[Music] [Applause] [Music] don’t even know what to say I’ll say this is this is one of those games where you say it’s the greatest game you ever saw as long as your team wins and your team lost let me count the weights first if you want to know how much Jaylen Herz means to the Philadelphia Eagles refer back to this game he left the field just over 5 minutes into the game due to concussion and really the whole thing went into a spiral after that not that they were toast yes Kenny pick it through a touchdown pass he also threw an interception that led to a Washington touchdown and yes saquan Barkley had a 68 yd run to put the Eagles up two touchdowns again but he also struggled to gain yardage and moreover the offensive line struggled to open up the holes that had been gaping in the first quarter as washing there’s Kenny picket and you got to say thanks for the effort Kenny appreciate it he did what he could he came in looked like he knew the plays tried as as best he could but he’s not jayen Herz and he’s never played starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles in a game before and know he’s played for two years as the starter in Pittsburgh but to come in with a play sheet on your wrist and try to do it it’s a tall order especially when you got the division on the line he wasn’t the problem the defense was the problem the defense was the problem and Devonte Smith dropping a ball and saquan Barkley dropping the ball how about that for a problem there’s enough to go around there’s enough yeah but Ruben’s right the defense think about the final score 33 points the defense gave up this is after forcing five turnovers so on the one hand you say great job on that then they give up 33 points this is a team that leads the NFL till today in points allowed and you’re trying to figure out what the heck went wrong today as now Washington is still alive I’m going to go out on a limb and say the Eagles are still going to win the division but it’s still an open proposition right now if you’re the Washington commanders you’re saying to yourself we are still alive at 10 and5 as the Eagles 10 game win streak broken they are now 12 and three and when we uh bring in Barrett Brooks Ron jorski Ruben Frank when you look at this uh Barrett Brooks your thoughts on on this loss it this is one of the the the worst games this far as discipline that I’ve seen discipline and understanding uh what your role is on this team and how you execute Your Role CJ gner Johnson you can’t allow yourself to to come to another team and getting you off the game all right you already had the first time you first you had the first uh uh unsportsman like conduct and then you make a great play and then you turn around and get yourself kicked out the game it was I mean it was totally noticeable when you leave the game because number one you’re the guy that’s supposed to be back there number two your backup is a backup because he is a backup you’ve got to be there you got to shut up sometimes and go out there and play ball it’s not all about you it’s not all about you making sure that they know you’re on the field because I tell you what they go Ved you they they they they went out there they goed you into doing this and what happens you’re out the game and I’m not going to say it’s your fault we lost the game but I really think if you were on that field in that opportunity we it wouldn’t have been as close as it is and we wouldn’t have lost that game Tristan mccom that gave up that that second touchdown this a loss that hurts down the road makes the road tougher to New Orleans a lot tougher but Washington turn turn all over five times and one five times and one statistically that’s a 0% chance of winning in the NFL exactly now yeah a brown eight catches 997 yards in a touchdown 14-point lead twice and lost a 13-point lead in the fourth give up three straight long touchdown drives and to me it raises questions look this defense has been terrific all year during the 10 game winning Street they were they were the best defense in the league what exactly do you have now look they lost sweat to an ankle injury in the second quarter you mentioned CJ’s out of the game let all his teammates down yeah he did uh they didn’t get any pressure today Nolan Smith had the one sack but uh it it does raise some questions about what they have on defense look Jaden Daniels got into a rhythm and he they never were able to get him out of it even with Reed’s interception there so um some questions some big time questions to answer our def what opens up is what do we see down the road if we see another mobile quarterback like Jaylen Daniels I’m worried he made plays outside the pocket in the pocket moving in the pocket plays with his legs that’s the kind of quarterback that’s present problems for this defense right now make them run for four quarters make them go sideline to sideline for four quarters they were gas late in that game that’s the difference by the way as we welcome you to the Eagles postgame live presented by Cure auto insurance Barrett Brooks Ron jorski Ruben Frank Michael Baran the number one seed is all but gone the number one seed is all but toast and there’s a decent chance that the number two seed Philadelphia Eagles will welcome the Washington commanders to lincol Financial Field in the first round of the playoffs three weeks hence or four weeks hence and that’s not a good sign what if I say this though they lost Jaylen Herz the whole thing fell apart after that it’s just you know you got to throw you just got to throw this one out they still had the lead they so pick picket didn’t lose the game he he bad interception but he made some plays enough plays to win the game you you said it right Mike We Lay this one on the defense they just didn’t show up when they were needed boy have to think now we got to face Washington again in the play yeah that’s a little troubling I thought Kenny picket did everything he expect him to do he never hasn’t played in over a year first time he’s played for this team and he put up 26 points and if if saquin catches that one ball in the right flat they win if Devonte catches that one ball that he I you never see him make that drop they win so uh you can’t ask for any more from your backup quarterback