yourself and like what was that where did that come from I did and I played late I played in college division three ccny of the City University of New York Athletic Conference I believe it was but I was a late bloomer right I didn’t go out for my high school team until I was a junior and I knew nothing at the time I mean I knew how to shoot I knew how to layer but in terms of understanding the game I didn’t know anything um and I learned a lot my junior year in college excuse me in high school my my senior year in high school and then I was recruited because I was tall I I I didn’t know how to play um and then when I went to college I sat my first two years freshman year sophomore year I didn’t play at all barely um and then I sat out a year um because I it took me five years to to to finish college and nursing school so my last two years I was like really ready to play like I really understood the game I really my skills was up shout out to Larry Fuller who passed away a few years ago he was a coach out in Coney Island and he used to hold open gym at Star City and I would go down with him and he would show me you know um the the the fundamentals of the game but he also helped me mentally the mental aspect of the game so shout out to him and and when I started coaching he was actually my assistant coach for a few years um and I played with some some girls who really knew how to play you know the two years that I sat and in the two years that I played I was a big part of that team and so I’ve i’ I’ve been I know what it’s like to sit on the bench I know what it’s like to sit out a year and watch I know what it’s like to be one of the best players on the team whereas if you don’t show up the team’s chances of winning is less I know what it means to play in championship games because I was a part of four conference championships as a player we won all four two of them I was on the bench but two of them I was a big part of so I know what it’s like to prepare for a championship game and it’s division three but I do think even though the competition is different certain things are the same you know in in terms of prep and being ready so I I’ve had that experience of playing in championship games and then the soon as I graduated I became assistant coach for my alamada so I know what it’s like to be an assistant coach and when the assistant coach left I became head coach and I was head coach for nine Seasons so wow yeah I was head coach coach for for 19 I was young though I was in my in my 20s and so even though I can’t like get down ex’s and old wise like like these coaches and the NBA because we weren’t playing on you know on that level I do have insights about what it’s like to bench coach what it’s like to um try to get team your team to execute um like that type of knowledge I have and I think that’s probably why I give Tom Tibido so much Grace right is is because I know what it’s like to um prepare bench coach and make mistakes too you know and I also know what it’s like to have more factors going to your decision than those who are watching know about it because I can’t tell you how many times after game my friends would be like well what what made you make that decision what made you do that instead of you know doing this and sometimes it’s feel um sometimes is you know your players and you know that this player can’t do this or we’ve been struggling so I ain’t gonna even try to do that and so when I explain it they be like all right I get the decision and then the understanding that you can make the right decision given you know the factors you’re dealing with you’re aware of and it doesn’t work out and you can make a wrong decision like ah you know what let’s just do this and it works out you know what I mean so just because the outcome is good or bad doesn’t mean the decision you know was was good or bad so my Year’s coaching again not the x’s and O stuff because this NBA x’s and O stuff is way above my league quite honestly but the bench coaching leading a team how a team’s develop through the course of a season what it’s like to prepare for a championship G like I have that um experience and I kind of bring that um to to my takes as well yeah and and definitely it’s something you could see yeah yeah um shout out to coach coach sire in the chat he says we hear it in your analysis respect yeah that’s a fact salute to you coach um so yeah I mean that’s interesting and I knew this already but it’s nice to kind of hear a little bit because I didn’t know you did it for nine years this is pretty dope um so it’s good to kind of have a chance to kind of pick your brain and really get to understand who you are and how you got here um the other thing I always wanted to know is being that you’ve seen the Knicks in different iterations and you uh were excited about what what you got to see in the 80s and early 90s do you have a favorite Nick I don’t know era I don’t want to say team it could be an era like a favorite time that you remember like you know that was your favorite time being a Nick fan yeah it it was the Pat Riley Van Gundy years I was a big Magic Johnson is I only have four favorite players and Magic Johnson is one I watched the the Lakers all the time I was a big fan of Pat Riley as well when he came to the Knicks I was super excited and I was coaching at the time I would watch pregame I would watch the game I would watch post game I want to hear what Pat Riley has to say um and I think and and and in all honesty I think that’s a big reason why I’m a fan of Tom Tibido because he comes from that that era and there’s a lot of things ways they approach the game that I also um approach the game as well but that Pat Riley era that Van Gundy era that I loved it I loved it because it was about defense it was about hard it was about and it was ugly basketball oh my God the Knicks would have a a uh if they was down eight I would be like we only got eight minutes left they down eight I don’t know if we gonna be able to make this up I mean that’s how ugly the basketball was it was just very difficult to score but the defense yeah and how they grinded it out um yeah I loved it that was my favorite era and I think that’s why I was excited about Tom because by that time the Knicks I don’t know if we can curse the Knicks were a is show um right you know coming coming from that to the years in between some of the stuff we was doing I was like we pissing off the basketball guards like we not even playing basketball like when when F fsel was here and I I I think he was treated unfairly you know like the Nicks acting like he was doing it himself like the they weren’t lock step with him in terms of how they were approaching the season I’m not saying he was a great coach but I felt like they turned on him at the end but the idea of what I thought they were doing at the time was treating a regular season like a 82 game scrimmage you know oh I put RJ Barrett in because you know he’s going to need to know how to shoot free throws down the end and I’m like yo we don’t need to be Manufacturing opportunities we’re not a good team just play regular basketball try to win he’ll have these opportunities so that was the type of stuff that was kind of pissing you know pissing me off you know um and so when when Leon Rose came and then tibo I was like dang can we get back to some basketball here like just reset the culture let’s get back to playing the game the way it’s supposed to be played without generating this and we trying to do just regular basketball so yeah that’s I’m not sure what the question was but that’s the answer no you you answered it you answered it um yeah no you answered it thank you for that and um yeah it’s like I I I think a lot of us can agree some you know Nick fans we can be a certain way when it comes to our team we we want success right away we’ve seen a lot of losing Seasons we haven’t had a championship in over 50 years so there’s a lot of frustration we won everything now but we can’t we can’t uh forget the fact that Tom Tibido has brought in a winning culture to this Nick team we do have uh on on the surface and identity we may not have the proper Personnel to execute the identity but the identity has been there um and he’s definitely fed into that so yeah I definitely I hear you on that and um really really dope dope that’s why it’s great great to be able to chop it up with you Steph and so without further Ado but before we go there I’m kind of interested in knowing