I finally got into the BCA so I’m officially on a 10 ball team now it’s taken a while and part of it was availability for teams part of it was my schedule part of it was just not being able to accommodate too much pool on any given month which is kind of an extension of my schedule I guess but I’m very excited about this because it’s a new format it’s a new league playing in BCA for the first time uh I guess that’s not true when I was a teenager I played in a BCA straight pool league um this might not count and might make for kind of a fun video If you guys just want to hear a story sometime um because it turned out the league was not what it appeared to be uh so let me know if you want to hear that story I don’t want to like derail myself uh Drew style but anyway uh this is the first official time that I’ve been on a BCA team I’m looking forward to building up my Fargo that’s one of the main reasons looking forward to meeting some new people and know outside the APA kind of see what that’s like get a chance to go to Vegas um and play some 10 ball so this is a 10 ball league let’s jump into the match here and a lot of these guys are going to be new to me if you’re not familiar with 10 ball it’s a rotation game it works similarly to nine ball but there is less slop we’ll say um almost no slop actually and less luck involved overall you still have to make contact with the lowest numbered ball there is the option to push after the break so the first inning after the break either player can push um this was kind of an interesting thing throughout the night a lot of the guys who were playing were also new to uh not BCA in general but ten ball and they were asking about the push shots we were clarifying that um it’s a called shot game it’s ball in pocket and so if you were to call you know for example in this case the top right the six ball on the top right and it goes in off the eight it’s still legal um I did not verify if three foul is legal in this but I believe that it is doesn’t come up a lot and jump shots are allowed I think that covers all the main stuff no early 10 that was another thing so I had a few warm-up games this is my first match and the way the format works is you play your team of up to four people plays the other team and there are three matches between three different players each of those matches is two games so I will play two games against Shawn and then I’ll move on to play against somebody else from that same team and I get two games against him so over the course of the night each player gets six total games so I’m just trying to make the slice on this one ball and get out into the center of the table to give myself an option for the two and right away this rail plays a little dead I noticed that um the other thing that I noticed on this night of play is man I forgot how forgiving Valley pockets are uh I think it’s going to be uh kind of a mix kind of a good thing and a bad thing for me because I’ve been playing on diamond TBL so much and I’m getting used to tighter pockets and some of you were letting me know you know my home table could be tightened up a little bit and I’m working on that so I was out yesterday playing on ninef Footers with uh very tight Pockets I don’t know if they were down to four but you know four and four and an eighth or four and a quarter at most and they play tough I did call the two ball there but undercut it it’s just sent it full into the eight um the seven drops but that doesn’t that doesn’t mean anything in this game you still turn over the table but yeah I think it’ll be a mix I think it’ll be good for building confidence I think it’ll be good for being creative because I’m still thinking about specific Al where in the pocket I’m making the ball and you have a lot more options when the pockets are this big and you’ll definitely see it come into play here throughout this match even just this first one here with Shawn Sean makes a really good shot on this two ball clean into the pocket and he’s got enough of the three to just sort of bounce off the short Rail and come up for the four he has to make sure he’s got the right angle on the four he doesn’t I guess even if he crosses the ET line here he can come into the short rail but bridging over the six is going to be a little awkward for him but he can still make this work even coming out just a little bit off the short rail you give yourself a bank shot yeah maybe thinking too much about his position or maybe just the fact that he was bridging over the six kind of got that away from him the five’s partially obscured by the nine but it’s actually not too bad in this case I don’t like the cut on the four because you’re turning the C Ball loose and there is a chance for a scratch here in the top left so I’m going to go safe and just put them behind the five you do have to call Safe uh something I need to check is I don’t think you can play a safe and make a ball pocket safe I think they call that I don’t think that’s an option here um it took me a couple games to get my speed under control in this match by the way the other thing that I was curious for you guys to check this out as I do these BCA match commentary videos my intention is to do each opponent as its own video and he makes a really good attempt at this four ball not far off at all but basically I’ll do the two games against each opponent as their own video so that way it’s it’s more episodic it’s kind of just like digestible quicker little videos You’ll see you know in the duration of the video there on your screen uh that it’ll be a quick one no matter what way it goes because it’s only two games it’s not a race to two just a pinch of draw to make sure that I get tidy on the five you’re coming across table you want an angle on the six ball the worst thing here would be to get straight on the six but honestly because of how big the pockets are even if you get straight on the six you’ll be able to make it work by drawing back to the short rail so I stun across uh kind kind of punch across table and I get pretty straight on the six so just unfortunate but I should be able to rip this back to the short rail by the way just for naming conventions on the pockets I call this top left top right bottom right bottom left yeah and I’m so I actually overcut this and shot the six to the left side of the pocket which sent me into the rail and out with the draw and then across table I catch a bit of a roll here and I end up pretty nice on the eight I want it to be in here but this works out fine now we can just drift across the side pocket comes into play the right side comes into play so basically you just want to play the nine pretty full drift across and just accept a little bit of a cut on the 11 the you know 10 11 in this case the 10 went down on the break and it spots yeah and this works out fine Ryu and I were actually talking about and you Ryu brought up this idea of kind of applying side spin to a shot to maybe play the throw I think I might have just done that on the nine ball without really thinking