right right you’re asking this team to go out there and once you lose your quarterback mean it just goes to show the value of Jaylen HZ we want to talk all about you know what is he doing you know is I mean has he played up yes he that’s what he is this team you know feeds off his ability to go out there the defense they stop running the defense like they usually run against them they crash their ends that’s the way that’s why they making plays on the backside of runs because they didn’t have to respect Kenny P’s ability to go outside and and and make runs outside the backside you run a totally different offense when you have Jaylen Herz in the game and it just goes to show how valuable he is as a player his playmaking ability you know you know Kenny tried to make some play he made some plays going out there and elongating plays when you know when the pocket collaps on him he he might have get 10 yards here but jayen will take it 20 yards all these things come from Jaylen and his ability to go out there be a playmaker more more convential when picket comes in the game you eliminate the rpos you eliminate the quarterback draws you eliminate the major probably half your play of gleaves when jayen left the game so by the way we hope jayen is fine his concussion injury most likely you won’t have him for the Cowboys so it’s possible right why is that well most guys don’t come back in a week from a concussion yeah like like Rick Burke holder said you seen one concussion you’ve seen one concussion they all progress at different rates but most guys miss that first game back yeah we got kind of nervous when we noticed he wasn’t coming back in the game after you know they and they took his helmet so I’m like Ah that’s you know this I believe that they’re better team but they mean this this this Washington team once that once that play happened you saw them start to gain uh emotion out there you know instead of just you know walking out on the field they started trotting out on the field you see them start running to the ball those are all things that come when they when they see the number one guy on the team leave you know things really turned up for them they started doing things they hadn’t done all year so you know blood no blood no blood a vulner right after very right after he left the game saon goes for a 68 touchdown you’re up 14 nothing right with with your backup you’re thinking all right they’re going to blow this team out but yeah Washington did a good job of kind of maintaining her composure and uh you know they they did things to the Eagles defense that Tampa did in in the first half and nobody else has done this year we thought this would be a difficult game anyway then you lose jayen Herz then you lose CJ GJ then you that’s the most daming thing right there you know losing I me and you lost him you lost him over over over something stupid you lost him over him being able to who he is on the field and let somebody else take him out of his game and take him out the game and he’s got a reputation you know he plays on the edge you love his fire his Feist uh but teams know that they can get him get him going and maybe draw penalties and Washington did that they did it does this change right now where you sit with 10 minutes gone since the end of this game a game that they should have won as you said Ruben Devonte makes that catch it’s game over saquan makes the catch against Atlanta it’s game over and we’re talking about a whole different record right now do you feel differently about where they’re going this season Super Bowl or bust not at all not at all a little bit because they got some things to answer on defense I agree with that well I’m going to say this I don’t at all I don’t we lost two key players we lost the best player well the the the number one player on our team we lost our quarterback the likelihood of us doing that that’s man you can’t expect that every single game I don’t doubt their ability to go out there and maintain who they are as a team it was still a physical game but when you lose players like that especially during those times in the game you’re not going to get the same results if we had both of those guys in there totally different game totally Jaws your but yours does not I mean yours yours does change bar is not yours and Ruben it creates doubt when you you know you lose a game it just creates doubt in it I I it created doubt in me I thought we could I figur it’ be a tough game Washington’s getting better but I thought we’d win the football game but how we lost the game with penalties mistakes jumping offside holding penalties I we made a a pleth of mistake you can’t make when you play against good football team so yeah it it you know I’m looking forward to hearing what Nick’s going to have to say about the performance you know they gave up 22 points in the fourth quarter yeah you you have to have questions about the defense after that in the in the third quarter I think Washington had run three plays was about a minute and a half to go three plays nobody scored more than 20 against them since before the buy they scored 22 in one quarter one quarter to me it’s whether or not there is a wedge of uncertainty driven through the team because of a loss like this if you think that they’re going to come back against Dallas with the same Swagger that they’ve displayed through the previous 10 games and the Giants as well and we don’t know if that game’s going to mean anything with regard to positioning as we said probably not at this point unfortunately but but let me bring up something else with regard to Jaylen Herz and I have said this before and I watch Jaden Daniels Run for yardage and slide run for yardage and slide Jaylen Herz runs right down the middle of the field not on the edges and he takes a he takes I know football’s a rough game I know he’s a tough guy I know he can bench press 350 I get all that but to subject yourself to that when you’re going to get slam to the to the turf every time this is the result of it and I would just wonder from all of you whether or not he needs to be wiser we talk about Joel L&B going down on the floor too much it’s the same thing to me he’s got to be a little more careful thought I thought it was a BS BS move for