you said you had five favorite players right so I’m assuming Patrick was one you did say you did say magic and you said Dr J so who was the fifth actually only four I like Dr J but he’s not so it’s it’s Patrick magic Alan Iverson and Cheryl swoops those are my four favorite swoops incredible F geta swoops was always the fun I don’t mean to cut you off Steph but swoops was always swoops and um and Lisa Leslie were always the two female basketball players that I’m like they so good I think they could give the dudes a run for their money I always felt like they was something Cheryl swoops was incredible cherl for sure Cheryl for sure I I didn’t get to see um Cheryl Miller play right and so there was always conversations about Sher her game right but never got actually got an opportunity to see her play just like highlights but seeing sh swoops play was like next level it was like man she was the Michael Jordan a female basketball at the time yeah SW today’s day I don’t think anyone has really been able to like accomplish what he she did in the basketball court as far as scoring that’s a fact yeah I think what I was attracted to was just that she was a Silent Assassin like she she there wasn’t there wasn’t a lot of emotion you know when she played she just she just went out there and made it happen and all of the times that you know the Liberties went Liberty went to the finals and weren’t able to make it it was really hard to get through Houston and Cheryl swoops Not only was she a good offensive player she was a good defensive player you couldn’t even run your offense to the side that she was guarding you know if she was guarding that wing on that side you had to run your offense to the other side so yeah she was one of my and then I have others Dr J I like Carmelo Anthony you know is one of my favorite but those four yeah that’s the top of it it’s a nice four Cher swops yeah oh did you have any other questions John so now no further Ado okay so now without further Ado um we can get to our current Nick team and what’s been going on but uh uh real quick I just want to give a shout out to the chat do a little quick roll call shout may be tuned in uh that aren’t in the chat and also tuning in on uh X watching us appreciate all of y’all so oh shout out pre the boss I see you um guys uh it didn’t this week was a short week as far as games go it didn’t start off the way we would have envisioned it the way we would have liked we thought we might be playing uh in a tournament in Vegas uh didn’t really happen that way because we had to go and face Rayford Trey young boy boy boy anyway the Nick wound up playing um the Atlanta Hawks for a chance to go to Vegas and unfortunately it did not turn out the way we would have liked the Atlanta Hawks wound up beating us 108 to 100 oh boy you talk about disappointing anytime we lose to Atlanta it’s disappointing and then to lose to Atlanta and let rord do his thing on the court come on man what are we doing here like come on anyway uh yeah so that’s what happened guys and you know we got we got some highlights I mean this is this is what took place Steph what what what was your thoughts on this whole Atlanta game man yeah I I was I was disappointed um you know as much as I I like Tibido there was a few things about this game that I questioned and you know going into the game I remember I was texting AJ and I was was like I wonder what the coaching staff what Tibido was going to dial up to try to get Brunson free from Dyson Daniels we’ve seen him before we know the type of perimeter Defender he is and I didn’t see much um in term schematically to kind of help Brunson out um and then I also didn’t see I thought we could have took advantage of Trey young a bit more on the you know defensively because he’s not a good defensive player I think they were hiding him on Josh Hart so I thought that you know there was some things we we you know we could have you know we could have done there um so yeah I I was disappointed I thought we left some we left some meat on the bone um you know in that in that game it was really hard for Brunson you know and I and I saw him you know playing against Dame it was hard for Dame too you know there just some things you have to do to just make it easier um for him and then I wonder if that would have been the difference in the game yeah no I I I hear you that I you would have loved to see them do some different things to free up Brunson I think the Knicks and and and that that is what points to Tom Tibido because you I feel like the one thing I get on Tom tibo about game in and game out I mean I don’t get on him about it but I always see it I and I just wish he doesn’t like he’s got very talented basketball players on his team and I feel like he relies on that Talent too much just because they’re really good and you know they can do certain things doesn’t mean you don’t have to help them out like helping them out just makes it even better all you’re doing is getting them going giving them an opportunity to get their that some type of Rhythm and then they can go from there so I always wonder why Tom tibo doesn’t do more to get these guys nice good open looks easy baskets we rely too much on the three-point shot we are a good team we shoot 40% from three but still there’s always going to be a game where you’re struggling to shoot and then if you’re struggling to shoot and playing a team that’s playing good defense on your perimeter uh guys it’s a bad recipe and so I always get a little upset with that and um and so much that I want to get over to John I was so upset about this game that I did my first ever members only content video and I was dragging I was like hey everybody Welcome to the members only like that was in a bad mood man I was like gez yeah but anyway that that that game pissed me off John what was your thoughts on it so so that’s what our subscribers are getting bro come on yeah no no that they gonna get they gonna get me the turned up me from now on you’re gonna have to you’re gonna have to take some go take a take a minute you know what I mean for yourself go to Doug take a I was in my feelings bro I was in my feelings that’s crazy no mean it’s it’s it’s pretty much the same thing that you both have said already it’s really about like coach tibs making in-game adjustments right it’s it it has been you know the moments where where we’re in tough games against a strong athletic team like the like the Hawks like Houston like any other those teams that are young uh they have young talented players who can get up and down the floor he struggles with making adjustments um we we lack the size in in this game you know in certain areas not in all areas but in C C areas we lack size and um athletic ability and they took full advantage of that I think more more importantly we weren’t able to again attack their weakness which is of course Trey young being on the court and having a mismatch especially if we put him down in the post he wouldn’t be able to handle any one of our guards um or forwards for that matter um so yeah 100% on the money is it’s really about endgame adjustments and I was not even being able to play um def I I was say us playing poor defense off the pick and row is something we also struggle heavily uh with um specifically with a guard of you know Trey Young and the way he can play the pick and row um you know it it’s very hard for cat and our um and and just on our switching very hard for us to stay in front of guys you know what I mean we’re always either overplaying it or underplaying it and so it the options are too many for for a team like the the Hawks you know cuz they they do a good job of passing off of the double team as well so um you know and when they’re knocking down three-point shots or open shots is it makes it even more difficult so this was one of those games where you know um we went down and we couldn’t you know we struggled to to be in the game you know uh throughout um and um you know timley Hoops came down to Tomley hoops and then in the fourth quarter you know you pull away when you’re you’re not um you know playing well defensively so um that to me was was the biggest uh you know setback for us I I felt like it was a setback cuz we were sort of riding a was it a three- game win streak that we were riding into that game I think we had one three in a row could I could be wrong but I think it was may have been like three in a row and we were going into there excited about hey