what is up everyone I’m Ryan from Fireside Yankees and we are live to discuss not only what happened on hot stove which I would say was a mundane hot stove not in the sense that it wasn’t entertaining you know I love listening to Jack Curry and uh you know the crew talk uh but there wasn’t as much in terms of like Scoops you know we heard a little bit about the first base Market uh there’s a little bit to to get into there specifically Paul gmid because that was the name that was mentioned that not that it has he hasn’t been mentioned on hot stove before but more so that he hasn’t been like pushed by Jack Curry before and now we’re hearing a little bit of smoke there so he’s definitely someone we’re going to talk about before we get into everything there though make sure you guys like comment subscribe turn on the notification Bell and of course make sure you guys check out fire sankes on all of our various social media platforms this is streaming on TW on Twitter this is streaming on YouTube If You’re Here on YouTube again like subscribe comment you’re seeing this on Twitter share it with a friend retweet repost like it uh and uh with that being said let’s get a roll call going in here let’s get a let’s go Yankees get in here let’s get a roll call so so I can understand who’s here uh and then we’ll go into player Pages I’ll share my screen we’ll have that all set up but I appreciate you all taking a chunk of your night to sit around and talk about the Yankees with me we got Greg B Baker saying proar should be a no-brainer no qualifying offer and has experience at first base Perfect Fit let’s go we’ll talk about jerks and profar he will be part of this first base kind of conversation we’ll get into that a little bit later in the live stream we’re going to be going for a good bit tonight we’re going to be going for hopefully closer to two hours that’s my target time that’s what I’m targeting I want this to be a little bit of a longer stream uh because I didn’t stream last night last night was my final line of classes so you know I had a class at 6:20 I decided to take the night off from streaming uh to just kind of enjoy a little bit of time at home kind of bask in class playing over for me for the semester uh but we got Chris Drew gang what’s good Chris I hope you’re doing well man hope you’re doing well appreciate you stopping by uh for another live stream lb trade rumors saying that profar is looking for three-year deal now the exact phrasing was a three-year plus deal and what I wanted to mention about uh you know the yanies uh is that I think they would be more interested in proar than people give them credit for because of the lack of the qualifying offer which is mentioned by Greg uh in that uh profile comment it’s got to be Walker right well Jack Curry mentioned that the international free agent money uh that you lose from signing a player with the qualifying offer plus the draft picks could deter the Yankees or could make them a little more hesitant uh with which I agree with like I think you should like really consider what you’re going to do before you kind of Punt away two more picks think he would lose their four of their first six picks in the 2025 Major League Baseball draft that doesn’t sound like cons anything that’s consequential but it kind of is right how are you supposed to contend without prospects to trade away how are you supposed to contend without prospects to call up and fill on your roster how you supposed to contend without young players right how are you supposed to contend without something that either gives you a trade asset that you could acquire good players with or a way to develop good players you have to have prospects you have to be able to import prospects into your organization consistently and there is something to lose with Walker or Alonzo being signed that goes beyond just you know winning in 2024 whatever it may be um I’m not against signing Christian Walker I really like Christian Walker I think he’s the best fit for the Yankees from an offensive defensive standpoint uh just based on his skill set but I also understand the Yankees aren’t going to be jumping at the bit chomping at the bit uh to give into whatever his demands are right now considering that as Jack Curry mentioned the first based Market has stalled the first base Market has frozen it’s to a complete halt Jeff passon mentioned a similar thing um there is not a lot of activity going on there the Yankees are not going to rush grabbing a first baseman if they don’t have to these players are probably GNA have to give in or at least some of them will have to give in um at some point this is where you end up signing a Blake Snell uh to a two-year deal a Matt Chapman to a two-year deal I’d consider those to be the two best free agent deals handed out last winter Snell was a steal at the contract he got if the Yankees said him instead of Marc strowman maybe doing the World Series I I also said that about Matt Chapman Matt Chapman he’s a steal on a two-year deal or he was a steal on a two-year deal he’s someone who the Yankees might have also won the World Series with if he was playing Third Base you import J Chisum maybe to play left field or second base you know he’s a player that the Yankees would love to have right now considering the hole in their infield so you know there’s a lot of things that you can do uh as you wait in the offseason a little bit let markets take shape it’s still December it’s still relatively early the Yankees have done a lot of heavy lifting in areas where those markets have hurried up the Outfield Market isn’t particularly great for the Yankees because the two guys that they could go after who are bigname guys and Anthony santader and tasar Hernandez are poor defensive fits in left Fields uh you know they don’t really know what like we didn’t really think the pitching Market was going to be this crazy but it has been absur up to this point you know Max freed let’s be honest right Max freed is not a bargain Max freed did not come at a bargain the Yankees did not do like the Yankees did not win uh the max freed sweep Stakes they paid more than they should have for Max freed right that’s fine I have no problem with that uh but yeah we’re GNA now I wanted to get to the let’s go Yankees chat we have Stephen here in the chat we have Zack G my boy Brennan steel Joseph saviano the LLB Channel HP lri Garcia Chris Drew we I cannot I’m really bad I’m not GNA pronounce that we got John we’ve got Ace peep we got so many people here there’s a lot to talk about I kind of got carried away talking about the qualifying offer and talking about uh Christian Walker uh but let’s get into why Paul Goldman I think this is the takeaway from hot where it’s like really Paul Goldman what the hell are we doing and I don’t necessarily view Paul goldmit as a highlevel solution the kind of player that I would Target heavily at first base uh and we’re going to now share my screen we’re going to get this going with this uh you know uh breakdown uh of the player of Paul Goldman himself uh now Paul goldmit this past season put up a 100 WRC plus I don’t know how well you can see this uh let me know if like it’s zoomed in well enough I’m going to wait for uh one of my uh one of these one of you guys to uh mention uh if you can read this if you can’t let me know I’m not going to start until uh you know I’m confirmed on that I don’t want you got I don’t want to like start getting into this and you guys are like hold on slow down uh you I can’t read any of this so let me know if you can read this if the text is too small if you’d like me to zoom in if you’d like me to zoom out if at any point during the and Zach G says you can read it I trust Zach I trust your eye I trust your ey enough where I’ll Trust it and take it as everyone’s word um now with that being said let’s look at what he did last season now Paul gmid had a 100 WRC plus it is the lowest Mark of his entire Major League career so last year was a step in the wrong direction uh for Paul Goldman who had 100 WRC plus again uh a 302 OBP by far the lowest of his career 245 average again the lowest of his career 414 slug again the lowest of his career so slash line career low Wu career low xoba career low WRC plus career low this is a guy who I would consider to be on the decline uh and and someone who I’m not 100% confident will have a productive Major League season in 2025 because these are some of the uh red flags we’re looking at right swinging strike rate look at that swinging strike rate it’s up 11 point to 11.9% from 10.8% which was up from 99.9% in his MVP season so Paul gmid is someone um who you know his his contact rates have decreased considerably over the last few years and this is a great question from Dylan Hustler what does WRC mean now WRC plus is this metric I’m referencing here it’s an all-encompassing offensive stat it’s going to take into account your ability to slug get on base your hitting Talent all of that not your base running just what you do at the bat it’s going to nor take that number and normalize it for the Run environment so let me give an example of what that means uh in 2021 run scoring was down the league average Ops was lower than it was let’s say in 20 000 the height of the steroid era so you would use WRC plus to compare players from different eras uh and figure out how much better they were than the league average hitter a 100 WRC plus is average Paul gold was a League average hitter last season if you are at 122 for example which is where he was at 2023 that’s 22% better than the league average so he was 22% better than average because he had a 122 WRC plus if that makes sense now using kind of some of the underlying metrics here let’s take a look at Zone contact rate this I like Zone contact rate a lot because Zone contact rate is basically how often you make pitches a contact on pitches that you swing at in the strike zone uh 79.8% that’s down a little bit from the year prior that’s considerably down from his 2022 year uh his Career Zone contact rate before the 2020 uh 4 season was 81.4% so his ability to make contact has degradated his Chase rate 28.9% that’s the highest of his career so he made worst swing decisions this year that he made at any point in his major league career uh that’s not encouraging either uh in terms of again swinging strike crate swung and missed way more than he usually does defensively look at the defensive run saved zero outs of average zero he was a bang on average defensive first baseman now someone mentioned this in the chat and this is a fine point if goldi can put up a 100 WRC plus he would be significantly better than we had at first base than what we had at first base last year and that’s true and you know you’re talking about trying to get better at a position yes Paul goldmit on paper is a better player than what Anthony Rizzo was last year uh but if you look at that 100 WRC plus and you go all right you know it’s not bad guess what Anthony Rizzo’s WR WRC plus was the year before he completely fell off it was 100 right so uh that’s important I know people mentioned second half improvements for Paul goldmit and you know to to uh you know Paul Gold’s credit he was very good in the second half let’s look at his splits uh and we’re going to look at 2024 we’re going to look at uh kind of monthly splits here let’s see if we can get it to I want WRC plus I don’t want average because that’s not going to tell me enough all right here we go so uh in March M April May and June the first three months of the Season he was a below average hitter those strikeout rates were incredibly high low walk rates and then July decent month nothing crazy hits for more power then in August has his best month of the year and then in September finish it off with a 115 WRC plus a solid month his first half stats 28 . 2% strikeout rate and an 87 WRC plus with a 143 isolated power a 373 slug the slug is the big thing here who’s not slugging at all and then in the second half 271 average 319 OBP 480 uh slug 120 WRC plus the problem is that the walk rate went down uh in terms of Swing decisions it did not improve but the thing that did kind of just remain solid this year was what he did against left-handed pitching he had a 134 WRC plus a 16.8% strikeout rate he’s someone who as Graham mentions here is someone who the Yankees can uh have Mentor someone like Ben rice someone who is a young player and yes he could platoon with Ben rice but I think it’s also important to note that you know and this is another thing to hear Too is Paul goldi gonna come on a one-year deal to the New York Yankees to be a short side a weak side platoon Paul Goldman if he hits against lefties will not get the majority of at bats Ben rice would I don’t think that’s their plan I think that um you know if we’re being honest the Yankees would sign Paul Gchat to be their starting first baseman their full-time first baseman someone who’s going to play a large chunk of games maybe and I say maybe you know end up having uh you know play h a chunk of games you know Venice maybe gets like two or three starts a week but I highly doubt that the New York Yankees uh would seriously consider playing Ben rice over Paul Goldman if they’re going to uh pay Goldman any money um love this show from the Paranormal in the fun house uh me and my son love it glad you can watch it too with me I appreciate you man you know I try to keep it light with curse words I’ll always give you guys a warning if I think I’m about to you know say the FW or whatever but I try to avoid doing that on live streams I just feels kind of weird I think I used to do that a lot more uh you know earli in the year I don’t think that’s what I should be doing so um there’s that yeah this is the other thing too rice sat down and cannot find a roster spot in uh Goldie struggles versus righties while play a little against left righties that’s true but then you have a Waldo cabera full-time player basically and that’s not what I’d like to do if I’m the Yankees that’s kind of where I’m at rice is garbage I disagree with this take I think Ben rice is a good player or is going to be a good player he has a chance to be a good player he has good batted ball data all of that stuff now one thing I wanted to uh look at with Paul goldmit is that you know there are talks about him being like a Yankee Stadium guy and you know again to Paul gold Schmid’s credit he kind of is a Yankee Stadium guy he is a guy who would perform better at Yankee Stadium at least this past season uh he didn’t pull the ball as much in the air as he usually does had a little more opposite field power um you know I do think uh that um for a lack of better terms one of the problems he may have had is that St Louis is not a great place for him to hit so I’m going to pull up spray charts here let’s look at his home his home games uh we’re going to go teams uh home team Cardinals and if you guys aren’t aware this is baseball Savant uh um we’re going to close edits overlay excuse me we’re gonna overlay this over Yankee stadium look at how he he would have hit Yankee Stadium now all now I think this ball isn’t a home run at Yankee Stadium I can confirm this right now uh I’m so sorry for that I my I audio is plugged to my Lexa I guess and not my there we go it should be plugged into my headphones not disturbing the stream uh you know one of the center field home run right here would not have gone out uh and I’m pretty I’m going to check if this one would have gone out oh wait I realized I’m not sharing this part of my screen this on this spray chart here there’s one home run that wouldn’t go out it’s this one