about it so that’s one game for me on the board and this is our second game so sha can level it out or I can take two games from him and then move on to the next opponent of the night almost scratch in the right side I will say the break shot was pretty different I feel like I’ve got my break shot dialed in on my home table I have not played a lot if any 10 ball on bar tables Diamond tables I think I played for fun six months ago or something but really not a ton of experience with these smaller tables and at this location this is the same location as some of my older APA videos some of those League videos they they have w racks they have plastic racks and later in the night I actually discovered that they do have a template so I tested that out as well but I need to just get some practice time on these tables and figure out a better break cuz I was using my same very center table like basically right on the head strring slightly offset to the right and kind of pop into it and I just wasn’t getting great results so he’s going to push and the idea with the push as in other formats with a push you want to kind of dare your opponent into something usually not recommended to push to an offensive option so he gave me a look at the one the one does go by the six but it’s very thin and I decide to attack this because I’m feeling pretty good and I know that position’s all but guaranteed on the two slightly awkward queuing here between the 10 and the five but just stay still yeah slice that in that one felt good I have to say get some get some whistles from the rail birds for that kind of shot this one’s a little funky cuz the Q ball naturally wants to come back towards the six unless you try to really tighten this up but I remember not feeling very comfortable on this shot and I think I rushed it slightly just probably some adrenaline from popping in that one ball yeah and I I think I get a little greedy see I was trying to kind of get between the three and the six and so overcut the two and Sean’s got a good chance here really just the shape from the four to the five could be a little weird unless you’re comfortable with the 49 and if you get from the three to the four anywhere in here then you should be fine to get clean on the five and from there it’s it’s all lined up so yeah key shot is from the three to the four and these combos are easy enough to make the first ball but this is the problem it’s that next ball he’s a little weird on the two with a bridge you might be able to slice this in but it’s very close to the rail and that’s awkward it’s always going to be awkward unless you spend a lot of time practicing with the bridge I don’t know I don’t know a lot of players who do that but he’s got to slice this in from distance and yeah I think this this is pretty common like bar level play to try to kick at this um and honestly I think overall not a bad decision in general makes a good attempt makes a good hit so pretty favorable pretty favorable role here we can just drift down and this is me looking at that line on the four so yeah the the pocket line kind of goes just into the eight maybe just slightly past the eight and I get into the line of the eight which is just kind of unfortunate here um and you can see you could see the play on the two was fully into the right hand side of the pocket these are huge these are standard Valley you know a 5 in or something and immediately get out of shape so now we’re kicking at the four I decide to go after the 49 I feel confident about my hit on the four and I’ve been I’ve been experimenting with not just a full ball kick but I mean I got pretty close so playing not just a full ball kick but kind of into the side of it he gets left kind of tough I think he has just an edge of the forge just the top edge of it not enough to make it you could try to swerve around it sort of tricky from here and if you hit those full enough it’s going to want to roll through I think I think if you swerve around it you’d be fine you’re at least making good contact but for me it would be hard to judge cuz I don’t play on these tables when I did play here for APA it was in a in a different room in the back room and I got a decent feel for those but I have to admit I always felt kind of cursed coming to this location because I was like ah I’m playing really good I’m going to go like beat up on all these guys and then I would just like my brain would just destroy me I would just fall apart every time was calling it this is this place is a Moose Lodge I was calling it The Curse of the Moose oh he had enough of it to make it maybe a little swerve that’s a good shot put his body into it can’t avoid the 10 here so I think you just play full into it and know that you’re going to have to go for the seven in the side oh he was trying to get out and away from it these pockets are big but they’re not that big and luckily we get a good look at the five but this is a pretty awkward angle it’s going to send us pretty deep into that top right this is a shot that I really need to be experimenting with more and what I’m going to do is come into this with low inside low left so that when it pulls in off that second rail it tightens up and comes out towards the eight I have to get under the seven to be able to play it in the side and getting out above the seven is pretty tricky with the traffic there so just clean straight delivery inside nice and smooth kind of controlled speed and it comes out pretty nice just the slightest nudge on the eight there but it keeps us in good line on the seven Easy Touch off the seven there to get on the right side of the eight proper side of the eight the left of the eight in this case but and you can just kind of stun over for the nine and you want to be on the back side of the nine that is this side of the nine so that you can get a cross table for the 10 use the rail to open it up just the slight of angles here to take us down past the 10 and you just let this float forward I punched it a little bit but that’s fine just a natural high ball is going to take you to where you want to be there and this is us so that’s those two matches and that does it for the one against Shawn as I said I’ve got two more coming up from the same night so stick around I’m going to post the next video here in just a couple days my intention is to spread it out so that basically it’s just more overall videos um no more content really but hopefully it’s more digestible let me know if you like this format I’m really curious about your feedback here but it’s going to be throughout the week you’re always going to have a little bit of like BCA 10 Ball action from me and they’re going to be shorter a little easier to watch um because my league night is Monday no Tuesday nights but then the following week I’ll be releasing all the videos so yeah that’s the plan uh we’ll see what what life thinks about my plan but thank you for checking this one out I’m really excited about this league ex excited to have you guys here and I’ll see you again in just a couple days
