thank you debet us for sponsoring today’s video now the first thing I wanted to touch on was the cam fower deal which happened over the weekend so I wasn’t able to talk about it but it’s something that I didn’t want to touch on because it’s a pretty major deal for both the Ducks and the blues one we saw the Jacob trouba deal I was speculating maybe that we saw Cam Fowler going the other way to the Rangers we didn’t end up seeing that but that created a log Jam on the Ducks defense that simply wasn’t sustainable then we go on to Cam Fowler who has been somebody that’s already asked for a trade this season has basically been on his way out with Anaheim over the last year anyways he made the most sense to deal and St Louis is a team that we’ve heard being connected to cam Valor for basically the last year now as well sometimes there’s teams out there that Loop in back on a player that they’ve been on for a while and just end up getting a deal done out of nowhere the blues seem to be that type of team now with Cam Fowler they get this trade done and honestly I think it could be an interesting one for both sides especially for the Ducks though who again needed to make some type of deal on that defense with the log gem that was created there on the trouet trade Fowler made the most sense and honestly value-wise I think they did just fine now in terms of the details themselves the blues get Fowler and a 2027 fourth round pick in exchange the Ducks get a 2027 second round pick so basically just exchanging A4 for a second and then a gel D so it’s nothing too crazy but you do see some attention on the deal as well with the Ducks retaining 2.5 million of f deal for this year and next which is a pretty lofty amount but that makes sure that the Ducks are able to get something like a 202 something second round pick and not like a third round pick or something it creates more value for them so I can understand why they did it especially for the Ducks being a team that is really always trying to get to the cap floor still though I think that salary retention is massive for the blues a lot of people are saying that the blues bringing in another big contract for a 30 plus year old well $4 million for Fowler I think you could go do a lot worse even at this stage in his career he’s not what he used to be but $4 million I think it’s a risk that I’m willing to take especially in a new situation where I think Fowler could use a change of scenery and that’s why I kind of have a little bit of a problem with the people that look at his slow start to the season and automatically assume that we’ll be the same way with the blues it seems like he was pretty checked out of that ducks team in general over the last year he’s somebody that I think Has Talent has potential as an offensive D but in the right situation I think can unlock it I think if you give him power play time if you shelter him defensively I think you can get a pretty Valuable Player here his start of the Season hasn’t been all that great but again I think if you’re checked out if you’re in the wrong situation you’re not going to be putting 100% you’re not going to be giving it his all and I think in Fowler’s case he was hoping for a trade to a contender for the playoffs he was hoping for something better than what Anaheim was giving him and I mean now that he has that we’ll see him play a lot better and in his case he wasn’t horrible this season four assists four points and 17 games but the wunning was on the wall he was going to be just shipped out soon and I think for a player in that situation who’s always kind of walking on EG on eggshells hoping for the trade to happen you’re not going to be playing your best so much distraction in Fowler’s situation I think caused a slow start to him and I think we will see that be alleviated with St Louis now getting into some new players on the trade market here especially with how things have been heating up I first want to talk about cppo cako who is a situation that I think we kind of seen boiling throughout the last year somebody that has just not gotten really the opportunity compared to some other players and it was perfectly expressed by how he was healthy scratched a couple days back and this to me just grinds my gear so much because Peter laviolet helpy scratches capoo and he says in his decision to scratch him it was about putting fresh legs in the lineup I don’t understand that at all because if we’re talking about this Rangers downfall over the last couple weeks if we’re talking about this Ranger season and how it hasn’t been up to Snuff to me one of the few players that has actually been playing up to his level has been capoo he hasn’t been revolutionary everything but he’s been good and it’s still kept that consistent two-way game in fact I think he’s one of the most consistent players on this team yet he’s the player being singled out in the healthy scratch why not Chris krier why not mik’s been a Jad who had just been so inconsistent so poor out there especially in krider’s case he’s had a lot of trainers around him I get that but what has me been doing to deserve that spot over a player like K who has been putting up more points has been way better five on five has been the more consistent product I don’t really know now we go into this section by the hockey writers talking about the kako situation and how much speculation it is sparked that especially when it was announced led to a lot of trade related conversation if kako was scratch because he was going to get traded eventually that hasn’t happened quite yet but they talk about his season so far on a one-year $2.4 million deal he’s an RFA 29 games 14 points and has fac significant criticism for his play which I don’t really understand at all because again if you’re looking at this Rangers team there is so many other players that I would point the finger at before I point it at Koo you also have this section at the bottom though talking about the teams that could potentially be interested saying with teams like the Habs the flames and the Penguin are portly interested all eyes are the Rangers for potential developments and that is true I mean I’m sure Chris drury’s phone is lighting up right now in so many different ways for so many different players kako is somebody that I wouldn’t think is a total mistake for the Rangers to potentially trade it would just have to depend on the deal and to me for the Rangers I would much rather though go after a bunch of other deals especially for the defense that to me is the main priority if kod deal leads to an addition on the defense then maybe you could look for that but I honestly don’t know what his value is right now I don’t think he gets you a top four defenseman or somebody that the Rangers