center field uh but then you have one two three four five six probably six I’m going to count check these two for the X home run on themely this will get this copyright strike uh but I can show um I can show uh this illustrator here so these two wouldn’t get out but you still or excuse me these two wouldn’t get out but you still have one one two three four probably four home runs that would have gone out here at Yankee Stadium um that’s something right and look his numbers at home uh that’s just with batted balls his numbers at home weren’t really great this past season um if you look at pitch types so that’s not showing me this is only showing batted balls we’re get into more questions here uh does vlat in 2026 seem unrealistic I I’d say it is pretty unrealistic I think that the Yankees are not going to drop a bag on uh Vlad Gro Jr I also don’t know why my internet is so bad I realize like I realized the stream’s a little laggy I don’t love that um we’re gonna try getting rid of that tab GNA try getting rid of this tab sorry about that guys uh my internet is awful today uh anywh who so uh want this to update too this is not doing that um we’re going to go total pitches maybe is that going to change this nope is it just not going to ever change it nope okay anywh who uh so we’re just going to use this as the reference for um Home and Away splits Paul goldmit had a 266 average on the road a 220 something average on at home he only slugged 378 at home 276 OBP I wonder if hitting on the road would or hitting at Yankee St would help him um I wouldn’t like to bank on that personally but there’s that who’s your next prediction for us um that’s a great Point that’s a great question excuse me I think the Yankees are going to get like a reliever I think they’ll go after like Tim Hill um or whoever it may be Tim Hill strikes me as like just a Yankee right Tim Hill is just a guy who makes a lot of sense for the Yankees at this point in time um so yeah uh not that glaas I I think glaber’s fine the only kid that should be getting every day regular next year is G minguez he deserves starting spot we need to go with solidified guys the other positions that’s a fair that’s a completely Fair take especially without Juan stto you know you want want to be more secure in your uh position groups um let’s look at the Yanke projected lineup right now because um you know I think that this is where you can identify where they need to get better so Cabrera and Ben rice are playing at third and first I think every Yankee fan wants that to change now where that’ll change who that’ll change to that I’m not really sure about but I also think that there are a lot of options for them to get better at both positions we’re going to talk about some of those in a little bit uh do you see them making a big trade I’m not sure I I I would say anything’s on the table I I don’t know that you could rule them out of anything right now what about alandy and low TR the Rays that even possible it’s probably possible but I I think they’d rather package them in separate deals you can probably get more value packaging them in separate deals uh and also the Yankees aren the best phism in baseball so they aren’t like the team you’d want to give a two- player package you’d want to get you know top prospect somewhere else next move is third or first Tim Hill be there no team running to grab him I disagree I think teams are be willing to run and grab to Tim Hill it’s not like left-handed relievers grow on trees it’s really hard to find them and Hill had a really strong year last year do you think Yankees try and sign Santana from the twins now Carlos Santana is someone who I have repeatedly mentioned is a strong fit for the New York Yankees he put up a 114 WRC plus this past year played good defense and only had two years which is kind of mediocre but I’d even take you know that 100 WRC plus and say you know what it’s fine um now he had better numbers at home than on the road that makes sense uh twins ballpark it’s not like it’s a bad ballpark to hit in um at least if you’re you know switch hitter you know he hit better from the right-handed side than left-handed side I think the Yankees can help him a little bit with the left-handed side stuff because of that short porch in uh right field um he’s a solid player he is a solid position player he has decent power he hit 23 home runs this past year he hit 23 home runs the year prior uh 238 332 420 you’ll love to see that ex increase in the XA from the year prior that’s super encouraging defense let’s look at that defense guys eight defensive runs saved 14 outs above average that’s really good so um definitely encouraging stuff there uh at least for the Yankees I don’t think McMahon’s available with the Rockies you never know I don’t think the Rockies will trade Ryan mcmah I do not think Ryan McMahon is good that’s where I’m at um Spencer Jones needs to be Trad this off season can’t emphasize this enough he does not need to be traded but yes if an offer that come comes up that the Yankees are looking for is um you know available and it makes sense for the Yankees then yeah they should um you know the Yankees should look for to trade him if they can get something really good back or may get an impact player but I don’t think they should force a trade uh for him considering that so um you know I don’t I don’t know I don’t think that uh it makes much sense for the Yankees uh to just kind of throw anyone away for that reason with that being said um Bellinger moves the first base in 2026 after he signed Tucker uh I that’s assuming he doesn’t oped out and if Bellinger doesn’t opt out that’s really bad for us that means he had like a really bad year uh because if for him to say I can’t get more than $1 million on the market something awful must have happened to his Market is Jones block with the Yankees not exactly you know things are you know left field is still flexible because Bellinger you know he can move to first he could be a free agent after this year he could be a free agent at the very Le at the very late is gonna be a free agent after 2026 judge can move the first base a lot of different things can uh happen see with me Ryan Hassan Kim and Walker get it done Cashman now we’re I’m going to I’m going to get through a couple of comments here and then we’re GNA we’re going to segue a little bit uh Josh Young not gonna get traded ponzo could sign with the Nationals and bregman could sign with the Red Sox and see both happening I like Lamont Way Jr High OBP guy uh yeah I really like him you really know your stuff I appreciate you man I try to do my best hey Ryan what do you think about this three-way trade this from Jamie St Lewis would get Clark Schmidt some high prospects Rangers would get Ryan Hesley cousins Yankees get Donovan low and arado cards picking up some salary that’s a really interesting trade I’m not sure I’m not sure the the Cardinals will deal both Donovan and Aron that would seem a little counter productive because you’re trading an expensive infielder and a young infielder I would almost consider Donovan an extension candidate if they’re able to move off of uh Aon A’s money I know we talk up about uh Donovan but I also kind of realize that we haven’t got the the we’re at the point where we’ve had so many hot stoves and I thought today was kind of the nail the coffin for me where I don’t think Donovan’s realistic anymore um and then as it pertains to you know Nate low I would love Nate L now in in a vacuum is this like equal value for everybody yeah I would say it kind of is right you know you move off of Nolan Aron’s money now maybe the the Cardinals don’t pick up any of the money in order to facilitate the Donovan part of it but if you’re trading you know Schmid and high level prospects and you get you know Donovan la arnado like I don’t know what you do with arado uh don’t really know what you do with him uh but you know I I think the tough part is how do you fit arado Lao Donovan onto the same roster because you have to bench somebody in the group of vulpi jazz Bellinger all that stuff and I don’t think that’s necessarily possible so um yeah that’s where I’m at how is going to go all in after this he took it personally he will go over the 301 threshold I agree Michael I I know you asked this and I’m sorry I didn’t get to it I I was trying to loged in my head and I just flare questions right now but I agree I think the Yankees will exceed the 301 threshold that’s just my opinion though Andrew nardy now Andrew nardy would be a really fun get for the Yankees uh let’s pull up Andrew ny’s fan graph page here Andrew nardy has multiple years of control he’s a power left-handed pitcher I know that five ra it’s like oh five ra ugly hideous that’s not good and look this 1.27 home runs per nine that’s not great but the strikeout rates look at those strikeout rates 33.3% 88.6% walk rate the FIP 2 point 3.33 the expected ra 2.75 that 325 B pip is that going to sustain itself probably not right so uh you know you look at the underlying metrics they’re very good uh one concern I do have that fast ball Stuff Plus dropped a little bit slider Stuff Plus was still there but that fast ball not as effective as it was last year I want to see if there’s a mileage drop there seems to not have been a mile per hour drop we’ll check on baseball Savant um we’re gonna go to share this tab instead um let’s see and this is not Andrew nardy hey I love Andrew nardy I just I want to know why the fast ball stuff plush dropped um let’s see right here so you see his fastball slider combination wasn’t as effective in terms of weighted on base average but the whiff rates hey they actually climbed he got more whiffs in the fast ball fewer whiffs in the slider but that’s 1.3% that’s not really much of a oh my gosh what happened here situation arm angle didn’t really change I know it’s two degree difference and you might go oh that’s a lot that’s not really a lot um what are we looking for vertical movement here we go so his fast ball gained vertical ride but gained arms Side Run am I really GNA look at that and say oh no his fast ball got worse it’s interesting as Stuff Plus went down I find that super intriguing I guess he got hit a little harder he did get hit considerably harder this year but like even then that X wacon that X woba they all say hey he was the same pitcher as he was last year in terms of quality of contact a lot stuff the launch angle did go up maybe the Yankees are gonna have to help him try to keep the ball on the ground a little bit um that’s something where like he went from like a 43% ground ball rate to a 33% maybe that change UPS a pitch to kind of throw in there but H the results so far Haven been great even the movement Pro not really a great great change up so I think you know fast ball slider guys got a sweeping slider uh yep that 11 Point oo that slider did lose some some movement and didn’t really gain velocity I wonder I wonder what Andrew nardy will be able to do um if he moved away from Miami and kind of got to pitch for the Yankees with the Yankees for a little bit definitely a plus pitcher I wonder what it will take to get him um and you know I I really I really find a lot of injury I’m very interested in Andrew nard I’ve always liked him I’ve talked him up for a while so uh yeah Padre’s Kim is not ready to start he won’t be ready to start on opening day but Jeff passon said he’ll return in late April that’s enough for me to say I’d still sign him talking about trading heal for anyone is wild Michael I think there are Avenues where I would trade Luis heel there are Avenues where I would trade anyone there are situations in which anyone in my there’s a price for everyone and that’s kind of where that’s where I think I differ a little bit I don’t have Untouchables I don’t believe in Untouchables I believe that there is a price everyone’s willing to pay to trade and get rid of a player can we do a one for one the Rangers strowman for low Bronx answer uh I would love this for the Yankees but I do not think the Rangers would import strowman an $8 million of salary for Brandon uh Nate low uh here’s kind of the reason why um let’s look at their roster for a second and again you’re always trying to match roster needs right why does Nate L work for the Yankees because the Yankees get first basein but why would uh you know strowman work for the Rangers Well he kind of wouldn’t right look at the rotation Cody Bradford Tyler Mali John Gray Jacob the gr Nathan naldi they’re all going to be healthy um you know on uh opening day or at the start of spring training let’s look at Cody Bradford Cody Bradford in you know 70 Grant oh I did not mean to press stop sharing sorry guys uh I’m still getting used to this uh so Cody Bradford in uh 76 in the third Innings 3.54 ra uh 22.4% strike art rate 4.2% walk rate good underlying metrics good expected ER that’s their projected five starter how about um you know how about Tyler Mali right Tyler Mai is someone who last year only made three starts didn’t pitch particularly well but you know good underlying metrics right you know he’s always kind of been in his career let’s look at this four-year run here before the injury 390 ER 383 uh skill interactive ra good swing and Miss numbers right like this is a pitcher who um you know I think any team would have a lot of interest in this is someone who I think that the uh Rangers would rather start instead of strowman so I don’t think their bull their rotation the big need I think again it’s the bullpen I think this is where the yakes can make a deal or there’s a deal to be had can they sign some relievers and then maybe flip some of them uh in a deal for uh Nate low uh let’s see kind of off topic here uh what position do the Yankees draft in their draft with the first pick this year um I think the Yankees will draft anyone the best player available they’ll draft the best player available I don’t think there’s anyone in particular that they’re going to Target in terms of um positional fit I think they’ll go for anyone anyone that’s the best player available they’ll have their list of players they’ll have a board up but I think they’re going BPA I think the Yankees always draft BPA BPA is best player available Michael be says ryy be a fit any baseball operations and any front office keep it up man appreciate it I don’t think I do very well in baseball Ops I don’t think I’m objective enough but appreciate that man how much do the Yankees have before they reach a luxury tax I think it’s more than 12 million so the fourth threshold I believe is what you’re referencing I think it’s about $10 million I think they’re about 10 million away uh but let’s check here fangraphs has its own payroll tracker and we’re going to look for the Yankees and we’re going to say all right who is um you know who is on payroll who is making money apologies again um in terms of luxury tax they’re at 289 so yes it’s close to 12 million I was wrong um it’s about roughly it’s about 11 it’s a little bit closer to 11 and 12 but or not a little bit closer it’s under $12 million uh but it’s above $11 million in that 11 to 12 million range so that’s where the Yankees are at in terms of money left over until the uh fourth threshold which again I think they’re willing to exceed who do you think zazaki signs with uh the Dodgers seeing how difficult it would be to pry catel Marte from the Arizona would it be more likely to get yeno Suarez for third and move Chism to Second they need pitching depends on how what the it depends on what the Diamondbacks would be asking for and what the Yankees have to offer the Yankees did trade away ner