[Music] how’s it going everybody welcome back to the Penguins in five podcast I am the machine TV your host and today we got a few things to break down whether it’s jari coming around the corner the keys to Victory against the Colorado Avalanche tonight or also our lines that are projected based off of what we’ve seen so far in the news today being Monday let’s get right into it as of right now the penguins are only one point out of the wild card spot heading into this tilt with the Avalanche um there’s a good possibility that this is just a little bit of a how do I want to say a a bump up it’s a it’s a good chance for us to keep propelling into the playoff picture uh but we’re going to have to string together a couple more of those four five game maybe more win streaks or even Point streaks if they can uh the first thing I do want to talk about playerwise is that jari the last couple of tilts he seems like he’s been turning the corner since he came back from the AHL during his conditioning stint he had a a very very very underwhelming start to the season and he’s starting to play a little more confident I think that’s the word I’m looking for is he’s playing more confident he’s you know trusting his judgment when he’s in front of the net and he’s going for the things he knows that he can and cannot get to he just looks like he’s playing a more firm game that’s the word I’m going to use today is he looks like he’s playing a more firm game and I really like that I don’t know that I still look to jari as our starter I know Ned’s been a little shaky as of lately but I also am heavy on thinking it has a lot to do with our defenseman but both tendies are part of the issue with allowing The Comebacks so I would say Jar’s looking a lot better and so is Ned defense and this is my next topic here was where the go tending has started to be have been good the demon continue to look a little bit lost like Eric Carlson uh he kind of seems like he’s afraid to push up on the right side and I don’t know why that is that’s maybe my lack of judgment there y’all can completely rip me apart on that that’s perfectly fine um it just seems like the def or I’m sorry whenever he’s coming up the ice he’s being forced to that right side and he looks almost panicked uncomfortable maybe is the word I’m looking for not so much panicked um he looks uncomfortable so I feel like we need to try to force him on that left hand side of the ice but I also so know that it’s not going to be that easy because teams are going to gameplay and he’s got a lot of tape out there to watch to really counteract what Carlson is good at doing and that’s being an offensive defenseman maybe that’s just a hot take on my side but then you also noticed on Saturday Sully reinserted Graves into the lineup on Saturday and I said this in Monday’s podcast was you barely knew Graves was there he had 12 minutes of ice time he had one blocked shot and that was it I’m ready to move on from the graves project I really am I’ve said it before um between Graves and grizzli they’re five versus five full strength goals for and goals against is the worst on the team uh somebody in the subreddit actually placed that out for me because I was asking questions about puu rvy and some different things [Music] and I just I I struggle to see why we keep putting grizzli on but I definitely don’t understand why we keep having Ryan graves in the lineup uh it it blows my mind but at the end of the day su’s going to do what he believes is best to win sadly us fans may not see it the same way I think it’s time we move on from both guys grizzli we can we can healthy scratch him Graves I think we put him on waivers and let someone take him and a salary cuz I’m pretty sure that’s how that works if you drop in the waivers the other team’s going to have to pick it up moving on is tonight’s keys to Victory is the last two games the Pens have stayed very disciplined other than the one Eric Carlson uh tripping that he got called for when we were on the power play uh Saturday night against Toronto so they just need to continue to stay aggressive continue to shoot and stay disciplined keep your sticks on the ice keep them just levelheaded play the game you’re supposed to play it the way you’re supposed to play it and I feel like if they play like they did on that four game win streak kind of like they got back to on Saturday against Toronto I think they could get together a couple another couple win streaks to go like that um number two key to victory for me is utilize the speed get in close and crash the net play the gritty hockey down low when you have a bunting that can get down low and play gritty uh Crosby can sit in down and play gritty he’s got those crazy from the knee tap ends that he always gets when he’s right off the post there’s so many options that the Pens have to score like that excuse me that there’s no reason we should not be throwing pucks on the net and playing that rebound screen the goalie hockey it is it is a very simple concept to grasp that they get away from so often and I truthfully want to see them dive into it more bunting on the power play two line the other night he had a goal uh he definitely needed it I will say that but he was playing his gritty hockey I love the grittiness I love the intenseness and he is just one of those people that people on the other team the defenseman the the goalies the coaches like everyone just hates playing against him and I said this yesterday because he is a nuisance we need our we need our guys to play like a bunch of a bunch of buntings in terms of being nuisances down low uh I think that’ll produce a lot of opportunities um but that’s also my opinion my third key to victory tonight is get a lead and protect it that has been the hardest thing for the Penguins to do all season Toronto’s game was a lot closer than what a 53 looks like or I’m sorry 52 looks like but they kept the lead once they got it in the latter half of the game of the third period you know so what they need to do is as we’ve already said stay disciplined stay out of the box utilize people like bunting down below playing that gritty hockey utilize your speed to break into the zone and and get the lead and protect it you are playing against a dangerous Colorado team that comes from behind quite a bit um and when they do it they do it in convincing fashion so I would love to see the lead get up there and kept you know with uh McKennon and Crosby playing against each other two best friends it’s going to be a good game two of the best to ever do it in my opinion and I know McKennon still got some years to go but he’s solid generational talent I think I think it’ll be a great game I I I see I see it going in favor of the pens either a onepoint or a two-point party but um I definitely see at least a point today potential lineups based off of practices on Monday uh Raquel Crosby rust do malan Cody glass Bunting lizo and pu Arvy hay aari and Bo bili doing the defensive pairings was Pickering Laten Pon Carlson and then Graves and uh grizzli would love to see Shay ivany over Graves and grizzli to be completely honest with you would rather see those guys and then you have your power play units that were playing together were Crosby Laten grizzli Raquel and Hayes power play two was malan Carlson bunting Rusty and glass so those would potentially be what the lines are going to be for the game um we’ll kind of just have to see any news that comes out with thomasino I will say thomasino did take a few rushes uh but he was participating with no contact which means he wasn’t cleared for contact I would assume from the forearm to the face or an elbow to the face on Saturday night Friday night excuse me probably concussion protocol keeping him safe keeping him clean and we don’t want him to be out too long or get him back and have to S him back out again because he’s been very integral to the winds and to the wind streak when we were on it and it does appear that pu Arvy is going to be in the lineup depending you know thomasino being healthy or not happy to not see Neo in the lineup but I I would like to see a different line than the achari line but we’ll see how it plays out we’ll see how it plays out I’m excited to see the game and let me know in the comments whether you’re