we got an opportunity to show off show out against the Atlantic Hawks oh no no actually no actually we we had just beat Toronto but we lost to Detroit the game prior oh so we lost okay so take that back so either way I I felt like going into that game we had a good opportunity to to show out you know and um you know it sucks to lose a game like that because you know we want to play for something you know we’ve been dying to play for something and you know this would have been sort of a early sign of us progressing and being be being a team to be reckoned with even though I still think we are I just don’t know if um you know we’re the top two teams in the East right now right right yeah very true um shout out to Darlene Bryant in the chat let’s go Darlene appreciate you glad to see you here also I see Annie K is in the building let’s go Annie appreciate you um thank you guys for tuning in and and showing love to the show as always Nick P is in the building what up Nick P good to see you um so we go from that game um into a game that we’re facing a team that’s always technically given the Knicks problem because of matchup and size in the past but the Knicks are built a little differently we got a little bit more size on the team and then we go into facing Orlando knowing that Orlando doesn’t have Paulo benero still and they don’t have uh you know their second Dynamic scorer in fron Vagner right and so I just want to say and this is no knock on him we know what he did in this game we’ll talk about it he’s incredible offensively and he’s fantastic on the tips he is a fantastic rebounder but this is how you know he’s not good on defense because we play the Orlando Magic with no Paulo banero no France vagna and then Mo vagna comes off the bench averaging 13 points a game and he puts up 32 on us like what are we doing here our defense for whatever reason we’ve got some real issues here at at the center position shout out to him once again guys I I love I love what cat has been doing but it’s terrible man it’s tough it’s tough just saying anyway um Nicks played the Orlando Magic and we were able to beat them 100 to 91 so shout out to them for getting it done uh we definitely needed the victory no by any means necessary this was definitely a Malcolm X game um and so they got it done which is good to see uh but I don’t know I mean I just I wasn’t happy with that because to me it it’s I don’t look at the little I’m not looking at sometimes I’m not looking at the singular game I’m looking at the bigger picture like you let freaking Mo vagna put 32 Up On You Off the Bench he wasn’t even starting off the PCH I don’t know anyway Steph what what what you think about the Orlando game um you listen we blew them out the last time you knew they were going to come with a lot of energy despite the fact that they were down too right they their NBA players they have a lot of Pride so I knew they were gonna come um ready to play they’re not g to just you know um lay down they were very physical with the Nicks particularly in the first half um I thought the officials could have did a better job regulating that but they let him play um and I thought the Knicks in the third quarter fourth quarter kind of matched their you know matched there and maybe even in the second quarter began to match their physicality you know sometimes when a player is going off you know as a coach you could dial some things up but sometimes you just look at the bigger picture like all right I mean he’s scoring but you know we still up eight like this is not going to beat us you know what I mean so I’m not going to throw double teams I’m not going to just I’m not going to you know overreact to it just let him have what he’s have we still in a good spot looks like we’re gonna win the game leave it you know where it is wasn’t a great defensive game for cat last game but I think overall though his defense has been better I think we we focus a lot on rim protection he’s not a rim protector he’s never going to be but pick and roll defense post defense help defense rebounding there’s different aspects to um to defense as well and I think from the first I don’t know five 10 games whatever it is it has definitely been better for the ey test I gotta keep saying that because Sims to the it test wasn’t great for me but the advanced stats said something totally different so that’s what got me now making a distinction I’m not sure what the stats for Carl Anthony towns in these other areas but I like the fact that they’re not just using him and drop on these pick and rolls sometimes he’s blitzing and double teaming um I do think sometimes he tries to get it gotta be he doesn’t want to get in the foul TR because in the beginning of the season when they were driving he was just moving back out of bounds I couldn’t understand like where you going you need to step up not take two or three steps backwards I I’m not sure what he was doing at the time um he’s getting better I’m not sure what we can expect of him ni the the Knicks knew who he was when they brought him in right no and I agree I I I definitely don’t think I don’t expect him to be a world beater on defense or do anything other than what we’ve kind of already seen I actually you know it’s the tradeoff that I’m okay with I’d rather him if it if it takes for him to not play a aggressively on defense against certain on certain plays just to stay out there on the court I’d much rather have that cuz offensively he’s a weapon and I I right now the way the Knicks have been playing it seems like they they would have a tough time winning without him in my opinion I know I think we can win with Brunson but I just think that the Knicks aren’t playing at that level right at this moment they can be there they just haven’t showed it right now in my opinion John what’s your thoughts on the Orlando game and and the Knicks currently how they looked defensively offensively yeah I mean for I mean I don’t know I didn’t really have any sort of expectations outside of winning the game against Orlando seeing that they were sort of without two of their main scorers um did I did I think did I believe that the Orlando Magics will give us a challenge yeah I you know I think they’re a formidable team they show they’ve shown it so far this year they’re like 14 and8 before they played us so they they had a winning round without benero so you know they have a good team there they’re young um and they’re also learning right and so um and again I’m I’m not really speaking to sort of the the matchup because um the magic don’t necessarily play one-on-one basketball right like not that’s not what this team is predicated on right now without Panero they share the ball uh so when Panero comes in they’re more of a one onone sort of isolate the that player one-on-one um so I I expected the game to be gritty because that’s what they shown uh before um Jaylen Suggs is a greedy guard goes after it um lend Carter went after it you know there it was a lot of AG aggressive play early on and I don’t think that Knicks uh matched that in the first quarter and to what you said Steph it was the second quarter where they started to match that intensity um right and um and then they took the lead and then from that point on I felt like they had the game in hand um my concern more about the Knicks is their inconsistent play right from quarter to quarter they really haven’t been able to put it together for more than you know a quarter quarter and a half um we I mean there’s been games there was a game early on where we thought like he they turned the corner when they went up I forget what game it was we won like 30 and everybody was like oh we turned the corner we’re ready to go right like it’s it’s that consistency that we’ve been lacking this entire season outside of that one or two games that we’ve seen them play really really good basketball but the it’s not about chemistry either because I think they share the ball what I what I also believe is that they just don’t knock down the shots when they’re sharing the ball in a consistent basis it’s weird it’s like you know you get the right shot the ball isn’t dropping and then on the defensive side they start to lack it sort of lackluster in the way they um sort of uh call out the picks or they you know switch you know between each other who’s going to take on what player or the rotation isn’t really succinct you know and I think that’s the biggest takeaway for me right now on the defensive