Cortez and that does mean they’re likely not going to trade out of the rotation again unless they can sign a quality starting pitcher and I think that’s where the Arizona Diamondbacks would need help let’s look at again let team fits team needs what do these teams need uh in terms of uh Bullpen help the Dbacks project pretty well in the bullpen the Diamondbacks are the same projected War as the Yankees uh if because if you look at the Diamondbacks Bullpen some of the things that have changed from last year they’re gonna have AJ P for a full year they’re going to have Justin Martinez Kevin GLE Ryan top like this is a really good front end of Bullpen now the back end kind of like the depth guys it’s a little bit of a you know wild west but when when you look at their core guys when you look at their core guys manly Thompson GLE pke Martinez there are a few uh fiveman groups that are as good as that fiveman group so um you know they have I think enough Firepower in their Bullpen that they can get away with like signing a guy uh would they do need help or just signing like a random guy where they do need help is the rotation and I don’t think the Yankees are in a position where they’re going to deal out of the rotation now the Yankees have a strong projected ra 387 that’s really good uh what about their War again 14.1 that’s really good that’s like right around that’s a step behind some of the best rotations they’re in that like tier 1B with rotations or that tier B plus whatever you want to call it the Diamondbacks are not in a great spot with their rotation they need help there so can the Yankees really help them I’m not particularly sure I’m not sure if there’s a pitchure the Yankees are going to be willing to trade uh for you Suarez that would match up here um let’s see what else we’ve got uh some talk of trading trino what can we get for him now considering that the Yankees got what I would consider to be a pretty good Prospect back for Carlos darvz that being ELO Rodriguez Cruz I would wonder what you can get back for onee POS trino there’s not a lot of attractive options in terms of catching Talent kioka got I think $12 million over two years that’s about $6 million aav um trino makes $3 million for his luxury tax I think the Yankees should again there are no such thing as Untouchables I don’t think the Yankees should aggressively shop Travino I think they should be willing to field calls they should be willing to take calls at any play on the roster um and see what they can get for trino the problem is that it’s going to be really hard to find anyone who can help you at the catching position uh internally because of how good defensively trino is and externally because again the catching Market kind of sucks you know kosoku was out there I did not think the Yankees were GNA pay more for catching this year um you know look again K kagok excuse me uh what he signed he signed a 6.57 so look at the AVS for these guys gonna zoom out a little bit okay so or or I guess no we’re gonna zoom out a little bit I’m sorry if you guys can’t read this uh but I’m just I want to be able to read it to you guys and we got a super chat from jstation that I see I’ll get there in a second uh the guys who’s like Austin hedge is going to make more than Jose I’d rather have a Jose trino than Austin hedes or Jacob Stallings who’s going to make about half a million less so you know all these guys they’re cool players you know they’re fun whatever but they’re either a just not better than Jose trino or B they are and they’re more expensive and the Yankees were never going to go after them so um yeah J they do like jcar a lot though and there’s a lot of Buzz around him around baseball um Jas station thank you for the donation appreciate you let’s get a [Applause] let’s go the [Music] godamn appreciate you jstation thank you for the donation trade stro to the giants eat $4 million doll and sign bregman or car and sign bregman and Carlos Santan now I don’t know how much the Giants are really going to increase their payroll they are very in on Corbin Burns they let’s look at the roster again let’s look at the roster resource so we’re going to look at Giants we’re going to look at their moner we’re going to say hey what do they need and you know you look at the rotation kind of [ __ ] sucks oh apologies for the language there uh apologies paranormal in the fun house and we will talk about AJ Miner because I do want to talk about AJ Miner and the bullpen in a second um the problem here is like Jordan Hicks probably needs to be in the bullpen Robbie Ray is a walking Health concern Kyle Harrison’s coming off a year where he was solid he’s a young pitcher but he’s gonna be a stud I don’t know Landon rup uh he’s interesting Landon rup that is he had a really strong uh stint with the uh Giants kind of in a weird role he started towards the end of the season let’s see how he did in this starting role got shellacked in his final start but he’s got some interesting you know he’s an interesting arm let’s look at stuff plus scores you know Stuff Plus loves him he throws decently hard he’s got decent stuff good Breakers good secondaries so you know are the Giants let’s say who let’s say they end up signing Corbin Burns which I I do think that they will but that’s a prediction again we’re just going to roll with two outcomes here if they get Corbin Burns and they push which I think it’ll be Jordan Hicks who comes out of the rotation he seems better serve for a bullpen roll where are they fitting Marcus strowman into this Keaton win I don’t know if he’s gonna be back in time but he’s a prospect who can start uh you know they have starting pitching prospects I just want to pull them up hold on Mason black someone I was actually super interested in for a little bit Hayden bird song’s got the kick change Carson Seymour wion hunt they’ve got dudes who can pitch so I do Wonder uh yeah I do wonder what like happens you know from Carlos appreciate you Carlos buy yourself something nice keep it the work thank you man thank you so much and you know I’ve got to deal K you with [Applause] [Music] the the [Music] godamn so thank you Carlos by the way if you have any questions you know you can ask me and I got you man uh but thank you Carlos really appreciate it um now as it pertains tocara again we talked aboutcar in our last stream he is someone who I think the Yankees do like I think the other organizations across the league would have some interest in so we’ll see if the Yankees either a choose to play him B choose to trade him uh which doesn’t have to happen this winter could happen during the season or whatever it may be could we sign tener Scott I’d be shocked if the Yankees spent a lot of money on a relever after spending a lot of some draft some cap like player capital on Devin Williams um yes the infamous hey I’m JC escar and I do everything well conversation uh Mike Richardson Goldy should not be an option and they should be signing and they should be signing any more players with a qualifying offer if you’re saying they should not be signing players with a qualifying offer I get that if you’re saying they’re also not going to sign Paul goldmit or they shouldn’t sign him I also get that I would say that’s a very reasonable thing to say a green man I think we’re spending we’re done spending big on the bullpen after Williams trade yeah I think that they’re going to go for like those you know interesting guys um Ryan what do you think would what do you think it would take to get a guy like Brent Rooker I’m sure he’s not available but just wondering heel plus Spencer possibly than others I think heel like heel for Rooker probably works right like heel for Rooker the A’s want pitching Rooker is three years of control Big Time bat I think that definitely works um personally you know it would be tough to imagine how Rooker fits defensively but he’s such a good bat you kind of wouldn’t care I think that’s what the Yankees mentality would be on Rooker uh but obviously yeah you know he’s a big bat he’s got tons of Pop great dude too um he just you know may not fit the Inc as best defensively I’m not sure the Orioles uh the Athletics uh are all that interested in uh stealing him away now Michael troan says think we could get Massie from the royals let’s talk about Michael Massie I wrote an article earlier this morning talking about just kind of I wasn’t really like going based off of uh like Scoops or anything I was just talking about players who I find interesting and who I think you know could get moved or on in situations where either a you know there’s a there’s a surplus of infielders on that team um or B uh the player has been linked in trade rumors and that was for Lee Castro we’re gonna get back to this in second because we do have another Super Chat from vlat P I’ll take a booty player for the chance to get vlat Tucker next year I know if we sign Walker and Alonzo then uh next year out on them first off thank you for the Super Chat so folks lay the godamn song but I will say I’m not that interested in using next year’s free agency as a reason to not get better this season you have no guarantee that Kyle Tucker will hit free agency you have no guarantee that Vlad Gro Jr will hit free agency you have no guarantee that Vlad Gro Jr is interested in joining your team you have no guarantee that Kyle Tucker is interested in going to New York you have to go out and get better I’m not saying they should spend stupid money but I am saying they should spend what they think is worth value for certain players if they think that they like the if they like the value can get Christian Walker at on January 15th because his Market falls apart you have to sign him because that’s a player you like the Yankees like Christian Walker that’s well reported on I’m not going to hear any walk back takes from anyone like oh they didn’t really like him that’s why no they do they just don’t like him at four years they come out three years not at four years we’ll see if these two t teams can come to a union but getting back to Michael Massie here and thank you v p for the uh super chat again really appreciate it very grateful and look I think it’s a very good talking point that I think warrants a good conversation these are the kinds of conversations I think we should be having as Yankee fans what should they wait for 2026 is it go time and you know someone mentioned in here uh the AL is wide open we need to get better now I would agree from that I I would agree with that I I would agree this is probably their best chance to win the World Series outside of last year right um and let’s look at share this tab instead I have to say that out loud because if I don’t I’m G to click the wrong thing and I’m gonna end the presentation for some reason look at the um American League so uh the top projected teams outside of the Yankees Orioles 522 uh win percentage what does that make what does that uh Pace out to 84.5 wins they’s at 535 that’s an 86.6 win projection so 87 wins so the Yankees are about two wins better than the Orioles right now again still not uh you know to the point where I’m like oh we’re so much better than Baltimore they’re gonna we’re gonna crush him next year uh but I do view it as a gap for it’s like okay going into the season the Yankees are a better team than the Orioles but you have to be a lot better you have to be significantly better you have to be considerably better than everyone else to feel comfortable at the top I don’t feel comfortable with the Yankees right now I feel uncomfortable with this roster I want to feel comfortable with this team so we’ll see they go from there um Vlad gets 400 plus million most likely and I could see why the yanes would say I don’t want to give $400 million to a first baseman that is going to be a DH because if you think sto’s going to be ADH man you better think vlad’s gonna be a DH I think Cherry could be throwing a m McMahon trade I would not trade Jose trino for Ryan McMahon I don’t know if that’s a hot take I wouldn’t do I think trav’s a better player than Ryan McMahon yeah you know the losses the Orioles are going to have are pretty significant I don’t think they’re gonna be add anyone that’s better than Corbin Burns because Garrett crochet flew off the board I thought that was their chance to upgrade in the rotation um I’m bummed he went to the Red Sox that makes them considerably better they’re right there at the oral they’re right on the heels of like passing the orals in ter terms of depth charts get Walker were stable at first for three years and again you know when you talk about Christian Walker look uh we’re not going to not going to go to players his player page we’re gonna go to uh first base where like what what’s going on first over the last three years nope not second base that’s not what we’re looking for we’re gonna talk about Michael Massie in a second because I really want to talk about Michael Massie the Yankees let’s look at first base right Christian Walker right there sixth in war 447 games seven games played so among first basem how durable is he he’s among the most durable at the position home runs 95 that’s the third most WRC plus 120 uh that’s 11th that’s pretty good right he’s a pretty good offensive first baseman granted you know uh for you know these players ahead of him I would not consider all of them better hitters but some of them better hitters um let’s look at uh defense right because defense is obviously the king here uh with uh Walker how much better to see than everyone else defensively first base oh yeah he is significantly better than everyone else defensively let’s go to zero yeah yeah this isn’t close guys he is considerably better than everyone else defensively at first base so um you know that’s important uh now for Michael Massie we’re gonna talk about Michael Massie now um Massie last season had a pretty like he had a me offensive year 102 WRC plus a 1.5 War if you you know he roughly had like a two and a half War year over the course of a full season three outs of average two Fielding one value his defense got better from last year uh that’s a good sign can’t really play anywhere else which is a little bit like weird I’m kind of shocked they don’t move him around he kind of feels like a utility guy but he’s not um the thing I found super interesting was his power what he had really good game Power 14 oh runs and a 100 games is no joke 14 home runs in 100 games um is uh if you average it out to 150 of course um is a 21 home run pace and then you look at the Savant data let’s look at Michael Massie let’s share this tab instead let’s look at Michael Massie overlaid over Yankee Stadium that’s one two 3 four five 6 7 8 9 10 11 no not 11 like 10 more what the hell what’s going on here right uh according to M baseball Savant Michael Massie sh this stab instead would have had 20 home runs at Yankee Stadium 20 he would have had 20 home runs if he played all his games at Yankee Stadium he that that’s not that’s nothing to now granted part of that is postseason games you have to count you know the seven game six games you play in the postseason um we was actually pretty solid you know 122 WRC plus can’t snot sniff at that or excuse me scoff at that um let’s look at you know let’s do the math here right so one so let’s take 20 let’s divide it by 106 let’s multiply it um let’s multiply it uh excuse me by 150 that’s a 28 home run Pace guys that’s ridiculous that’s insane right so uh you know Massie good defensive second baseman the Royals just acquired Jonathan India look what are the Royals gonna do with Michael Massie they could play him in the Outfield maybe