five-game win streak haven’t lost since Maui going up against Butler who uh has lost four games looking forward to returning home after losing at Marquette um we’ll get in into the nitty-gritty with each of these teams Riley but big picture what are you looking for in this game I’m looking for Yukon to continue to dominate with some of these newcomers particularly terce Reed Jr who is coming off of probably his best game in a Yukon Jersey against Xavier where he finished with oh gosh I just said the stat line now I’m already for getting a hold on 20 points 13 boards four blocks this is a he gets the luxury of going against a butler team that is just absolutely getting destroyed by anybody who’s 610 611 plus with a pulse like you look at how they performed against Wisconsin Nolan winter had 20 points against them the game before they were getting torched by Jackson Mooney uh 610 stretch big at North Dakota State who had 25 against them and a and a win at uh a win in hle it’s not but it’s not just on the interior too they’re also they’re kind of getting gashed all over the court they don’t really have the front line presence to stop bigman but it’s it’s also like a bit of a struggle on the wing too and that’s uh doesn’t really bode well for the Bulldogs when they have when they have to play Liam mcney who’s coming into his own that’s the other Yukon newcomer that I was sort of hinting at there um of course there’s also Alex caraban who had a nice bounce back performance against Xavier too with 20 points like it’s a Yukon team that I’m just expecting to continue to look like one of the best offenses in college hoops um to continue to get to CO’s production out of terce Reed in this breakout campaign and uh yeah get a lot of points from the perimeter as well Yukon has played well I guess four now top 100 teams since um since Maui Xavier being one of them and obiously Butler is going to be another one Butler will be number five I don’t have the stats for the Xavier gam recording this after they beat Xavier but in the first three games they played after which is the wins over Baylor Texas and kaga Yukon lower or I guess lowered its adjusted efficiency rating got better but lowered it by 22 points went from 116.5 at Maui to 94.9 adjusted defense efficiency was holding opponents to 10 percentage points Less in effective field goal percentage holding them they were shooting 52.7% against from three and Maui just 40% in those three games the offense has continued to be good but the defense has has drastically improved against this level competition since Maui that’s not a good news for Butler um because Butler had gotten off to a 7-1 start there was a loss ausp thrown in there but that included wins or Mississippi State SMU Northwestern had gotten off to that 7-1 start because of their offense they have kind of lost that the last four games um three-point shooting has gone a little bit more cold they don’t get much in the paint they are a very primitive oriented team that doesn’t have many good drivers or you know threats in the post but to try to get back on track against this Yukon team to me Riley is a is a pretty tough task yeah I agree it’s it’s probably going to be a fifth loss in a row for the Bulldogs it’s tough to see I mean maybe if you squint hard enough you can talk yourself to Jal Telford and Pierre Brooks having big enough games especially after Yukon gave up a lot of points to both Davon mcnight and Ryan Conwell like I thought Conwell in particular is a big guard sort of like Pierre Brooks is but I don’t know I think I still think Conwell is like a different level of phys physicality than Brooks with his ability to get downhill and mcnight is the same way to where I just don’t think there’s enough Firepower even with I mean even with Butler being a pretty good three-point shooting team whether it’s Kobe King whether it’s Patrick mcaffrey like those guys to me are just still role players and simultaneously were just watching Butler give up like pretty the I keep going back to the Wisconsin game where literally every starter scored in double figures and the in the North Dakota State game where they were getting gashed by back court and the front Court like it’s a it’s a it they’ve been it’s been a like comprehensive defensive meltdown it has been they have been exhaustive in their in abil to to get stops and it doesn’t matter if like you have a couple good guards who can score here and there eventually they’re going to miss shots like you like you said yukon’s ramped up their defensive efficiency and on the same on by that same token you got a big man who’s coming into it Zone you have the the steadiest wing bigwing whatever you want to call cariban in the nation and you have McNeely who is very much looking like he’s living up to the festar pedigree plus solo ball who looks like an NBA player like it’s just too much to stop against an elite offense like this when you’re when you’re not all that great you’re not all that well coached in in late career by late career Thad maada and you just don’t have the horses to keep up you don’t and Yukon is a a tough team to keep up with anyways for for anybody but the way Butler’s playing right now particularly on the defensive end outside the top 100 nationally in adjusted defense efficiency is not not good enough as a result it really shouldn’t be a surprise that Yukon is is favored to win this game by five on the road on kmom there is not an official line yet when there are when there is make sure you check out Invitational and the they performed and this is a great chance uh to do it against a team on the road that may not provide much defensive um push back on you of course is there I was gonna say is there anything Butler can do save like getting hu I mean it’s like getting huge shooting performances out of King and mcaffry like the role players like you know what tord and Brooks are going to give you but is there anything that you think that Butler can do that would that pull off the upset here I know it’s like I know it’s a cliche to to say you know like make shots right you make shots you give your chance to win every game blah blah blah the one thing I will say about Butler is that both games they played against Yukon last year were within single digits neither of them hit double digits when Yukon went to Butler played at anle Field House Butler shot 47% from three in that game you had a couple guys make multiple threes now DJ Davis was on that team and played a big part in that he’s not on Butler anymore we’ve also seen Yukon lose to Great Yukon teams lose to kraton teams that can space the floor and shoot the three well and they just go unconscious Butler is one of those teams that like yes anybody can beat you if they make their shots Butler has shown the ability to consistently make shots at a high rate mhm if they if they Catch Fire yes they can win right and it’s it’s not like grasping at straws to say if they catch fire they can catch fire pretty quick if they have some good Shooters on this team but that’s that’s the only way quite frankly that’s the only way I agree with you I kind of just wanted to ask this so I could share one more stat and and for why because I’m like Butler is surprisingly got to the charity stripe a good bit I know that like again if you look at Pier Brooks’s free Z attempts for his size that’s where I’m like drawing that’s why I kind of Drew the distinction between him and someone like Ryan Conwell he does not really get downhill but as a team they get to the charity stripe a good bit Yukon has won the free throw attempt battle in every game since Maui except Texas Texas is the only team that they played that shot more free throws than them so it’s like even this potential Advantage for Butler it’s like nope Yukon sort of figured out how to how to draw a bunch of fouls since then too um and they’ve been fouling less simultaneously so I I I am with you that it’s like if you get a nuclear game from like three or four guys on Butler maybe they can pull up an upset but anything outside of that I think Yukon rolls I think so and the fact we both think yukon’s Gonna Roll probably means that Butler pulls the upset but no matter what happens we’ll be back on the Channel with a full recap here after the game