side more than offense um because offensively if you’re making the right pass nine times of the 10 you’re going to start knocking down the shot and I think we have a good enough team to see that happen it’s really the defensive side of the ball we haven’t had the same sort of um um consistency on the defense with especially specifically on the rotation you know backman diving to the basket or or a a back cut is always you know for whatever reason they find them to be open and it’s like no one’s talking uh and those sort of lead into US sort of bumbling on the offensive end or you know us not maintaining a lead you know um or giving away a lead um and and so um you know that’s what I SE a lot of and then moments in time this year within those 25 games we’ve gone down early and then we’ve tried to work so hard to get back into games and it’s like you you you absorb so much energy trying to get back into the game is makes it very difficult for you to be in um in a good place in the fourth quarter to actually you know take on you know a win um so those are the certain key key things that they have to clean up I think Tom Tibido is working on that with everybody um people are complaining about the rotation and him only going eight I don’t have a problem with that he knows who he has on the court they’re expected to play they’re expected to win um can he give a few breathers maybe maybe we don’t have to have the top five you know minute uh players with you know the highest ministers possible um but I don’t ever see him switch out from the guys he’s playing right I don’t see him going nine if he does go nine he may rely more heavily on like a deuce or Cam you know to take on more minutes from maau I think that’s probably G to be his play uh moving forward to sort of limit how many minutes maau is playing and I wouldn’t mind that because I think Duce and Camp have proven that they they they’re they’re they’re like right there they’re ready for the task um and they’ve played well as a unit so um but that’s what I’ll say as far as what I’m seeing it’s the inconsistent inconsistency that’s that’s gotten me sort of like oh my God what we got here you know like not really you know like I don’t see them as a top you know top top in the East you know and that’s what I want to see I want to see top team in the East you know um and right now they’re really just where they’re at is where is what theyve shown is where four or five in the East it’s what the that kind of been their play this year right and um uh I think that uh one of the things there’s a couple things that have been bothering me lately that I haven’t really talked about because I’ve never really felt this way before but I mean as I’m watching the Nick’s play like there’s certain things that I’m like why is this happening now I’m wondering is it because see I’m with you too and you know I I have the old school 90s mentality uh how you know throwback these guys used to just play there was no I’m tired or you none of that you just went out there and played but that being said I’m a little concerned that maybe the minutes and even uh even if it’s not so much as like uh somebody plays 38 or 39 minutes in a game more of the whole thing that bothers people mostly is the consecutive minutes like playing nine 10 minutes in a quarter it’s a lot um what’s concerning me a little bit is I do feel like that OG anobi is a little tired and the reason why I say that is because I feel like he and I’m not taking anything away from any other Nick player on the court I just feel like OG Works harder than everybody on both ends like he does he looks he makes it look easy when he’s on offense but he’s still exerting a lot of energy he’s getting to spots quickly he’s taking less dribbles he’s trying to you know he’s he’s just quick with it but then on the defensive side he’s everywhere he’s getting steals he’s blocking shots like and then he’s trying to rebound on the weak side when he can uh and then also most likely guarding the the the best offensive player on the other side that’s a lot and I just noticed that in the past four games five games maybe I think four games his shot has been struggling of course he may not have the Rhythm but I also feel like he’s been exuding a lot of energy so I kind of feel like he’s a little tired the other thing that I’ve noticed is uh going back to the Detroit game both Jaylen Brunson and Josh Hart I mean you could pick apart both of them but defensively they were they had such a lack of focus right and I feel like Jaylen has tried to come back from that because he was letting a lot of stuff go and he’s been playing a little better but even watching the Orlando game there was a couple plays where I’m like Josh what do we do I was screaming at my TV like Josh just let this dude he gave him like four or five feet like what are you doing like that’s bothering me even to the point of Jaylen Brunson missing free throws I’m like because everybody knows when you miss a free throw and you’re a good free throw shooter that comes down to focus you know what I mean because you can knock these down you practice you you are one of you shoot 80% or more I’m just wondering what’s going on with with the mentality of of of some of these am I reaching Steph am I am I overthinking it I don’t I don’t think so I think with the throw shooting it can be fatigued but sometime they missing them in the first quarter so to me that that that’s just a lack of [Music] focus the Knicks so I go back and forth with this too you know should Tibido play some of okay so you you notice Brunson minutes aren’t that high because he has an adequate backup Town’s minutes aren’t you know super high because he has an adequate backup so it’s Mel Josh Hart and um OG and anobi who really don’t have an adequate backup so there is a significant drop off when those guys are off the court if you’re going to go to the rookies right do you just live with the results do you bring a daddy a in to spell one of those guys for a few minutes just to try to get them to the fourth quarter a little fresher but then who you can’t use them to spell all three of them like so who who are you you know who are you who are you spelling I just think that the Knicks right now are just don’t have the bench they’re not a weld old machine either um so a a a drop off you know from the bench players you’re going to have to put them back in quickly anyway but I’m cool I’m I’m cool with trying it um I do think it’s impacting their performance um in the Atlanta game I think we got within six or seven with like five minutes left and you could look at the energy of them I thought they had there was no way they were gonna mount a comeback none so is that mental P fatigue is that physical fatigue it’s probably a bit of both I don’t think the minutes are going to go down though until you know shamet played tonight in the g-league from what I understand so he may be on his yeah on his way back um you [Music] know what are they going to do I know they can’t sign TJ Warren right now because of money concerns and not W to go over the the the second apron But as time goes on I think it it would be a pro-rated salary so they may be able to bring him on later on in the season are they going to execute any trades I’m not sure what we have you know to trade I’m not sure if they did want to trade Mitchell Robinson I’m not sure what his value um would be so until that time I think Tom Tibido feels comfortable going eight and feeling like even though those guy you know remember the back in the day for those old old enough to remember the video games with the energy bar and so it’s like the longer you go your energy is but you don’t really want to stop through refuel so I think it’s one of you know one of those things like these guys are not going to have the energy in the fourth quarter but do I take the chance right now to bring in somebody else like you know what if that goes wrong so I don’t think it’s G to change much until shamid or Mitch gets back I think he’s going eight yeah that’s a lot I hear you with right yeah and like I said I understand we you know we all know we’re dealing with Tom Tibido we’re dealing with Tom Tibido he’s he’s a creature of his you know he’s not changing but I just think like he is it’s just it’s happening so early right it’s so early in the season and it’s not stopping like I didn’t have a problem with it when I thought okay he’s doing this to give them an opportunity to