scary opponent for a comeback spot like that because they are the best mid major Michigan has faced this year they are better than some high Majors michigans face this year they’re better than Virginia Tech uh they are 137th on kenpom they’re eight and4 this year now they don’t have any major wins to their name they went on the road at UCF lost by seven on the road at a good Penn State team lost by just 13 scored 89 points in that game couldn’t get a stop they’ taken care of business against pretty much all the bad opponents they have played played so this is a team that has my attention great three-point shooting team 38% on the year that’s 26th in the country they are a top 60 offense in college basketball the big thing is that they can’t get a stop I do wonder where this Michigan team’s head will be at in this game Dion what are you expecting mentally from the Wolverines here honestly I think they’re gon to be fine um I believe in Dusty may as a coach and I believe in this group and the way they play for him um the style of play they have is very transferable they play really hard um Danny will flag golden pick and roll like I’m not sure there’s pro teams that can guard that let alone Purdue for it Wayne Uh I love Rod Gale I mean you you can go down the list like I I I just think this team as a whole is is a really good team they just got Jeremiah Fierce um it happens I I I I don’t I don’t look too deeply into that game I don’t think they will either Dy Mayfield’s like a guy that has complete control over his group and he’s going to get them to move on to the next it’s possible I worry about this point you said you love Rod Gil what do you love about Rody Gil I loved Rody Gil at Ohio State um this is a bizarre bizarre take of mine I love the oversized small forward Carter Elliots of the world where it’s like but they also like just don’t jack up seven threes in their men’s league they just take the smaller guy to the post a lot and and Rod Gil to me like is he is that like I it doesn’t make sense to me how how he scores and then every game I watch he has like 10 to 15 points yeah he plays bad and ends up with 15 it’s a conundrum but he he loves to shoot threes and Miss threes shoot like 20 something percent from three 0 for five last game so yeah well 0 for five like that’s still better than what C does in his men’s league better than 0 for 11 sure um yeah so I I’ll lay out all my concerns and then I’ll get to why I think Michigan’s fine in this game but my concerns are this I don’t trust this team mentally at all I talked about how something feels really off with this team right now um I just worried this is like a you let the Oklahoma game linger game like you show up and you’re like ah it’s Purdue Fort Wayne we’re fine we’ll get one back and then all you look up Purdue Fort Wayne’s making threes like they always to Purdue Fort Wayne is a great shooting team so I uh I’m concerned about that Michigan’s a very bad shooting team very streaky shooting team they’ve been shooting they have more games this year where they make less than 30% from threes than they do games ahead of that shout out to Dylan Burkhart from um Hoops for that stat so that’s a very concerning number um but I guess to flip it you’ve got to be able to at least hang a little bit with Michigan inside here and I don’t see how Purdue Fort Wayne does that they are not an imposing team whatsoever they’re not a big team in fact average height for Purdue Fort Wayne they are the third smallest team in the country they don’t have a player bigger than 69 their two-point percentage defense is 306th in college basketball Michigan has the number one three-point or two-point offense in college basketball and then maybe more important than that Purdue Fort Wayne’s a horrible rebounding team as you would expect with a team that’s small they are outside the two top 280 in both offensive and defensive rebounding so to me it’s one of those games where if Purdue for Wayne is making shots probably keeps it close enough but they’re going to give up so much in the paint in this game so much at the rim and Danny wolf and Vlad golden have just been so good lately that it’s hard to uh to think that they have much of a chance to actually win the game yeah I agree I agree I mean I think I think overall Purdue Fort Wayne like you said is a good mid major but they’re outclassed in this one like you said it’s I don’t know man like I I said it preseason I think this Michigan team’s closer to the top of the Big 10 nothing in that Oklahoma game makes me feel differently I just think we have to start looking at Oklahoma a little differently than we did prior yeah yeah I think that’s tottally Fair um I’m just iffy I’m iffy on Michigan I don’t know I don’t think Arkansas or Oklahoma are that good and they keep blowing leads man like I would bet in this game Michigan’s up like 15 early and then it’s like a four-point game at half and then they might cover in the second half but like there will be a Kill Shot there will be like a 10 run for Purdue Fort Wayne in this game given how they can shoot we’ll see let’s get to predictions three guys did to them I also don’t think most teams in the country have a boogie F have a Jeremiah fearce so I don’t think you’re gonna have to worry about going up against those guys too often in any game that doesn’t include a star guard I think Michigan’s fine yeah uh I think that’s a fair read the the three-point shooting just scares me like it’s hard to be confident in a cover against a team that can just get hot and rattle off three straight threes any time so I’ll be honest I wouldn’t touch this number at 17 I am worried Michigan starts slow and just has a hangover from the Oklahoma loss um but bottom line they should dominate in the paint here like this is one of the least imposing teams flag golden and uh Danny wolf have seen and they’re playing so well right now as a Duo that I think uh Michigan should have zero fear of losing this game maybe just a little fear of not covering and uh we’ll see we’ll be here to recap it next week thanks to Dion for being here thank