the guy to hit him and not be a penalty number one but as far as you know him being I I I’m not going to say that that play necessarily needs to change how he plays like that I mean I didn’t think it was a a bad slide you know he was going for the first down I I didn’t think it was a bad slide but the late hit and they had just you know I think the the series before threw a flag for you know you know for for hit like that so I mean I I don’t necessarily say he needs to turn down who he is as a player because who he is as a player is why this team loves him why they Crank It Up and why he’s been like we won went through all these games we just won we won him because his you know going out there and being aggressive so I it shouldn’t change but I’m just saying it it’s I I I I would disagree with there Barett I think he’s got to understand his significance on the team he we need him under Center to be a Super Bowl Contender you want to be a world champion you need your best quarterback know very few teams go into Super Bowl and and win with their backup quarterback he needs to be healthy for I take except the Eagles so let me ask you guys this all right so if this if this was a different point if this was a different game if this was playoffs you would love that type of you know you would love that type I think you I got going be more judicious in when you decide you’re going to go for it or not and actually I thought I didn’t I didn’t think the hit was bad when he hit his head in the ground is when I actually thought he had the concussion and you know I’ve had him so I know what I I know what the feeling is like and I know he tried to but when I saw his his eyes and it looked like okay when he stood up and he kind of did a little Lurch a little stagger we’ve we’ve all seen too many of them now on the camera angles now you out on television are absolutely phenomenal and you see close-ups of a guy and you see you see what the doctor SE basically I’m thinking it’s a playoff I’m thinking this from a playoff standpoint that’s what I’m thinking of the game so I thought he to be aggressive I thought this game is a must- win for us and we lost it you know that that that’s what I’m thinking like I I think he has to be more aggressive I think he’s actually gotten better at it yeah I think he’s been more protective of his of his helmet and you know not getting hit in the head just can’t control everything yeah uh let’s take a look at the QB comparison between Jaylen Herz and Kenny picket and Jaden Daniels all right we’re going to go with Kenny picket since uh Jaylen Herz left 5 minutes into the game presented by team Team Toyota and you look at picket 143 yards on 14 of 24 at a touchdown at an interception that led to a commander touchdown 72 rating Jaden Daniels 2439 257 five touchdown passes two picks 99 rating and and this guy is special this guy uh is very heavy on the field he sees the field very well he makes big he runs for for yardage when you think they got him dead to rights and there’s nothing he can do and he Springs out or he gets the ball to a receiver and they get the first down the first downs in the second half were completely different for Washington than in the first half they had a difficult time getting first downs in the first half second half I don’t know how much of this is due to the Eagles defense rubbe but the second half they only missed one third down opportunity yeah I thought the Eagles defense was gassed that’s something you don’t really see um one thing that really hurt the Eagles was those kickoff Bren man’s kickoff God I mean they had great field position for every drive then they started clicking off you know third down conversions and Eagles defense just couldn’t get off the field and you know when when blanket chip had that interception you look at the clock you’re like there’s just there’s still too much time left they’re getting the ball back you got to get seven here uh and they didn’t get seven and and it cost them I thought the tackling reverted to some early season tackling it it was very poor at they G yeah because they were tired all a sudden you know starting to get worn down you’re not wrapping up and you’re diving after people’s legs and missing the tackling reverted back to pre bye yeah I think that’s more like the J the jayen effect you know that Jaylen not keeping the field team on the field longer time offense not being out there as long as they used to be out there on the field that’s to me it stems from the jayen effect you know his ability to go out there control the clock U we didn’t have that in Kenny P Kenny p is just you know an average Quarterback well I’m yeah I’m going say an average Quarterback you know and we we want him to do special things certainly yeah certainly in a position you put him in today he’s an average Quarterback I don’t know what you can expect expect that’s what he was here to do at the end of this game he converted those two fourth Downs absolutely did yes he did and then you know he would have put up two touchdowns if they just caught the ball in him he is he is an average Quarterback I thought he kind of figured some things out as the game went along the interception was terrible I don’t know what he was looking at uh the I’ll tell I’ll tell you exactly what he was looking he thought the linebacker was buzzing out the linebacker fool him he took two steps out you come back inside the linebacker fools what are we saying about him if Devonte catches that pass celebra that was the ball that was absolutely you got to catch it cuz the drives me we know Smitty’s got good hands your hands you got to make that catch back to the kickoff quickly because I don’t want to overlook this the first kickoff of the game shy of the landing Zone that’s that’s Unthinkable and then the second one Sydney Brown is offside which you cannot be and that gave great Dum plays they play dumb football at times yeah can’t beat good teams playing dumb football and that’s why I’m thinking if you are the Eagles you got to be thinking that the the whole thing just fell apart today it was one of those games and um we’ll we’ll just suck it up and take on Dallas next week but we’ll hear from the you don’t think that Ruben doesn’t either but I’m with darrett
