with Cincinnati traveling to Dayton the Bearcats at 8 and one on the season are the three and a half Point Road favorite the total is 137 Matty Cox let’s go right back to you from some initial thoughts here on Cincinnati and the Dayton Flyers on a Friday night before Christmas it’s a huge game for Cincinnati right I think in terms of what each team has done in the noncon today Dayton has a lot of beef on their resume right they don’t not saying they don’t need this game but but they feel better about where they are I know A10 is going to be a tough uh a tough League where they don’t have a lot of margin for err but Cincinnati this is a to me a prime spot bet if you like the Bearcats who have been good but frankly not as good as the analytics had them priced to start the year they’ve kind of kept their rating um you know in the upper the High Teens of Kemp pom and some of these metrics because they’ve really beating bad teams right one of these teams that really pummels mid Majors low Majors lost at Villanova and then they squeaked by Xavier at home like I just don’t have the lman fuzzies with this cincin they have not really proven that they’re worthy of laying four points against dayen so far uh you know especially o Xavier just played well at Yukon but you know Zab was actually playing that well a week ago when they when they squared off at home so Cincy I think you’re betting more on the preseason prior rating and the spot dating you’re betting on what you’ve actually seen to date so far um kind of conflicting forces there TJ again a pass a slightly into Dayton I see some money coming in right now actually on Dayton bringing it down to two or sorry three and two and a half at some places so if you like ciny maybe keep waiting you might get a minus two it shows all right interesting I may have misspoke this game is not at Dayton Dayton I think is going to be considered the home team but this is a home away from home game Jeff for Cincinnati they’re not playing in their on campus Arena they’re playing in the downtown Arena that’s right right by the Cincinnati Reds baseball stadium right on the Ohio River right downtown so three and a half points the Bearcats lay Dayton has got some out-of-conference wins Big Man uh they they got a win over Yukon obviously in Hawaii but they also have a win over Marquette uh they won the other night narrowly over UNLV they won earlier in the year with Northwestern thoughts on Cincinnati Dayton please yeah I I didn’t I didn’t get this number uh I made this a pick I I I don’t see three points difference I mean again what you just stated is one of the most important things here this is not a home game for anybody it’s a neutral sight game uh the University of Cincinnati is up in North Cincinnati uh it’s particularly far away from uh from this Arena both these teams had to get on a bus and go to this game um on the court I don’t I don’t I don’t know how Cincinnati’s better than Dayton that said you know what this game reminds me of Matt and TJ it reminds me of that game the other night between UNCC and Florida a game in which I kind of made a point for UNC and said hold on they played a ton of great teams the other team hadn’t really been tested yet and what did it do it came right down to the number Florida found a way to get a late cover um I get a feeling that’s what this game’s going to be like I think getting three three and a half Four Points I would want to be on Dayton I think they’re the better all-around team as Matt alluded to since he just hasn’t showed me that much yet and one big thing that’s going to be problematic in this game at some point it’s going to come back to bite since Cincinnati free throws 62% as a team that’s 353 that’s 11th worst nationally uh Dayton is a as a quality free throw shooting team so all that points to me to Dayton um but it could be the other night like Florida UNC yeah could be a tight one and again we saw the Bearcats take it on the chin Jeff from Villanova for their lone loss so far this year Atlantic 10 versus Big 12 we got to keep reminding ourselves Cincinnati now in the Big 12 for this game tonight uh so it’s not part of a tournament it’s just a it’s a one-off Friday night game here for West Miller and Cincinnati to play in the downtown Cincinnati Arena they have won back-to-back games over Howard they won the Rivalry game with Xavier last weekend now tonight 8 Eastern time actually 8:30 eastern time in uh in downtown Cincinnati on ESPNU for this one anything else I gotta ask Matt Matt um what would you make this number uh I made it two and a half and again I think it’s it’s partially because I’m sticking to more of my preseason rating with Cincy which largely baks and Dan skillings who missed four games in a row this is going to be his third game back I didn’t think he mattered a ton of this team because of how deep they were but the you know fans and I think the the local beat reporters you know have kind of amp or underscored how much he matters and from what I’ve seen I’m sort of inclined to believe them again I think you get a really good effort from him since he has not had him at full strength so that’s kind of the key differentiator for me in this game U so yeah two and a half though stay away I think again if you’re if you’re back in Cincy you’re really banking a lot on what you thought preseason and the spot but to what you guys both said I don’t know if the spot really plays as well with a non-traditional homec Court environment I think you wanted like a Ruckus packed in Fifth Third Bank Arena environment to lay the number here I’m not going to lay it at like a clai neutral that’s and that’s my whole thing pen pal made this three that said hasla metrics makes it Cincy minus a half essentially half a point pick yeah so I I’m I I lean more with on the when the rubber meets Road let’s say this game was in Oklahoma City okay it was a playing game d tournament Dayton is the better team on paper they just are uh so you got to make that decision as a handicapper but if you’re GNA give me three and a half I would definitely lean that way look out for the fun point guard for Cincinnati Jizzy James is he gonna make something happen in this game tonight as well good comments some some people in the chat saying hey maybe a first half under might be the way to go because it’s not Cincinnati’s typical Arena here depending on what happens or that one tonight I