play together to get some chemistry to jail and they’re still they still need time to do that but I’m just I’m really concerned that there’s no end in sight here like he’s continuing to do this and by the time the Knicks get to the end of the season like I hopefully we’re not injured but these dudes are going to be exhausted and that’s when you’re supposed to reach back I mean of course you’re supposed to reach back dig deep and and you know it’s now it’s all in whatever happens you gotta just will yourself but if if you’ve been playing a long season playing multiple minutes and we’re you know going into the playoffs or hopefully at a at a good Pace that’s just a lot to ask I just think that that puts your team in a little bit of a a bad spot I’m not saying it can’t happen but I just I don’t I would wish we could do things a little better and I think we have a couple players that have shown a little something we just don’t have enough of it and we don’t have enough versatility on the bench because campaign and Deuce are basically you know they’re not the same person but they’re playing the same area we don’t have enough versatility on our bench our bench is really I mean they’re clowning our bench on freaking social media now because we don’t have anybody and compared to these other teams it’s it’s kind of crazy I don’t know man John is it time for pacome D I mean the key the the key really comes down to trust right I mean everyone knows that tibs doesn’t go outside of his trust right and so if he doesn’t see a reason to bring in a d he isn’t going to play him I mean you know um I’m not really sure how much time they get to see each other in practice um but I mean that pretty much will tell us whether he believes in the kids game or not I mean he early on he got some minutes right when Sims was out and it’s almost by you know um by default right he needed to play some guys um but now we’re sort of in the middle middle part of the season right right before the break you know February we have trade deadline so you’re like it’s coming up on us fast by the time we know it we’re everyone’s talking trade talk so um it’s just a matter of you know I mean right now when you look at the standings we’re in third place right we beat we beat ourl we’re in third right and so with that said how do you say that it’s a concern it can be to those who believe that this caus injury you know or you know um you know and I think that’s the biggest thing that comes out of this is like oh you know the heavy minutes is going to cause injury I myself don’t believe in that I don’t I don’t personally believe that you know minutes are going to cause injuries I think there are ways in which players can can recuperate and as I said it before in other shows on that you know players didn’t see in the past now they’re not now players themselves are not built like players in the of the past either so you know um I just think that I just think that injuries are going to play a part in the game any way you see it you know France Vagner has an injury he’s out for a month it’s not because he played 40 minutes a game or 30 I mean he’s probably playing like 33 minutes a game or 32 minutes a game so he’s not even getting the wear and tear but he’s gotten an injury right and so the argument and the science isn’t there you get what I’m saying so for those who say that there’s that’s that’s a there truth to that that’s far beyond truth right because there’s no science that that speaks of it um Can can Tom can Tibido do something better to alleviate players being gassed in the fourth quarter is the key right can he give minutes to other players I I mean me for definitely I’ll be playing cam more minutes and do more minutes and trying to spell other guys and sort of mixing and matching so I’ll take Macau s him for five more minutes than I would normally and play you know de and cam with heart at the three and precious at the four like switch it up a little bit right right um that those are ways in which I would I would prefer tibs to do it um versus trying to go deeper in the bench because to be honest if I don’t trust the guys on the bench specifically on the defensive side I’m not going to want them to be in the game especially in crucial moments of the game so there’s an argument be said both ways I I wouldn’t mind dier playing I think I personally think the kid got the skills to play I think he’s he’s got the length he’s got he’s got some athleticism and we’ve seen him shoot shoot it well from the perimeter so to me he has all the intangibles I just I’m not there during practice I’m not there so I couldn’t judge I can’t judge what I don’t see and that’s where I’m at with it I mean if I can add um something I’m more concerned about them being fresh in the fourth quarter than I am about in overuse injury recovery matters you know this is not in the 90s where they were playing 40 minutes a game and then practicing for two hours the next day you know these are guys that’s playing 36 37 38 minutes and then the next day that it’s it’s they’re not playing again until the next game you know they’re doing you know they’re doing walkthroughs you know what I mean and so I think they have their recovery dialed in in in terms of what they want so you’re playing 38 minutes three you know three um nights a week and you’re not practicing you know and hopefully you have your nutrition dialed in you have your sleep dialed in um in in your recovery to me the most important thing is not even how much minutes they’re playing is what is their recovery like you know that’s important but yeah I’m more concerned about the consecutive minutes and just being gassed in the fourth quarter than I am about minutes cumulating over the course um of a season right now I mean listen uh that’s that’s that’s a fair point and and I’m not even on the side of I know I think that a lot of fans are really Shell Shocked because of how crazy last year was to feel so good about the team and to just get hit with the whammy injury after injury after injury now that’s all we can think about but knock on wood fortunately it’s gonna happen no it’s gonna happen but you just don’t it I would say the only time I would think that you know honestly I would say that this has become a problem is if what happened last year happens again if OG goes down Brunson goes down Hart goes down and like all these guys go down at the same like similar time and they’re out for a while while then I’m like oh well that’s not good that’s a problem you know what I mean because guys are going to get hurt but usually generally in the NBA season guys go down here you know there might be two that go down at the same time but they go down at different moments but we had a moment where we had like Five Guys hurt at the same time which we don’t know how it happened same thing happened in me look at Memphis Memphis they were depleted last year right like Pro probably every starter and their sixth and seventh men were out injured like you can’t call it and it’s not based on minutes so everybody on chat who believes in minutes is the science is not there so all the stats and all that you talk about it’s it’s not true like you know you gota you got to quit while you’re ahead man it’s not true this just what it is it’s the game the game has always been played the same way it hasn’t changed in in years I think what you’re seeing more now is that teams are going deeper in their bench because they got the talent and and and coaching the coaching that they have believe in the players that they have in order to play them I’m not saying that coach is right what I’m saying is that it’s just the brand of basketball that we play here in New York you know what I mean so right you can blame it on tibs or you want it could be you know him and stuck in his old ways or it may be something he’s seeing that we’re not seeing we can’t call it so all right and and to you know just to reiterate so everybody out there knows once again my feeling I do have an issue with the minutes but my feeling is not about health I said it before this Nick team has turned into a jump shooting team and I feel like to be a jump shooting team you got to have healthy fresh legs not all the I mean you’re gonna get tired but your legs got to be pretty good and if these guys are gassed and like that’s got to affect your shot you’re gonna be hitting the front rim and stuff like that that shows tired legs I just think that we what we’ve noticed