the DH Jonathan India but are they gonna sit Freddy for me what I would do is I would play Perez at DH start Fred fine who is a much better defensive catcher than salador Perez nine Fielding run value 16 defensive run save yeah I’d catch starm in a heartbeat at at catcher d8 shabor Perez keep his legs fresh move India thei maybe move in Michael mass or India to third that’s something they could do maybe they don’t move Massy if they do that but if they don’t move Michael Garcia who I don’t really have much interest I know that was a question in the chat I yeah I’m not really like Michel Garcia yeah I’m I’m good off this hits the ball hard sure but it’s like straight to the ground no I’m good off that the point is uh you know Mass would be his fun ad he’s perfect for the Yankees it’s just one of those things where I’m not 100% sure the worlds would trade him he’s just a fun thought experiment uh I don’t want it to be put out there that he’s like available because I can’t confirm that I don’t think arado is uh a good first base option or third base option for the Yankees the bat doesn’t really play here let’s talk about the cron Zone Jake cronenworth let’s talk about cronenworth um now Jake Cronin worth let’s take a look here had a 105 WRC plus last season 338 expected on base average the highest he’s had since 2021 he got decent pop 7.7% power rate 88.6 average exit V Chase rate went down walk rate still there strikeout rate still low gr B rates not not great but not horrible still can run a little bit hits into too many double plays that’s a little bit of a concern right but you could probably lead him off I mean the OBP isn’t great but you can you know the plate skills are there um the big thing for me with uh Cronin worth is that he can play first he can play second I know he didn’t play second great last year but I think he’s a good defensive second baseman play a little bit of third he did play some shortstop I’m never goingon to want him to play shortstop though he can play three INF field positions he’s kind of like a DJ lahu but not awful at baseball uh and he’s also got what one would consider a swing that profiles well for Yankee Stadium now Jake Cronin worth let’s look at the splits here he hit better at home this year I want check to see if he had like significant splits that would suggest that like why can’t I get anything going here on Fang graphs what is going on we’re going to this is weird I might turn off that Christmas lights feature I’m not gonna lie guys uh split stool uh no I want career there we go homeing away home numbers his career WRC Plus at home and I’m pretty sure he’s played his entire uh if I’m not mistaken his entire this is not working anyways um Bryce Tang I don’t think the Brewers would move off of Bryce terang um he’s he’s cheap he’s good uh they need infielders anyways they just lost Willie adamis and the Yankees trade away their only um the Yankees TR their only like infielder that is Major League ready that would entice a team into trading away a major league player and that was Caleb dervin um so there’s that all right finally all right he has better numbers on at home than on the road he had two straight years where he was a bad hitter at home um and his power was like bad at home then you know he kind of improved that and then you know last two it’s kind of weird he’s he’s weird he’s a weird play I kind of expected konorth to be better on the road but oh well any who uh how does he hit against lefties can he can he handle lefties if he can’t handle lefties I don’t think he’s gonna be an option for the Yankees because the Yankees need guys who can hit lefties uh Soo hit lefties and that was something that you’re losing um if this is ever gonna load of course you know I have to ditch this croner worth conversation if we’re not gonna um you know if we’re not if this if fancraft isn’t going to cooperate with me we might have to abandon this conversation yeah I think DJ is in uh DFA territory like I genuinely think the Yankees now this is a crazy idea guys and don’t kill me on this the Yankees should roster pza and cut DJ perza can hit lefties cabera can hit righties what they should probably do is acquire an infielder and have as your backup option Caba hit against righties uh perazza hit against lefties and play second base if if you’re starting option there gets hurt corworth is a 90c plus against lefties this past year was awful against lefties so uh maybe that’s not an Avenue for the Yankees mat we got sherzer or Verlander uh I don’t think either player is particularly good anymore uh especially Verlander I actually think sherzer should like I think sherzer is not a bad investment for a team I don’t think the Yankees should invest in um I don’t think the Yankees should invest in uh starter I think he could sign as a starter and still be a productive one at the major league level so um there’s that that’s kind of where I’m at with that uh what did we have we have good questions I’m so sorry guys you have good questions and I I just I’m getting swarmed which is great this is fun uh I just feel like an [ __ ] uh let’s see what we got here could the Yankees oh I this is what I want to talk about yes okay Carl’s K thank God someone mentioned it because I want to talk about him I know mentioned earlier in the chat not the first person who mentioned him I know uh but Carlos kareah now this was interesting verbiage from Jeff passon he likened Carlos kareah situation to Luis Castillo situation Carlos kareah I know he has the injury concerns but if you played him at third instead of Short Stop is it easier on his lower half the other thing is good God he hits right he’s got really good offensive numbers 155 WC plus 4.3 War just 86 games is ridiculous good pop good good OBP skills he just cut his strikeout right down to 16.6% he hit the ball really hard still I logged in where’s my is where’s my custom where’s my custom uh dashboard where are you what my custom dashboard my custom dashboard needs to load because I that’s that’s where I have like my exito stuff there it is there oh no what did I do sorry um all right he hit the ball really hard still 99.1% bar rate 90.3 exit vow 445 hard hit rate good swing decisions good Zone aggression good Chase rate ground ball rate came down a little bit Fly ball rate came up a little bit power was there 207 isolated power 14 and1s 86 games man that would freaking Rock he should be at the top of their want list if he’s available he should be at the top of their want list because he’s probably the best player they can get if they traded for him 310 388 517 God it’s a gorgeous lash line imagine him hitting in front of Aaron judge imagine all that stuff he is a gorgeous ball player pause but he’s a gorgeous hitter he’s a great hitter he’s a great Fielder he’s an unbelievable Le leader uh he is someone who if he stopped getting hurt so much would probably be a first bout Hall of Famer if I’m being honest because he is a truly excellent baseball player I mean that in the in in the I mean that like wholeheartedly he is a truly excellent baseball player um unfortunately that means that a buddy of mine would win buddy who some of you may know himr Kario I think the contract’s too much of an of a detriment uh he’s an interesting kind of I liked himer Kario in last year’s free agency but look at the numbers oh no what happened 87 WRC plus ah he was so bad this year higher swing strike rate that’s 13.6% yikes right this would have been a Miss on my end he chased way more s he swung in the zone way more but he was so bad he was so bad he was Chas his walk rate G swinging strike rate no no right like everything just collap s for him his defense got even worse his defense was like solid last year now it’s bad his defense uh at first base was like eh who cares now it’s awful Zone contact rate he was a super high Zone contact guy 87% that dropped to 82.6 what the hell happened here so uh you know he just he just fell off a cliff I don’t be dealt with injuries um that is a bad contract I you do not want that contract but he may have been win winning as long as the Yanke win I’m happy right um begrudgingly I look I don’t hate hmer I love hmer condara but yeah it was a rough year it’s a rough year it was a rough year for him I don’t see why the Yankees should get him um uh I don’t think the Yankees have the ammo to trade for Jared Jones I want you guys to look at Jared Jones the way like he has more value than Luis he’ll probably does in the market and I know that sounds crazy to say but Jared Jones might be one of like he might be a top 10 starting pitcher next season he’s that good um so I I say this to say he is a great talent he has ridiculous armed Talent a ridiculous repertoire unbelievable swing and Miss stuff I am of the opinion uh that the yanes should um not the Yankees the uh Pirates should just keep him at that point um either we get break I do not again keep me far away from Ryan MCB so um yeah and Diaz I would love Yanni Diaz would love Yanni Diaz I know he was like briefly mentioned on hot St but we didn’t get enough about gauging the interest level there yeah Jared Jones is is incredible pitcher like he is on really Cora is not playing first base for the Yankees next year uh if he is playing for the Yankees next year even if he is he’s not playing first base um let me just fix my mic for a second hold on because I I think it’s gonna be a little bit of issues all right we’re back uh Brandon Lao is the one now Brandon laau freaking rocks folks we’ve talked about Brandon LA’s bat it fits Yankee Stadium very well 123 WRC plus he has played first base he wasn’t bad out there I wonder if the Yankees could consider playing La at first base and signing Hassan Kim now that I put this out into the world I think that everyone on planet Earth is going to follow in my lead and go oh my God can you play first base he’s not a great defensive second base can you play first blah blah blah he looked decent at first last year two DRS in 96 Innings if theke were to play Brandon low at first I think it would keep his body healthy uh he hits the ball really hard he hits the ball in the air he’s super aggressive in zone um and um yeah I think he would be you know yeah and you could sign Hassam Kim that’s quite the ball club right that’s quite a highle team that’s quite an excellent team I wonder if that’s something the Yankees and maybe the Rays uh would consider uh you know I wonder if the Rays would consider playing lot first if they traed Diaz so super ball to play first in your opinion he is 510 I know I guess it is kind of short uh but like for context I’m pretty sure Carlos Santana is a shorter guy Carlos Santana is 5’11 for context so it’s not like uh you know yeah it’s not like um you know it’s not like uh how do I put this gosh it’s not like Brandon law is like the shortest first base in baseball or like there aren’t Elite defensive guys are like that how about offering Christian Walker a one-year deal I don’t think he would take a one-year deal um honestly uh I’m not for it not for it not for it um not for I not that I’m not for it um fudge uh I don’t think Walker’s for it I don’t think Walker would necessarily be like oh yeah I want to one year D I think he wants multiple um years when it comes to that so uh yeah get me Willie Castro would be fun would be a fun get would be a fun get good good swing for Yankee Stadium uh so yeah Jason bul to play for his base that’d be interesting I don’t think it would happen but that’d be interesting Ryan uh thoughts on uh Luis Robert Luis Robert is a fun player let’s look at Luis Robert’s numbers from last year he had a struggle last year he was not a very productive player for the white socks 84 WRC plus Chase rate went down but in zone aggression went down bar rates way down hard hit rate way down exit vo actually was kind of up but couple of things that really concerned me here the bip was there the power wasn’t why wasn’t the ball getting out of the yard he wasn’t pulling it he hadit everything in the center field I think what the Yankees need to do is get him to pull the ball a little more get him a little more like pull H happy again the only problem is that he struck out a lot still like this is fine this isn’t right I wonder what happened here let’s see the C strike great did that go up yep 13 He took more strikes this year than any year of his career what I wonder about with Robert is if he’s just disinterested and I get being disinterested when you’re playing for the Chicago White Socks it is a horrible it’s horrible it’s a terrible situation right it’s a terrible situation terrible so you know if you can get him as a bow without tra Dominguez that’d be fun uh if not you know hope hope he does well on other team he’s a fun player he’s a cool player I have a ton of respect for Luis Robert Jr uh but yeah yeah he’s and and the weird thing is again it’s it’s the whiff rates right like well the whiff rate didn’t go up the whiff rate didn’t go up guys he he took more strikes it’s so weird uh look 2023 18 point he was swinging and missing way more in 2023 he was so good that year why the hell wasn’t he like why wasn’t he better again it seems to have to do a lot with um taking more pitches just not swinging as aggressively that’s so weird that’s so weird guys and when you look at his start to the season obviously dealt with the injury was on the iil like pretty fast comes back all he was doing I’m pretty sure was hitting home runs right it was literally all he was doing yeah it was all he was doing just hitting home runs not doing anything else um and then he just kind of went into a slump and God I mean I just feel bad for him because I feel like you know he’s someone who a good team can turn around but the white socks are not a good team so yeah I don’t know I think Robert’s a good player I don’t think the Yankees um are going to be the team that takes the flyer on him because I don’t think they have the highest group of prospects to get I don’t think the um he’s the only guy and I don’t think the Yanke is the only team who would think to themselves hey we can fix him so um yeah are the Yankees getting Paul gold Schmid I don’t know I don’t know Tyler Scott already can never have too much Bullpen help uh Hal Bryan let’s go he’s going to cost a lot I don’t think the Yankees are going to go out and invest a ton in uh the bullpen your orbit Vivas was initially considered before Caleb Duran for second base now that durban’s gone why do you think Vivas being considered again I don’t think Vivas is gonna play second base for the Yankees at the start 2025 season barring some insane uh boost in spring training let’s press to share this tab button we’re gonna go to the uh this is uh the realist mut Muto uh.com which is a great website for uh swing decision data uh we’re going to look at Triple A what did ybit vbos do in Triple A this year good Zone contact rates good pulled Fly ball rates not a ton of hard hit rates it’s not hit the ball very hard decent swing decisions very aggressive in zone that’s fun the problem is just he just didn’t like he got off to a good start he got to a slow start excuse me after he came back from getting hit in the freaking head with a foul ball if you guys remember that in spring training um he was looking really good before he uh got called up he had uh in his League season he had a 120c plus was hitting for a little more pop like oh my God is he here came back from the iil right you’re like oh my gosh look at these numbers right 13 plus like look at this this is awesome good walk rates good strikeout rates he cuts called up and he doesn’t get to play and