it really is insane how quick life can change and I mean I’m talking significant changes where one moment you think life is heading One Way only for the opposite thing you were expecting to happen say well well well how the turntables which is exactly what seems to be the case with the situations between the Dodgers and Padre’s so if you’re part of the 59% of viewers is not subscribed yet go ahead and hit that button if you enjoy the videos as I know it’s easy to think in hindsight but even in the moment I think it’s 1,00% fair to look at that first round series between those two teams as a World Series decider you could just feel it the intensity throughout every game the tensions at an all-time high you didn’t fully know who was going to win but it really did feel like whoever did was going to win the World Series and well that ended up as the case at least in the reality that the Dodgers won but there was a point in that Series where it seemed completely one-sided from a Padre’s perspective like things were not looking good for the Dodgers Freddy Freeman’s trying a Machado out at second only for the ball to hit him and Ricochet into left field Miguel Roos tries to turn two yet doesn’t get one definitely not the plan there David Peralta drives into the inning completely unravels and then tatis just unloads on a walker be fast ball and in this very moment forget Padre’s fans who were all pumped up I’m willing to bet most Dodger fans in that moment were thinking the worst that this was 2022 all over again the Padre’s were going to win this series and maybe this time even go on to win the World Series but what if I told you the Padre’s wouldn’t score a single run the rest of the series after the tatis Homer that’d be crazy right well that’s exactly what happened the offense just could not do a single thing against Dodger pitching for the final 24 Innings of the series their season ends Dodgers move on and of course win it all in many ways it really did feel like the Padre’s year this year starting in the second half when they became arguably the best team in baseball I mean record-wise they had the best record in baseball in the second half so they really were the best they took care of the Braves like it was nothing had the Dodgers on the ropes and if you for a second believe the Dodgers weren’t worried think again Dodgers players have since admitted the Padres were the toughest team they faced Daniel Hudson said the Padre’s were better than them the whole year Max Muny was so nervous he had trouble eating during that series Dave Roberts saw it as the World Series and I mean hey these guys are human beings fear is okay to have the whole point is facing those fears as long as they don’t show that fear in the moment which they didn’t and that series took a complete 180 in the process and because of these recent reports coming out about the Padre’s you got to wonder if the Dodgers broke them seriously the Padres went from looking to end the Dodgers yet again and maybe win it all to never scoring again and potentially trading their best players something that completely caught me off guard and I mean maybe I’m dumb for getting caught off guard by this but I feel like most people feel the same as I do I don’t know let me know in the comments but the first report I saw of this was the Padre’s entertaining A Dylan cease trade now from what we’ve seen with the pitching market so far this year like with Blake Snell’s contract with the Dodgers Max fredes with the Yankees hell even Luis srino with the freaking A’s the demand is very high for starting pitching so if the Padre’s feel like they can take advantage of this desperation by trading ceas for a big return I guess that’s smart they literally just traded for him not even a year ago so that’s partly why it’s weird but I mean if the opportunity is there while he has just one year left on his contract sure maybe trade them but that hasn’t been it it’s being reported the Padre’s are listening on almost all their veterans and have received inquiries about starter Dylan CE but also infielder Luis arise and Xander Bogarts and those all do make sense at least in certain ways like I said with CE arise another guy who they traded for this year also has just one year left before becoming a free agent so if they feel like they can get a nice package for him why not I guess but with Xander Bogarts it’s for a totally different reason you could see the moment that contract was announced it was going to be a disaster I mean 11 years for a 30-year-old shortstop is insane and it’s always been obvious the Padre’s only gave him $280 million over that many years so they can get someone on the market after Aaron judge and Trey Turner rejected them team owner Peter Siler was sadly sick and on his way out and also another reason I think and most of us see as another reason for this insane amount of money being thrown around giving Manny Machado 11 years and $350 more million at age 30 I mean it was insane and it’s been clear especially with the Xander Bogart’s contract that it would eventually be a disaster but that feeling of regret is happening even quicker than most of us thought Xander still has 9 years and 225 million dollar left on the books zero opt outs so obviously if they trade him they’re going to have to get nothing in return as far as players or prospects their goal would be to get whoever trades for him to take on the rest of the money and that’s not going to be very easy to do I would say again these could be good moves to make but it also really does seem like a potential end of an era or at least an attempt by the Padres to end it to move in a really brand new Direction and start spending less money and I guess you could go back to the WAN sto trade being the real start to that but you know they still have a lot of their guys but if they trade more of them I mean it really does seem like they’re heading in that kind of a direction which of course is not what their fans want to hear and it’s also something that never seemed to be on their mind but I mean from the outside looking in what do we as fans really ever know and according to these reports it really does seem like anybody is on the table I keep seeing stuff about a Fernando tatis J trade and I’m not taking that at all seriously until proven I should otherwise I feel like I’ve seen rumors of this every year and because of this annual rumor I saw something truly horrific I was exposed to this disturbing fan edit of tatis as a Yankee without his dreads I’m sorry but I saw it so now you have to as well but yeah trading tatis makes no sense he’s still so young so good and should be just entering his prime I mean I mean like what more would any team want I mean I’m sure they’d be open to an insane trade where they got some wild return but that can go for literally any player that doesn’t make it any more likely or realistic but to think this Padre’s team when then have the best second half record in all baseball can look a lot different next year while the Dodgers continue to enjoy the fruits of their labor and it doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon the championship adding Blake Snell getting sh back on the mound Etc I mean they had the Dodgers Point Blank ready to kill until the opposite quickly became reality and although nothing’s happened yet as far as any trades you got to wonder if the Dodgers just helped push the Padres in a much Bleaker Direction at least for the near future than anyone would have anticipated just a few months ago and it’ll be really interesting to see what it all leads to let me know your thoughts and thank you for watching