would really need unless you add on top of that so there’s a lot of conversations the Rangers having right now personally though for me I would love to see kokako traded because the the punishment and and everything that’s gone against him to me is absolutely insane man I I don’t understand it he’s one more consistent defensive players on the team and if he was 30 years old I don’t think he would get any any any trade conversations the fact that he is so young though still I think just puts this weird stigma on him that he needs to be so much better than he is he can just be a solid middle six player which is what he is I think for that role he’s doing exactly what he needs to do for this Rangers team and the fact that he’s gotten scratches for this I just I just don’t understand that to put fresh legs in a lineup are you kidding me Peter it just makes no sense to me and I just think him in a new situation with a change of scenery would really be what’s best for him now of course they mentioned the Habs flames and Penguins honestly out of all those teams the Flames have done a pretty good job in their Player Development recently that’s a team that I think could really use some juice in that middle six but there are a team that also I think could really stand up bring in some two-way play and especially for a player like Mel backland another European player on the defensive side who has been just so consistent over the last decade that’s somebody that think kako could really learn from and really develop well under and I think that’s a kind of deal that’s the kind of team that I would like to see kako go to but what wait see for the Flames they have some pretty good defensive targets I don’t think Rasmus Anderson to somebody the Flames are going to be trading though we’ll have to wait and see on that but some interesting conversations the Rangers going to have here now we keep going and we’re going to go onto another middle six Winger here that could potentially be dealt and we go on to the St Louis Blues who of course have already been active in trading Cam Fowler it looks like they aren’t done yet though as Brandon sod is the new re-entry into the trade block that is going to be sparking a lot of interest as the hockey Riders go talk about though as per sportset Insider Elliot Freeman the blues are trying to trade veteran forward sod following the deal with Anaheim to acquire Camp Fowler the bull Blues pulled sod from their lineup and reports are they eager to move the Winger potentially in the hopes of beating the NHL trade freeze on December 19/20 now Brandon s instantly becomes one of the most interesting players on the market especially considering what he can be for a team he makes 4.5 million for this year and next but he has some pretty serious trade protection having a full node trade clause for this year and then that becomes a modified trade clause a 12 team node trade trade list next season so I think most likely we see a saw deal next year especially him as a rental I think could be pretty enticing but there is the chance that sad wants out of St Louis especially with how bad the fit has been this year and waves that no trade clause in the end but he’s 32 years old and somebody that is just a Caesar removed from close to 30 goal year you can see last year in 82 games 26 goals 16 assists 42 points I mean the perception of sad is different from the reality he used to be this really Dynamic two-way Winger but we’ve seen over the last couple years him prioritizing more of that offensive play it hasn’t really resulted in an insane amount of points or anything but in goals he’s actually put up some pretty great numbers and he’s something I think can be a consistent product when he is in a situation that is fresh for him but you can see how it’s turned with St Louis this season not the greatest result so far in 28 games four goals six assists 10 points but for a team looking for a scoring Winger an opportunistic guy that can play off the rush s is a really interesting ad he’s somebody though that defensively I wouldn’t be really looking for too much out of nowadays he’s really regressed in that aspect but as an offensive scoring Winger he can provide a lot of value and especially at that low cap hit at 4.5 million that not just means that I think St Louis is going to be easily able to trade without retaining salary that means that a lot of contenders I think are going to be really interested in him to try to make that deal work honestly the Rangers I could see being a team that could have a lot of interest here I think I’d still go for somebody a little bit younger a little somebody with a little more speed than S has but I think somebody that could really improve that top six give them a little bit of a jolt especially on the power play he’s some that could be interesting there maybe we see a sod for Koo plus type of deal that’s something that could end up working out I think St Louis could be a good fit for kako as well just depends the direction that both these teams want to go in that’s something as well I think for the rangers they would still need to make some more defensive ads after that but it could be interesting if they want to go for a veteran even though I don’t know if that’s the exact answer for them especially when you consider the no trade clause I think that’s a pretty big factor here in the S trade he has to go to somewhere where he wants to go and I don’t think many players would reject going to New York no he to see a capo kako for Brandon sad type of trade I think there would be more coming back from the Rangers to me probably a second rounder or second round equivalent type of prospect the problem is the Rangers don’t have their second round picks for the next three seasons and I don’t think they’d want to trade a second rounder all the way in 2028 for example so I think they’d probably go for a second round equivalent Prospect and it’s a pretty easy one in Adam sakur a former second rounder by the Rangers who’s developed already pretty well at the pro ranks in 25 games this year has four goals nine assists 13 points over a half a point per game there at 20 which I think is a pretty solid Mark so far he’s something could be a pretty good fixture into that middle bottom six and especially with kako as the middle six guy for the future I think the blues could be pretty interesting there guys especially in sora’s case who can bring some good intensity capak with a good defensive work ethic there’s a lot I think you could like from that type of deal that could fit in well especially since s is already kind of just a middle six player already you could be getting the best out of that deal in the future but that’s kind of just my proposal if it’s kokako