then they sent him down and then he just kind of uh it just kind of didn’t go the way he wanted it to his his September was a struggle uh he did if I’m not mistaken he does kind of have a tendency to wear down towards the end of the season happened to him last year um happened to him the year prior to uh you know I I thought Vivas showed encouraging signs he hit a ball 110 um he hit the ball more in the air like these are good Trends he was pulling the ball he just didn’t finish the year you way the way you wanted him to he didn’t finish the year the way that you hoped he would he didn’t have the Strong finish I uh hope that next year is a little bit better for him and that he’s able to kind of uh lift the ball a little more and maybe get a little more oomph swing he’s entering his age 24 season he still still has a minor league option again maybe there’s a chance he does something in 2025 H palano problem with him is the defense but I’m very interested in the bat tror lnac uh I wonder if his defense holds up at Yankee Stadium I also wonder if the Yankees and twins match up well in the deal not the Yankees don’t have a starting pitcher to just kind of hand hand out to anybody um that’s those are the only two concerns I have uh not concerns I guess question marks when it comes to will the Yankees and the twins make for good trade Targets on a player with multiple years of control um by the way if you guys are here if you guys are uh watching this and by the way uh Mar uh Max Kepler is signing a one-year deal uh with the Philadelphia Phillies so uh just let you guys know that that was the one who I thought was a fun like lowc cost option um but I honestly I think once you get Bellinger you no longer look at those kinds of players um so uh yeah uh with that being said though let’s let’s take a look here um what do we got Max yep yep saw that better than Aaron judge Max kep that’s so funny not playing two rookies in starting lineup that’s just my opinion though look I I would be against it um but yeah that’s where I’m at um we’ll see signing Walker would move them pretty close to the Coen tax it would they would surpass a Coen tax at that point um but the way I look at it is um you know if they’re willing to go past that budget they should they should go past it you know this is they have to go do a job um they have to go get better uh and they you know they need a second baseman they need a write a first baseman um I don’t think that they can I don’t think they can go about this without getting both that’s that’s my take on all this they got to do both love your videos thank you for the fire content appreciate hey Trevor I appreciate you man I thank you man thank you really appreciate you dude that this rocks thank you uh who do you think your opening day leadoff man is Dominguez or vulpi ideally neither ideally they’re both hitting like you know eighth 9th yeah we’ll see yeah I am kind of uh sad that that’s the play who got mentioned I hope that that’s not what ends up happening uh and I hope what ends up happening is that uh the Yankees sign someone else what I hope happens is that the Yankees sign someone else that’s my uh that’s my opinion on this need lead off guy bad uh we do I agree preparing myself to be disappointed uh with either palano or mak’s back fallback options um yeah I’m not gonna lie man uh I don’t think the Yankees uh should um I guess the best way to put it is I don’t think the Yankees should go after palanco because his defense is uh a big question mark although I do think you know the bat can be better than people think same thing uh with mon Ada except I’m much more concerned about the bat and I’m equally as concerned about the glove uh put up 1.5 War last year why is does no one want to give him a shot because he’s better in the utility role where you can play him if something goes wrong something goes wrong in the infield that’s exactly what I would want um that’s what I want that’s that’s what I want I want the Yankees um to go out and um for a lack of better terms I I want the Yankees to have depth I want them to be depth I want us to have consistency plans yeah he’s like marwin Gonzalez exactly he’s like a better version of marwin Gonzalez utility guy that’s what he should be that’s all he should be um what wonder if the Yankees can get creative and just look at some solid prospects who are just block right now like a Michael Bush can’t think of anyone though um that’s a good point uh I think that there I mean again I I talked about some players who are blocked um but that’s kind of where I’m at uh so uh yeah I was at the Yankee socks when we came back to the end I was hyped hashtag go Yanks hashtag go Yanks man I think it was was that that game where Trent Grisham did a job um where he like kind of came through was it that one I’m not sure they sign Goldie IMO Goldie gets a majority of starts over rice assuming health and Goldie is completely unplayable yeah look I mean again is it could it work yes do I think it will not particularly am I all for it not particularly so uh yeah also if you guys are here and you guys aren’t subscribed on YouTube make sure you guys like comment and subscribe to the YouTube page we’re g be streaming for at least we want to go for another hour if you guys are uh up for it uh we’re willing to make this a much longer stream uh that’s because I just I don’t have school I want you know I took that off yesterday I don’t have like school to wake up for tomorrow I don’t have an assignment to like sweat over for tomorrow it’s kind of nice so yeah I don’t think Luis arise is gonna happen I think his defense is quite underwhelming his offensive profile may be regressing there are some concerns I talk about Sam so availability still 40 hor in that bat yes I did see the apology I think it’s stupid that they have to apologize it’s stupid they have to apologize for that it’s stupid it’s so dumb that he has to apologize for taking steroids let’s let’s paint the picture of 1990 uh the 1990s the rickets the Cubs they were profiting off of Samy Sosa him taking steroids is probably one of the best things to ever happen to uh Bud seelig to happen to the Cubs to happens to Major League Baseball marketing at the time so all these guys got the put away millions of dollars in their pockets while the sport was making hundreds of millions they’re getting billies out there from Sammy Sosa and Mark Maguire look do they have to be in the Hall of Fame no that’s something that I think is completely different but do they have to apologize what do they have to apologize for why does the organization apologize you let it happen you didn’t tell them no it’s your job it’s your responsibility happened under your watch it happened in your Clubhouse in your organization it it’s such [ __ ] that Sammy SAA has to apologize just that the Cubs could acknowledge the existence how about you apologize for profiting off of it how about you apologize for letting it happen in your Dugout or your Clubhouse it’s so freaking stupid I agree but celik should apologize soci to help save baseball exactly they shouldn’t have to apologize for it if they want to apologize for it I love that if they want to apologize for it you know that’s great that’s mature whatever whatever you want to call it uh but man I’m sorry they do not have to apolog oliz for organizations who welcome them back in with open arms he’s a dedicated Cubs guy from the rickets like yeah you were pocketing [ __ ] Millions off that guy sorry appreciate excuse my language again uh if kab Brian Hayes could Le hit close League average I’d be down look krien Hayes would be a fun Edition uh let’s look at cab Brien Hayes someone who I think would benefit off of just not having that awful hitting coach that they had last year he struggled man he was really bad last year I know he didn’t hit the ball hard at all he was struggling he was kind of deal with some injuries he was just kind of all over the place but he is an excellent I mean excellent defensive player uh he is one of the best defensive third baseman I’ve ever seen in my life so uh you know yeah he was the worst hitter in sport last year he was awful but he’s still young there’s you know is could he hit better at Yankee Stadium let’s see if that’s like there’s any truth to that um I’m not like against grien Hayes like I it’s a byow like I wouldn’t be like oh shoot yeah they can’t get gabrian Hayes um he’s sorry guys I uh I think I drank a seltzer water before this it’s just killing me right now he would fit more home runs the last two years at Yankee Stadium it’s good good opposite field power guy there’s a lot of ground balls in this profile it’s a lot of ground balls right he’s gonna have to fix that uh but he’s a good hitter man he’s he’s not a bad hitter not a good hit he’s a decent enough hitter he’s a decent enough baseball player um at what point though does he become the hitter at what point is he with his the back of the baseball card says he is which is a really bad header right I guess that’s a good question to ask um you know I think there’s truth to it I think there’s truth to I think there’s there’s a a case to be made for both arguments he’s not a good enough hitter and you cannot improve his offense and then there’s he’s got the talent he’s been wasted Away by the Pirates they suck at hitting development they ruin everything they touch and the Yankees need to get him so uh yeah there’s a there’s a decent there’s two sides to it I personally air towards the side of you know it’s a big contract decent amount of money on there Yankees uh coming off a back injury maybe something Yankee should explore if he’s performing a little better at the deadline um Luis R rise would be interesting I agree but yeah no I don’t I don’t not in on that not a good enough Defender uh Nate low for first and call it a day uh I like that look Nate Low’s a good player Nate Low’s a good player don’t get me wrong so yeah so paying a boatload of money to wo is edit for the Mets they are still on a playoff team it’s uh December it’s December so I feel like they should be allowed to like play out their off season I think it’s unfair like if I’m going to be like oh the my first basement it’s fine they’re going to get one like I it’d be so like unfair for you like oh yeah they’re going to get one but the Mets they’re not going to get a pitcher they’re not going to do anything like that’d be like biased that’s just me being like a jackass and like I that’s not really my My Vibe that’s not really like what I like doing I think it’s unfair uh and you know these are people Major League organizations you know these are real people who work really hard at what they do um it’s kind of [ __ ] for me to kind of just like sit here in my chair and my uh you know parents house and be like oh yeah you know they’re so stupid so um yeah with that being said uh let’s move on a little bit we’ve got uh Gold’s a good move for first base for a one-year run look can Paul goldi play baseball at an adequate level yes I just we can’t do better than Paul goldm right like we can do better than Paul goldm there’s so many other players uh Luis heel to the Yankees okay uh so I’m going to talk about Luis R heo and you guys are going have to stick with me for a little bit here I’m not so in on Lis Reno look low strikeout rates cool awesome great he still swings and misses a like at a pretty high clip now 2023 uh Luis Reno you can sell me on that hit for a little bit of Pop he’s not a great defensive third baseman not a good defensive second he’s not really good on the dirt he’s not really good in the Outfield either but you know the the player he was in 2023 was a very intriguing one it was one that hit for some power you know these two years he was you know H for some pop worked some walks decent Chase rate good good play discipline if for being honest right you throw at Yankee Stadium you go all right you know the power should get better but then 2024 he like ditched his power and I don’t really know why he did that I don’t know why he did that I don’t know what made him think that was a good idea I don’t know who’s talking to him he’s got to fire his hitting coach he’s got to like straight up I’d fire my hitting coach if I was hea whoever the hell made him do that what the hell are we doing uh because the hitter he was a year ago was pretty freaking good but the hit he is now is like is this guy gonna be good in 2024 and he starts stealing bases like why why didn’t we steal base the year what do we do I don’t know what Luis rifo is but I know that number one 2024 right whiff rate 22.3% that’s good right Striker rate sure but everything else he does not hit the ball hard he doesn’t really pull the ball a ton either does doesn’t Barrel it just G right and yeah his wrist was fried too yeah he got smoked uh so I’m not particularly he’s not even fast either I don’t know how how the hell did he steal so many bases anyways 10 mil Kepler seems high I would do i’ I’d give him $10 million he’s he’s solid he’s a solid player uh so got the pan bomb um he’s a solid player man he’s a solid player he’s a good player he he fits that ballpark very well I don’t understand as the argument from Curry about hot we’re talking about IFA money uh yeah I agree I don’t think it makes it I you ask me I think Jack Curry is just not trying to I don’t think Jack Curry’s going to reveal the reason real reason why the Yankees aren’t signing Christian Walker right now and it’s because of the price tag that Walker is asking for it would be a little bit weird for the like yeah he’s asking for too much which I’ve mentioned before but man the IFA doesn’t doesn’t matter for Sasaki make a great Point I’ve made this point too why would the Roki Sasaki who gave up a chance to probably make $300 million in two years let’s be conservative 100 million or $150 million in two years why would he forgo that to go to Major League Baseball if he cares about money because if he cares about money he would have waited two years he doesn’t care about money that’s why he wanted to come here last year that’s why he wanted to come here this year he doesn’t care about the money he just wants to go to Major League Baseball so that’s um where I think where I think I agree with you I think Jack Curry’s off on that and I also think that intentional I don’t think Jack Curry genuinely believes that the Yankees are doing this with IFA money I think that there is just a gap negotiations and yes it’s probably because Walker wants closer to four years100 million and that’s what he should ask for he should ask for an an amount of money he will not get from a major league team right now he should because then you work from there and you work down so yeah um do you think Max kepin Bren V Donovan go out to they’re both German I hang up and listen uh if you guys don’t get that reference it’s the Giants reference uh you think uh the New York Giants and foot and the San Francisco Giants go out to dinner uh when they comes Town they’re both uh for you know they’re both Giants I’ll hang up and listen it’s so funny uh who do we have I can fill first base and third base void Ben rice uh and that’s probably it that’s the only guy I’d like consider going to right now this is also about uh Ben rice is Ben rice a better first base TJ rumfield defensively probably not but as a first baseman yes yes he’s a better player like rumfield does not hit the ball hard enough he’s not hitting the ball hard enough if he did what he did in 2023 which was like pull the ball in the air a little more I’d be all in that’s not what he’s done though he’s been a little more contact oriented I think