and I this is where I point to uh you know playing too many minutes the Knicks are incons they have issues defensively maybe they don’t have all the proper Personnel but there’s definitely a level of inconsistency there but then something that we’re actually good at when we when we execute we’re you know sometimes you know top two top three in the league and how good we are offensively but yet we can’t do it consistency I mean consistently to me that points to you know maybe playing the uh the advanced amount of minutes and the consecutive minutes is affecting our ability to be as efficient as we could be if have we got little spurts of rest here and there so I’m more concerned about how we actually execute because we’re playing too much not about the injury stuff so just wanted to put that out there for those who may not know where I feel about it that’s that’s what I’m concerned about that’s fair so my question oh go ahead go ahead go ahead Steph the only thing I would add is defensive chemistry is a is a thing also um you know Minnesota was number one in defense they traded cat they’re back to four but at one point they were 12 early in the season that wasn’t because they lost a Defensive Juggernaut it just took time for the defense to kind of re coales so to speak around um you know with the with the new players I think some of it is is fatigue you know to your point but I the inconsistency but I think some of it is also it’s just going to take time for this team to gel defensively particularly you got cat amb Bronson that’s you know that’s you know that that’s not easy you know that’s not easy and Mel was having a hard time to start the season seems to be coming around now both offensively um and defensively but I do agree with you that’s where I’m think is there any way you can buy minutes you know just buy minutes for those guys they can get to that fourth quarter and be a bit more fresh right right um I wanted to ask you guys a question but before I ask you I just wanted to say one quick thing to everybody out there in nickland can we please please try to focus on what is an actual issue in reference to this team could we stop living in the past and living the now now the reason why I’m saying that is because there’s a lot of people that already early in the season have they just it’s it’s running in their minds maau is a bust we gave up five picks for him maau has played much better in the last six games like he’s definitely turned turned it around offensively and he’s been a lot more effective defensively I don’t know his defensive numbers but you can see it on the court you can tell that there’s a shift in how he’s playing defense is he the the type of Defender that you want him to be yet maybe no maybe maybe he’s not but he’s definitely playing better defensively so can we calm down and give maau like I’m not blaming whatever’s going on with this Nick team it’s a collective thing but I think maau has started to do his part so can we give maau some a break I’m just saying guys um but so my question oh go ahead go John no I was just saying real quick I think in general everybody need everyone wants to find a Fall Guy for their team not doing well and that’s just general that’s always been the case you know even in teams of the past we’ve always try to figure out what is the one piece that’s missing or what is the you know it’s generally the reality is is a collective right it’s the coaching and the players right everyone has to buy into you know a culture and a system and once you buy into that culture and that system that’s when you start becoming you know uh per perennial you you know playoff team you know what I mean a team that’s going to constantly be in the in the mix you know um but again it’s it’s neither here nor there because we’re right now in third place in the East are we making the playoffs for a third fourth consecutive team uh year absolutely if we stay healthy 100% we’ll make we’ll be in the playoffs again so and with six games over 500 um I didn’t even think I I thought the Knicks would struggle more over the first 20 20 games or so quite honestly we haven’t hit our ceiling neither offensively or defensively um and if you can win while you’re learning win while you’re making mistakes win while you’re um not where you you need to be I think that’s a plus for the knck six games over 500 and we we’re not even close to who we’re going to be in my opinion in March that’s so true yeah that’s a very good point and and you know I think I know it’s easy for me to say this but I’m just looking I’m a I’m you know sometimes I’m a big picture guy and I’m just saying that we gotta stop trying to quantify or qualify someone’s worth by what it took to get that person here right we were able and you know shout out to the other uh content creators who have kind of referenced this stuff too we were able to get Carl Anthony towns for you know Dante Divan chenzo Julius Ren not that that you know Julius Rand is an allar Dante played incredibly with the Knicks last year but when you look at their value what they’ve been giv to Minnesota compared to what cat has been giving us obviously Minnesota thinks like we got over like you know what I mean and and and had this been a couple years ago you would have had to give up so much more to bring cat here we got cat at a good time we took advantage and and got re we’re getting rewarded for it but of course the defensive side there’s there’s a trade-off there but it you know in the I think it it’s going to work out but I think we just got to stop looking at things from these weird glasses we gave up five first round picks from Macau Bridges okay everybody in their right mind knew that the Brooklyn Nets were going to force the Knicks to overpay for for for maau to bring him here and we did we got him here and now he’s here and we still looking at it like don’t we we do this with every player we got we did it with Jaylen Brunson when he got hit oh who’s this Jaylen Brunson we gave him 104 106 million he’s not worth that now you’re like oh we got him on a bargain he’s leaving money on the table for us look how good he is it’s the same thing with Josh Hart we traded cam reddish and we and traded a first- round pick to get Josh Hart everybody was flipping they were going crazy Josh Hart is definitely outplayed what we gave up for him what is Cam reddish doing now where is Cam reddish I don’t even know no I know where he is but I’m just joking you get my point RJ bar right because we because precious had no game right precious was not a viable option right offensive game no def like he was a nobody plus not to mention what we’ve did in in the draft right how many players did we draft this year three or four was it four four was was it four so so needless to say we got four in the draft pick but we gave away five like what did we give away really right one right maybe right right like and you can’t constitute the where they’re picked right like the picks themselves doesn’t really matter it’s the player themselves it’s who you bring here is what counts yeah but and and and shout out to East blue Drew I hear you he says Ron this team is supposed to beat Boston Contender expectations are supposed to be high absolutely yes but with regards to everything nothing happens overnight I I I Ed example right now currently of the Phoenix Suns uh let me see what they’re at right now just real quick but look Ron we could easily say look at Boston three years ago right right right right right that’s simple as saying that Boston was not Boston that we see last year three years ago or four years ago because it needed time to gel and the same thing when you look at the Cavs the Cavs are jelling now because they have consistency and they have the same players that they had for the last two three years and that’s 100% that’s 100% fact what John is saying guys and and even like when I was saying with Phoenix Phoenix looked like I mean I people were clowning them because that they big three last year and could they stay healthy and then it looked bad when they were healthy and they could never be all together on the on the same court this year to start off the season they were all together and they were running through the league they’re of course they’re hurt again but you can already see that they they they’ve got a chemistry together when they’re together you actually it yields good results but you got to give it time and I think the same thing’s going