sakur for Brandon sod who wins who loses I would L your thoughts down below now another situ ation that caught my eye was Frank Celli talking about a potential Kings and flyers trade here talking about on the DFO rundown Frank Celli reported that the Los Angeles Kings are quietly being active in trade discussions and is looking at the Philadelphia pliers as a potential partner sell didn’t think Travis connect was connected to any deals but names like Morgan Frost Joel farby Scott lton and Bobby Brink could be potential options now you look at that four group and I think there are changes they could absolutely make I mean you got Alex turot on the first line left wing and I like turot a lot he’s been a pretty interesting fit with kopar and so far but I think you could make an upgrade there in that position especially as well in the bottom six I think you could upgrade on Jano and potentially even fogal on that third line there are options here for the Kings especially with the Flyers and the diverse set of forwards they have especially though in the cases of Joel farby and Scott L we’ve heard a lot about those two in verb’s case especially he has not been a fit for the Flyers so far but he’s somebody that I think has a really interesting game somebody that when he is actually has the effort has that work ethic is something that can I think do a lot especially in the offensive Department he’s I think the Kings could really benefit from adding especially if far needs that change of scenery the Kings have a good Center lineup that I think could benefit him a lot now if I were the Kings I think Joel far would be the guy I’d be going after but Scott L I still think can provide a lot of value for a bottom six with the physicality the intensity he brings the points are definitely getting inflated a little bit because of that four goal game he had recently but he’s still a solid player you see 14 points in 31 games he’s always going to be hovering around that 30 40 Point range he’s he’s never going to be this unreal producer so I don’t think he’s that much of an upgrade over taner Jano or Warren foggle especially as that third line left wing so I don’t think the Kings should be going after that I think it should be chel farby who is the really interesting offer he’s somebody though that making $5 million is going to be a little bit of a harder sell especially with how poor his results have been so far with his finishing just four goals in 31 games this year after having 22 goals the season before he’s something that I think again can have some pretty great offensive moments but needs to find that consistency under a new system though I think he can find that and if I’m trading for anyone on the Flyers it’s Fabe there were the others mentioned like Frost and Brink but I don’t see much of an upgrade on those guys over the guys that La has fairy though I think has real potential that just hasn’t been hasn’t been substantial in Philadelphia but I mean can be in LA or just anywhere else really now the last part I want to mention here is Dylan cousins of the Buffalo Sab somebody that with especially the struggles he’s had to start out this season has had the magnifying glass of all magnifying glasses put upon him this year the Sabers of course been struggling they’re looking to make changes as much as they can but we have heard recently owner com the owner Terry Bakula come out and talk about to the Sabers themselves saying how they believe that they the solution is within the room I don’t know how much I believe that but considering how cheap the Sabers have been I could see that being a situation that happens I think they are in desperate need of a major change cousins is somebody I would be hesitant in dealing just because I think the potential there is so big but he’s another one of those these bigger forwards that consistency is hard to come with and I think he’s somebody that absolutely could be a blossoming player on a different team now as Al pran mentions some other stuff Buffalo is getting calls on Dylan cousins this would terrify me if I were the Savers vultures circling overhead while a player and team struggle right shot Center 23 years old two years removed from a 30 goal season he’s also time for five more seasons at a 7.1 million aav helping his value I’ll be very very careful with this because he’s legitimately wanted and then the hockey riters goes on to say if the Sabres are open to taking a deal the return would have to be significant cousins is a perfect Target for teams in need of center help such as Pittsburgh Nashville and particularly the Cal Flames the flames in particular will value a right shot Center who alls with a roster ages profile additionally CG Conor is already said he is open to training a first round pick for a player of cousins caliber and age now here’s the thing I don’t think it’s impossible to win a Dylan cousins deal I think you could potentially make a hockey deal that makes the Sabers better in the end the problem is I don’t trust Kevin Adams to be the GM to make that type of deal and not get absolutely hosed in the end really any Sabers GM has to prove themselves especially in the trade market and the major trade market as well that they are able to win these type of situations where they aren’t just getting robbed like the Sabres have gotten robbed in the past countless times I mean Dylan cousins is a player that has the potential to be that type of mistake that the Sabers wish they kept on the roster but at the same time I think with how just bad the Sabres have been again how just inconsistent they have proven to be I think cousins is one of the players that has been the most disappointing the worst on the the team in terms of expectations he should be having this breakout season he should be turning the corner but he just isn’t the confidence isn’t there the Synergy just hasn’t been there either and it’s all just kind of come up to another poor start to the year in cousins case though I think you can win a deal especially if we’re talking about the Flames for example player like Rasmus Anderson who we talked about before could be a really massive addition onto that defense but there’s so many things the Sabres have to juggle here and I’m not even blaming them honestly for not making major trades because they’ve been burned so many times in the fast for doing so but something has to give man because this cannot continue but those are my thoughts as we see the NHL trade heating up to start out this season we’ve already seen so much action and even though we will see the roster freeze here coming soon I think we will see some more action after that as we lead up to the trade deadline so many trades already but so many trades on the Block as well