he’s got to get back into like trying to get that pulls side power and get the ball out of the yard and and try to crush dingers because if you can do that he’s a big guy’s six5 man he’s he’s got it man he’s he’s got it he’s got it pan said Lamont Wade Jr is available for trade I’ve talked about him I like him as an OBP guy I do want a little more pop at first ideally and you know you knowwe Junior’s a little rough against left-handed pitching but but if it allows you to get second baseman you know I’m all for it I’m all for it uh you know I uh you know I don’t know I I think that you know the first base it’s weird like you want a little more pop but Lan way Jr does have good raw power he can Hammer the ball maybe he’s someone who can improve his raw power at Yankee Stadium too um so yes and Max Kepler did just get signed Jeff pass in report it just now too um rumfield has like three straight glove gold gloves at first base yes better defensive first baseman than Ben rice but um I don’t know I just don’t necessarily view him as a good enough hitter right now and maybe that can change maybe that can change don’t don’t you doesn’t that make us think we should use some of our own guys um you know and look I I think to some extent yeah I think the Yankees like Ben rice and they want to use him because they like Ben rice but uh with that being said you know I would like d to get a little more stability now I don’t want them to overinvestment 19c plus this year a 120 of the Year prior at first base defensively it’s not perfect OA doesn’t love him DRS kind of does but you know as he’s gotten more time there you know he seems to become a little bit of a better Defender uh as for Lamont Wade Jr and what he does well he barrels the ball he hits the ball in the air he has good sweet spot rates he has a decent average good OBP if you lead him I think he could hit 20 home runs at Yankee Stadium I think he could hit 20 home runs at Yankee Stadium I think he’d be a solid player for the Yankees my one concern is his numbers against left-handed pitching which was solid last year but it was in 34 at bats and 43 play appearances guess the year prior you know what he was he was pretty pretty freaking good um against lefties last two years it’s not bad now in his entire career hasn’t been very good uh but if the last two years hold up yeah maybe he can hit against lefties but he’s got a good OBP and that’s really to me what’s very important he hits the ball hard bar rates are there great plate discipline uh low swinging strike rates good hard hit rates he’s someone who I would say uh you know fits the Yankees like a glove um and honestly uh you know if you throw him at the top of your lineup you have a 117 WRC plus 3457 OBP projection probably better power projections right you know if he hits plays 130 games at Yankee Stadium yeah he’ probably put up 20 home runs yeah if you sign Hass on Kim you got a really good defense you got a strong defensive infield uh now I’d prefer them get a better betat at second base than Kim if they got weighed because they wouldn’t get like a thumper but I don’t think that’s really possible so you just kind of like have to do that I assume Kepler takes theiles out of the ring for santand I never consider them santand contenders they’re kind of like the Yankees like it kind of makes sense offensively but yeah and also we have a super chat from Charlie Beaton and Charlie I’m gonna recognize this and then recognize your follow-up question but what do you think the opening day roster will be and what’s your dream starting lineup so first [Applause] [Music] off the godamn [Music] thank you uh and in terms of who I think will be the opening day roster my dream starting lineup that’s a tough um do I have to fact so my dream starting lineup like not being that realistic Carlos kareah is added to the team and they like say [ __ ] it we’ll play Ben r at first like I karea is like might in the perfect addition for this team you go uh CR lead off judge second uh ch third ston four Bellinger five uh you’ve got um I guess Dominguez six Wells seven vulpi eight rice nine that works um I’d put kareah at third vulpi at Short Chisum at second uh rice at first now if price tag doesn’t matter let’s go get Lamont Wade Jr at that point maybe you canl him at Rice trade rice in the deal with Korea uh you have Wade to lead off off and you kind of do some stuff there man that that that would rock um and then in terms of who I think will be who I think is a realistic one not just my dream one but what’s possible what’s real what’s tangible um you know personally I think you could see uh you know I think at first base Lamont Way junor is a realistic option he’s on their radar Lamont Way Jr is on their radar I think Nate Low’s on the radar I think that both those players are realistic gets and are similar profiles I’ve said it I think low is kind of like a super up version of Lamont Way Jr but Lamont Way Jr is no slouch himself uh if you ask me I’d rather pay the price for Lamont Way junor than Nathaniel low if it’s cheap enough uh because then it kind of keeps me flexible to make other trades maybe acire an infielder maybe acquire uh F there VI the free agent Market um or you know could acquire a second basement through the trademark and acquire free agent first basem but if you had Lamont Way Jr if you add you know a Hassan Kim you’ve got a deeper lineup you got really good defense you’ve got an excellent defensive infield uh you’ve got good OBP skills at the top I’d like a little more thump than Kim and Wade uh you know I’m not sure who they could had in the infield maybe it’s Willie Castro maybe it’s uh you know uh a Ramon Rus someone of that sort um but I I would love to or maybe it’s a Brandon Lao right maybe they do Lao and Wade Jr uh I think that’s like a dream realistic optim a cautiously optimistic but sort of realistic way to handle the offseason you get Brandon low Lamont Way Jr you’ve got some OBP and Wade you got judge you get Lao you get ston you get Chisum you get uh you know you kind of could go to Bellinger there or and then you know Dominguez vulpi Wells something of that sort that would work for sure K with the platoon at first they get brandow power-wise I agree brandow is a great get would also love this corner infield oh my gosh Nate low calls kareah right that’s beautiful right there judge got to hit three biggest RBI guy two hole no way I disagree judge is going to get more play appearance at the two spot um and I want him there we lived in a fantasy world yes I agree Jose rir gel Marte would be oh my God right all right you know you right that’s that’s that’s some stuff that makes you think a little bit uh but unfortunately I don’t think either gets moved uh and you know honestly I’d say fortunately for baseball I think it’s good that those guys are gonna be like career guys on their teams uh well Marte didn’t starts care out dibs but he’ll be known as a DI back for the rest of his career do you think we go either first base or second base third base or both I think we go I think we’ll address both I think we’ll I’d be shocked if they didn’t address both I honestly I don’t think you can get away without addressing both that’s where I’m at oh oh somebody asked me I know we’re talking baseball but who do you got Broncos or Chargers um that’s a great question it’s a great question guys um I think my answer is I’m not sure if this game is started yet so I hope I didn’t like I’m not giving my I’m going to check the game started okay so I think the Chargers are a better team I think bonick is a better quarterback than than I think Justin Herbert is a better quarterback than b knck personally uh but I also recognize that the Broncos defense is very good I guess the Chargers defense also very good the Chargers been a little bit of a slump they kind of need um they kind of need to win this game like they need to win this game the Broncos don’t really need to win this game the Chargers desperately need to win this game um I wonder I guess I don’t know I think the Chargers are GNA win though I I think that Justin Herbert’s a better quarterback and he’ll do a job the Broncos yeah I just checked they on 75 they’re they’re on a long drive right now they they’re driving the ball downfield but um I think he a I think the Chargers have a better quarterback and that always matters to me but you know that Chargers defense has been getting torn apart lately I guess because Baker Mayfield ripped him a new one uh Lamar Jackson ripped him a new one uh you know we’ll see if that ends up mattering uh you know if God forbid I mean they just don’t play well the rest of the year I mean I I I like the Chargers I’m a Giants fan but I have nothing against the Chargers little brother roots to the Chargers so you I’m kind of hoping they win because I want my little brother to be happy um you know I don’t not going to R against this team I’m sure that if you know I i’ hope that if the Giants won the Super Bowl he’d prefer them to win the Super bowl over like you know the Chiefs if they play the Chiefs the Giants will never win a Super Bowl with Daniel Jones or you know Tim Bole and Tommy Deo whatever may be football is just kind of like so hard to watch as a Giants fan uh but I think that having a better quarterback matters and that’s why I’m gonna go with the Chargers here but they could lose I’m not really like super I’m not super tapped in on the Broncos roster do you think what do you think we do for another Bullpen armor 2 Tim Hill will come back that’s my prediction and they’ll pick up some non roster invite you’ve never heard of and one of them will be very good do you think we’re better off with belly and Centerfield Dominguez and left field the other way around I think other way around because I think defensively Bellinger better in left kind of forgot when like that whole Bellinger center field thing came out I was like oh yeah this is great because like Bellinger playing center field he’s goingon to boost his defensive value lot stuff I’m like wait a minute forgot Left Field yane Stadium forgot about that yeah they uh they’re probably gonna play bellur left uh they don’t if they add a first baseman if they don’t then I wonder where that’ll be what do you say the top three most probable first baseman are um okay so I’m going to go with two free agents and two and one trade Target I think Nate low I say Nate low because I think Nate low the Yankees match up both the Rangers going to say gonna say Christian Walker because think he’s the most likely expensive free agent and I’ll go Paul goldmit because Jack Curry mentioned it so those are my three picks those are my three picks yeah F you want football being hard to watch I’m a Panthers fan yeah man it’s it’s not it’s not fun fry L is it what do we do with pza uh I think they should have him on the bench this year do you think with W Weaver Williams we have enough case coming out of the bullpen that was the B biggest weakness in our pen last year in my opinion I think they have more swing and miss this year they did last year um I think beer Jack Curry uh talked to Matt Blake on hot stove Matt Blake mentioned beer as someone they think can improve I do think that that’s gonna happen I think that beer is going to be a reliever on this team I also think he induces or coaches enough swing and Miss um you know uh I I’ll also say this right now um and I’m going to check roster resource and we’re going to go to roster resource we could talk about uh the Yankees um the Yankees uh Bullpen so you know cousins lighter Hamilton Weaver Williams breacher is interesting they tend a makes me think that they think he’s good could be wrong Schmid’s gonna be in the rotation you could just like swap plop just like plop him here don’t know why the freak is here beater would be in Gomez’s slot probably although Gomez doesn’t have options I think they’ll trade Gomez and then uh let’s say sign him Hill that’s eight WIS comes back at some point he probably takes one of these guys SP one of these guys probably going get hurt let’s be honest uh could they sign another arm sure they don’t have options on anyone here and they also have to you gotta you know they don’t really have options on anyone here so they have to trade relievers have options on cousins and Hamilton but if they option either of those two without those guys like taking serious steps backs I’d be stunned um I don’t know they could do anything other than add like Tim Hill like reasonably I would love to see them get an and again a non-roster invite guy would be like you know someone who’s not on the 40 man so they don’t need to have a a spot on the roster um and I wonder if breacher is gonna have a role in this team because again they brought him back which I found so interesting he like didn’t pitch last year he was hurt all the time super interesting the Yankees chose to bring him back this like that that’s got to be interesting somebody I want to see how his pitch shapes looked um upon return uh we’re going to go to this we’re going to go to share this tab instead we’re going to look at at Brew bacher’s stuff not what I meant to do there we go uh we’re going to look at vertical movement armide movement whiff rate actually don’t need whiff rate that’s results I think he pitch very well um what do we got player and Pitch type pitch type in player there we go uh do we have miles per hour yes we do so we’re look at uh how breacher pitch because I think he’s interesting because the Yankees brought him back um and I didn’t expect that so uh sinkers Gyros slider curve ball okay everything’s kind of like normal super wide release Point that’s interesting that’s I like that in in a pitcher I like wide release Point guys although it’s a higher arm slot so you know a little weird needs the V to come back up slider like good gyro piece but like is that going to be could be a sweeper guy because this curveball right like could this curveball like could they like manipulate the shape make him a sweeper guy we’ll see he’s got a wide release point he kind of profiles for a sweeper but again we shall see uh moving back to this tab yeah I think he’s a utl guy what do you think we do in our second base situation sorry I kind of joined late it’s all good Brendan um I’m not sure I’m not sure uh I I would assume that like you know Kim’s in play because he exists and they need an infielder I think that the Obscure trade that comes out of nowhere is also always in play for the Yankees so I don’t really know I don’t know what that move is going to be give me one or two realistic moves that they’ll make to that you’ll say they’re better in 24 than going 25 Christian Walker and Tim Hill right you bring in Christian Walker you bring in Tim Hill actually no Christian Walker and Brandon low right because they they don’t get a second baseman and I’m like I’m not gonna call them good like I’m not gonna call them like that good right uh yeah so I like that’s just kind of like my opinion on the situation um I’d say you could do Brandon low and like Carlos Santana and that could work right that’s probably like that’s $16 million or I mean the problem is everyone’s the first Bas are asking for a lot um that second base Market isn’t great either Nate low and Willie Castro I’d also be like H you know what they’re like a good team they’re not you know Dom I don’t know if I’d say they’re better than 24 but you know I’d feel like H you know it’s good team um projected standings this is what I also want to look at so projected standings wise right Yankees kind of like cramped in here with like this mid like the good not dominant NL teams uh