to happen with the Knicks by the time I’m I’m throwing something out there by the time we get to the 50 game mark this Nicks team is going to be a well-oiled machine and they’re gonna be playing really good basketball in my opinion uh marck my words put it down Ron said it by the 50 game Mark the Nicks is gonna be playing really good basketball so there there’s there a fair point we’re comparing a 25 game Nicks to a three-year calf team or or threee Boston team right right right that’s that’s what listen and I’ve been saying it I I I hate to say it but I’ve been saying it because I realize it them Cleveland Cavaliers is a good team I can’t you can’t knock him everything the Knicks have been offensively joh I couldn’t even believe when I first saw it a couple weeks ago everything that Nicks has been doing offensively with these great numbers we were still behind the Cavs it’s like how are they shooting as good as we’re shooting like I’m like this is crazy but that’s what’s going on so we got to respect them I feel like the Cavs I said this on Saturday I think the Cavs are playing really good right now really good basketball I feel like Boston is just a really good team I think they’re just better than everybody else and we’re trying to get um our guys to that level of play and I think we might be able to get there but it’s GNA take some time so um and oh last thing I want to say about this before I ask this question is the maau bridges Thing Once Again guys it’s only been six games from the month of December but maau Bridges is shooting and we know how bad he’s been shooting and tinkering with his shot and everything but in six games he’s shooting 42% from three and he’s shooting 56% from the field that’s an improvement that’s a really good Improvement guys that’s great so give this guy a a shot man let’s let’s let’s work with him he’s the narrative and it’s the narrative that people can’t get away from it’s the Tinker ring with his shot I think that Tinker ring is over let’s just call it what it is he ain’t tinkering no more he got his shot where he needs it to be and he’s shooting lights out right now and he’s playing the way we expected him to play to start the season and all of that is just you know it’s rhetoric it’s rhetoric for Twitter it’s rhetoric just to just to you know to find something to talk about like you know that’s the type of fanfare we have and we you know it’s unfortunate because you know the team themselves need the the fans to be on their side and you know everyone wants to find a scapegoat for us not winning every game of the season now I say it to myself like I said I expect to win more than we did last year I expect this to be in the finals for me it’s exactly what Brunson said to start the season it’s finals are bust so I’m going with that if that’s what he stated then I’m going with that and I’m riding with my with the captain you know what I mean so it is what it is yeah and and just because we got players that are familiar with other players on our team it’s not the same with with you know being here and playing with them night in and night out still it’s still that you haven’t developed that chemistry it does take time and we know that in any sport so whatever okay my question to you guys one of my big questions before we get out of here is we know what we’ve seen so far from this Nick team they are 16 and 10 six games over 500 so it’s not like they’re horrible they’re right on Pace they actually are uh playing better at this point this year than we were last year right but what is it that the Knicks can do to uh win games consistently is there anything you guys think that we can do better that they can change that they can focus on right now with the current Personnel that would help us play better and be a little more consistent what what do you think Steph probably the focus probably the focus um I don’t like the way the Knicks start games some of the games they start like they’re surprised like they surprised that the energy of the other team you know um to me the Knicks sure they they have to they have to optimize offensively they have to optimize defensively but they have to optimize mentally like there’s a certain approach to the game that I’m not seeing with these uneven starts um and then also mentally as far as the EB and flow of a game sometime a team is going to go on a run okay Ben don’t break you need to be able to push back and go on your own run I don’t see that a lot again I’m not sure how much of this is toughness and mentality and how much of this is mental or physical fatigue but the Knicks other than the Charlotte game haven’t been a team that kind of grinds out wins just gotta get just get grimy and just grind it out so that’s what I think the Knicks can do right now just kind of optimize the mental aspect of the game in terms of their starts um and in terms of when they taking a punch and and and the ability to bounce back from it right right um uh let before I get over to John just want to say thank you uh to Rick James give it to me baby uh shout out to you uh for subscribing to to the show appreciate you thank you for being here and I see your comment you said we wish they would play a little faster yeah yeah I mean you know that’s always been a thing for the Nicks Nicks teams over the years that just you know that’s a tough one I mean they try here and there in spurts but it’s it’s tough John what’s your thoughts on on is there anything you think that this Nick team can do right now to to play a little better and more consistent yeah I think we we spoke about it a little earlier and queen you you you spoke to it it’s about keeping your guys fresh in the fourth to for the fourth quarter I think that’s the biggest key and that’s the biggest adjustment that tibs is going to have to make whether it be going into the bench for a little bit more help or whether it be mixing and matching his players or his eight in the rotation to to to cover some of those minutes for guys so that they’re fresh in the fourth quarter the reality is is that a lot of what we’re seeing is fatigue in the fourth quarter and guys aren’t able to push through that fatigue um and then when you are fatigued like you stated earlier on your shot is flat and um you know the mental aspect of the game becomes that that much more difficult because now you know you start relying on the physical ability versus you understanding you know where you need to be on the court so um those are the key for me and I think once we once once tibs is able to solidify his eight-man roster and break down minutes spelled for guys to be you know and again it has a lot to do with people being in in foul trouble too so that’s something to be said so you know um with that if he can make adjustments that way I think we’ll be in good shape um especially when we play atletic athletic teams like the Hawks um the those are difficult matchups the pace is the Hogs seems like that yeah for sure right right yeah and and that’s that’s also the other thing too is it’s we’ve calmed down uh but there was a point where especially maybe about 10 games ago or so around there it was a stretch where the Knicks had a lot of unforced Errors I mean we’ve still had moments where we’re we’re high in turnovers it’s like it’s it’s it’s weird because we really really solid at at doing good things with the basketball not turning it over too much who knows I as I said before with with this Nick team I feel like even though it’s only two new players in the starting lineup I just feel like it’s a different team it just we play different you know with the five out stuff and and it’s just it’s our our style is a little different and we just don’t know exactly what that is yet um um till they continue to kind of show it um and show what they’re really good at consistently it’s that’s the cons that that goes back to that consistent work consistency is key for us knowing what this team is for them knowing who they are because you know every night we’re like man they put up 140 points look at that offense it’s incredible maybe this is we’re offensive Juggernaut but we don’t sustain it so are we you know we can but you know when it comes down to it when if we’re gonna if we’re gonna look at what this Nick team is on a night in Night Out bases Are we more of a offensive Juggernaut or are we more of the other team that struggles off defensively because we’re always shooting threes and can’t really find ways to get