and if you look at wins about replacement team War again Yankees very good here very good but you know other teams are obviously like the orol are like right behind them in that regard um and again offensively pitching wise like Yankees good offensively good they’re just not the best at either um what type of relever could they get for oswal because they clearly don’t trust him I don’t know uh I I really don’t what’s up chat what’s up John Bloom how hope you’re doing well man hope you’re doing well are we in for Rebound year for Hampton if so I hope so I really like him I do too man he’s he’s good he’s he’s got good stuff what you gonna do with de los Santos y de los Santos is also interesting so I don’t know if you guys are aware of this y y delosantos was added I think onto the 40 man roster um and something he did so he improved dramatically in the second half he is someone who could pop next year uh let’s look at his Triple A numbers right actually this might be a fun article topic might have to might have to like credit you on this one Graham because I remember looking at this at the end of the season being like huh that’s something why is this not loading um we’re also load up something else which is important uh y Santos yes uh type and uh player and month split all years yep okay uh let’s hope that this load there we go so look at his last look at look oh that’s his Major League season I’m looking for his minor league numbers sorry that this is taking so so long but I did I can’t believe that I’m this enticed by like Yuri delos Santos but like live you got to live with me you gota live with me on this one guys um gotta wait for this to load man letting that load in like a side screen while I load this stuff up um because he he being of course um total pitch parameters I want what am I looking for cuz like sometimes like it’s like uh you’re looking for it in a specific month um can’t find it can’t find it but that’s okay that I can’t find it oh no I found it okay so yo Santos in the second half of the 20 uh 24 season put up a a lot he was a lot better in the second half is kind of the point here uh just tring to look at the strike because like this this is the problem with fan graphs sometimes it can be extremely slow uh and that’s fine like slows websites you know I know they’re that it’s a it’s a there’s a lot of data on this site so it’s really hard to load it up but can be frustrating when you’re trying to stream you know that’s really it um but we’ll see uh so um Whatchamacallit um I’m just waiting for this to load I apologize it’s taking so long I’m gonna answer some question in the meantime would you rather an outfielder for a Oney year rental or go after Tucker next year or get a first base rental and Go Active lad next year because I believe we can we we can be flexible um I wouldn’t rule out multi-year options in the hopes of getting Kyle Tucker but what I would do is yeah I would avoid long-term commitment just because I don’t think long term commitments at first base really work out the way you hope they will uh long these long-term deals at first base always kind of suck um so you know it’s not really about Tucker more so about like how first basement age uh and then I don’t think Korea is completely unrealistic either uh I I I don’t uh I don’t think we talk about Byron buckton he’d be sick but I I think that he’s so injury-prone and he’s so Prov provenly injury prone that like I’m kind of against it at this point not like I don’t know maybe you get nothing for him maybe trade nothing for him I’d be fine with it but yeah sign tasar Hernandez Bell J first I wouldn’t do that personally I personally would not do that at all um ah no I would no for tasa I’m gonna rethink that one depends on the money tasa is a good player uh I just I hate Belling first base I’m not gonna lie yeah I mean he was still it was still a rough contract towards the end but yeah I agree it was a productive contract because we won the World Series we do not lose draft picks if we sign hon Kim also for delosantos we’re finally like gonna be able to talk about this in the second half look at how good he was look at that Striker rate 30 .4% strikeout rate 2.19 a 4.3% walk rate what happened here what happened in the second half that’s kind of what I wanted to display to you guys if you look at second half stats so we just gota select a random date that’s like after that yeah there we go game date uh so player name um he used his slider uh a lot more in the second half he became comfortable throwing that slider um so uh yeah he got a lot more comfortable throwing his slider it’s it’s a devastating pitch too it’s a wide release slot um his woba his whiff rate they were really freaking good um look at this like 42% whiff rate 211 W it’s a nasty pitch it’s a really good pitch now the Sinker got used a little less in the second half became more of a secondary pitch I guess the best way to put it um kind a secondary it just kind of like wasn’t just used 70% of the time like he was before um but yeah I don’t know um personally I I think that uh you know this kind of player Yu delosantos can have a lot of success in the Yankee organization because it’s a good vo Sinker it’s a good slider and that profile always works for the Ines and it’s a good shape on the Sinker too good arms side run low arm saw all that stuff Matt carp I think he retired if not Teo profar I would like profar too if Bellinger could why can’t Bellinger if Carpenter did I think Bellinger is completely capable of having one we actually let me show you this thread um let pull up this thread um so uh you know uh let me let me hold on give me one second um uh let me see um we’re gonna pull up where’s this thread where is this thread where is this thread there we go okay share this tab instead all right so um I decided to look at um I decided to put together this thread um about Cody Bellinger like what Cody Bellinger did now people like pulling up uh Savant screenshots and Bellinger Savant screenshot is terrible uh but like let’s let’s do a thought experiment here who is this player on the left versus this player on the right now obviously that spoils it I’m sorry about that we’re just G to scroll there we go uh uh but clearly the player on the left has more red circles and has a better xba similar X better hard hit rates than the player on the right and he you know whiffs less he chases less he strikes out less you know he’s a better Defender right like any reasonable thought would tell you the player on the left is better than the player on the right because of you know look at all the red circles all that stuff but in reality play on the left is Alex rugo the play on the right is Jose Altuve right so what does that mean why is it important why and this was their 2023 Savant bubbles um to kind of show that you know verdugo’s red bubbles didn’t really matter his his year wasn’t really great Altuve was very good he still put up a 127 WRC plus pulling the ball in the air allows you to not really hit the ball that hard and still hit home run so let’s compare Cody Bellinger and Jose Altuve I’m gonna open this page in a new tab we’re going to share this screen instead we’re going to zoom in a little bit what are any of these metrics this is exit velocity this from the 2024 season this is uh they 90th per exit velocity this is their bear rate this is their damage rate expected base average on contact these their pulled Fly ball rates and these are their whiff rates so Alum do a little more damage on contact slightly higher perro rate better X wakon xon just damage slightly lower exit vo but again just a little more damage but Bellinger pulls the ball a little bit more in the has more pulled fly balls and that’s because or he has a higher pulled Fly ball percentage they have the same amount of pulled fly balls that’s because altu played a little more that’s because altu doesn’t hit the ball in the air as much as Bellinger does um and then similar whiff rates so why does that matter you know these are similar hitters in in a lot of respects in terms of their 202 Four Seasons and yet there is a huge discrepancy in performance right you know uh Altuve had 12 127 WRC plus and hit 20 home runs Bellinger 18 home runs 109 WRC plus something that Bellinger did this year was he pulled the ball a lot more in the air uh and Wrigley Fields not great for that so you know as I detailed here pulled fly balls from left-handed batters in Yankee Stadium you know it’s the highest woba for any ballpark with pulled fly balls from left-handed batters at 1.37 regle field the third worst among active ballparks at 7 82 um and then if you look at these numbers here B had 700 Ops at home 399 Slug and I decided to figure out what would that slug I know I said Ops I meant to say sling percentage I forgot what his slugging percentage at home would be if you use uh expected home runs right overlay his home spray chart over Yankee stadium look you got so many home runs here you lose these two you gain a bunch here um he would have had five more home runs he would turn two doubles into home runs a triple into a home run and four outs into home runs now I assume that these two that didn’t go out would be outs I didn’t want to change them to singles or doubles I just changed them to outs I think they’d be out to the Yankee Stadium anyways um he would have gone from a 399 slug to a 452 if he played uh at Yankee Stadium as his home ballpark so if you increase a guy’s slug at a home ballpark from 399 to 452 that’s a dramatic Improvement in offensive production um there’s a reason why steer projects him for 112 WRC plus and for 23 home runs I think Bellinger can take a serious leap at Yankee Stadium and I uh stand by that honestly I do do you have any Yankees jerseys I have a Bernie Williams jersey I I wonder if that’s like interesting that Los yeah I think that Los Ash just so stupid why is the Los there why is the Los like why is it like different you know what I mean it should have been so uh you know yeah I don’t know it’s so stupid it’s so dumb I thought they could have labeled it a lot differently they didn’t it’s whatever concern we don’t have a lead off hitter I’ll be concerned if it’s March 1st and we don’t or if lot of important players fly off the board and don’t so yeah there’s a Jonathan holder Jersey I love a Jonathan hter Jersey that’s cool have an A-Rod sign ball I have an A-Rod Jersey but I don’t wear it anymore because it was like my first jersey it’s like extremely small it’s a baby Jersey but it was fun I loved it so much uh my first jersey ever um so yeah what’s more curse 22 or Yankees left field that’s a great question I’d say Yankees left field Yankees left field s say Ryan has an ikf Jersey no no shot have I no nope nope nope and nope nope nope nope um anyhoo so you know I mean overall I’m really excited about like where this team’s going in 2024 five because they’ve made some additions but you know Le my C anymore signed Ball by Drew Thor but then he got traded yeah it’s got to suck man I was a Drew Thorp guy then he got traded I love Drew Thorp uh let’s have 2008 off seon signed Burns 2 I’d love that uh if money didn’t matter uh but unfortunately yeah Money Matters ikf should have been an All-Star last season yeah he rocked still so some concerned this is a fair point the lack of 120 to 125 WRC plus hitters but I guess you can’t know who’s gonna be a 125 to 12 120 to 125 WRC plus hitter until the season starts um projections matter projections always matter uh that that could change like this right and also like kind of let me give an example here [Music] um let’s say they got uh is Nate low on here where are you Nate low let’s think out Nate low 120 WRC plus is is he qualifying as that guy because I wouldn’t consider Nate low like a like a like the kind of player where like I change the ceiling of a team based on acquiring Nate low if that makes sense uh is Lamont Way Jr on here where are we Lamont way junr I know you’re on here Lamont Way Junior where are we where is Longway J G just go to first base [ __ ] that excuse my language um nope did not mean to press Billy cook no one has ever gone man I need Bill Billy cook at first basic the Yankees uh Lamont Way junor 117 WRC plus if that projection which it probably would improve at Yankee St because the home ballpark shift and you know San Francisco bad for lefties all that stuff if he goes up to 120 is he that like does it change your perception of the team which is why I only say the projections for like for that 12125 WRC plus range all positions y KES where are we uh yeah so like that four-point projection is that like a killer for me no but I do agree there’s not enough like all right we have good hitters everywhere um I also disagree with some projections here like like wow Pro Bas po [ __ ] R um I I don’t I don’t agree that Brandon LA’s like a one set 16w I I think it’s a little bit higher I think he’s got a little more juice in the bat than that like I think um you know glaber’s got a little more juice in the mat than this I think you know like I don’t think Miguel varus is a 104 WRC plus hitter I think Luis and hea’s running a 106 next year um yeah the OBP the OBP projections are a little concerning for sure uh you look at again little B yeah you know I I I would say it’s fair like is vulpi really a pro jeed like is he really a baseline 101 WRC plus hitter yeah I would agree that’s like super optimistic right so um yeah uh but yeah these Ops right like it’s you want has the third highest projected op on this team even that is optimistic like that’s not happening uh but Bellinger’s OBP being low is kind of interesting I they they expect the batting average drop for him and the bat pip drop for him at Y St but a power increase for him I think Wells OBP will be higher than this I I I believe in Austin Wells uh but a catcher so you know a little bit weird there this is where like Yan Diaz would help 365 uh you know Nate low would help Nate low where are we Nate low where where’s Nate low 349 right there right I guess they do need OBP I guess they need OBP maybe a little more they need some pop maybe that’s a fair point right maybe that’s a fair point um let’s see Short Stops where’s H Kim H Kim where are we remember n goodam was the one I liked anyways uh H Kim 337 if they get like H Kim and Nate low right uh even lont way Jor at that point even though he’s kind of a worse Defender than L which is why I like way 357 that’s a nice projection right uh you know Wade and I think Wade and Kim would help your OBP problems you got a good amount of slug it’s a good amount of lineup diversity got OBP and slug I think they kind of need OBP right now I think maybe I’m see I this is I I get it but like you also want you kind of want both both you want hitters who can do both you want hit you want you want to have like guys who play different roles so yeah gold to the Yankees tonight I hope not I really freaking hope they don’t punch on the first base market right now I really hope that doesn’t happen right now that should not happen right now so um yeah uh with that being said though OB or slug we need either or we need a 35 ideally you could get like what would be ideal is like you get a guy who can hit for power you get a guy who has a crazy high OBP again lont we Jr that would rock lethaniel L rock is there anyone who’s gonna hit here their base who’s gonna really hit here right like who the hell can you pick up like Al bow is not happening he’s gonna cost so much because the freaking uh the angel angels the Phillies are [ __ ] excuse my French um guess the Minnesota Twins like they’re ejections are really cast aren’t great but like I kind of think that’s you know stupid I I like him I still like him a lot there is some swinging Miss there I think think think that’s a fair concern um and there’s no one else that like oh man we like Ryan Jeffers is Cool N aren’t getting Ryan Jeffers they aren’t getting Ryan Jeffers right that’s not happening sh have said he’s fun they could trade him he’s like on the list of players that like was mentioned that could be traded but like they’re not right like can’t catch I guess could he play first are we really gonna do this so he can play like am I really gonna say hey go get Ryan Jeffers we can play first like that’s yeah Lars Newar would be a good fit for the Yankees right if you could get Lars Newar I just don’t know what he’s gonna cost like you got LS Nar and then you got like a and you got like a like a like a second baseman like like yeah that would work just don’t know who that’d be there just so many question marks man like teams that have yeah he fell off in the second half they there’s not a lot of teams like a surplus of bats that have surplus of infield bats like second or third kind of feels like no one has a second or third baseman that can hit yeah that’s kind of a concern again ramono rius stands out to me as like a guy who just kind of like does enough offensively where like I’d love him uh you know he’s a good enough Defender too he’s a fun player he’s kind of like stuck behind it Ramona Rus is probably the guy where I’m like yeah you know this actually makes sense right 115 WRC plus decent xoba ballpark sucks for him um better Defender at second and third makes sense right you know arms kind of you know horse crap uh range he’s a really good range guy that just tells me he’s a second baseman um and if you got you know Rus and he can you know he provides a little more like kind of everything just like provides hit I guess he just hits um and you got you know C Reds what happen oh the Cincinnati Reds isn’t their problem offense though was their whole Spiel that they can’t hit I know Spencer steer is Spencer steer is available but they’re like they would be pitching I I don’t really know if the Yankees and reds match up look if they trade Spencer steer you know I would like Spencer steer but like where’s he gonna play he’s not a very good Defender anywhere um I guess he could play all over the diamond and like he’s a good athlete that kind of stuff but like guys it’s a little rough right let’s look at uh can’t play second can’t really play Third definitely can’t play short can’t play The Outfield he’s decent at first but he’s not great it’s like eh right maybe he’s more of a second base he can’t really play first though is he really a good enough hitter to play first like how do you how comfortable do you guys feel with Spencer steel playing first for the Yankees he’s a good player I just don’t how comfortable you feel with him playing first first base there’s there’s good OBP here right you know if you import steer onto the roster uh oh oh oh you can’t see that’s my bad not a great defender anywhere really that’s kind of the problem uh for shantan Derek has he uh I guess what happens you just see somebody some some pit some hitters you just see enough pitches out of Zone that like it works so um yeah uh I don’t know I don’t know I I I like steer as a hitter I don’t like him as a Defender and that’s for me to be like I don’t know you know uh if he played second for the Yankees and he was a DEC decent second baseman I mean he’s a good athlete could they teach him how could he play second base could he hold like does he not play second because they can’t play him at second maybe that’s like his natur maybe that’s where he should be playing because if they played Spencer steer at second how the hell does he have a 23 how the hell did this happen anywh who you know if he can you know be and the problem is also like the Home Run uh swing does not play here it’s heavy pull swing does not play here at all uh but if the swung swing played here let’s let’s play you know if his swing played here that game um man it’s just really hard for me to imagine that he’s a good defensive player anywhere outside the second base maybe maybe second because a good base run as someone mentioned if you play him at second and you’ve got you know uh you you import you know a a uh again you you got like a but the thing is if you trade for Spencer steer what are you trading for Spencer steer what the hell are the Reds going to take from the Yankees what do the Yankees have that the Reds need that’s kind of the other tough part of it so you know overall it’s just hard to find fits it’s hard to find ja here bu second base that’d be hilarious um that’d be so funny man that’d be like that’d be like that’d be I’d love to see the reaction from the fans um like her would be fun Kim would be fun but you need a bat H yeah I think Yan Diaz makes sense too it’s just like the infield is such a headache who the hell can they get even the lit like Willie Castro works if you get a big time bat at first doesn’t work if you don’t get a big time bat at first right because then you’re like getting right you’re not really getting better right you’re you’re kind of in a weird spot there at third you know God I wish we sign mat Chapman and also I wish Alec bow that it cost you know freaking you know Mason Miller that’d be nice uh what do you think Nate low he’s a good player nothing more than that he’s a good player like he’s he help he’s good helps right he’s good right so [ __ ] all the mediocre type talk we need two Savages this Market kind of sucks for position players so I I hate to break this one to you man uh it’s it’s gonna be rough it’s gonna be rough it’s gonna be rough yeah this sucks man Drop 40 million for Gaber and Walker like I guess Gaber helps but like he’s so bad defensively no I to want bow like as a player like he does kind of make sense for the Yankees you know he provides a little bit of like some just hit like he can hit a little bit you know decent OBP 331 you’ll take it right you know projected OBP um and then if you got a first baseman you know you get traded for like you signed like any you know you trade for anyone here really signed like a Christian Walker even hey you’ve got your UB P you got some sluggy you got a good lineup you got a deep lineup that’s great uh but that’s not gonna happen is it um bone would milk in the Bronx maybe it was pretty good last year melt in Philly this past year melts in postseason is a little different um we get rid we got no we do not have to do that I’m not trading heiler bone that’s that’s a little much but you know I’ll see yeah Michael Massie is interesting uh I just think they might I realized this like Midstream they they might just move India to thirdd or like Massi thirdd right like wouldn’t that wouldn’t they do that right would they do that yeah um yeah that short stop like I’m trying to look at Short Stops to convert to second base ah it’s rough there too man it’s rough there too there’s not there’s not a great market for hitting probably yeah they they think he’s way better I don’t know if they think he’s way better than he actually is or if they’re just like yeah is that India dude if it’s real that’s so funny man I cannot imagine him playing Left Field I’m sorry I cannot imagine throwing him out there if bashit was available yeah I’d throw at second yeah for sure if the price is right yeah I mean he’s a good player I think he’s a good player that’s that’s my opinion on him uh but I don’t think he’s available I don’t think the blue be wise to trade him I don’t think they’re going to trade him trade him now just now like where his value is low wait till the wait till the deadline if you’re not good then decide all right we’ve got to move off him let’s go trade him um also would like to mention uh if they value bow that high they should get just keep him yeah I agree I think they’re just chopping him around and just like what can we get from Alec Bowman asking for a lot but either a circle back and go all right we’ll take this deal or they’re gonna be like all right yeah we don’t think he’s good or we think he’s good we’re not gonna do that I don’t know I don’t know what they’re going to do with him I that’s he’s such a weird player that’s such a weird team and situation and roster I have no [ __ ] clue what they’re gonna do trout uh I would love trout uh but I don’t think he’s going to happen uh unfortunately about to plan the show yeah that’ be that would rock it just we know it’s not gonna happen um man I cannot find anyone who can play the infield who like who play second or third it’s really like Brandon low right or like bring Gaber back but Gaber can’t play defense ah this sucks this is so not fun um Brett batty [ __ ] no man I don’t want Brett batty they said Harper is going back to the Outfield there’s no way they said that that’s true is that true is it really are they actually moving Brandon Bryce Harper back to the Outfield there’s no way that’s true I don’t know I you read it early this morning I don’t think that’s happening I’m just trying to I couldn’t find it I thought we should have gotten Hornet from the cubs too unfortunately uh I don’t think they’re gonna move him no no no look at his numbers K it was really rough um let’s trade for Harper that would be fun unfortunately can’t I so we go with Kim at second yeah it’d be fun uh I just maybe it’s like Kim and low maybe that works I don’t know we’ll see anyways we’re nearing the two-hour Mark probably gon to wrap things up here I really appreciate you guys tuning in and checking uh out the channel again and you know sticking with me for two freaking hours is crazy um appreciate you guys a ton I’m gonna wrap things up here J second actually no wait excuse me I’m gonna take questions and then I’m going to wrap it up so send in your last wave of questions and then I’m going wrap it up from there but let’s send in the way first because I don’t want to like end it without giving you guys that last call uh yeah it’s at 87 now I thought it was like oh yeah maybe you could take you know maybe you could take on that salary and trade nothing for him but yeah unfortunately doesn’t really work um I would love kareah at third I would love Kore I don’t know if it’s gonna happen but I would love it bregman plus Nate low would be awesome he’d be like the best team in the a by country mile Co for trout right H man that was some MLB the Show stuff right there we trade Trent who’s back back up center field for cheap I don’t know if he Canna get anyone cheaper than $5 million to be fair what’s your guess second third and first I haven’t even linked anyone in the middle infield which is why I’m like I don’t know what they’re gonna do I think they’re kind of like what the [ __ ] do we do um I don’t think they’re gonna get bregman I think they’ll get low at first is my pick he could want to he could publicly say that I don’t I think he’d go wherever I mean he’d go wherever he’s traded to I think he has a no trade option but I think they’re a team he’d accept a trade too um and then for second man I don’t know I don’t know don’t want Luis red heo I don’t I I’ll cry if we get Lu heo not in a good way um could like Bryson stop be on the move like I wouldn’t like that either but like God man it’s Bleak it’s freaking Bleak dude it’s Bleak um Kim is probably like one of the best options yannias cannot play Third Base not for his life he cannot play third base for his life folks he cannot um Reno sucks I’m sorry Reno sucks guess Hunter Reno is also not very good but that’s different you know I said Edward julan I’m gonna stick to that I think Edward Julian will be the Yankee I I like I think it just kind of makes sense like Edward Julian kind of has a swing for Yankee Stadium he swung and miss a little more this year than he should have but you know I I think he’s a good hitter yeah you know what I think I’m tying my he’s not a good Defender though ah ah he’s such a bad defensive second basan oh man you know what I mean like shoot he’s also bad against lefties right is he bad against because like if he can’t hit lefties right and he can’t play def yeah he can’t wow yeah no he’s not gonna be the Yankee second baseman he can’t do two things that are like things the Yankees like would like to have there gosh I mean you know Curtis me’s not Richie palasio would make sense for the Yankees like from the standpoint of he’s got like the OBP skills but and he played second he was pretty solid out there he’s a good athlete good kid instead you know Richie Palos like is someone who like I liked last year I’m very sad that we didn’t get him when like you know he was available uh but there are a couple things that aren’t great barel rate went down the Rays didn’t help him hit harder uh and I don’t know if that swing plays does That Swing play here as he an Oppo guy Rich basos what do you do I’m looking up his baseball page share this tab uh I know the Ops not great but how does the bat play aie Stadium you know what it plays decently he just doesn’t hit any home runs and that’s and I don’t think he hits lefties either splits um he no he actually hits lefties better than he hits righties what is Richie Palos man what the hell is this guy this might be realistic we’ll see and I think they would trade him to an AI but I don’t think they care I think they’ get the best package you can take is Blanco worse Defender than glaber yeah he’s really rough out there El might be a better hitter yeah I don’t know if there’s an obvious get either uh should have stop and get that this would be fun but also still doesn’t solve second right that’s kind of the issue uh like look at this list of projected hitters and you’re like oh my God none of these guys are available or fit this team at all like gber fits I I wonder if do we think gaver is coming back no they’re not they’re not bringing him back um Aman Grisham no again Third Base God it’s Bleak God it’s Bleak no I’m not falling for Brett batty I’m not going for Addison Barger Joey Ortiz isn’t getting moved ramono Rus is still like a solid fit yeah I don’t know Max m is not getting moved if he does sure sure like when I take Max Mony of course but is he getting moved no the Dodgers aren’t stupid they’re not going to trade him Jose Miranda can’t play the infield really he plays first and that’s basically it you can’t handle third guess he no he can’t really handle third definitely can’t play short not sure he gets moved even Willie Castro just might be like the option right Willie Castro just might be the option I don’t know we’re going to get back at this tomorrow I will continue to look for options um should really sign bregman I think they would have if they didn’t sign I think they would if they like wasn’t a long-term deal but he’s going to get a long-term deal if he get a short-term deal he’s going back to Asos so um yeah with that being said though thank you guys so much for tuning in appreciate you all for checking in checking out fire shine Yanks you know you guys check us out on Instagram Tik Tok Twitter Facebook and of course it’s YouTube page bring back Josh Smith are the Rangers gonna trade him if they trade him yeah I would take Josh Smith back right like you know he kind of plays at Yankee Stadium he’s got a good glove right you know good glove guy good hashtag good glove dudes right um but Royce Lewis might play 50 games next year but he loves Jeter yeah unfortunately he’s hurt all the time uh but yeah thank you hey you follow me ear appreciate you Brennan um appreciate you all for tuning in you guys check us out at fire