easy baskets when our three-point shot is not going I don’t know it’s it’s just it’s like really up in the air right now but hopefully we find out in these next um 25 or so games and by by the Midway point we’ll know what we’re dealing with uh I just want to say shout out to everybody uh in the chat who’s joined Fritz Al senders in the building what up Fritz uh thank you for for being here Mega NYK is here salute uh shout out to uh there was uh I just lost his name Ron Mills salute to you Ron Mills appreciate you for being here and ik BM Dre is in the building what up um I have one final question and we can get out of here and S goodbyes H it’s kind of a two-parter but it’s real quick do you feel like we can still at some point once again it’s not like we’re bad we’re good can we take things to the next level and and get back into that this Nick team in the championship Contender this year um you know I I or is it let’s not worry about it let’s just play our best basketball and see what comes of it uh but what’s your thoughts Steph I I think the Knicks already are I think I did a comparison of the Knicks defensive metrics and offensive metrics against the three other teams in the Eastern Conference Boston Cleveland Orlando and the number one team in the Western Conference OKC and the Knicks are right there with the rest of them so if you’re considering the others to be Championship contenders then you have to consider the Nicks to be Championship contenders as well listen the Knicks have a champ ion contenders are built and I think that’s what’s not happening we’re not giving the Knicks Grace like we expect the Knicks to just you know if we was in a seven game series right now we should be able to beat Boston today if you can’t beat Boston right now in the seven game series and you’re not a championship Contender it’s built over time we’ve been calling the Philadelphia 76 as Championship contenders based on what these past few years based on based on their roster based on their record the Knicks finish second last year the Knicks are third this year so we given Philly that Grace to call them Championship contenders when they clearly had um holes and never went beyond the second round but they were Championship contenders but the Knicks this new team that’s been put together because they’re not hitting a particular metric oh we can’t consider them Championship contenders right it starts with the roster starts with the roster and then they got to go through the wars and they got to build themselves up and they have to get better over time that’s what Boston did they were considered Championship contenders years before they won a a championship it’s the same thing that happened with Milwaukee it’s the same thing that happened with Philly but when it comes to the Knicks oh no we gotta wait we gotta wait for I don’t know the team to jail and for no the Knicks are contenders right now if Orlando is a contender and Philly is a contender and Cleveland is a contender the Knicks are as well they’re just not playing they’re not at their ceiling yet they’re not at ceiling yet you know in March is going to be a different story yeah what’s your thoughts John yeah I mean I think they’re contenders I just don’t you know right now they’re not playing up to what you know their expectations were to start the season um for a lot of folks um but again I agree exactly with what Steph is saying it’s about you know building it over time and you know we’ll see what we got in you know in March and in April you know because that’s that’s really the key it’s it’s how they’re playing at that moment you know um and and for me I think we’re going to get better over time um I just gotta really get used to uh cat playing so far in the perimeter right like I just gotta get used to his play so it’s sort of different from what I’m used to seeing in bigs um but again it’s his style of play and it’s beneficial to him um and and he’s always GNA have the um he’s always gonna have the the um what what’s what’s it called like the he’s he’s going to outplay his match up you know just because he could he you know he could get out there and shoot the three and spread the court um it’s just a different way of playing you know what I mean um and it’s I still find it uncomfortable to watch just just me that’s my own personal pep peeve but that’s you know neither here nor there um but I think in time they’re going to get it together and then in time I think we’ll see what we do with the completion of our roster um after trade deadline if that anything happens because then depending on what happens could shift the shift momentum either the opposite way or the right way right like it you never know um one wrong move can can shift the Paradigm completely 360 degrees right so we want to make sure that whatever we do as an N organization that they do it in in in the way that they’re they’re looking to progress and not you know go the opposite direction um we do know what we have and you you know cat and then Brunson we have leadership we have uh you know potentially two All Stars on our team um and then we got some some really strong Defenders and Hart and then OG and and maau bridges um we just got to put it all together so I I think we’re going to be there I think we’re going to be in the mix um and like I said I’m I’m riding with with brunon so he says you know it’s it’s basically championship of bus for him so for me let’s get there and then could talk about winning one yeah yeah I mean you know it’s just we we just got to it it I know it’s it’s not easy for for people to to do but we just have to give you know like Steph said and and and and John is saying you know we got to be patient gota show some Grace I mean every in every aspect of this this team this Nick team this year we got to give these guys a break just like when cat first came here and you know guys I know I was was upset about the trade I wasn’t ready for it but then the next day I said we got to show cat some Grace cat has been fantastic that’s the only reason why nobody’s talking about cat because he’s been fantastic offensively defensively it’s another thing but same thing with Macau show him some Grace and the team overall we got to show them some Grace as well it’s easier said than done but you know time is going to reveal itself just like every year when we question Leon Rose and his moves by the end of the year we’re like man Leon Rose is genius like just got to give it all some time um and go from there shout out to uh kesan in the building appreciate you kesan uh hope you’re doing well uh good good to see you as always um also I coach Bell or coach Bill I don’t know how you say it because I know it’s b l e but shout out to you thank you for being here and rocking with us and we got a super chat from uh uh our friend of the show Mr Parish Dugger shout out to you Parish thank you for the generous Super Chat he says play bigger stronger and 10 Deep and we dominate on the boards and defense five out oh is uh usess when just exchanging Hoops we have Superior one-on-one talents okay all right I see where you’re going with it parish and I know Parish has been has been talking about the Knicks playing bigger rather than going smaller I think at one point Paris even suggested that the Knicks play uh [Music] um was cat precious cat precious and Sims Sims at the same time right I mean you know who knows I don’t know it’s different I mean it it definitely something I would say I would try uh if if you’re still looking to find something off the bench and you’re not getting anything maybe at least what you’re lacking offensively um from most of the bench players you can maybe you know circumvent that by trying some lock down defense and just Gathering all rebounds that happen I don’t know maybe I mean the Knicks have a lot of time to Tinker with different lineups and see what works for them Tom Tibido is definitely going to mess around when he feels the need to he just hasn’t really felt the need to experiment too much right now um think he’s just he’s trying to find his own level of consistency with these guys as well uh shout out to Nick Yak in the building shout out to JT Ric appreciate you guys um yeah man but um I think that’s it guys I think that’s our show uh before we get out of here just want to uh you know once again thank the queen Steph for being here and rocking with us this has been great it’s a pleasure I could talk I mean I know I’m not the only
